Okay, Kungl. Hovstaterna are definitely bugging you guys & heard your complaints from last year...
I imagine Isabella (the boss of Victoria & Daniel's office) was like, "Okay, Jessica & Grace are unhappy with just one photo; what can we do to make them happy? Videos of Estelle, Oscar & Rio?! PERFECT!"
Well not to start a conspiracy theory but I have been followed on Instagram by a member of Victoria's team for a while now and the podcast is pretty popular in Scandinavia so...

It seems like I've missed some royal drama recently, why am I seeing headlines about a beef between Kelly Osbourne & the Spare? I mean, the Swedish tabloids are always a bit behind on this sort of stuff so do you or any of your nonnies know the full story?
Wait what???? Even I don't know this!!! What are they saying???? Does anyone know? What's the tea?

Victoriakonserten (The Victoria Concert) has moved to Borgholm's Castle ruins, so you & Leo are right in that it's ruins :) It's also open for visitors, have tours & even it's own gift shop: https://borgholmsslott.se/en/
The ruins are really pretty and it’s cool that the history of this Castle stretches back 800 years. Thanks for confirming, ruins always interest me! Have you ever been to Borgholm's? You should kidnap me and @leonisandmurex so we can explore the castle and learn some Scandi and Nordic history

Maybe you guys have talked about this in a podcast episode & I've just forgotten about it but, I was wondering about British royal patronages & how they work?
I know that the Swedish royals, they keep patronages for 5 years & either they part ways or renew for 5 more years. But I'm confused about the Brits 😂 like for example Queen Elizabeth, didn't she have hundreds of patronages? Similarly, Anne seems to also have a never-ending stream of patronages & whilst math isn't my strongest subject, I'm pretty sure she doesn't have the time to catch up with all of them every single year.
But if we look at Kate, she seems to have parted ways with some of her previous patronages. Do you have any more insight into how it works? I know that William & Kate are trying to have a different approach than previous generations of royals. So yeah, instead of just asking why for example Anne doesn't part ways with the ones she doesn't have time for, I'm just gonna ask how it all works?
P.S. This question was inspired by WaterAid Sweden who posted that Victoria is gonna continue to be their patron for another 5 years. It's not because Just Harry called himself a royal patron of WellChild. I'm also jealous of Anne's work ethic & energy but that's a different topic 😂
Ooh, we have spoken about it before but I don't remember when.
Essentially, it's a mixture. Some are for life (particularly the Royal patronages - Meghan's patronages of the National Theatre and the Association of Commonwealth Universities would probably have been for life), some are time-limited (like Kate's patronage of NursingNow2020 or W, K & H's patronage of the 100 Women Trust), and some are on a rolling basis, like Victoria's WaterAid one (Harry's London Marathon patronage was on a rolling basis). Also, some of their patronages naturally end because the charities close or merge with another (a fair few of Kate's patronages - like The Art Room or Action on Addiction - have done this!)
Most of their patronages are somewhere between "for life" and "rolling basis" - if we take Kate's patronage of Place2Be as an example (I have no idea if Place2Be is like this or not), but it would be a case that they'd take her on as a Patron and expect it to continue for life, but they'd review her role on a regular basis (every year/3 years/5 years/something like that) and decide whether to keep her on or not.
I think it's more effort to ditch them so that's why Anne has hundreds of patronages. She does work for a lot of them (and having Anne as a patron is good PR if anyone happens to spot it while looking at your charity) but it's probably more effort to remove her from your lighthouse charity than there is to keep her and her just not turn up!

It's got to be this one for me!
They're all squished in together, the wood background, Louis' joyful smile, ah just perfect 🥰🫶

🍾 = favourite christmas/festive one-off
I loved the Christmas Royal train tour of 2020! As much as I love that the Carol concert has become a tradition, I wish they did a mini tour around the UK over the festive period! It brought so much joy!! Plus it gave us thirsty Will and Kate 🥵

Bridgerton drabble: A Princess Diaries AU
Tumblr media
Part #1 Sophie’s Choice.
A belated birthday gift for @bridgertonbabe and @sophiebernadotte
Wasn’t life as a princess supposed to be fair? Or maybe not fair, that might be the wrong word. She was privileged, she knew that… even if she had only known she was a princess for a few short years.
Royalty led lives that were in the public eye, normally having been raised in that environment, but here she was… sitting in a country that she’d only known about for 4 years, listening to her grandmother scolding her for jeopardising the wedding that was to take place in a few days time, which would then lead onto her coronation a week after that and it was all Sophie could do not to throw up or cry because she knew her grandmother was right… she had ruined everything.
She’d always dreamt she’d marry for love, that she’d find a man that made her stomach fizz, give her butterflies, that would make her heart skip a beat and her palms sweaty and her feet pop when she kissed him. She wanted the kind of love her mother had told her about, that her mother had experienced but due to the unfairness of her situation, it was an arranged marriage or lose her throne. Those were her options.
A throne that until she turned 16, she had known nothing about.
She had been blissfully unaware that her father had been a Prince… Prince of a tiny country in the middle of the Italian and French sea. Her mother had kept it from her, taking that secret with her to her grave.
Her mother had died 10 weeks before Sophie’s 16th birthday, which was the day her entire life changed.
She’d been stopping with her best friend Kate Sharma and Sophie had been in English when the poshest woman Sophie had ever seen in her life came in and dropped the bombshell of all bombshells on her over a cup of tea…
Which she promptly spat all over her “grandmother's” face.
She was a princess.
A bastard princess but a princess nonetheless, and the only living descendant of the Gunningworth line.
Her father, Richard, had passed away 9 months earlier and to Sarah’s knowledge he had been childless.
It was only after discovering something in her late-husband’s writing desk, did she learn that there was in fact an heir.
Her.
Sophie was saving the country from being taken over by the Cavender’s. Their son Phillip had a terrible temper and an even worse reputation at just 17 years old and had once been rulers of their own lands until the people revolted and won back their lands and banished the Cavender’s but their royal blood was connected to Penwood and now it was Sophie, or the Cavender’s and Sarah was determined that her throne would not pass into their hands.
