Hello back to asking mutuals and strangers extremely important work questions I guess
Unfortunately not making ads is out of the question because I'm poor and I need money to escape this hell as soon as possible and more than ads (that make very little money unless the app is extremely popular) I count on making at least a little bit by selling an ads free version. I still want to make the less unpleasant version for anyone that can't afford even uh idk I think maybe 3€ for the ads free version, I'm still deciding on that, so please vote on this thank you!

I went full Picsart on this!
Requested by no one other than my imagination and inspired by @valeskafics and @sapphire-writes . Just their entire blogs, go read it!
Thank you @annikin-im-panicin for helping me out with some of them!
Warnings: Alcohol, throwing up. Let me know if I missed any.
Taglist: None, Lmk if you want to be added!
Yes you are a silly drunk and yes I used silly nicknames.
Is it implied that you are sorta fwb with almost everyone? Yes yes it is.
Reblogs,Comments and follows are greatly appreaciated. Let me know what you thought about it!
Modern!Aegon
If this bitch ain’t the one who got you drunk then he sure is the one who gets to have fun!
He got a call from you which was just gibberish, the only thing he could pick up was drunk, pick me up and party. His face: 🤨. TF is he supposed to do with party?! But luckily for him he made you install friend locator. Hah suck it Y/N it is useful and it was worth spending money on for the premium version! He will so rub it in your face later on.
So let’s say he does find you at 3 am absolutely hammered. Like you just went into a liquor store and bought it all. That’s how Aegon described it but we can’t really trust this little shit.
First of all he safely parked the car before walking towards you, and him being the little annoying cunt he is started filming it all. He got all your weird drunk confessions that should have stayed in the dark. “Aegon your uncle Daemon is like hot. So are your mom and aunt. Why is everyone so handsome!” You clutched onto him as if your life depended on it. “Whoa Princess, I know I’m super attractive and all that but no need to rip out my hair.”
The walk to his car should have been really short but…. no. You being supported by him decided to try to go pet a cat walking down the street. The cat did not like you and it did not end well. “Why does everyone hate me!?” Cue your crying and Aegon just desperately trying to stifle his laugh.
An extra stop at the pharmacy to get some band aids for you. You insisted on the Disney ones, cause they looked cool. At this point he was just straight up laughing at you.
His apartment was closer than yours and with your state you just needed a fucking shower and sleep. So he just took you to his apartment, and looking back he was really glad helaena lived down the street.
He carried you inside as your legs gave up and called Helaena to help you get ready. Normally the boy wouldn’t mind but even Aegon knows that a drunk person should be treated with care and not getting fucked by him in the shower. Which you totally didn’t do once or twice……..
When you were all cleaned up Helaena took her leave and you guys were alone again. “Alright Princess, you take the bed and I’ll sleep on the couch,” he couldn’t finish his sentence before you already started to huff. “What’s the matter?” “Don’t want to sleep alone Aeggy.” you said. “Want me to stay with you?” Aegon asked. He didn’t mind, of course he didn’t! He just wanted you to feel comfortable. “Mhm.” Cue the quick nodding from you.
So he held you in his arms till you woke up. Then he just laughed at you but did give you painkillers. Cause he ain’t that much of a bitch.
Modern!Aemond
He is the friend who said: “Do you need me to pick you up after the party is over?” And dumbass you said: “No don’t worry I won’t get that drunk.” You did you did get that drunk
But Aemond half believing you was in his comfortable clothes at his home 30 minutes away from you watching Gilmore Girls. (He just looks like he would enjoy it).
When suddenly his phone rang. “Hello with Aemond.” As soon as he said that fucking crying could be heard from the other line. “Aem I’m lost.” He could barely make out the words you said. “Y/N, baby where are you?” Frantically searching his car keys while also talking to you led to multiple things ending up on the floor. Nothing shattered but still a bloody mess. What he does for you is insane.
“If I knew that I wouldn’t be crying…” Okay she had a fair point. “Alright miss im so smart. Where was the party? At who’s place?” “At Starks place. You know the one dude.” “Yes . I’m familiar with him. I’ll come and search for you. Just try to find a recognisable place. Like a 7/11 or something like that? Aight love? Can you do that for me?” Aemond knew he shouldn’t be driving and talking on the phone but you were a different story’s. He loved you and he couldn’t bear the thought of you being alone, drunk and most possibly scared.
“I SEE A LIGHT! OMG ITS A CASINO.” Your shouting almost made him go deaf. Aemond blinked a few times before calmly replying. “Thanks love I think I know where you are.” Followed by a quick sigh of him getting the ear damage. “I’m going to bet my money.” You said and Aemond could just hear your smile through the phone. “No no missy, you are staying at the front of the building alright?” “Yes sir!”
Once he finally found you he noticed you were wearing one shoe. He made the connection that you had been killing you ankles walking on one heel this entire time. “You couldn’t take off the other heel?” He asked you with a small chuckle at your drunk antics. “Uhm no. I had to be fashionable.”
“Come on love. Your carriage awaits” he opened the door for you and smiles as you giggled at his choice of words.
The ride home was calm and nothing but silence. That was a lie!
You spent the entire ride telling him about everything you thought you saw. "Bettany kisses Jason, even though she was with James." You whispered, almost scared or being heard.
"OH no!" Aemond feigned surprise and put his hand dramatically to his head.
When you did finally come home he was sure to bath you very very gently. Not touching you in any way. (He is very polite and a gentleman)
You have had slept together on multiple occasions before. Maybe fucking maybe not. Who knows......
So it wasn't a problem for him to just put on his pyjama and get into bed next to you just holding you till you slept.
He was sure to remind you to listen to him more often
Modern!Daemon
Some background info. This can be interpreted as dilf daemon cause it is mentioned that Jace is his stepson.
So his stepson Jacaerys asked to throw a party in the mansion this Friday evening. Who was Daemon to refuse? Especially after he mentioned he would be inviting his childhood friend Y/N.
Oh if only Jace knew what is going on between his step-dad and best friend . Well maybe better if he didn't. ;)
So he quickly accepted the proposal but on one condition! Daemon was allowed to stay in the mansion at all times
He didn't really attend the party until he spotted you entering, an suddenly he was seemingly everywhere where you were.
It became kind of difficult to pretend nothing was going on between you and Jace's stepfather, but thank the gods for Alcohol!!
Jace would be drunk and had caught you guys making out, but instead of reacting right there and then he just left. Weird..
But somewhat later when you made yourself presentable again. he approached you. You were completely prepared for him to shout at you. Instead he goes like: "Bro, I think im hallucinating. I just saw you and Daemon's hallucination make out."
"Yeah, weird......"
You could've left like any sane person would do, but luckily for us you aren't. You went straight to the alcohol, doing shots and sipping combinations i would not recommend.
Daemon had been in the shadows after getting caught. Like Rhaenyra knows about it, hell Daemon knows about Harwin. But they were like, we love each other but also others.
Jace however wasn't aware yet.
So when he saw you drinking that awfully mixed abomination. Like he didn't stop you, but he also didn't cheer it on.
The party went on for a while and after about an hour (don't factcheck me on this one) the drink really hit you like a train.
My god, you were challenging everyone to literally everything. You had lost your coat and were just walking around with a tank top and shorts in the evening while its Winter!!
So Daemom came to the rescue. Grabbing your coat and pulling you away from the mass, he checked if you had any injuries.
"I'm taking you home, you cant go home yourself in this state."
"State? We're not in the United States?" "Oh dear."
He informed a half passed out Jace that he was taking you home and Daemon thinks he half got the message
While driving you home you were like Grogu in that one scene. Touch everything!!
"No love, you just locked the doors. No thats the radio. What do you mean with: Why do i not have a turbo?"
Daemon could feel grey hairs coming.
Once at your flat he used the emergency key and led you inside.
"Wow, who lives here?" Daemon thought you were kidding when you said that.
"Stay put! I do not want you moving off this couch, im going to grab you some stuff so do not make this any more difficult than it needs to be"
You saluted him. "YES SIR YES."
He knew where you kept your tea, heating pad and Ibuprofen.
He ended spending the night there to watch over you. Mama bear Daemon at its finest.
Modern!Jace
Daemon is a caring type after things go south, Jace is a Mom friend all the time.
When you told Jace about the party he gave the usual lecture. “Call me when you arrive and leave. Don’t forget to drink water and don’t die.”
Normally Jace would’ve joined you but he unfortunately had to do a project with Cregan.
