one thing i see a lot is people dislike for the Staged Disc Finale is it's lack of "purpose". "why would c!Dream do that? he's just destroying himself, not trying to dominate the world or bring about the apocalypse, that doesn't make sense!" and what i have to tell you is: yeah. but also no. he is destroying himself and losing overall "tangible" power. that's true. what makes this line of thinking flawed is that you guys see the prison as the final goal, not the main stepping stone. he never said his plan ended at Pandora's Vault. hell, from all we know, Pandora was just a check point (that went really, really wrong).

we don't know what the next step is, and it could be true that it's just dumb and not worth it at all in the end, but giving that we're all clueless i think it's pointless to make any assumptions. overall, without the additional fuckery, the whole Staged Disc Finale con was one of the smartest, most well executed plans in the server's history, both in-world and writing-wise (the foreshadowing, the theatrics, all the pieces falling into place... beautiful) and it's about time y'all stop making up reasons for why it's Bad Actually™ just because you personally don't like it/didn't see it coming.

I never realized knife-flipping could be anything more than a cheap intimidation tactic.

Have you ever seen someone knife-flipping?! That's freakin' hypnotic!

A guy at my youth group started flipping a knife, and as it flashed in the light, up and down, round and round, I practically found myself falling asleep my dudes!

Enter stories with these villains flipping polished knives, add in this freaky hypnotism, and we have our characters trying to focus on whatever they're saying, but distracted by that flashing light, or not able to focus on their face, only able to watch that flashing blade.

It's not about the knife, which is what I think I didn't realize.

It's that freaky off-balance feeling of hardly being able to control even what you look at.

And in a situation you're already creeped and off-balance? I'd... wow. If I got that freaked by a freind, imagine someone I knew wouldn't mind killing me. Who might want to.

And maybe I'm the only one just realizing this, but this...this. That added a whole new depth to when I read some creepy villain knife-flipping in the dark.