She had learned that Reginald had sent Esme away when she was pregnant with Sophie, he didn’t want a child out of wedlock and he certainly didn’t want the Crown Prince, only Heir to the Throne marrying a commoner and so she’d been paid off and shipped off back to England. He provided money monthly to keep Esme quiet and Esme had been promised that she and her unborn child would be left alone and the secret of Sophie’s birth went to the grave with her.
Reginald had known about Sophie and he had been working out how to tell his wife that they did in fact have an heir and where they could find her, and what had happened, his own guilt weighing in after he’d pressured Richard into a marriage with a woman that bore no children between them other than two step-children who could not inherit the throne but when Reginald died 3 months after Richard it had thrown a spanner in the works as he’d not gotten around to telling Sarah the truth.
Sophie was dumbfounded.
Sarah was Regent, as they had their heir but she was underage and she was able to prevent Cavender getting his hands on the crown.
Since Sophie was underage she would learn the role, but upon turning 20 Sophie was told she’d have to take over the throne, she would get 6 months post her 20th birthday to marry and be crowned Queen otherwise, Cavender would take over.
So Life changed.
Gone were the days she was invisible, where she could blend into the background with Kate, sitting laughing about Shakespere and just being a teenage girl to…
Being a Princess.
She stayed in school but Kate was almost glued to her side. She worked at her studies, she travelled back and forth between the countries as she learned.
Once she was 18, Sophie moved to Penwood and Kate and her family came with her, they’d been her family when she had no one else and Kate wanted to work with Sophie, for Sophie as part of her staff once she’d graduated from University.
And Sophie knew from the moment she moved to her new home that she wanted to be Queen, that she would do anything to be Queen. Her beautiful country that she was learning to love, the rich culture and history that was hers to protect and nourish and the more time she spent there, the more she got to know the people, the more she knew she wanted to be Queen.
So between her studies, her Queen lessons with her Grandmother and getting to know the country’s leaders, she was starting to look for a husband.
Not just any husband, she needed someone titled, not in line for their own throne, someone who understood her importance as Queen. Someone harmless, inoffensive, who would stand there by her side and be a pillar of strength and a symbol but would let Sophie lead.
She would be Queen, and she knew finding a husband would be hard but she had time… or so she’d assumed. She was only 18 after all, she had two years. How hard could it be?
From the moment the plane touched down, Sophie knew that whatever she’d thought her life was going to be like, nothing compared to the circus it was becoming
.
18 turned into 19 and Sophie had still not found someone that she wanted to marry, any male around her age that would be eligible was not interested in marriage, any man she met at a bar knew who she was and wanted a piece of her as a trophy.
She was to be Queen… Everyone knew that. “Your highness, you must know there isn’t a man on this planet who isn’t interested in marrying you, but it is finding the right person for you who will make your everyday life easier, who makes the mundane fun and who makes you smile” her Prime Minister Edmund Bridgerton had told her as the days got closer to her 20th birthday and she had still not found someone to be her husband, time was running out and she was getting desperate.
“That is all well and good my Lord but I have 6 months, we have 6 months to make this work or everything has been in vain” Sophie sighed during their weekly meeting. Sophie loved meeting her prime minister, They had joked on a number of occasions it was a shame that his title came with his position and didn’t transfer to his children since he had eight of them and the two eldest boys were a little older than Sophie and Kate, she’d yet to meet Benedict who was off travelling and studying and she got on well with Anthony, who was training to take over from Charlie as the Royal Household Chief of Security once Sophie ascended to the throne.
The little wrinkle there was Anthony was dating Kate. Kate was working up to the role of Chief of Staff within the palace and eventually they would run the palace between them and despite their prickly start, Sophie thought they were perfect for one another but it served as an almost daily reminder that she didn’t have that and she needed that. 6 months to fall in love, marry to become Queen…
“There are other ways around it, your grandmother is reluctant to bring it up because she knew how much you wanted to find someone the traditional way but there is always an arranged marriage, I am sure between Ms Gibbons, your grandmother and my wife Violet, they’ll be able to come up with a list of possibilities for you. Aim for friendship first, it worked for your grandmother… love everything else, it is lovely but friendship and companionship will hold you in just as good a stead” Edmund explained
“That’s easy for you to say, you married the love of your live and have 8 children” Sophie replied flippantly but sighed “but I shall think about it, it is likely to be the only option”
“Speaking of my children…” Edmund grinned and Sophie rolled her eyes
“Smooth… what are they after this time?”
“It’s nothing actually just Benedict is back from his travels eventually this weekend after being away for the last two years studying and he is on the last portfolio for his masters and I was wondering if perhaps as a small favour we could add him to your official photographers list up to the coronation and allow him to capture some more… candid photos of the next few months”
“Why not, some candid ones will be lovely I guess after all the formal things…” Sophie said “and i’ll make sure there is a ticket to my 20th birthday party for him as well, if he is back in time that is, it would be nice to meet another of your ridiculous brood. but I will give some thought to your suggestion, having some of those possible bachelors come to the party and meet them…” Sophie sighed.
But after the events of her 20th birthday, Sophie had known it was time.
The only person she’d met the night of her birthday party, the only person she’d felt a connection with had been someone she knew she had no chance with.
She’d been walking through the party, trying to get away from Prince Hans and his incessant staring, as well as Lady Rosamund who was making snide quiet remarks about how it should be her that was going to be queen when Sophie had run straight into a stranger stomping straight on his foot, the most handsome stranger she’d ever met.
It was only after she’d danced and flirted with him and spoke to Kate, did she realise that it was Benedict Bridgerton and it had broken her heart almost instantly.
She’d assumed he was one of the many suitors her grandmother had invited for to meet so to realise who he was, that he was untitled, he was, despite being the son of a Lord, not someone Sophie could ever hope to get to know on a more intimate and romantic level… she knew based on the rules that had been set out for her future husband, it was a no go.
So the morning after her party, she’d called Kate, her grandmother, Ann Gibbons the current chief of staff and Mary and said “it’s time”
A week later she was sitting in the palace movie room with the screens up, profiles up as she looked through all the eligible bachelors that would be interested in an arranged marriage.
Two hours it had taken, going through picture after picture before Sophie had spotted one.