So off you went, feeling amazing and fabulous in your new outfit.
It wasn’t that far away from your guy’s apartment, you have been sharing it since a year now.
So you went walking, that would’ve been a big problem later. Especially for Jace.
When you arrived everything was fine, nice music, good vibes and good drinks.
After getting a few light drinks you started to up the game. Doing a few shots. As you took a whiskey shot you could feel it burning.
Listen normally you would be responsible and stop drinking all these stuff at the same time, but yeah……. Not this time.
Mix after mix after different drinks.
As expected you ran to the toilet and there it came. The aftermath of your actions. Well not even the aftermath just consequences
Aegon being a slightly good friend called Jace. Did it come out coherent? NO. But it’s the thought that matters.💕
“Y/N? Oh wait Aegon. Why are you calling from Y/N’s phone. Did she die?!” Jace was already putting on his shoes while talking on the phone.
“Threwssdd upps”
How the fuck was Jace suppose to decipher that gibberish?
“Are you at the main dorm?” “Yes.”
“Alright I’m coming, just don’t let die”
Our homeboy Jace was speed walking until he heard the music
As he entered the house he could see you, with Aegon. He was trying his best to hold your hair out of your way. He did a decent job at it.
“Thanks Aegon, I’ll handle her further.”
“Alright pretty lady, let’s get your hair out of your face first.” Jace pulled out his emergency hair tie he always had on him and tied your hair in a ponytail.
He hoisted you up and let you lean on him while walking. This time he decided that the walk through the park would be better since it had more lights so you could see where you were going.
You immediately got interested by the violets that were growing there. “Oh my god! So pretty they also smell,” And you threw up again. “Nice.” You finished your sentence.
“Let’s just get you home safely and get you to get it all out of your system love.”
After what felt like the longest fucking walk in history you finally made it home. Jace dropped you off at the bathroom, so he could grab some supplies.
He grabbed water, water and more water. :D

YOOO I’m excited! I wanna respect your time and whatnot, but I’m curious about the app called forrest basically you grow trees by focusing for set amounts of time. never tried it but the app store keeps recommending it to me. from a cursory look at the reviews, some people said it helps with phone overuse (hooray??) it is four dollars, not sure that you want to start with that. anyways thanks for your consideration, hope this blog goes super well :DD
This is actually an app I paid for the premium version of years ago, by chance! So I can give it a pretty complete shake. Here's the review.
Forest: Phone usage control
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall rating: Certified, with stipulations. Here's the tl;dr
App includes a disincentive for failure (tree death), so if you're sensitive to even mildly feeling like you've fucked up, this might not be your bag
Low on novelty, so if you need a variety of goals to pursue quickly, this might not be your bag (other plant unlocks take a lot of time, forest grows one 25 minute increment at a time)
Achievements and events are a big plus, with several relatively easy achievements to keep you going.
No Dark Mode
supports a charity so that's pretty cool
Diamonds shop even after a 1 time purchase: go no further if you are susceptible to impulse purchases, I respect them keeping the lights on with optional bonus content, but it can be easy to chase the Purchase Dopamine and we need to say No Thank You
Red Flags: None, this app has been going steady for a few years and for seemingly pretty good reason. I didn't find any red flags with the charity it supports either. It's not on a subscription model, and nothing in it seems to be ridiculously priced.
Dopamine hits: Okay so the main drive for using this app is growing the big old garden of trees, collecting different trees, and seeing the physical space of that garden grow. With this said I have One Major Concern I'd like to get out of the way.
Are you the kind of person that's going to feel like shit if you let a plant die? Will you accidentally tab out, kill a tree, and be miserable out it? Do not use this app.
It DOES let you clear the dead trees out of your garden (see above) but personally I don't find disincentives like that as compelling as positive reinforcement. The app is encouraging about it (as you can see) but personally I'm wary of things where I can receive what feels like a punishment because I was only productive for five minutes and not the allotted ten I needed in order to keep the tree alive. the stopwatch mode reduces this, somewhat, but again, you need over 10 minutes. Make sure you allow texts or calls in allowed apps in settings so if something comes up you don't have to feel bad about killing a tree.
Features: Forest provides you one or two different tree types you can grow as you focus, and a nice little plot of land. I'll be honest, I don't think the free version gives you very much to work with, but the premium version gives you different kinds of trees you can grow, events, social connections, tracking, custom tagging system so you can track what you're spending your time off your phone doing, and best of all, achievements. Forest also comes with both a count-down and a stopwatch mode so that if you'd like to just study or work as long as you can you don't have to just do it in increments, which is nifty, and a change from some other pomodoro counters/timers. If using the app to just do poms/increments, there's a switch to keep the app on while you work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Price: This app is a freemium (on android), but honestly, if phone restriction usage apps are useful for you, just buy the thing right out of the gate. It's 3.99 (also the price of the entire app on the apple store) and what you get for that price is like 99% of the functionality of the app imo. 3.99$ for a one-time unlock is ridiculously cheap for what you're getting. However. The other trees do take a hot minute to unlock. So if you need that cheap and easy serotonin and you have an intense need for novelty this might not be the move.
I will add a stipulation here: Make sure that phone restriction apps are actually what you Need if this is what you're using. if you're the kind of person who can respond to messages and still be productive, this may not be your bag. If you're on a computer and you're going to end up scrolling through tumblr on your laptop instead of your phone, this may not be your bag. Phone restriction apps are useful mainly if what you need to do is get off tech and go do something physical, like read a book or do chores. I do Not recommend this if what you're trying to do is write an essay on your laptop. It is just as easy to procrastinate on pc as it is on your phone. However, For What It Is, this app is extremely functional.
This app DOES have a diamond store and in app purchases to make extra cash but frankly I don't actually begrudge them this. With a one-time purchase that cheap and regular events that seem to allow you to unlock other plants, they seem to have a good content balance and hey, whatever they have to do to keep the app running. I just launched it again and it reminded me I have the pro version even through I bought that like eight years ago.
Polish + Customization: I'm grouping these together because I really have the same quibble for both, there isn't a darkmode on the settings screen, which is an annoyingly bright white compared to the rest of the app. News is Also bright white, so is the store, generally a lot of the things off the main page are bright white with no option to change them. I do not love that. But everything is easy to find and adjust, and though the load times can be a little slow (which is annoying) I generally can't complain too much.
Roadmap: News tab indicates that the app is still being updated and having new plants added, despite the developers seemingly have a couple other projects going- they've got a to-do list app I'm going to have to check out and one to prevent you using your phone while sleeping.
So there u go: Proceed with caution and respect for your specific needs, but it's top of the line in its category, imo. You just need to make sure that category is what you're looking for.

Modern Day Head Cannons
I like to imagine the lost boys characters having modern day quirks since I like to write in the present time. So I compiled a list of random head cannons for each of the characters from the vamps to gramps, on random quirks they would have in the modern day.
David:
Is quite awful with technology. Like he has a phone but cannot change the wallpaper for it. So the other vamps are constantly changing his wallpaper to stupid little things
Though, he would be great with slang. He would know all the up-to-date slang just from reading people's minds and listening to them talk. The vamps would see some new slang or abbreviation and David would know exactly what it meant
His only social media would be a facebook profile he made in like 2010 that has 0 updates since the day he made it. Also it has his real birthdate on it.
He'd also be opposed to his face being on the internet. Like, he doesn't mind pictures as long as they're not posted. He's paranoid like a parent in 2008 who's children are getting a test of the world wide web. But since he doesn't have social media nor can really work a phone, the others will still post stuff of him without him knowing
Dwayne:
Dwayne would have his own Etsy shop for oddities. He'd find and clean bones and sell them online and make a surprising amount of money. Like it started as a little fun thing back when Etsy first began, and then next thing he knew he became very popular.
He treats his little shop without a care, and never responds to messages or actively tells people to fuck off, but people keep on buying. He's a star seller (somehow without responding to messages) and has 5 star reviews.
I also feel that he would LOVE fanfiction. He would read a book and then immediately have a ship and look up fanfiction for it. Sometimes he would write fanfiction, but he never feels like his work is good enough so he doesn't post it.
Since they don't have power at the cave, he'd be the one who would bring all the electronics to a cafe to get them charged. He would love his little cafe trips and it gives him a chance to have a break from the others
Marko:
I feel like he would be experimenting with different pronouns, and the other vampires would be super supportive of him and do their best to ensure they use the proper ones.
