Was "There is a dog. The dog cannot talk." a deliberate shriekcast shout out. cuz it made me lose my mind. Your writing rules
i'm glad that didn't go unappreciated :-)

Oh, i feel the same (from what i’ve seen so far) and i guess in this hypothetical, while you could sort of touch on these qualities in the one chapter that he’d be alive, you wouldnt really get the deep character development that (i assume) will come (at most its something like a realization he can have thanks to kaede that will be a bittersweet conclusion to his life). But sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the sake of playing a spunky lesbian piano girl

I've touched on something similar before, but I was rereading some of the old geneverse power request flash-fics and I think the whole concept of powers not being sentient per se but "urging" their usage and also affecting the very way coldlit people perceive the world is kind of fascinating as a fantastical, cosmic horror-flavored reflection of the ways power, access, influence, etc and also technology shape and contour the way people behave (cont.)
(cont.) in ways that are insidiously subtle and all the more dangerous for it, the way these various things kind of *itch* to be employed like a restless new limb, for better or worse. You can see that idea in all sorts of discussions, about capital and politics and war and fame and prestige and empire and hierarchies and so forth... I don't know whether the intent was there but I think that's a really neat detail in the Geneverse setup!
What a good piece of analysis! [Nods sagely] Sometimes, tools make things better, but sometimes they make things worse.
Less glibly, I rarely go into a piece of writing saying "this is a metaphor for [X]" (I find doing so uninteresting, at least for my own writing process), but metaphors and analogies do often emerge, don't they?
I spoke back here about Tool Use and Powers and Tools With Personalities. Do powers in the Geneverse want to be used? Can they 'want', in a way that means anything to the way human minds work? Do they think?
These are the sorts of in-universe questions that keep researchers on superhumans up at night.

I see, thanks again! Honestly I'm just hankering to see some Pauli Tunes at some point if only because Something about her as a character eludes me in a way that leaves me very intrigued and fascinated, hohoh. I think the abstract nature of many song lyrics is a great way to Imply something through their use but accidentally spoiling something is always a risk, so I getcha! Have a good one, chief! o7
As a special treat here are a bunch of Paulina songs!!
Landscape (Demo) by Florence + the Machine [link]
Cause she's just like the weather
Can't hold her together
Borne from dark water
Daughter of the rain and snow
Control by Halsey [link]
I'm bigger than my body
I'm colder than this home
I'm meaner than my demons
I'm bigger than these bones
Monument by Röyksopp & Robyn [link]
This will be my monument
This will be a beacon when I'm gone
Soon when that moment comes,
I can say I did it all with love
Baptism by Crystal Castles [link]
This is your baptism
And you can't forgive 'em
Play With Fire by The Birthday Massacre [link]
And every night
The red light
Will burn like your eyes
Our time is never
Cause we'll live forever
Destroy Everything You Touch by Ladytron [link]
What you touch you don't feel
Do not know what you steal
Destroy everything you touch today
Please destroy me this way
Lyndia by General Ghost [link]
They gathered sticks from the woods
and started a fire
Not a question of whether they should
condemn the outsider
Your superstition has made up its mind
Tied to the stake is a clean sacrifice
You'll Find a Way (Switch & Sinden Remix) by Santigold [link]
Don't reach too far
You will fall over
Don't be surprised what you discover
Don't fear your call
Can't pull us under
You better watch out, run for cover
Signal 30 by Public Service Broadcasting [link]
You're driving a little too fast
and have a false sense of confidence
Watch it
Guillotine by YADi [link]
I don't need blue blood running through my veins
Because like a queen, like a queen
I can make you say you love me
I Go Hard, I Go Home by The Presets [link]
Forget about the things you want
Forget about your hopes and dreams
Focus on the here and now
Just think who we could have been
Choke by I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME [link]
Now shut your dirty mouth
If I could burn this town
I wouldn't hesitate
To smile while you suffocate and die
And that would be just fine
this is about half the playlist but i think the vibe comes across haha. enjoy!!