Yes he was a second son but he fit the bill where no one else did. He was the second son of a Duke. His older brother was already married and had twins, their line was secure, he was a Sir. He had a title, a ceremonial one but all the same…
Sir Phillip Crane was everything that Sophie had been looking for.
He was the same age as she was, he was academic, he was cute. He was someone that Sophie could see herself being at least friends with…
It was a start.
And it had turned out Phillip was everything that Sophie could have hoped for. He was kind, he was funny and they seemed to have a lot in common and Sophie knew she’d made the best possible choice…
Or she would have thought so if it wasn’t for Benedict being everywhere she went.
She’d forgotten about her agreement with the Prime Minister and being Anthony’s brother, and he seemed to get on really well with Kate. he was always there.
The torment Sophie felt was horrible, she felt attracted to Benedict in a way she knew she’d never be attracted to Phillip but she knew that she could never be with Benedict and have the life she so desperately wanted.
She wanted to be Queen, she wanted to rule this country that she’d learned so much about, that she was so passionate about and she was close to mucking it all up.
Two weeks before the wedding it all came to a head when during the summer party, Sophie had slipped away from Phillip, leaving him with Kate and Benedict’s sister Eloise as she wanted to get out of her head. Cavender’s son had been lurking and making lurid remarks about her and she just wanted 5 minutes.
She’d given her ladies maids the slip, and was just sitting on the edge of the fountain, trying not to hyperventilate.
She’d not seen Benedict at all during the party, he was employed during these events to take photos as part of her agreement with his father and she knew that it was the last thing she needed. Whilst she desperately craved him to soothe her frayed nerves, she knew being around him was making it worse.
They’d had many a spirited debate about Bryon, about poetry and art and she always seemed to know when he appeared, her skin tingled and pricked but he knew as well as she did, that whatever there was between them, wasn’t possible.
With the way the rules of the country where, fate was destined to keep them apart.
But that day… he’d caught her unaware, they’d given into a moment of weakness and kissed.
It was only when Sophie’s beloved dog Bernie, had come running through the fence with voices behind him, that they’d separated and in their shock at nearly being caught, they had tumbled into the fountain.
It had been the start of her downfall.
She’d confined Kate how she felt about Benedict, how she wished things could be different and she knew that Benedict had felt the same and how she couldn’t have him around her anymore because it was breaking her heart.
Benedict had agreed to step away, to leave his position because he knew the country needed Sophie more than he did and he would never have forgiven himself to do anything that would have ruined her dream to be Queen,
But he’d asked if he could see her one last time before he left, before he walked away and Sophie would marry Phillip and Sophie had agreed as long as no one found out.
But someone had found out. Someone had overheard and warned the press that if someone followed the Prime Minister’s son… they would find a scandal.
And whilst it wasn’t as big of a scandal as it could have been, Sophie and Benedict had just talked, shared a kiss or two, they’d fallen asleep under a tree in the grounds of the castle and it was upon waking that they’d been spotted…
And Sophie was sure her life was going to fall apart.
Sarah yelled at her for over an hour about it, about how she should not be sneaking out and despite the fact she knew how her granddaughter felt about him, she could see how devastated Sophie was about the choice.
Heart or country.
It was a choice she’d known all too well but Sophie knew what she wanted.
What was required of her… it was just a matter of if Phillip would still want to marry her.
“Phillip wait, please! Let me explain! Nothing happened” Sophie said as she ran after Phillip a few hours later after he’d arrived at the palace so they could talk.
“Yes but you went Sophie, you still went didn’t you?” he replied, his voice was strangely calm and not angry and Sophie wasn’t sure if she’d rather he’d been angry or not “I don’t think you understand… despite my geekiness as the press back home call it, I am an extremely eligible bachelor” he said, though Sophie could tell he cringed a bit at the words, knowing he didn’t like to big himself in that way. “I really am. I’ve got plenty of friends, lots of lovely… erm women friends” he said gesturing as they looked at one another
“But i… I still think marriage is a good idea.” he said and Sophie looked up at him in disbelief as Phillip’s face softened as they looked at one another,
“Sophie…” he said, before taking a step forward, placing his hands on either side of her face and kissing her.
It was the first time they’d properly kissed, it had been a brief kiss on the lips when they’d gotten engaged, the same on the balcony when they announced their engagement several weeks ago and as kisses went…
It was the most awkward kiss either of them had ever experienced.
It was like kissing a sibling. It was so awkward Sophie was sure the entire world stopped moving and she could hear the cows in the field several miles away Mooing…
Eventually Phillip pulled away and Sophie with her eyes still shut brought her hand to her lip to almost wipe the kiss off as she had Phillip looked at one another again
“So?” he asked “anything?” already anticipating the answer.
“It was lovely… just… there was no…” Sophie said
“Spark?” they said at the same time and Sophie groaned as she knew what the right thing to do was.
“What are we going to do?” Sophie said her voice breaking a little as she felt herself close to tears. The wedding was a few days away, she’d come this far and now she’d thrown it all away.
Phillip sighed and took a step forward putting an arm around Sophie’s waist, rolling his eyes as the security guards shovelled up the stairs behind them
“No privacy…” Sophie grumbled.
“Sophie… you chose me… and I accepted” he said pressing an almost brotherly kiss on her head “I accepted and so we’re going to stand up in the church next week and say “I do” and become man and wife… and then you’re going to be crowned Queen of Penwood and make the most amazing Queen in the history of this great country” he said tenderly, honestly and a smile on his face that made Sophie feel like perhaps everything could be okay.
“Thank you” she whispered as she kissed his cheek as she smiled back at him.
This was it. Her choice had been made. Country and Duty over her heart. Phillip was a good man and she could do a lot worse…

Lewie Drabble
Based off a convo with @sophiebernadotte about whether or not Lewie would ever get a tattoo:
(Post-fic AU from Off Limits)
Under the cut
“This is gonna hurt, isn’t it?” he asked.
“Yeah, babe, it’s a tattoo,” she replied, squeezing his hand. “You don’t have to do this if you d—“
Lewie stopped her, sweeping her into his arms, hugging her as he made her walk backwards. Kisses peppered her face, and she burst into furious giggles, wrapping her arms around his waist.
