Elliptical galaxies have shapes that range from completely round to oval. They are less common than spiral galaxies.
Unlike spirals, elliptical galaxies usually contain little gas and dust and show very little organization or structure. The stars orbit around the core in random directions and are generally older than those in spiral galaxies since little of the gas needed to form new stars remains. Scientists think elliptical galaxies originate from collisions and mergers with spirals
The Saturn system is a rich planetary system. It offers mystery, scientific insight, and obviously splendour beyond compare, and the investigation of this system has enormous cosmic reach... just studying the rings alone, we stand to learn a lot about the discs of stars and gas that we call the spiral galaxies.
It is so weird having a best friend so utterly terrified of space
Not in a bad way, just
They look up into the night sky and feel nothing but fear, while I yearn to watch starts explode, planets form and feel time slow around me as I’m enveloped by a black hole’s horizon
Space is the most comforting thing I can imagine, and I can never share that comfort with them…
But at the same time they love the deep ocean which I mean- WTF is wrong with them but you know
The total solar eclipse will occur in North America today, April 8, from 1250pm to 320pm CST!
This event will not occur to this magnitude for another 20 years!
Look online to see if you're in the path of totality, stretching from Texas to Maine, but you should go outside and experience it no matter the totality!
Make sure you have protective glasses and if you're using telescopes to also have protective lenses!