@spectershaped replied to your post “oh yeah, what was that uh- i think stella was in...”:
Do you still have the songlists you made for that one? I remember they had some real bangers there
when Playmoss stopped being useful I took screens of everything as backup. I don’t have these back up in a listenable sense, but the lists are at least still there. here’s an Imgur album of them, with covers to help distinguish them.
...for story reference, ch. 6 was when The Twist was planned to be revealed.

They say, around the stables, that tumblr user spectershaped has started watching The Venture Bros... And that he says he'll get around to finally reading Rice Boy any day now, but who knows, him being him...

KNOCKING on locked castle door, rosie finds sleepy lilt of clinking glasses disturbed ‘pon the sound, apron is already discarded over the counter, ginger locks half-fallen from pins that dig into her skull, the click of the lock is quiet, door opens an inch, rosie’s voice begins on a harsh note, “we’re CLOSED--” but pause comes quickly, features are recognised and door opens further, “john? are you alright?” she steps aside, a silent invitation for him to come in, “...why are you calling so late?”

I feel obligated to tell you that I've been reading Astro City and one character makes a reference to a fictional Inherit the Wind musical and it immediately reminded me of your forays into musical history
Ehehe, glad to be The Musical Person for you. But huh, is there a particular reason they chose “inherit the wind” I wonder? It seems like an odd thing to make up, in terms of. Well, okay, I don’t know how deep a cut inherit the wind is, but it seems weirdly specific. If they wanted to reference like a musical that has to do with courtrooms, then I guess there’s not a lot to choose from…Legally Blonde does, of course, and so does Wind in the Willow, Something Rotten…I think Pippin has one, maybe? And the toy trial in Mary Poppins probably counts. But I guess all of those are all very much not serious. Do you think it’s like a throwaway gag, as in the idea of a musical adaptation of such a source material is the joke? Or is it something that somehow relates the themes of the comic, or both?

Did you know there is a Perry Mason episode called The Case of the Drowning Duck. Don't worry, the duck lives, it's just that mean party trick of de-oiling its feathers. Also the duck has basically no bearing on the actual case. But it did make me think of you
I didn’t know, I’ve never watched perry mason, but I’m so glad the duck lived. I hope the duck sues whoever did that to its feathers. I hope perry was the attorney.
I did read this ask when I woke up in the middle of the night and I think when i fell asleep again soon after I had a dream about ducks. There were ducklings. There was a significant segment with a lot of tension where I feared one of the ducklings drowned and the mother duck was so sad and worried and I was sad too but it turned out fine the duckling survived

Hey Mx. G, a fellow fan was asking about the Inhibit character/story mixes that you once posted to one of the various websites that are now a shadow of their former selves if that; do you still have the song lists? Thanks!
This is an incredibly timely ask because I actually just archived the Patreon posts breaking those playlists down!! I don't have actual accessible listenable playlists because it's all on my itunes but I did list most of the songs and included youtube links to them here so you can make your own playlists out of them if you want - the archive has Victor, Masha, Julia, David, and bonus Urquhart songs.
Now I'm just on a roll talking about playlists haha. I didn't include every character song on these playlist breakdowns because some of them were spoilery (though they were posted in 2019 so four years later we have learned more stuff). I've been considering updating them with the rest of the songs and also finally posting Paulina and Nate's playlists too, which were also way too spoilery at the time.
As a fun bonus fact I've had the Victor playlist on my itunes for like 13 years at this point lmao
ALSO also I love listening to character playlists/mixes, it used to be one of my favourite ways to find new music, so if anyone ever puts together a fanmix for Inhibit I'll pass out. There is no truer love than someone saying "hey this song reminded me of you", except for someone saying "hey this song reminded me of your character".

ALSO speaking of Umineko I recently finished it and I would like to know who your favorite characters from it are
haha, nice, i hope you enjoyed it!
hm...it's been a while, to be honest, don't know if I can answer this well, but I remember liking George...I sort of end up liking a lot of mild guys I think. Beatrice is great of course. So is Battler because even if he's a sucker, by virtue of being the protag he gets to show off some smarts and i appreciate that in a character. amongst the adults I think I liked Eva and Hideyoshi. And maybe Natsuhi?? I feel like I would've liked Kyrie more if she had some more focus, but I think she never really got a lot going on. I cried over Maria the most. I preferred Lambdadelta over Bernkastel.