“I want to,” he said. “I’m so excited for it. I’m just nervous it’s gonna hurt and that the tattoo artist is gonna think I’m a pussy.”
Katie burst out laughing, squeezing him tighter. “Babe, he’s the sweetest guy ever, he’s not gonna think you’re a pussy. Besides, even if he did, he’s obsessed with cats.”
*
They stepped in to the studio, and without warning, she was swept into a hug.
“Katie!” Oliver grinned. “It’s so great to see you!!”
As best she could, she wrapped her arms around Oli’s neck, reaching up to try and bridge the entire extra foot he had on her.
“Oli, this is Lewie,” she said as they finally broke apart. “He’s your canvas today.”
Lewie stuck out his hand, but Oli swept him into a hug as well, Katie bursting into a fit of laughter once more. Never could she have expected her 6’0 boyfriend to look so much like a ragdoll, but next to the 6’5 brick house that was Oliver, he looked tiny in comparison.
*
Lewie was sat in the chair, his skin prepped, and Oliver had the stencil ready.
“So, the moment of truth,” Oliver said. “Where do you want it?”
Lewie stuck out his forearm, and pointed.
Katie gasped, grinning a mile wide. “You want it there?”
He nodded. “I want to be able to see it every day.”
She leaned in, kissing him softly, a little at a loss of what to say. But before she could say anything, the studio door flung open.
“We’re here! We’re here!!” Bec said, her usual whirlwind of energy following her. “Sorry we’re late, this one’s queasy again.”
Caden looked around the studio with a distinct gaze of unease, frowning at the needles to Olivers side.
“You really didn’t need to come,” Lewie laughed. “Oliver said it’s going to take like less than ten minutes to do.”
“Moral support, babes!” Bec grinned. “Plus, we can get ice cream after.”
Lewie’s face lit up, but immediately paled as Oli switched on the tattoo gun. But before he even had a chance to go near Lewie’s arm, Caden was throwing up into the bin.
*
Caden sorted with a glass of water and his feet up, Bec and Katie were watching with anticipation. Oliver switched on the gun, and Lewie looked away as he brought it to his wrist, biting his lip nervously. Katie couldn’t help but giggle, squeezing his other hand, and Bec was damn near crying at how cute the whole thing was.
True to his word, Oliver was finished in a little over six minutes. As soon as he announced they were done, Lewie took a deep breath, as if he hadn’t breathed the whole time.
Katie stood up to look, but Lewie covered it with his other hand, grinning a mile wide. “No, no, no peeking!”
He glanced under his hand, and couldn’t wipe the smile off his face, thanking Oliver profusely and telling him it was perfect.
And then, it was Katie’s turn.
She had no idea what Lewie had asked for. She had no idea what she was about to have tattooed on her. All she knew was that Bec had been squealing about how cute it all was for weeks.
Oliver switched out his needles, and got to work.
It was only another few minutes, and she didn’t look, not until Oliver announced that she, too, was done. She glanced at Lewie, who was beaming back at her, and she looked down.
It was a tiny, triangular corn chip, one corner dipped in cheese, and she gasped, the beautiful tribute to Nacho, her beloved golden retriever. But right there, beside it, another, smaller version.
She glanced up at Lewie, her eyes wild and wide, and he had the photo ready, turning his phone to show her the picture.
A puppy. A beautiful, perfect, tiny baby golden retriever, a pretty pink bow wrapped around her neck. She looked up at Lewie, and he beamed at her, showing her his own identical tattoo.
“Her name’s Chip,” he chuckled. “And we pick her up tomorrow.”
Katie squealed, leaping from the chair and throwing her arms around his neck, as Bec screamed with excitement and captured the whole thing on video. Oliver laughed loudly, and Caden groaned his approval, rolling his eyes a little at the gesture.
Lewie kissed her cheek, holding her tightly.
“Two dogs down—“
“Three to go,” she responded. She leaned back, looking up into the sparkling blue eyes she so fucking adored. “I love you,” she whispered. “Thank you.”
“I love you,” he whispered back. “Happy Anniversary, babe.”

I haven't even watched the interview yet but apparently Daniel does yoga in it (I swear the man is an underrated national treasure), so of course I need to ask if we will get a GIF set of that 😂
Very briefly, yes. Mostly just a bit of stretching but there’s a moment with downward dog. I am not planning to gif it as my gifs don’t really get much traction and it’s not worth the time but if I can get a moment I’ll look into it :)

Bridgerton Couples on Love Island
For @sophiebernadotte 😘
Kanthony: Anthony would be one of the OG islanders and pair up with Siena. They would have a tumultuous relationship as their differences outweighed the attraction they have for each other, and eventually she’d pair up with someone else leaving Anthony to kiss and flirt his way through the other girls in the villa; and then cue the arrival of bombshell sisters Kate and Edwina. All the boys are immediately drawn to the younger sister though Anthony finds himself far more drawn to Kate and can’t seem to understand why no one else is seeing what he’s seeing in her. They flirt playfully for all of 12 hours until the islanders are playing a challenge of reading out quotes that have been said in the villa and guessing who said them; and Anthony’s bullish requirements of what he expects from a woman are read out, leaving Kate pissed. They have a massive argument about it and she keeps his distance from him, much to his chagrin. To get back at her for showing him up in front of everyone, however, he decides to pair up with Edwina at the next recoupling. Edwina’s not particularly interested in him, having been more into Lumley, but she decides to give him a chance at least, much to her sister’s horror. When Anthony and Edwina go on a date it becomes painfully obvious just how dead their conversations are and that there is no real attraction between them - but it doesn’t stop Anthony winding up Kate by boasting how good their date went. The TV audience would live for the passion-fuelled arguments the pair get into and how they both live to torment the other. It’s only during Casa Amor when the girls are away that Anthony realises he has 0 interest in any of the new girls and decides to stick with Edwina during the recoupling. Edwina returns to the villa with Matty Bagwell but Anthony isn’t actually that bothered by this - no, he’s far more bothered when Kate returns to the villa with Thomas Dorset - and it’s only then that he finally recognises that Kate’s been the one for him all along. As one of the only single people in the villa, Anthony gets the chance to take an islander of his choice on a date; and naturally he picks Kate, which comes as a shock to no one else but Kate. During the date Kate’s defences fall as Anthony opens up and shows her a more sensitive side than what he’s shown so far and she realises he’s far softer than she ever thought him capable to be. Back at the villa they spend more and more time together, sniping far less without losing their love for teasing one another, and then at the next recoupling Kate chooses to recouple with him over Thomas. As soon as they’re in a couple they’re kissing and cuddling and full on making out all across the villa, but what drives the TV audience wild is during the talent show when Kate is giving an absolutely horrendous flute performance, the camera pans to Anthony gazing at her with complete adoration. People would be tweeting “oh so he’s in love love” and then that night they get picked to go to the Hideaway and well, let’s just saying Kate plays with another flute that night...