Marko would have ALL of the social media. Everything. He'd have facebook, instagram, tiktok, tumblr, twitter, everything. You know he had a MySpace and was in the aol chatrooms. He'd have a shit ton of email addresses as well so he could have multiple accounts.
He knows every vine reference
He posts at least a couple times an hour for whatever pops in his head. He's been temporarily banned on most of his accounts for posting gore-y stuff that was flagged
He has a surprising amount of followers and he jokes about being a vampire all of the time
Paul:
Paul would love pictures on his phone. He would have so many pictures of the other vampires and anything that he sees.
He would also have all of the music apps, and the paid versions specifically. Youtube Red. Spotify Premium. He's got apps to create music, though he's really bad at it.
He and Marko definitely tried to make a youtube channel and it did not work out very well
He also loves to make memes. He and Marko have thousands of saved memes on their phones of things that happen in their day to day life
Star:
Star accidentally became very popular on tiktok for a stupid little video she never expected to get any views. She ends up as a mini influencer with little videos that she spends twenty seconds making
She's also slightly jealous about Dwayne's Etsy shop doing well as she tried jewelry making but nothing was selling. And yet she was always adamant about good customer service and Dwayne ignores most of his messages.
She also has her own bike at this point and somehow she's more scary on it than the other boys
Michael:
He loves cars. He's the kind of guy that would go to car shows and he'd drag the other vampires with him. Paul would take pictures of his favorite cars and print them out for him.
Michael would also have a part-time overnight job to be able to afford getting a nice car of his own
He's also not a fan of memes and tries very hard not to end up in one of Paul or Marko's memes, though it happens so frequently he just has no idea
Sam:
Sam would have amazing fashion. With access to the internet he'd be copying a lot of famous people's styles
He'd be obsessed with pinterest. So many ideas saved, fashion styles, etc.
He'd also have some self image issues that he'd need to work through
He really, really wants to go to a convention but with his family struggling with money he's never been able to
Laddie:
He'd want a cell phone so bad. Star and Dwayne refuse to buy him one because they're afraid of internet safety. But Marko and Paul are happy to led over their phones for Laddie to play games on
David definitely leaves his phone "unattended" for Laddie to take and use
Sometimes David leaves his phone with Laddie so Laddie can text the other vampires when they're out
Edgar:
OBSESSED with Fortnite. Like so obsessed. He's certain Donald Mustard is some sort of undead being and hypnotizing children with the video game. But yet Edgar plays it every moment of free time he has
He also is on top of every conspiracy theory. He believes anything that he reads on the internet, even if it sounds a little far fetched
He also most definitely follows Marko's social media and has zero idea that Marko's a vampire
Alan:
Alan likes Fortnite too, but is not as obsessed about it as Edgar is. He's not as quick to jump onto conspiracy theories as Edgar is, but if Edgar gives him a good reason he'll believe it.
He and Edgar most definitely send each other memes/videos of toxic family relationships and they both will give a brief laugh and look at their deadbeat parents
He's the one that makes friends and brings them to Edgar so that Edgar can have a friend. They don't have many friends, but all their friends are ride-or-die types
Max:
His video store he would have switched to be a tech store so he can still continue to get the personal information of people in the area. People come to buy big ticket items and he can collect their addresses for deliveries, or payment plans, etc.
He'd be very informational about technology in general, but you'd find that he still has a flip phone and does not own any sort of modern piece of technology
He constantly warns the younger vampires about the dangers of the internet
Lucy:
She'd be on a lot of mom blogs, trying to relate with other mothers who have sons
I feel like she'd also be the kind of mother who would have lots of pictures of her children growing up and she'd look at them a lot, or share them online.
She's also definitely a facebook mom who doesn't post updates much, but she's always looking at other people's posts and commenting. She'd also low-key try to stalk her children's new friends all the time. She'd find David's facebook and she'd be like why does it say he was born in the 1800's. And we all just hope she doesn't find any of Marko's accounts
Gramps:
Gramps would LOVE the modern day taxidermy community. He'd be on a very niche online taxidermy forum (not to name names, but taxidermy. net).
He'd love the new forms for taxidermy that he could order online that make his life a lot easier and no asbestos.
He'd still know about all the different vampires in the area

Star Trek Timelines
Original Release: 2016
Developer: Disruptor Beam/Tilting Point/Wicked Realm Games
Publisher: Tilting Point
Platform: Android, iOS, PC
Tumblr media
For extremely long and grindy pay 2 win mobile games like this, I am playing until the inevitable brick wall. Most mobile games follow the same pattern: at the start, you’ll get lots of lootboxes thrown at you, you’ll get a bit of premium currency, and progression will be nice and swift to try and “hook” you. Then suddenly, progression stops. To get further, you’ll either need to grind for weeks, or pay money.
In Star Trek Timelines, there’s a random time anomaly messing with time to enable using characters and ships from all of the shows. It’s the go-to plot for Star Trek mobile games because it means more potential for selling stuff. Your mission is to fix the time anomalies, although with a game like this, there is never actually an “ending” as it means the game would be finished, so you know everything you do will fail.
I’ll start by talking about the good thing of Timelines. For starters, the graphics are really nice. Between missions, you get to see your ship in the planetary system the mission is set in, and they all look wonderful (if a bit busy). There’s nothing to actually do with this, it’s just a backdrop to look at, so it’s a bit frivolous and seems like a colossal waste of the nice assets.
Tumblr media
Now I’ve finished talking about the good points, it’s on to the bad: this is barely a game. The main gameplay are away missions. Your crew have stats and you pick three for an away mission. You have “choices” in the mission but it just amounts to picking the person with the highest stat. You can’t use the same person on two actions in a row, so sometimes you have to pick the second best stat. That’s the total amount of thinking you use in the game. The writing is so dry and the use of just random versions of characters makes everything feel so unimportant that I found myself not having the energy to read most of the dialogue.
The game is all about collecting, and earning random things. Unless you spend a massive amount of time or money, you’re not going to be able to use the characters you like, it’s just whoever you happen to have. You need multiples of the same character to merge and you need to collect items (randomly) to improve their stats. I reached a point in mission 3 where I simply didn’t have the required stat. The way to continue is to play random old missions until you are randomly given something that will help. I managed to get 10 “premium” lootboxes which gave me a ton of characters…none of them useful. But don’t worry, you can buy specific crew at certain times by buying bundles that go up to £92!!!
I remember playing the beta of this and it had an in-depth combat system. It was a turn-based strategy that was a bit like rock-paper-scissors where your abilities worked against certain abilities, but made your ship vulnerable to others. This system was completely thrown out during the beta and replaced with one where you tap icons when they’ve finished charging. There’s so little thought involved that there’s an autoplay button along with an option to speed up the battles.
Timelines is definitely among the worst of all the Star Trek games. It’s devoid of anything interesting, there’s no gameplay and it’s just a chore repeatedly asking you to give it a ridiculous amount of money.

hello herotaru newbies/ people interested in haniwa i am going to educate you about the wonderful thing that is shibarisa/ ariken / kenrisa/shibaari (yeah honeyworks fandom with multiple names for one ship bc we cant choose. i like shibarisa though so thats what ill be using)
Tumblr media
first, may i introduce you to the goddess of our world, takamizawa arisa
Tumblr media Tumblr media
recognize her? if youre completely new, you might not, she did only appear for like 3 seconds in the first episode and like a few frames in the op
so, who is she? she’s voiced by Nao Toyama! she's currently a second year at sakuragaoka high school, part of the same friend group as hina, kotaro, koudai, and ken! (you might recognize them all if you’ve watched the ima suki ni naru movie~) she has a pretty concrete backstory! in middle school, she spoke up against bullies and in turn became the new bully target (and the original girl being bullied turned on her...) this can be seen in detail in Heart No Shuchou and the Heart No Shuchou novel.
This is very summarized, but basically, she knows A LOT about faking feelings and being someone that you aren't, having had to suppress a lot of her likes in order to fit in with the bully group.
