This was part of the owners fire plan 16 years ago and are the only accommodation of this kind in Australia. The roof is a garden and because of this the buildings are invisible when viewed on Google Earth. We went for a drive up the recently re-opened Putty Road today. It was closed for a couple of months and you can see why. There is so much devistation but some really encouraging signs of growth. The Australian bush is amazingly resilient. We had lunch at a cafe that remained open to feed the fireies even while the road was closed to the public. As you may know by now, bushfires are currently raging across Australia. Soaring temperatures, incredibly dry conditions and strong winds have meant firefighters have spent months on the front lines, homes have been destroyed, families have lost loved ones, and it is now estimated that over a billion wildlife have perished.