Benophie: Benedict would initially be paired up with Gen and while the pair have good fun and banter, they both acknowledge that the spark they’re looking for just isn’t there. He next couples up with Tessa but again, while the sexual chemistry is there, there’s still something missing and once more the pair end things on friendly terms. Benedict would be the islander everyone at home is rooting for, wanting the perfect girl to walk in for him (but he’s not cringe or disappointing a la Dr Alex or Hugo lmao). At the next recoupling he’s the only boy not picked and he’s fully expecting to get dumped until he gets a text telling him Sophie is waiting just outside of the villa for their date; and when he arrives and sees her, he knows all at once that she’s what he’s been waiting for. The conversation flows, they’re both giddy around each other and just from that one date the audience want them to win. During the next few days some of the guys try chatting to Sophie but all she sees is Benedict and they’re practically attached at the hip, trading kisses and playing with each other’s hands. When the recoupling comes, Benedict has no hesitation who he’s going to pick - but he’s left in turmoil when Phillip Cavender gets to pick first and throws a cat among the pigeons by coupling up with Sophie. Everyone is left shook and Benedict has no choice but to be saddled with Prudence in a couple, but luckily his bed is right next to Sophie’s and they hold each other’s hand when they go to sleep. During the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge, Sophie makes it clear that not only is she not interested in Cavender but she’s repulsed by him and pies him with a lot of force, before breaking the rules and opting to marry and snog Benedict just to prove a point. During Casa Amor Benedict sleeps in the day bed along with Hugh Woodson, unable to stand the thought of sharing a bed with anyone but Sophie, and he’d make the audience’s hearts melt when he professes “I miss her” to Hugh. He spends the entirety of their stay at Casa Amor pouting and moping, and whenever any of the new girls try chatting to him all he can talk about is Sophie and how much he likes her. When he returns to the main villa, he’s hopeful that she hasn’t found anyone else, and he wells up as soon as he sees that she’s stood by herself waiting for him. He doesn’t even bother talking to the host, running past her to catch Sophie in his arms and kiss her passionately. That night in bed when everyone else is asleep Benedict asks her to be his girlfriend and she happily accepts, and then, without any fanfare, he tells her he loves her and she returns the sentiment, and the pair kiss before falling asleep in each other’s arms.
Polin: Colin arrives as a bombshell and is immediately taken with Marina. They couple up but it takes a while for him to realise that he’s far more into her than she is into him, as she’s still not over George Crane, who she had a falling out with prior to Colin’s arrival. Though disheartened, Colin steps aside for them to get back together. He spends the next few weeks charming his way into other couples and entertaining the audience with his quips and his talking heads in the Beach Hut, but he doesn’t find a girl who he truly clicks with - at least, that’s what the audience think. Behind the scenes, Colin has grown a fondness for Penelope, the crew member who runs the Beach Hut and who will prompt the contestants if needed. Colin finds himself preferring her company over the rest of the islanders and will spend a couple of hours at a time holed up in the Beach Hut just to entertain her and even get her to forget her job and chat away with him. Soon the best part of his day is spending time with her and he makes multiple trips to the Beach Hut just to see her. It’s not until one day that it’s brought to Penelope’s attention by the mic guy that one of the other contestants, Fife, had been teasing Colin about his constant trips to the Beach Hut and inferring that Colin was crushing on Penelope, when Colin had scoffed that he was far from interested in the red-headed crew member. Having fallen for him, Penelope is devastated and swaps duties with someone else, no longer able to be around Colin. None the wiser, Colin is crushed when he next traipses to the Beach Hut and finds the grumpy middle aged Varley in charge of asking questions instead of his Pen. During his time at Casa Amor surrounded by the new girls desperate to vie for his attention, Colin finds himself bored and uninterested, comparing all of them to Penelope; and only then does it hit him that it’s Penelope he’s in love with. Back at the main villa he holes himself up in the Beach Hut and refuses to leave until he can see Penelope, who eventually storms in with a face like thunder and berates him for causing problems for production. Left alone in the small room, Penelope brings up what she heard him say to Fife and how it hurt her to hear him be so dismissive of her. He apologises and assures her he only said it to stop Fife pestering him and then floors her by telling her he’s in love with her. She tries to dismiss him, telling him the heat must have got to him and that the other islanders are much more his type, but he proves his sincerity by kissing her, and playfully tells her he won’t stop kissing her until she believes him. Penelope teases him by saying she doesn’t quite believe him and so he continues to kiss her and kiss her and eventually the rest of the production crew are confused why it’s taking so long for Penelope to sort the contestant out - until they all hear guttural moaning from the locked room. Penelope gets fired but she doesn’t mourn her job loss for long as Colin declares he’s leaving the villa to be with her, and the pair continue their summer holidaying around the Mediterranean. The audience have no idea what really went on or why Colin suddenly decided to leave until he posts a video on his Youtube channel a year later where he introduces Penelope and they share their story with the public - naturally, the viewers lose their shit but are so happy that Colin found the right woman for him.