Now bring in ken. (Voiced by Takuya Eguchi! )  Ken plays around with girls, not taking love seriouslly. He does it all to escape his home and the sullen atmosphere there is, rarely coming home ( and leaving aizou all alone ): ) (( and yes. shibasaki ken IS shibasaki aizou's actual older brother. yall clowns that dont believe it are so funny im dying)) Ken was interested a little in arisa since middle school, but since they weren't in the same class he didnt really step forward to do anything much, instead telling kotaro to watch arisa for him :)
So when they enter Sakuragaoka, they both are in the same class. Ken takes that opportunity to introduce himself, and slowly they become friends (with a little rough bumps along the way. You can see this in Ijiwaru na deai (sana version, i cant find the seiyuu version :( ) and the Ijiwaru Na deai novel. Also, Ken adopts his and Aizou’s cat, Kuro, because of Arisa :))) It leads to Ken falling truly in love with Arisa and confessing, and Arisa eventually accepting after first being friends (and going on a few dates :) (namaiki honey (ken pov)and Namaiki honey: another story(arisa pov)) (please watch them theyre so cute sobbign crying arisa saying that she’ll be the one confessing and ken being like i’ll wait forever for you crying sobbing they are EVERYTHING)
Besides those couple songs and novels, there isn’t much other content out there for them. Well, besides the honeyworks premium live events and POSSIBLY herotaru crumbs :’) BUT!! Shito has teased that there could POSSIBLY be a new shibarisa song !!!!!!!!!! (Remember Kuro? Kuro is often seen as a big part of their relationship, being in namaiki honey and also being a big part of their story. Who else could the black cat emoji be for?)
Anyways, honeyworks premium live (hanipre, honeyworks’ official mobile rhythm game) there are some REALLY CUTE shibarisa events, like one where Ken and Aizou lose Kuro and Arisa comes to help them, and one where its ken and arisa’s first anniversary and ken secretly takes a part time job so that he could buy arisa a gift :)))))) theyre literally so cute they are my everything
Tumblr media
So, why did I spend time to introduce you to one of literally the best couples of haniwa? Well because thats what they deserve (ken is so whipped. Arisa is also but shes good at hiding it. ken doesnt hide it at all, whipped as fuck) They are just SO important. Like just the dynamic of two people with hard pasts finding each other and changing for each other. As shown in samishigariya (a must watch. i demand you go watch it right now. /srs)
So now I hope you love them too. They literally deserve their own show crying sobbing haniwa why
From this point on I will now introduce you to another aspect of them. If you don’t like aiyuu/ don’t ship it (aizou/yuujiro) feel free to ignore this because I’m now going to ramble SO MUCH about the CANON shibarisa/ aiyuu parallels and why they work so well (and also promote me and lisi’s roleswap AU :))) )
So. A big part of this comes from samishigariya so if you haven’t already, go watch it. Basically, it shows how Ken and Aizou used to be close, but as they grew and their family fell apart, their bond broke too. Eventually, both meet their most important person, quote on quote, the only one that found them (For Ken, that being Arisa (which if obviously romantic) and for Aizou... his unit mate, Yujiro.) Both are compared to moody kittens, sometimes there, yet quick to flee, but always there when their Shibasaki needs them. (Also. Aizou and Ken are canonically wearing a black dog hat and a shiba inu hoodie. You really can’t make this up, the cat/dog parallels are real.)
There’s even more things about the two that parallel each other besides those shown in the MV. Some can be seen as coincidences, but honestly there’s way too many that I’m thinking it’s got to be on purpose:
Both Arisa and Yujiro are from traditional families. Arisa’s family runs a shrine, while Yujiro’s family are Kabuki performers.
Both Arisa and Yujiro like sweets. This is more of an educated observation, though we know that Yujiro definitely likes sweets. It’s just, Arisa and ken go to crepe stands a lot and that one 3 star in hanipre with her eating a crepe makes me think she’d love sweets.
Both arisa and yujiro are tsunderes. (and both shibasakis are often more earnest and outgoing!! im looking @ u aizou, saying that you were glad that you went on the kyoto trip with yujiro even while yujiro refused to say that aloud )
BOTH COUPLES HAVE THE SAME SECRET SPOT: The spot where the beginning of namaiki honey happens/ where arisa agrees to be friends first is the SAME SPOT as the place that aizou drags yujiro to whenever they need a heart-to-heart in private. i literally cannot make this shit up
and the most important: both couples are pairs where 2 people, broken and hurting/ with a rough backstory, finding each other and helping each other grow.
like, these two pairs are SO SIMILAR you can come up with any scenario for either of them, and it’d PROBABLY work for the other. Literally. Just try it. In fact, this is exactly why our roleswap AU works so well. It literally fits both couples so perfectly (and you should check it out!!!!!!!!!!!! lisi’s writing for it is absolutely FANTASTIC)
Also. One more thing Not to forget. The latest Hanipre Valentines event: Yujiro seeing Ken and Arisa arguing in front of him, but then making up and having a heart to heart, agreeing to talk to each other clearly. And then Yujiro admitting that that was the kind of relationship he wanted. AND THEN YUJIRO THINKING ABOUT HOW KEN (who he didnt know was aizou’s brother) REALLY REMINDED HIM OF AIZOU. just some. food for thought
if you want to read more about the parallels, lisi has a really good post here!
ANyways yeah. Stan shibarisa. and maybe aiyuu i guess idk just know that the shibarisa/aiyuu parallels are very real and so important
also praying for more arisa and aizou interactions, its so wholesome, aizou accepts his future sister in law sobbigngn and she doesnt treat him like a celebrity or anything, she just treats him as shibasaki’s little brother, like family
and also praying for yujiro and ken interactions pls im beggind theyd be so funny
and maybe yujiro and arisa bonding over how dumb their shibasakis are
ahgfhjkjhdf just all of them together theyd make such a good family. real true shibasaki family.(yuko does not count. she remarried, shes basically not a shibasaki anymore) Kuro is also a very important member of this family. THE most important
SO ANYWAYS. hello herotaru people if ur still here. stan shibarisa. they are SO important and in love and my entire world.

Gathering Friends
I collect Planeswalker cards. Ever since I opened Sarkhan Vol in a Shards of Alara draft, I've been in love with the card type. It's like calling in a favor from a friend, except instead of getting a ride to the airport, you get dragons.
Tumblr media
Look at that card! It may not seem special now, but imagine seeing something like this for the first time. The curved art border, the transparent rules box, the character literally popping out of the frame. It was unlike anything ever seen in the game before, at least outside of joke sets. The introduction of Planeswalkers in Lorwyn was probably the biggest impact on Magic: The Gathering in the franchise's history.
The rules for my collection started off simple: 1) Every printing of every Planeswalker card 2) If there's a premium and a non-premium version of the card, only the non-premium version counts
Then they got a little more complicated as new ways of getting Planeswalker cards came about: 3) Prerelease promos that are identical in every way to their main set counterparts don't count (this would go on to exclude promo pack cards with the foil symbol stamped on the image, as well as reprints with the little symbol on the bottom left of the card) 4) Cards given out as prizes don't count 4b) Heroes of the Realm cards DEFINITELY don't count 5) Lottery cards don't count (1/30 Collector Booster, serialized, other assorted nonsense)
Then came the big one: 6) Special foil treatments do count, so long as they have different collector numbers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That last rule was tough to decide on, because it walked back the lottery stipulation for the foil etched cards in Kamigawa Neon Dynasty. However, the textured foil cards in Double Masters 2022 were different enough from their main set counterparts that it felt right. It's also a very expensive category. As it stands, I can't afford to collect all of those, but we'll see what the future brings.
I'm currently pretty far behind with the collection, missing around 91 out of the 687 currently available Planeswalker cards (excluding 18 cards that land outside of the rules, of which I do own 7). It's mostly a bunch of inexpensive cards, less than ten dollars each, so it's doable. I'm thinking of buying everything worth less than five bucks in one go, and then completing the rest set by set. The last (and only) time I had a complete collection was during Amonkhet, so I'm in no rush.
Tumblr media
It's definitely a first world problem, but damn if they don't print FAR too many cards these days. I love collecting these things, but because I don't let it get in the way of my real life, the backlog builds up. It's especially annoying because there are three or more different versions of each Planeswalker card in each set nowadays. I rarely feel the thrill of opening one in a pack anymore, because it's only one of a dozen or more mythic rare cards I need from the set. Phyrexia: All Will Be One is certainly an outlier, but I added thirty-five rows to my spreadsheet in anticipation of the set's release.
One interesting thing about the way the game is now, rotating out of Standard doesn't affect the price of cards very much after a few months. Prices stabilize much more quickly than they used to, and they don't drop as drastically anymore. I no longer feel like I should wait until rotation to clear the backlog a bit.
As a final note, I recently discovered the existence of this card:
Tumblr media
It's a prize for Japanese store tournaments. It doesn't count toward the collection (though I do have the other three alternate art promos in this series), but I want it very badly. I've been trying to figure out how to scrounge up a couple hundred bucks to get this card, and feeling ridiculous because there's no excuse for spending that much money on a Magic card, especially one I'll never play.
