oh also also, baghera getting increasingly french at the end of the timer was so fucking funny and i love her so much, like when her and phil fought and phil killed her and her accent thickened until she abandoned words and made french noises CHEF'S KISS reminds me of when she played outlast w cellbit slime and jaiden and got progressively more french as the night wore on, genuinely had a blast hearing her progressively dropping more and more swears in french
also reminds me of something i THINK i remember, think it was her who said during brazil she kept accidentally speaking french to people because of how close she felt to them

Bishop Myriel in 1.1.4: Être un saint, c'est l'exception; être un juste, c'est la règle. Errez, défaillez, péchez, mais soyez des justes.
Being a saint is an exception; being (a person who is) just is the rule. Err, fail, sin, but be just.
Javert in 1.6.2: Mon Dieu! c'est bien facile d'être bon, le malaisé c'est d'être juste.
My God! It's easy being good, it's difficult to be just.
---
my brain doesn't work atm but I'm gonna leave this here and maybe come back to it later. but you know something something about two different men walking two different paths and considering "being just" different things; the law of God/humanity (i.e. treating everyone just = equally) vs the law of man/authority & the ruling system (i.e. justice is there to protect the 'right people')

I love love love that the ccs will be forced to use the translator in order to communicate with the new ccs joining qsmp because that’s what it’s there for!!!!! it’s a translator!!! use it to translate, even if both of you are able to speak the same language!
I don’t see enough people use the translator, especially when the ccs are both able to speak (usually) english, and it’s still great that they can speak easier if they speak the same language, but the language barrier is one of the causes for the creation of the qsmp! Let the language barrier be a barrier in the first place, and let the translator do the work it was meant to do!
Let people who physically can’t speak the same language interact! It’s part of what makes qsmp qsmp, and even though it has impacted hugely just from adding people who generally create content and talk in different languages, I do think it somewhat lacks in the people speaking different languages category, because while that is true, it is also somewhat untrue in that all of the ccs can speak one of the same language (usually english), even if they’re not a natural at it!
Now, that’s not a bad thing at all! But, it does blur the speaking different languages problem that was meant to occur in qsmp. They speak different languages! Let them speak whatever language they want and let the translator do the work! Again, that is what it is there for! It is a translator! (I’m looking at you twitter)
And even if it takes a million repeats of the same sentence for someone to finally get what another person is trying to say, a hundred fuck-ups of the translation or a thousand language barrier/cultural miscommunications, again, qsmp was made for this to happen! It was made so people who come from different backgrounds and are usually unable to interact because of cultural/language barriers can interact, whether it start out negative or positive!
And I trust them (the ccs and fans) to communicate if controversy/confusion happens culturally and language-wise, and (hopefully) for the fans to not turn anything minor** into a huge drama, so I am extremely excited to see the ccs be forced into using the translator!

Thinking about the ikepri boys using French since rhodolite is very heavily based of France (and a little bit of England?)
Like Licht saying « je t’adore » or Clavis calling you « ma douce » or Gilbert calling you « Mademoiselle lapine » with a light German accent

YA'LL I'M AT MY LIMIT— Someone came today and said "why do you want to defend Latin and Greek so much? They aren't of any use" AND SIR I'M SORRY TO BREAK IT TO YOU. BUT YOU'RE SPANISH. YOUR LANGUAGE COMES FROM LATIN. USE LATIN INSTEAD OF COPYING ENGLISH WORDS. And then he went and made it worse saying "ok fine, Latin is useful, whatever you say. But Greek? What do you need Greek for?" LIKE DUNNO. IT'S A FUCKING ACTUAL LANGUAGE SPOKEN IN AN ENTIRE COUNTRY WITH YEARS OF HISTORY. PERHAPS THE FACT THAT MANY SPANISH WORDS COME FROM IT. DUNNO BUDDY. IS THAT USEFUL ENOUGH TO YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT???

Y'all: French is such a weird language
Me, helping my little sister with her English homework: how the heck did I ever learn English, none of this make sense.
I've been thinking a lot about Sofía Vergara's line in Modern Family lately: "Do you know how frustrating it is to have to translate everything in my head before I say it? To have people laugh in my face because I'm struggling to find the words? Do you know how smart I am in [French]?"
Because, like... mood. It doesn't matter how fluent I am in English, or that my friends don't mock me and are very patient with me when I'm struggling in Spanish. I'm never talking to them in my native language, so do they really know me? They've never heard me actually talk, when you consider it.
Doing my thesis defence half in Spanish half in English only made me all the more aware of how much I don't say because I can't say it.

Above is a recording of my first few sections of orals, it's linked to my podcast Google account so thankfully I won't be doxxing myself skdhsksjls, anyway yeah if you click on it you can listen :) I'm not great at pronunciation though so apologies in advance. If you're new here I have a fairly severe speech impediment, and I will take advice and corrections on pronunciation and grammar but not on how to stammer less.
Transcript under the cut:
Mistakes I made and I'm aware I made: should be la deuxième section and les études futurs.

Ohh Daniel speaks Spanish! You too?
not all that well, unfortunately! daniel speaking spanish (in-game selvadoradan) was something that developed sort of naturally? my fiance speaks spanish rather fluently & some local dialects he learned from people he's worked with, so he helps me with most of my translations and colloquialisms but i also use online translators because... i suck. :|
i am learning though! my coworkers in the kitchen and up front speak spanish and they've been teaching me a lot (i want to communicate with them more as i'm not ignorant to the fact that im a textbook gringa dskfdklfjs) and it's been a wonderful experience! i am more than open to people correcting me and letting me know what's right and what's wrong, etc. i'm very eager to learn more!✨

I really wish I'd been medicated/encouraged as a child and given the chance to learn more languages because there's a special kind of joy that comes with linguistic variety in life