Saphne: By some terrible misfortune, Daphne is forced into a couple with Nigel Berbrooke after everyone else is partnered up on the first day; but then that evening Simon enters the villa as the bombshell and without even chatting with any of the girls, steals Daphne to couple up. There’s a bit of drama with Nigel insisting just because Daphne’s now coupled up with Simon doesn’t mean she can’t still get to know him, but Simon points out that Daphne’s got to actually want to get to know Nigel. Despite finding him a bit up himself (and vice versa), Daphne sticks with Simon when she gets to pick at the next recoupling, each of them finding solace by having the other as a safety net. Every new guy who comes in shows interest in Daphne and while she humours them, she keeps finding herself coming back to Simon to laugh and chat with. They insist they’re just a friendship couple but the TV audience know better, and it isn’t until they kiss in a challenge that they both realise there’s something more there. They get closer and become more romantic but Simon’s insecurities get the better of him and he pushes her way. She ends up being comforted by the newest bombshell, Friedrich, and chooses to couple up with him (despite the fact Cressida had opined she intended to couple up with him). It’s only seeing Daphne with another guy that Simon grows jealous and realises he likes her far more than he was letting himself believe. The tension between them is still there and it’s not until a sneaky kiss on the terrace that Cressida sees and goes around telling everyone about that they decide to get back together. Just before Casa Amor, however, Daphne mentions wanting to have children one day, which leads to Simon breaking the news to her that he doesn’t. It’s a massive deal-breaker and they end things before he leaves for Casa Amor. During their time away, neither one meets anyone who they’re as into, and despite parting ways they both remain single at the end of the week. They stay in their couple but before they do anything they have a deep conversation with Simon opening up about his fears of becoming just like his father, but telling Daphne he loves her so much that he wants to work on his issues in order to be with her and one day be in a position to also want kids; if she’s willing to be patient with him. Daphne assures him she is, telling him she loves him too, and they reunite. Then during the baby challenge Daphne enjoys spending the day seeing after Augie, but what she enjoys most is seeing how focused Simon is at the task at hand. In spite of his parental anxieties, Simon takes the role very seriously and takes great care with his plastic fake son so much so that they’re named the winners of the challenge and thus giving Simon the confidence that he will one day make a great father.
Philloise: Love Island is absolutely not a show Eloise ever expected to find herself on but she’s not there to find love; she’s there for the £50k and to take down as many brainless chauvinists as she possibly can. Her nose is constantly scrunched up with the lines and air-headed things her fellow contestants say and she’s not afraid to put any man in his place should he upset one of the other girls. Eloise makes for TV gold as she always has something to say and doesn’t take shit from anyone and she quickly becomes a fan favourite despite falling out of favour with the majority of the boys. The only guy in the villa who gets on with her, finds her amusing, and chooses to couple up with on a friendship basis is Theo. They get along well as he’s the only guy who can meet her on an intellectual level and in Eloise’s head she reckons they can make it to the final and even secure the bag. There’s just one hitch - Eloise makes the shocking discovery that she’s caught feelings for him. She tries to play it cool and doesn’t give him any reason to think she sees him as anything more than friends but she admits in the Beach Hut that she really enjoys kissing him in tasks and challenges. Theo notices she’s gone unusually quiet in recent days and finally she admits she might kinda like him and he admits he might kinda like her too and they decide to give their romance a go. They get on well for a couple of weeks and then Casa Amor happens. Eloise has no interest in any other guy and is confident that Theo will feel the same with the new girls - but when she walks back into the main villa, her hopes shatter when she sees him stood by the fire pit with another girl. When she tries talking to him to try and understand what he sees in this new girl that he doesn’t see in her, Theo turns on her and throws a bunch of stuff in her face and saying he dislikes the qualities that he had once told her he really liked about her (please envision this as the Michael vs. Amber “ya chaldish!” argument lmao). Eloise is anguished by how harshly she’s being treated by a guy she thought she could trust and the audience are sad to see her curl in on herself and be a little less fiery and talkative than she’s known to be. It’s not until a week later that Eloise finds herself left alone at the fire pit following a recoupling and expects to leave the villa with nothing more than heartache when to everyone’s surprise she receives a text to inform her she’s now coupled up with Phillip, who then enters and upon reaching her receives a text informing them they’re going to go and have their first date. Eloise can’t quite believe it as she and Phillip go on a stargazing date and what shocks her even more is that he’s nothing like any other guy she’s ever met. He’s sweet, tender-hearted, and knowledgeable, and wants to know all about her and she keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop, for his facade to slip but it never does. She does query what a guy like him is doing on the show and she’s blown away when he tells her that once he saw her on the TV, he just knew he had to meet her and that to him, she’s the perfect woman. Eloise is stunned by such an admission but then shocks herself when she surges forward and kisses him and discovers all the kisses she had with Theo pale in comparison to this kiss with Phillip. Back at the villa Eloise tries to steady her hopes, thinking Phillip will want to at least get to know some of the other girls but he only has eyes for her and tells her that he came to the villa just for her. The audience is thrilled to see Eloise back to her old self but now all loved up and radiant with happiness with Phillip. Then one night Phillip is with some of the guys when one of them asks; “how’s the taming of the shrew coming along?” Phillip, though clearly rattled, doesn’t raise his voice but firmly puts the guy in his place, telling him to have some respect for Eloise and that there is nothing he would wish to change about her. Eloise is none the wiser about this interaction but in defending her honour he wins over the trust of the public. And then, when Eloise and Phillip do make it to the final and win and he ends up picking the envelope with the £50k, the host has barely finished asking the question when Phillip says he wants to share the money and hopefully the rest of his life with Eloise.