I enjoy collecting these things, even during times when I'm not actively playing the game with friends. It maintains my connection to the hobby, and gives me a reason to keep up with the story and the game mechanics. On the flip side, sometimes I feel trapped by what can seem like a monumental endeavor. I often wish I could divert the attention I spend on this elsewhere.
In the end, though, Planeswalkers are the reason I still play one of my favorite games in the world. If I hadn't started this collection, I would certainly have moved on from Magic years ago. For something that brings me so much joy, I'm glad I've been able to stick with it for all this time.

okay I don't usually post on swiftie tumblr but I'm done standing by and watching y'all complain about hits different not being on spotify when it's super easy to upload it yourself. get ready for some instructions™ because after these very easy steps you too can have hits different on spotify.
1. okay so step number one is having spotify premium. unfortunately, this step is unavoidable because this does NOT work on the free version of spotify. so if you can't get spotify premium I apologize.
2. step number two is…uh having the song. if you're not sure how to go about that there are a few options. if you're really committed to supporting taylor with your every cent then you can buy the target version of midnights and rip the file onto your computer then send it to your phone but I know not everyone has a CD burner in this day and age—and let's face it, I don't expect most younger swifties would know how to use one lol. the second best option is asking a fellow swiftie for an mp3 file of the song (what I did). or you can…*ahem* 🏴‍☠️ cuz if we're affording eras tour tickets then we can't be spending all our money on CDs we can't even listen to (at least I know I can't since I haven't had a CD player in years). ooooor you can just download it here!
3. okay now that you have the file on your phone the rest is simple. you go to your spotify app and open the settings. I'm doing this on android so it might be a liiiiittle different on ios but I'm sure the gist of it is the same. you scroll until you find the section titled local files. then you simply switch the toggle shown below:
Tumblr media
4. and voila! now you will see a folder titled local files in your library. from there you just open that section and you will see all the audio files downloaded to your phone. you can even like the songs or add them to playlists!
Tumblr media
here I have need and added it to a playlist with the rest of lover
Tumblr media
I even have the stolen version of red (because I prefer it to the rerecord don't kill me) but since it's in my local files it doesn't contribute any streams to the stolen version so I can listen to it guilt free.
Tumblr media
anyhow I know I'm not the best at instructions but I hope it was easy enough to follow. it's really not that hard and requires very little technical knowhow so I think anyone can do it! and being able to play local files opens a lot of doors because you'd be surprised at how many songs aren't on spotify. so please take things into your own hands and do this because hits different…hits different when played between mastermind and the great war!

It's actually fascinating to me that dating apps have essentially pulled the same bullshit that streaming services (and the video game industry, now that i think about it) have pulled.
Essentially: - the market is over-saturated - "content" is spread thin - constant downgrades and removal of free features to paid tiers
I can think of quite a few dating apps off the top of my head. Hinge, Tinder, Bumble, OkCupid. (Most of which have enjoyed a brief five minutes on my phone before I realized ahh scary, but hear me out.) Userbases are actually spread pretty thin. Tinder has the most people on it, being the only usable app in many small town and rural areas. It has very effectively marketed itself as a hookup app, not a relationship app*--hence, people stay on the app longer and are more likely to get frustrated and pay for the premium tiers (after all, those 86 likes are so tantalizing! I want to know who they are! Ah...now that I've paid, where did they all go?) Technically all of these platforms will advertise your profile globally, far outside your location to drum up likes and trick you into paying for premium, but Tinder is a pretty hefty offender because of its near-ubiquity and explicit de-emphasis on long term relationships.
Other apps lack the userbase that Tinder has. They might be okay in the city, but the effect is very similar to content being divided among the many streaming platforms that have sprung forth since the advent of Netflix. Sure, it's easy enough to download every dating app available on the app store, but you have to a) dedicate time to curating your preferences on each of these apps and b) the free versions suck ass. Depending on what subscription model you get, these things can run you up as much as 40 bucks a month per subscription. That racks up fast. And people are desperate for companionship.
Here's the other comparison. Remember the paid streaming tier of Netflix with ads, when in the past decade its explicit appeal was having all the content with no ads?
I did a little snooping on the OkCupid subreddit, because I was curious. Most of the most popular posts and success stories were from... 2014. Nearing a decade ago, at this point. Many, many of the features that made (free!) OkCupid not only usable, but a genuinely accessible and efficient online dating experience have been slowly chipped away. Looking at the google reviews, and the subreddit, you can see how disappointed people were to watch this app's downfall. Prior to my own forays into online dating, when I was first doing research about free dating apps (because I'm a dirty cheapskate) I noticed that naturally, the older the articles were, the more highly these apps were spoken of. Despite this being the supposed heyday of online dating, the apps are at the worst they've ever been.
The parallels to the downgrades of streaming services are fairly clear, but I think it's even more obvious and insidious when you compare it to the state of microtransactions in the gaming industry.
See, many of these apps have "boost" mechanics that advertises your profile to more people (because everything these days is so swipe-heavy) or they have "super likes" that are limited and can be bought and let your potential match know you're interested--god, even the all important, basic dating mechanic of "letting people know you're interested in them" is made into a paid feature! Admittedly, most of my examples here pertain to OkCupid (because it's the only app I can bring myself to spend more than 48 hours on), but that one makes you pay fucking $1.99 for read receipts**. This is very similar to the pay structure of the mobile games industry, as well as the free-to play model of many modern console and PC games.
The gaming industry, being something of a new medium of expression and working as its own "virtual reality" of sorts, is usually a harbinger of new "innovations" in the ways we are sold commodities--lootboxes, for example.
And here we are. The invasion of microtransactions, season passes, and paid DLC that gut the base game of the most personal aspect of our lives.
In the case of streaming services and certain games, the solution has been piracy, or not to play. But for many of us, romantic loneliness is a major barrier to happiness in our lives, and the results these subscription services net us are...minimal. For those of us who are less than conventionally attractive or socially awkward, I mean, there's a reason we're trying to utilize these apps in the first place.
The equivalent to piracy is risking rejection and asking people out face to face. Otherwise... you can't exactly download a relationship. Or not one with a real person, at least. Our loneliness is already being capitalized on via AI romantic companions, as we've seen with Replika.
I've seen a fair few people (in my circle of edgy lefty tumblr, anyways) express frustration over the odd little cognitive dissonance that it's no longer as comfortable or commonplace to express romantic interests in strangers, though it may be in a normal, respectful way. Can't help but feel like that's related.
*I want to clarify that people who do hookups are cool and can do whatever they want. It's just that the state of the dating app industry has left those of us more interested in long term relationships in the dust.
**These are generally bad in normal day to day life, but I would argue in the context of a dating app that these can be pretty crucial in determining another person's interest.

a couple complaints about pokemon sleep.
first of all, i wish changing your bedtime didn't reset your stamp card. at least not if you only change it by a couple hours. or it could just not give you a stamp on the night you change it, instead of just completely clearing it. to be fair, it's probably not something you'd do often, but it's a little annoying at the beginning if you're trying to ease into a healthier sleep schedule.
second (and the only other complaint i have atm) is that WHY IS ALL THE REAL-MONEY STUFF SO OVERPRICED LMAO. $10 USD a month for what... getting more non-premium currency and a slight discount on things bought with it? and every day you get a snack that gives a whopping 1 (one) extra friendship point than the standard version? wow. that's quite the incentive. and the pokemon go plus+ being $55??? $20 higher than the original pg+ when the extra functions are definitely not worth that much.
and to be clear, i'm NOT saying they should add more value to this stuff to make the prices worth it. can you imagine a sleep tracker app being pay to win? lmao. but yeah i wish they'd lower the prices. $3/m for the subscription, maybe take out the unlimited sleep data feature since i don't think anyone whose sleep tracker of choice is a pokemon game really cares about that lmao. then just keep the premium currency as is so your customers who are more able and willing to spend money for convenience will continue to do so. easy profits.
but anyways all that aside, it's a fun app :) definitely accomplishes what it sets out to do. i like it, i just hate greedy capitalists lmao

hi! i hope this message finds you well. i have a question regarding photography, if you don’t mind me asking!
i’m looking to get a point and shoot film camera and was wondering if there are any models in particular that you’d recommend. a lot of suggestions i see online are quite expensive for a beginner, and the reviews are usually coming from experienced photographers detailing things i don’t quite understand lol. i don’t know what i should be looking for!
