VILLAIN ARC WUVVY WHEN????? wuvvy who so nearly had rue’s heart and lost it so abruptly to some military man who they’d only known a minute, wuvvy who moved courts for rue but rue doesn’t even want to be associated with the court she moved to, wuvvy who is doing ever increasing amounts of work with no credit, wuvvy who can’t even look rue in the eyes anymore, wuvvy who spends time off the clock with apollo and suntar….. it’s all coming together and i for one love to see it

A prediction for Wuvvy's heel turn that's been lurking in my brain since the duel but seeming more and more possible with each episode:

somewhat rambling character study comic i did in a mini sketchbook last night -- i know myself and i knew this would never get out of the sketch phase, so i just cleaned it up a bit. concept is that wuvvy is a text-aware character in a play who stops mid-scene to address the audience, knowing the playwright is somewhere in attendance.

His eyes catch hers and hold them, and Wuvvy realizes she has been something of a fool. Loath as she is to admit it, she and Hob are birds of a certain feather: if she could read him, he can certainly read her. They are beautiful eyes.

i’ve seen so many posts from all parts of the hating/supporting Wuvvy spectrum, and like, the lack of nuance in fandom spaces never fails to amaze me, but i haven’t seen many trying to approach where Rue is so i wanted to give my take!

i’ve seen many people frustrated with Rue’s lack of trust in Wuvvy, especially because of their long history together, but with tonight’s explicit confirmation that Wuvvy has feelings for them and Rue knows she does, i have to say that unreciprocated romantic feelings always change the nature of a friendship. having had a few different people confess their feelings to me at a time when we were friends and i would only ever see them as a friend, it’s impossible to let yourself get as close to that person ever again lest you give them the impression that you feel the same way as they do. i think Rue’s holding back from Wuvvy, their concern with her silence and withdrawn nature, and Rue’s distrust of Wuvvy when they hear that Wuvvy is going to be their replacement— all makes perfect sense to me. the relationship has shifted and the crack between them was formed from the first moment Rue noticed Wuvvy’s feelings for them, and the duel made the split even wider.

Hob is the first person who Rue has met that doesn’t have an obligation to please them. the Goblin Court is already known to be angry with the Court of Wonder so he doesn’t have to pretend to respect Rue— and yet he does! he respects them for themself, not for the court they represent and not for the position they hold. he sees them in a way that no one else has. and between Wuvvy and Rue there will always be the distance of privilege and position, Rue will always be a mentor to Wuvvy, not her equal. and even though Wuvvy’s feelings towards them have deepened, Rue’s haven’t. they can’t overcome that feeling of service and mentorship, the idea that Wuvvy is obligated to them, when to Rue love is all about equal footing, and as they continually say, love must be reciprocated. all that being said, i loved that Wuvvy ripped up the letter, i live for the drama, and to quote Emily if Wuvvy turns heel i think i might cum! i love a heartsick satyr clutching desperately to the person she loves as they try and slip into the arms of another! i love that shit! anyways, that’s all i have to say on it, i just love good GOOD character interactions and arcs, god bless this pack of pixies.