Franchel: Cousins John and Michael enter the villa as bombshells and turn all of the girls’ heads. They each get to pick three girls to have dates with, with each girl preparing a course, and the girl who gets picked by both of them is Francesca. Michael had his eye on her as soon as he entered and he shares a dessert with her after she’s had mains with John. When it comes to the recoupling, Michael hasn’t discussed with John that he wants to couple up with Francesca, seeing as John has been getting on with all of the girls, so he’s thrown when John picks first and chooses Francesca for himself. Michael really has no one else but himself to blame for not making his feelings known to his cousin but he decides to right this by having a conversation with John where he plans to ask if he can still get to know Francesca. However, when they go for a chat, John is so delighted to be coupled up with her that Michael doesn’t have the heart to make his own feelings known and instead decides not to tread on his cousin’s toes. John and Francesca are one of the steadiest couples in the villa, meanwhile Michael goes from woman to woman, having fun and getting embroiled in drama without hurting any of the other girls feelings; but all the while he knows his heart is with Francesca. His cousin and Francesca welcome him quite happily as a third wheel and the trio are always hanging around together, though it doesn’t escape the audience’s notice that Michael is drawn to his cousin’s partner just in the way he looks at her longingly. It’s only after a couple of different challenges that John becomes aware of his cousin’s feelings. During the Twitter challenge, a tweet is read out insinuating that Michael and Francesca would make for a better pairing and that Michael can’t settle because his cousin is with the girl he really wants to be with. Things become awkward between the trio though what was revealed is never discussed, however the suggestion that Michael likes her makes Francesca start thinking about him in a new light. Then, during the heart rate challenge, Michael dominates by spiking all of the girls heart rate, including Francesca’s, meanwhile Francesca is the person who spikes Michael’s heart rate the most, and everyone sees how close the pair come to actually kissing when she was dancing up on him. John takes all of this into consideration and then asks Francesca if she has any feelings for Michael. Francesca is tearful when she admits that there might be something there but she doesn’t want to come between the cousins who are as close as brothers. John then has a word with Michael, finally asking him if he wants Francesca, and his cousin wearily confesses that he liked her straightaway but never wanted to get in John’s way and just wants him to be happy. John mulls everything over before convening with both of them on the terrace and announcing he’s going to leave the villa - and that he wants Michael and Francesca to give things a go. They both try to argue with him, telling him he doesn’t have to leave and Michael even offers to leave instead, but John insists; he can now see just how much Francesca and his cousin mean to each other and knows they can make each other happier. He holds no ill will against them and really just wants what’s best, telling them it’ll be worth it if they do end up falling in love, and he’s sure he’ll find someone else. After a teary goodbye Michael and Francesca recouple together and though initially hesitant of moving too quickly after John’s departure, the heat is ignited between them when they share a kiss. Some of the other islanders voice their opinion that they think Michael just wanted what he couldn’t have but he barely notices anyone else but Francesca once they get together. They then go on to prove the naysayers wrong as Michael remains faithful and devoted to Francesca and Francesca alone (and rumour has it their night in the Hideaway was one of the most explicit visits of all time).
Grucy: Lucy rolls her eyes when the newest bombshell, Gregory, makes a beeline to her best friend Hermione, after every other guy in the villa has done the exact same thing. Just as she’s done before, Hermione humours Gregory’s advances but Lucy knows her heart’s not in it (and she knows of Hermione’s secret boyfriend on the outside - her friend is only on the show for a Boohoo/Pretty Little Thing fashion deal). Gregory does try something new in comparison to the other guys; he seeks out Lucy’s advice and opinion on how to get Hermione to like him. Lucy is surprised and tries to tell him that if Hermione’s feeling it then he’ll know but he keeps going to Lucy for more tips. Lucy feels awful, knowing his efforts will be futile considering Hermione is besotted with her boyfriend on the outside world, but she does think Gregory’s far better than Sam Edmonds, and so she decides to try her best to help him. She talks him up to Hermione and always invites him to sit with them and chat, before excusing herself to give them some time alone (even if it means having to put up with Neville Berbrooke’s flirtatious advances). Little by little, Hermione does seem to be growing fond of Gregory, and as happy as she is with the success she’s been having, Lucy can’t help but wish that she was getting Gregory’s attention. Then, during a challenge in which the boys and girls are each blindfolded and have to rate out of ten a kiss given to them by the opposing team, Hermione gives Gregory’s kiss a 10/10. Gregory’s thrilled and then he gives a 10/10 to the kiss that set off sparks in his heart and soul - but he’s shocked when it turns out he gave such a rating to Lucy’s kiss (and a measly 4/10 to Hermione’s kiss). As thrown as he is by such an outcome, Gregory persists in winning Hermione over, and fortunately his efforts pay off when she chooses to couple up with him. He is thrilled until he wakes up the next day and realises all the girls have left for Casa Amor. Gregory stays faithful but when Hermione returns she’s coupled up with Richard, who turns out to be Lucy’s older brother. Aghast with the result, Gregory lashes out at Lucy, feeling betrayed by her but he stops immediately when she starts crying, telling him she had been shocked to see her brother appear and that she had no idea how he ended up coupling up with her best friend. Gregory comforts her, realising she was none the wiser about any of it, and suddenly he has a crystallizing moment that Hermione was never right for him. Later that night Gregory gets out of bed to get a breath of fresh air and finds Lucy already outside doing the same thing. They chat and Gregory realises how easy it is to talk to her, to just be with her, and it occurs to him that whenever it’s just the two of them the rest of the world melts away; and as soon as this dawns on him, he kisses her. Lucy is surprised and rushes back to her bed, and when Gregory tries talking to her about it the next day she tells him she knows it didn’t mean anything, thinking she was nothing but a rebound for him after Hermione. Gregory is dejected, thinking she doesn’t feel the same way for him, and it hurts him to see her in her couple with Arthur Haselby, wishing he was the one who got to share her bed and get to go on dates with. Then one day, Gregory is surprised to be pulled by Hermione into the pantry and she insists they take off their mic packs, and once they do she quietly informs him that she knows Arthur on the outside; not only is he just in the villa to get a brand deal, but she knows he has a boyfriend on the outside. It’s all the convincing Gregory needs to pursue Lucy without fearing of treading on anyone’s toes and he constantly picks her to do challenges with, tugging her into quiet corners for stolen kisses, and telling her how much he likes her. Lucy is still apprehensive, thinking Gregory’s just trying to make Hermione jealous even though she feels more of a spark with him than with Arthur (and naturally the audience at home are screaming at her to let go and love Gregory back). Eventually Hermione and Richard convince her to follow her heart and at the next recoupling she takes a leap of faith and couples up with Gregory. As soon as they’re together properly, Lucy can’t remember why she had felt so hesitant as Gregory showers her with constant love and affection, and during the prom night ahead of the final Gregory declares his love for her and Lucy just knows she’s going to spend the rest of her life with him.