your photographs are so beautiful and inspiring. thank you <3
first of all, thank you for the compliment <33
if you're just starting out, i would noooot get any of the commonly recommended cameras because they're way too pricy. what you need to keep in mind is that these point-and-shoots from the 80s-2000s are eventually bound to fail because of the electronics, so spending too much money on something that will be a brick someday is not necessary, especially if you might just want to play around. i use a canon prima 5 (i think it's called a sureshot in the us) that i got for 25€ from some random person on ebay, not knowing if it would work, and it's great. so, don't listen to the hype (if you're gonna drop hundreds to thousands on a camera, it shouldn't be a point and shoot lol).
it's hard to give specific recs as there are soooo many p&s cameras on the vintage market, and even i don't know every brand on there. it's good to remember that these cameras were the go-to for most families in the 90s and early 2000s, so there's a wide variety from cheap garbage to premium quality, and it's hard to distinguish which are which. instead of specific models, i would think of what kind of things you want. for example, i knew i didn't want a super wide angle lens, i wanted a flash i could turn on and off, and i wanted a fixed focal length (no zoom) and decent aperture. this narrowed down my choices quite a lot. is it going to just be a camera for snapshots or do you want to really practice some serious photography? if the latter, a point and shoot is okay but not ideal, and you will get much more out of a cheap slr. however, for the former, a point and shoot can be nice.
you can go for one of the well known brands (canon, nikon, olympus, pentax, yashica, minolta), although cheaper cameras can also be fine. usually, the zoom models will be much cheaper than fixed lens versions. the trendier and sleeker something looks, the more expensive it will be. so, if you want to save money, get a camera that looks like what your parents would have used on a vacation lol. what i would look for is detailed descriptions of the functions, ideally it's been film tested and even better when they attach pictures of the test roll. you can usually tell the difference between someone that's just selling a camera they know nothing about (descriptions will be very basic and have little detail) and someone who's knowledgable (they might say why they're getting rid of the camera, for example). another tip if you want to be on the safe side is to buy from commercial sellers on ebay; at least in germany, you can return it if it doesn't work within a specific time window. so, if you buy a camera, shoot a test film and get it developed asap to see if everything's in order.
however, if you want to save yourself all the trouble of finding a used, vintage camera (although they will probably be better quality than anything new), there are some companies making basic point and shoot cameras. the caveat here is that they're usually not super capable, they might be half-frame cameras (you get double amount of pics but the quality won't be as high), and the lenses are likely made of plastic, meaning the quality won't be on the same level of a decent vintage point and shoot. however, the upside is that you can comfortably buy them in stores and you can be assured they work. there's the kodak m35, ilford sprite 35 and one from agfaphoto. however, if you're hunting for the more "cheap" p&s film look and just want something easy and simple, one of these may be the right choice for you. however, i'm not convinced they will last as long as a vintage p&s, considering the price.
i hope this helped, but let me know if you have more questions!

Tinder is a scam designed to capitalize on loneliness and never ever find you a partner. It started with an admirable enough business model, but over the years it has morphed into the most heinous, evil version of itself humanly possible. Not even a Saturday morning cartoon villain would be able to come up with such an intricate and immoral system.
First off, you know how Tinder works right? You swipe right if you wanna match with the person, and you swipe left if you don't. Seems simple enough, right? We live in a meritocracy where the quality of your pictures and the wittiness of your bio will determine whether or not you find a match? Surely we'll be on a date and out of here within a week, right?
You forget one thing. Tinder is a business. Its product is hope, not love. If you find a partner, you won't be a customer anymore. Because of this simple truth, it's in Tinder's best interest to keep you pining after love for as long as humanly possible before somehow finding a partner, or deleting the app in despair.
Well okay, Snappy, I get it. They run ads! That's not immoral! They have to do that! -An innocent soul.
Let me explain how Tinder makes money. I haven't used it in a few years, but I remember it well. First off, the app all about "swiping until you find true love" sure doesn't like you swiping that much. In fact, you only get to swipe about ten times a day.
But what if I wanna swipe more than ten times a day? You're totally allowed to! If you GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! This is the first step into the hell that is Tinder. They hook you on seeing little cuties and hulking hunks and right when you're in a rhythm they cut you off and demand $10 for some bullshit "Tinder Premium."
Alright, I guess $10 a month isn't that bad if you're gonna find love in a week or two, right?
Well now you have unlimited swipes, but the pain doesn't end there. You see, you haven't actually gotten a single match yet. But Tinder will let you know with obnoxious push notifications on your phone's home screen and spammy numbers in the app that people ARE SWIPING RIGHT, you just can't see them.
Would you like to see them?
If you wanna see who likes you on Tinder, then Tinder Premium isn't enough. No, now you need to subscribe to Tinder Gold. While unlimited swipes was already close to a Netflix subscription's cost, Tinder Gold is going to run you a whopping $24.99 A MONTH!
$24.99 a month just to see who likes you! Sure, you don't have to buy it, but Tinder will NEVER stop sending you push notifications and shoving it in your face while you're using the app. That golden circle with the number of people who have swiped right on you keeps getting higher and higher... You haven't gotten a single match yet, and you're desperate. So you purchase Tinder Gold. $24.99 down the drain. But at least you're guaranteed some matches, right?
But wait a minute... You already swiped through everyone you could reasonably find in your area, right? With your trusty unlimited swipes, you spent a good three hours just grinding through the backlog and now it's empty. So who are these mystery people?
That's the next layer of deceit. Tinder will tell you that you've completely run out of people when that is just not true. Also, there are people you will never see because Tinder actually has a social rating system that determines your "desirability" and can permanently shunt you down into the dredges of virtual society, never to be shown to people ever again.
You heard that right. Tinder has a hidden ranking system. It has a secret ELO score for every single user, and if your score is beneath a certain threshold, you will never be shown to high ranking people ever again. But this is a double-edged sword, because it also shows you the highest ranking people in YOUR feed to coerce you into spending big on those love-finding subscriptions so you can actually talk to some of them.
I am not making this up. Source.
So your Tinder feed is completely empty. You've been reduced to the bottom of the social ladder, and you can't seem to get more than one or two swipes in every day before you see that tragic "You've Run out of People! Expand your search radius here!" text.
But at least you purchased Tinder Gold for $24.99, right? So you can finally check out that stockpile of people who swiped right on you!
Hey..... Wait a minute...
THESE ARE THE PEOPLE YOU'VE ALREADY SWIPED LEFT ON!
That's right. The final nail in the coffin is here. Those golden silhouettes Tinder kept harassing you with every single day, the number that just kept on getting higher? 6 people like you! 10 people like you! 15 cutiepies love you! It's too much to bear! So you do it! You spend $24.99, only to realize that the people who have been liking you are people you've already declined.
That's it, then. I guess there's nothing left to do but lick your wounds, feel a little ashamed, and delete the app. Maybe you'll make this mistake two or three more times before finally realizing it's a total sham, but the results are the same.
One thing someone might argue is "Tinder gold is only $24.99 a month if you go monthly! If you purchase it as an annual subscription, it's only $8.33 a month!"
To that, I have one simple question... Why the FUCK would someone be using Tinder for an entire year if it actually fucking worked? Especially if Tinder Gold worked as advertised! Infinite swipes, see everyone who liked you, five superlikes a day, (we didn't even have time to get into how fucked up super-likes are), etc.!
They kinda give the entire game away by even offering an annual subscription. If Tinder fucking works, why the hell would you need to use it for an entire year? Or two years? Or maybe three years!
Say it with me class: It's because Tinder is designed to keep you sad, lonely, and depressed for as long as humanly possible without ever delivering on the product it promised you, because Tinder does not sell love, it sells hope.
But hope is only good for so long, especially when it comes with an annual subscription.

Okay lets GOOOO, travel tips and money saving stuff for anyone who wants it!! I'm obsessed with travel I'm so sorry @ how long this is :')
Get the app, Hopper! It's free and it shows you the cheapest and most expensive days to fly, and allows you to track specific destinations and hotel prices - it has an algorithm which predicts price drops etc, too!
AirBnB has ethical issues, so I would research the local opinion on it - some locals really don't mind AirBnBs, some do, so research. But ngl, I use AirBnB in places that the locals don't have much issue with it.
Hostels are much better than hotels in terms of cost and usually have a much better vibe. I love hostels, my fave was in Copenhagen - it was like a little pod hostel, it was IMMENSE (cityhub CPH)!
