twelve years ago I started a fan art of Alistair (when I had a big stupid crush on him at 19 lol) where he was flustered over… something I can’t remember lol, but I left the file untouched since then for whatever reason. I’ve been feeling Dragon Age-y lately and my drawing hiatus has mostly ended, so I felt it was my duty to return to this with 12 years of experience under my belt ♥️

So, has any part of the plot changed from the first time you wrote the story? Has the plot changed from your long hiatus to now?

[Short answer? Yes. Long answer? Oh my good lord, yes. Long post, so this one's getting a readmore and no bold text. Why DID that start, anyway? I think it's just more legible on the web theme. Anyhow--]

I don't have any of the papers it was conceptualized on anymore because I was probably in fourth grade or so, but believe me when I say the idea for this story is pretty old. There's not a lot I can divulge this early in because I don't want to spoil all the fun, but what I can do is give you some bullet points from the EARLIEST rendition that are No Longer Applicable in any format:

-Knuckles was the big bad. Yes, really. This is no longer the case. Who is it now? We'll find out together, won't we! -I had offed much of the main cast for... reasons?? Mostly just angst. Glad we did away with that. Mostly because one of those was Sonic. Lmao. -The whole thing was riddled with fan characters as the main heroes. While I love FCs dearly, they are not the focus of the story anymore, even though this AU is canon-adjacent. -The main setting took place in a city that had been submerged in water, with a sprawling ice-cave complex surrounding it. This idea has been reworked and recycled. More on that later!

The character designs have been changed SO much over the years, and one of them in particular got his design updates through an RP blog I used to run! If you know it from the Olden Times, no, no you don't, but it's taking all of my self control to not get back into the scene so I'm gonna need either a good or a bad influence here.

But TLDR nowadays the plot is actually mostly FINISHED, as opposed to 'let's just go page by page and see what happens'. A lot of that is thanks to my cool-as-ice editor and partner in crime, @skeblinn!! Lots of late nights hashing out the minutiae.

Thanks for giving me the chance to chat a bit about the process! I'll see if I can't dig out some old concepts as we get a bit further in :]

oh the consumption of wuvvy’s love. how it eats her up inside and rue too. wuvvy wants everything to be just so, to be perfectly right for rue, not just in the physical world but internally. wuvvy would rearrange the furniture of rue’s mind if she could, tidy and clean their worries and concerns, dust away their fears. her devotion is huge and isn’t that terrifying, in a way, to stare into that maw. i just love how big her feelings are, and despite how much rue loves her in return they need more than pure devotion - needs a willingness to come to the plate and be vulnerable too, share her mess with them instead of always managing theirs. but in a way her love for them eclipses her ability to give them that because doing so would be acknowledging herself as equal partner, something she can’t bring herself to do. pride for her love, her capacity to love bigger and more giving than anyone, to bleed herself empty without asking - but rue doesn’t want that. they want someone to build something with, not to have everything built for them. gorgeous, truly gorgeous how oscar conceptualized both of these characters twisted up like vines with one another and then he and aabria knocked it out of the park performing the dynamic which is so understated and incredibly complex. when i say aabria & oscar ruewuvvy deep dive when i’m not kidding!!! i’m still in their clutches!!

Cooling down now and I’m very happy to say I had a very good birthday ^_^ I lowkey get worried about it because I always joke that my birthday is cursed because something almost always goes wrong or I just have a shitty day but today the curse is broken!!!! I get weird about it for that reason and also because euhg I hate attention and I usually don’t tell many people. Soup didn’t know till today but still drew me something and it was so sweet I think my heart melted ^_^ Frankie pre ordered me the makeship mothiva plush MONTHS and months ago (she has the zasp one to match!) and it was supposed to come a little AFTER my birthday and she said it was a really really early birthday gift .. I can’t believe it got delivered exactly on my birthday ??? That’s so crazy!!! I got a check which is always nice and I finally got a ipad for drawing woo !!! I’ve been wanting one forever since drawing on my phone is 1. Not fun 2. Very bad for my wrists so this will fix those two problems I just need to get used to it ^_^ also now I can play roblox on it with my sister YIPPEE! Got to sleep in and had a yummy dinner I DIDNT GET TO PLAY ROR2 AND FORT WITH MY BESTIE FRIEND cos we had to leave so early for dinnar :( but she said we could play tomorrow so it’s ok … some stuff I ordered should ALSO come tomorrow … yippee!!!