Hyareth: For the first few weeks, Hyacinth has fun getting to know various boys but none of them are doing anything for her. She spends most of her days with her best friend Felicity and the guy her friend coupled up with on the very first day, Geoff, keeping the pair (and the audience) entertained with her anecdotes and remarks. She laments one evening that she might not find love in the villa but she’ll enjoy the all-expenses paid for holiday nevertheless - and just as she’s finished saying that, in walks the newest bombshell, Gareth, and Hyacinth falls uncharacteristically silent, much to Felicity and Geoff’s great amusement. Initially Hyacinth tries to play it cool with Gareth, not wanting to scare him off (as she fears she’s done with the other guys so far), but he ends up bringing out her true self and what’s more he adores her for exactly who she is. They get along right away but they take things slowly, both wanting a relationship based on friendship first and foremost, and as such they don’t have their first kiss until after they’ve coupled up. From that kiss onwards Hyacinth is smitten and the pair spend all of their time together larking about in the pool, pulling pranks on Felicity and Geoff, and sitting around laughing about anything and everything. During a challenge in which the villa have to fill in the blanks of headlines about the show, Hyacinth is shocked when one headline states that Gareth is only coupling up with her because she’s popular on the outside world; and what’s more, his own father gave the interview. She starts to second guess their entire relationship, wondering if she’s just been his meal ticket this whole time, but Gareth opens up to her and tells her of his fractured relationship with his father who undermines him at every turn and has it out to sabotage every last thing in Gareth’s life. He pleads with her not to believe his father’s lies, not when she’s the best thing to ever happen to him, and Hyacinth chooses to believe him over a bitter old man. Gareth proves to be nothing but all-in with Hyacinth but she’s confused when he keeps reminding her to try to get to know other guys. When Hyacinth tells him she only wants to be with him and demands to know why he’s trying to push her away, he confesses that he fears she can do so much better than him and doesn’t want to hold her back from achieving her true happiness. Hyacinth asks him to rid his mind of his father’s cruel voice and to have faith in her when she says that she believes they are worthy of each other and can achieve true happiness together. From then on Gareth lets go of his insecurities especially after the contestants friends and family visit the villa. Hyacinth’s mother and eldest brother couldn’t approve of him high enough much to his relief, and he can’t help the fond smile he wears as Hyacinth gets on with his grandmother like a house on fire (and not to mention Agatha would be chiding him for ever letting his father’s stupid opinion get in the way of his happiness). Then during their final date he can’t stop smiling across at her, his heart absolutely full when he tells her quite simply that he loves her. Hyacinth exchanges the sentiment and they share a kiss just as fireworks go off overhead - which startles Hyacinth into cursing, making Gareth laugh. She apologises for ruining the moment but he tells her fondly that he wouldn’t have it any other way and kisses her once more.

Something I was wondering regarding Kate's launch today of the Early Childhood Business Taskforce is how does it differ from Carl Gustaf & Silvia's Global Child Forum? I partly blame the KP social media team for my confusion here but, is it that Kate focuses more directly on businesses & the early years of children... whilst the Global Child Forum has a broad target & focus on children's rights?
Essentially, yes, you're exactly right. If we look at what the websites themselves tell us, we can see the slight difference:
Global Child Forum:
Global Child Forum is a Swedish non-profit foundation with headquarters in the heart of Stockholm. We bring together global leaders from business, civil society, academia and government in order to spur action for social change around children’s rights. Our vision is a sustainable world where children’s rights are respected and supported by all stakeholders in society.
Centre for Early Childhood:
Our mission is to drive awareness of, and action on, the extraordinary impact of the early years, changing what we think and do on early childhood, in order to transform society for generations to come. We research, campaign and collaborate to achieve this mission.
So GCF is all about promoting children's rights, using businesses to be the leading force, whereas CEF is about raising awareness of and driving action on the importance of the first 5 years, using data to lead decisions. The Early Childhood Business Taskforce is essentially mimicking the GCF but on a much smaller scale and specifically focusing on the early years. It's asking businesses to incorporate this understanding of the importance of early years into their business models and leading from the front by making these changes.

🤍☕️🧁 for the royal ask game
(my knowledge + answered are based on the modern BRF)
🤍: who is your favourite underrated royal
The Duchess of Edinburgh - aka Sophie
I think a lot of people assume that women have "won" their equal rights in terms of the law and that now more work needs to be done regarding societal roles, whilst that is true in some cases, it is not true for all.
Sophie is making sure that we don't forget that there are still women and girls who are victims of sex trafficking, violent sexual assault, patriarchal laws, etc. Sophie does a lot of work with ensuring this visibility remains in the forefront with various different organisations and charities around the world.
Tumblr media
☕: what is your favourite royal name
Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana
I love this name for so many different reasons. But the over arching one is that each of her names honours each side of her family.
Charlotte = giving her her own name and identity without the expectstion, the feminine version of her grandfather Charles, her aunt (Catherine's sister Pippa) middle name = Middleton family
Elizabeth = Catherine's (her mother's) middle name, her great-grandmother's name (the Queen + highly loved by William), a similar middle name to many in the BRF = Mountbatten-Windsor family (BRF)
Diana = acknowledgement of her grandmother who left this world too soon without the expectation of making it her first name, honouring her father's lost mother = Spencer family
Tumblr media
🧁: which royal deserved better
The Princess of Wales - Catherine
I could literally write an essay about this but I don't think enough attention or awareness is out there about how much Catherine has dealt with.
In the decade as William's girlfriend, she was not afforded the same benefits and security as others in the family.
And as a member of the family, she continually makes allowances for others when she shouldn't have to.
Let me know if you want me to go on 👀

Annabelle and Bruno were going strong, they were happy together and things were great. Was it really too much to ask for them to get one day together? No drama, no challenges, just the two of them in their own little bubble. Of course, they’re on Love Island and the producers aren’t exactly known for keeping things calm for long. So how will Annabelle and Bruno handle the curveballs thrown their way?
We know that writing isn't FB's strongest part. Once in a blue moon, I get an idea & write something. Here we are! I'm worried about getting the characters right, but seeing as FB couldn't keep the Bombshell characters in character... that means the bar isn't that high, right?