Get in the mindset of having low standards lmao 2* hotels are your best friend for travelling cheap. My mindset is if it has a bed and running water, it's good enough for me!
Sign up to Jack's Flight Club, a free (with a premium option, but I only have the free one and it's AMAZING) it's an email list that sends you notifications about cancellations at insane discounts!! I love it so much I do plan on paying for the premium one eventually, just... money lmao so later
Skiplagged: this one is a bit sketchy on your part and sort of fucks over the airport staff, so I personally don't use it. Essentially, you book a flight with a layover - so say, Book to Oslo, layover in Amsterdam. You get it cheaper than a direct flight, but you just walk out of the airport at Amsterdam. This is called Skiplagging! You can't take any luggage, only carry-ons, and if the airlines catch onto you doing this you can get barred so like. yknow.
Secretflying: cheap flights and travel deals!
AirWander: This one is super cool and I love it a lot, but you have to be okay with short trips - like one day per city, or something. Basically, you book a flight with long layovers - a day, 12 hours, whatever - and you leave the airport in these layovers. This means you get INSANELY cheap deals bc layovers are 'undesirable' but you get a whole new stop in your itinerary!! I love this one!
SkyScanner is honestly really good for cheap flights. If you're flexible, search everywhere and sort by price - and by 'cheapest month'!
Airports are ridiculously overpriced as I'm sure everyone knows, so bring literally as much as you can to avoid having to spend money in the airport. They are straight up scams (but sometimes it's unavoidable, obviously!)
On that note, use Groupon and other discount apps and schemes for cheap food and such. They're really worth it.
Use the browser extension Honey - it's really really good for money saving, even if not directly for travel!
Check out different departure airports. It might be different for bigger countries but like, for me for example, I usually fly from Dublin rather than Belfast - it involves me taking a 2 hour bus down to Dublin, which is £16 return. But the flights from Belfast are SOOO much more expensive than from Dublin so it's actually way more efficient, so look around!
So in Norway, under 26s get youth tickets - ungdomsbillett? I think other countries may have similar schemes so look up "youth tickets" and the country if it applies!! Research lots!!
Make your own food and bring like sachets of soup, noodles, 'just add water' things in your luggage - especially to countries that are a bit more expensive! This helps a TON, seriously
Tripadvisor is honestly really good for finding recommendations for cheap food, places to go, etc.
don't buy any drinks etc on flights; again, they're such a rip off. Bring as much as you can or buy it in the airport - as much as airports are rip-offs, the plane is even worse!! Stock up before your flight!
Get a set of little reusable plastic travel bottles and fill them yourself with shampoo from home, makeup remover etc. instead of buying small travel-sized versions!
LOYALTY PROGRAMS FOR THE AIRLINES literally sign up to every free one you can - KLM's flying blue, for example. They reward you for the miles you travel with them and you get sweet perks as well, and it's free!! Ngl I do this for every single airline I travel with LOLLL I'm on like 9 loyalty programs
If you drink alcohol, check out the prices of alcohol before you go - if they're expensive, buy it in the duty free at the airport or bring it from home in your luggage. This is again something I super super recommend lmao
Buy yourself plastic freezer bags/ziplock bags and use those to hold your underwear, socks etc. Re-use them again and again - I've been re-using mine for five years LOL it saves space in your bag!
Again to save space in your bag and therefore keep costs down, roll up clothes and put them inside your shoes!
ROLL YOUR CLOTHES. ROLL THEM. Rolling is THE way to pack this is maybe the #1 most important thing it saves you an incredible amount of space. Roll everything.
Use hair elastics to keep shoes together or to keep your things rolled up - best for like thick jumpers etc!
THAT'S ALL I CAN THINK OF FOR RIGHT NOW I will update with more if I think of anything else 👀👀

Sonic Dash
Original Platform: Android/iOS
Original release: 7th March 2013
Version Played: Android
Available to buy: Yes
Tumblr media
An endless runner inspired by the success of Temple Run, Sonic is definitely a good fit for the genre and Dash does a good job of making it a Sonic endless runner and not just Temple Run starring Sonic.
Gameplay is simple: Sonic runs forward, you swipe left and right to move across the three “lanes”, jump to jump over obstacles and spin dash to roll under obstacles or defeat enemies. After a section of “track”, you will hit a spring (which can lead to different locations or boss encounters, and you can pick one of three), bank the rings you have collected and carry on. Each time you get to a spring, the rings you have collected will be times by how many springs you have reached in this run. If you hit an enemy, spikes or bomb, you will lose your rings (and get hit again and you’ll die) but hit a wall of some kind and you’ll instantly fail and your score will be counted up.
That’s how it is in theory, but due to microtransactions and adverts it doesn’t work like that. When you die, you can watch an advert or pay in one of the premium currencies (red rings) to come back to life. In order to create a sense of progression, rings can be spent upgrading characters, making abilities and power-ups last longer. You also gain XP by levelling up or completing missions (simple things like “kill X enemies, collect X rings”). The more XP you have, the higher your score multiplier. You can also buy one-off boosts to move you along faster.
While it’s nice to have progression, these all make the score utterly pointless. There’s no reason to aim for a high score when you can just grind or pay money to get a better score. It turns a simple but fun idea into a game where you play to get rings, so you can spend rings to be able to get more rings.
One nice thing that you do unlock are new areas, based on different zones.  You can choose to start out in any zone you wish, but springs will take you to the other zones. There’s no difference to the gameplay, but they all do look gorgeous and it’s nice to change the environment up.
Sonic Dash has fun gameplay, but it’s a score-based game which has a meaningless score. It’s nice enough to play every now and then, but you have little incentive to go further than you did last time.

Reviewing four small Knizia card games
I love Reiner Knizia’s small, simple board game designs that are “easy to learn, hard to master.”  And I love the fact that many of the games he’s designed have Japanese editions which are made by companies that 1) care more about component quality than their western counterparts, and 2) are made for customers in tiny Tokyo apartments, where shelf space is at a premium.
They’re the perfect games to stuff into a backpack (or suitcase) and bring out to share with people who “enjoy playing games, but aren’t into the board game hobby.”  They’re something for the people who don’t want to play a 1+ hour long euro engine builder, but would like to be treated to something of a higher class than Uno or Monopoly.
Thus it came to be that when visiting my family for Christmas this (er, last) year, I took four Reiner Knizia card games with me. They were such a big hit that the family won’t let me take them back with me. (Okay, actually, leaving the games behind was my suggestion after they expressed interest in acquiring copies for themselves; given the economics of importing items from Japan, it makes more sense for me to just order replacement copies of the games for myself the next time I place an order from Amazon JP, which is something I now do fairly often since learning that they will let you pay in USD with a US credit card and ship directly to the US.)  The following list is assorted roughly in descending order of how much I liked them:
Tumblr media
High Society (3-5 players, 15-30 minutes)
This was immediately my favorite, and a poll of the family revealed it to be a unanimous favorite (excluding the non-vote from my sister, who refused to pick a favorite). It also happens to be the one game in the pile that wasn’t a Japanese import. (There is a Japanese version; I just like the art from the 2018 US version published by Osprey better.)
I love this game. It’s an incredibly mean game consisting entirely of auctions to win cards that are worth points (and “reverse auctions” where you bid money to not receive the cards that are worth negative points), with the stipulation that whoever has the least money at the end of the game loses.
Furthermore, you are bidding with fixed denominations of money: you have a single card of each denomination of $1, $2, $4, $6, $8, $10, $12, $15, $20, or $25 (Actually, the “currency” in the game is francs, and you’re bidding thousands of francs, but denoting them with a dollar sign is easier.)  Critically, you can only increase your bid by adding a card to your previous bid; the auction house does not make change. What you very quickly realize is that lower denominations are a precious commodity: you’d much rather spend a single $10 card than a $4 + a $6.  If you spend all of your “low” cards early, you quickly lose the ability to incrementally increase bids.
This is an auction game that is mean, where you frequently use your money to bully other people at the table into paying more for cards that you had no intention of buying (but that they desperately need), or by baiting them into bidding wars that bait out their low cards, removing their ability to strategically bid later in the game. There are all sort of subtle asymmetries that crop up in ways that affect the bidding in interesting ways: for example, one of the negative cards (which triggers a reverse auction where you bid not to take it) causes you to lose one of your point cards. If you’re sitting across the table from someone whose only card is a 9 or a 10, they’ll be desperate to avoid that card, whereas you might be more willing to take it if you’re just going to be losing a 2-point card. That gives you leverage. Ditto for situations when you’re in the final turns of the game, sitting across from someone who has a handful of money but with a point total that is nowhere near winning -- or the reverse, when you’ve got a handful of money, and are staring at someone who is at risk of being sent to the poorhouse and has precious little money to spend when a negative point card comes up.
It’s incredibly simple and takes about 2 minutes to teach the rules, but it’s highly interactive, and extremely cutthroat. It’s the opposite of what you get from most modern “euro” board games (which are often made to feel like “multiplayer solitaire”), and everything you want from a Knizia game.
Tumblr media
Kariba (2-4 players, 15 minutes)
(The above photo is of the Japanese version of the game, which has slightly different art from the latest US release; as you can surmise, there’s no language component.)
Kariba game with simple rules and simple artwork/theming that you could play with a child, but as with most Knizia games, it hides a certain amount of depth behind its simple decision-making. (It also has an optional “expert” mode, where you draft cards from a market rather than drawing blindly off the top of the deck, which is highly recommended once everyone at the table understands how to play.)
The rules are simple: all the animals want to visit the watering hole, and so every turn you play a card from your hand in one of the eight slots around the board. Animals are allowed to bring friends of the same species: you may play multiples of a matching card. And when three (or more) animals of the same species are present at the watering hole, they chase away the next-smallest animal: three rhinos (7) will chase away any number of leopards (6), allowing the player who played the rhino(s) to add the leopards to their scoring pile.  And if there are no leopards presents, the rhinos will instead scare away the ostriches (5), and if that slot is also empty they’ll chase away the giraffes (4)... The elephants (8) of course are big enough to chase anyone away.
The mice (1) are too small to chase away any of the other animals -- except for the fact that, as everyone knows, elephants are afraid of mice, so a group of mice can chase away any number of elephants -- but only elephants.
The game often begins in a sort of “cold war,” with everyone playing conservatively, trying to sculpt their hand without adding too much scoring materiel to the board, until more and more points have been deployed, and finally someone is forced to act -- which creates a bigger stack for someone else to either grow, or to take for themselves. It gives the game a wonderful sense of tempo: there’s a slow build-up, followed by a series of high-scoring turns where you try to cash in as much as possible while hoping that you won’t be the first player at the board to “fizzle out.”  And if you do fizzle out, then you get to play “defense,” creating small stacks to create buffers and “play defense” and limit the scoring opportunities for other players.
Tumblr media
Circus Flohcati (2-5 players, 15-20 minutes)
Rethemed in Japan as  なつのたからもの (Treasures of Summer), featuring the many beautiful cards shown above which depict the various joys of summer, including fireworks, eating watermelon, visiting the beach, and so on.  (The English versions of Circus Flohcati are themed around a flea circus, and the various versions range from annoyingly cartoonish, to the debatably offputting illustrations of the 2016 English 2nd edition where all the members of the flea circus have human bodies and insect heads, like something out of a Cronenberg movie.)  Also, the Japanese cards have much better quality/texture.
Circus Flohcati is a game that is much more fun in practice than I would have expected from reading the rulebook before my first playthrough.  Technically speaking, there’s not much in the way of interaction, which is often how you get games with a “multiplayer solitaire” feel, where people feel at liberty to get up from the table and get a drink (or otherwise not pay attention to the game) when it’s not their turn. However, in practice, that rarely happens in Flohcati.  Part of it comes from the fact that you need to pay attention to what cards other people are picking up -- at the end of the game, you only score the highest card for each suit, and seeing someone else pick up a white 6 might clue you in as to how likely they might be willing to pass on a white 5.  There’s also 9 cards in the 89 card deck that allow for direct interaction, allowing you to do things like force another player to give you a card of their choosing or at random, so if you see someone take a card that you wanted, you should (and will) remember that fact for later.  (This is the only form of direct player interaction.)  Players also can get points for completing sets, so you want to be aware of what other people are taking.  (If you see someone else going after all the 3′s, maybe you don’t want to veer into their lane and compete with them for 3′s. Or maybe, if you’re seated to their right, you do want to compete with them and deny them the last one that they need to complete their set.)
But, more fundamentally, everyone pays attention during each other player’s turn because each turn feels exciting, because it’s a press-your-luck game: you can pick a face-up card from the table, but if you don’t like what you can see, you can flip over a new card -- with the stipulation that if you flip over a new card that matches a suit that’s already on the board, you “bust” and forfeit your turn.  There are 10 suits, so flipping over a new card when there’s 2 suits visible gives you a ~20% chance of busting (fairly safe), but the danger quickly increases...each card flip feels tense, and it’s fun to watch as other people at the table get greedy and either get rewarded or punished for their greed.
When reading the rulebook for the first time, the level of decision-making in this game didn’t strike me as something that would be all that interesting, but when playing, it strikes a good balance: the decisions are simple, but they’re fast and often quickly lead to other decisions as you ratchet up the risk and tension. As Knizia titles go, it’s not the deepest game, but every turn (including your opponents’) feels exciting and engaging.
Tumblr media
Trendy (2-5 players, 20 minutes)
If you want to get your hands on a copy of this game, the 2021 Japanese version might actually be the easiest to find, as the only other versions are the original 2000 German release, and the 2004 version which was released in English.
The rules are simple: on your turn, you play out a numbered card face up. Once the table has collectively assembled a “complete set,” everyone who played cards as part of that set gets to score them, and all other cards that don’t match the trend get discarded. (A “complete set” requires a number of cards equal to the face value of the cards: three 3′s is a complete set, as is four 4′s, five 5′s, six 6′s, or seven 7′s.) Each card scores equal to its face value, so making higher numbers trend is harder, but more rewarding if you can pull it off.  Mixing things up are a few cards that count as two cards, and a few “out” cards that will discard all cards of a specific number from play.
Out of all of the games, it’s the one I feel the least compelled to go back and replay, as it lends itself to somewhat repetitive play patterns. And yet, as game designer, I kind of love this game for achieving what few games do, and that is perfectly communicating its theme through its gameplay.
In Trendy, you are often left in a quandary like this one: the table has just been cleared, and the player to your right has just played a 7. You also have a 7 -- so maybe you want to hop on that trend so that when the 7′s score, you won’t be left out. On the other hand, the person who played the first 7 probably has multiple 7′s in hand. If you play your own 7, you’ll be scoring 7 points for yourself, but you might be helping that opponent score 14 or even 21 points! Better to go under them with a low card like a 3 or a 4 -- you’ll score fewer points, but you’ll punish the player who played a 7.
So you play the 3. And then you watch in horror as the next two players also play 7′s, followed by the original player, playing a fourth 7. Now, 7′s are very close to trending -- will you stubbornly try to undercut them with a 3 and try to make 3′s trend first?  Or will you accept the inevitable, hop on the bandwagon, and add your 7 to the pile so you can at least walk away with 7 points (knowing that your opponents will probably be walking away with more)? But what if the table doesn’t collectively have seven 7′s -- what if your opponents don’t have that final 7, and by hopping on the trend, you’re actually helping them score cards that might have otherwise been dead in their hand?
That, in a nutshell, is Trendy -- like the name (and artwork/theme suggests), it is a game about watching as trends catch on, and being left in the tension of getting peer pressured into hopping on a trend out of fear of getting left behind, versus the decision to break from the crowd and try to start a new trend that catches on faster. And, of course, with each person who hops on the bandwagon, the trend only grows stronger and harder to buck. You don’t want to be left out, but the later you join a trend, the less cred you get for being part of the “in” group. The person who starts the trend often collects bigger rewards than all of the followers, so it’s better to be the king of the 3′s than the fourth person to jump on the 6 train. And because higher numbers are worth more points, the more unlikely a trend is, the more you get rewarded for starting it. The gameplay is such a perfect encapsulation of the game’s theme that I’m kind of left in awe.
And yet, there’s only so many times you can watch those stories play out before you start to get a “been there, done that” feel. Having played over a dozen hands of this game, I’ve enjoyed the time I’ve spent playing Trendy, and I’m happy to recommend of for the reasons above, but I’m not sure it’s a game that I’m sad to see leave my collection. (On the other hand, my sister loves this game and will probably be introducing many more people to it.) It’s a great game to introduce to new people who can play it for 15-60 minutes, then get to say goodbye to the game before they have a chance to grow tired of it -- and in a way, isn’t that exactly what you want out of a “gateway” game?
