I'm going to be honest finding your account has sent me down a rabbit hole I did not expect to find myself in, yesterday I spent six hours, looking at all of your stuff and I'm absolutely amazed, I have no words. Your art and everything you talk about I'm absolutely fascinated in a very normal way I don't mean to sound weird. I was wondering if you had any thoughts to share with someone who's hating everything they draw and have lost the fun and passion when creating, I want to snap out of it.

I've been holding onto this ask for a minute because a few years back I went through a phase (I call it a phase, I fully intended never to pick up art again) where I also hated everything I was making

ultimately, what got me out of it was mostly doing other stuff. not even in a 'get a new hobby,' kind of way, I hated drawing in my sketchbook, so I started cutting out washi tape as clothes over old sketches and filling in the negative space between scribbles with highlighter and pen colors I thought looked nice. I went out to daiso, bought $10 worth of stickers, and started putting them where I thought it would look nice when I got the urge to do something but still couldn't bring myself to actually pick up a pencil.

if there's something that you know for sure you don't like about art, it can help to confront it and then go in the other direction. there were a lot of things I used to draw because I felt like it was expected, only I was unhappy all the time, and once I realized I was unhappy because I wasn't actually exploring what I thought was interesting about the subject holding my attention, it was sometimes easier to see what I DID want to do, I just had to acknowledge what I DIDNT want first.

that said, I still have an on-off again antagonism with myself and art, it's messy and it's always going to be that way for me, but whenever I feel stuck, I do try to change things up, or head off to a space that I feel has absolutely no expectations from me whatsoever. like. whenever I get really annoyed on my history blog, I actually turn to watching 2PM's vlogs on youtube. I have enough 2PM art in my sketchbooks I almost thought about making a dedicated HOTTEST twitter account lmao.

probably my last thought on this might be: try keeping two sketchbooks. nothing expensive. one can be something more serious, but keep a space just for yourself to fuck around in. don't draw in it unless you want to. put stickers in it, press flowers that you think look neat. buy some cheap water colors and see if you like the blues that you get out of it. it's okay to feel antagonistic towards art, but if you aren't ready to break up with it (and art will always be there if you want to go back, that's an important thing), I've found the straightforwardness of 'I like these stickers, so I'm going to put them on top of this square of blue I liked,' to be akin to leaving messages for someone you aren't ready to talk to face to face just yet, but maybe someday.

Starting off strong with vampire Bruce. Funny enough I actually drew this before reading Red Rain so I was happy to see him get wings in that lmao

📓- do you actually write in your notebooks

Nope! I keep everything in either Google Docs or Discord :] However I do a lot of concept sketches in a separate sketchbook, it’s much easier to explore character design on paper than digital for me personally

I’d guess that I’m so used to digital being my super polished work while paper is where I do more relaxed stuff, so I can explore more messy/baby concepts on paper

📖- favorite thing about your current wip

Going with DOTS here, I’m really proud of how they’ve developed over the years; I’m happy to be able to develop an original story and really hope I’ll never be called a “ripoff” again

Another thing that’s more development-wise, I’m honestly kind of proud of how I was able to fit a bunch of color-related topics into DOTS’ lore! Primary colors, white light, pigment terminology... all are just basic things you never really think about but actually end up helping the full worldbuilding of DOTS lmao

🔮- what genre do you enjoy writing

Judging by 2/3rds of my major WIPs, I feel like they’re all fantasy stories that look bright and colorful on the surface but end up having darker themes and moments, oops lmao

DOTS’ world is inspired by the world of color, but the things the Paladins go through as well as the full “lore” of the world tends to put DOTS into near existential territory

ETSS’ world could’ve stopped at the massive celestial empires and over-the-top fantasy designs, but it is definitely a darker story where kids go through... well, things kids shouldn’t be going through

AuAg is the odd one out of the main three, since what you see is what you get; a story about criminals fucking each other over after the downfall of the sin-filled casino they all work at

But even my other stories tend to be fantasy stories with rich, imaginative worldbuilding that ends up having darker themes lmao

- Rivals of Prisma/Powershift also being a story about color coded people but this time perhaps being about rivals whose loathing for one another trascends time and worlds

- MAR/Blue Light having color coded secret agents doing spy-ish shit but also being about the existentialism of not being in control of your life and something something about an atlas complex and the main protagonist constantly having issues about what’s real or not

- Dream.exe being about kids with fairy tale superpowers who can travel through dream lands but being a cover for a dark science experiment

- A Story Told being about knights and fairies but also one of the main characters is meant to be a lost prince whose people were wiped out

- Secrets of the Gem Council being about magical witch girls (and one were-corvid) going on adventures together but also being involved in solving a massive murder mystery and running into bandits and assassins along the way

- Dragon Destiny (granted, I will change the title someday) being about science experiment color coded dragons but one of the main characters is trying to heal from his trauma of not being “perfect” enough and being subjected to horrific experiments to make him “perfect” while also trying to keep his secret dragon/human hybrid daughter a secret when his lover and the baby’s mom is a high profile person and also his old creator is hunting him down for escaping his labs and most importantly, his control

- Infinity Crisis starting off as a series exploring a bunch of friends in a virtual reality MMO RPG but soon the secrets behind the game’s development ends up putting everyone’s lives in danger, whether it be characters suffering from comas, getting hunted and assassinated, and people going sorta mad from all the events happening. Also the idea of a found family that is broken at the beginning of the series, because One Event just causes everyone to break apart from their differing morals and leaving everyone to dwell over what the hell were they getting themselves into when all they wanted to do was help develop a game that would connect with a passionate audience, but all their hard work and now their relationships are haunted by the trauma they faced

Granted other stories I have are just Dark Dark, but I guess I just love designing quirky colorful characters but it contrasts heavily with my more heavy writing decisions lmao

happy birthday to my favorite rat girl <3

Toni is my teenage Were-Rat sorcerer from a semi-modern dnd campaign, and I love her a lot. I have a lot to say about her but no Idea where to start!

She’s kind but a bit of a punk, big >:) energy. Loud and high energy, with humor that can often come off as rude, but she means well. Very ambitious; she works at her “uncle’s” pizza shop, Papa Pastrolli’s, in New Ork, raising money to try and make ends meet and hopefully go to college someday.

He’s not a blood related uncle, he's more of an adopted guardian that took Toni under his wing after she left home. While her parents did love her, they were awfully distant, which lead Toni to spend more and more time out on the house and one the streets, spending less and less time at home until she eventually never came back. She made the sewers her new home and the rats her new family. The people of New Ork dont take kindly to were-rats, which only made Toni louder and cockier, sometimes flashing a half-transformed rat face at catcallers and other dickheads on the street.

Toni was not born a were rat, however. She was a nerdy preppy kid that hung out at anime club in middle school. One of her peers said they knew a guy who could turn them into vampires, which sounded like the coolest shit ever to Toni, so something something oh whoops she got rat, not bat. (EXACTLY how she got turned im still not sure.) Having to hide this mistake from her parents was a factor of her eventually leaving.

In early high school, when she was part of the punk clique, she and some of her edgier friends went to get piercings (probably from one of their older brothers who recently bought a tattoo gun lmao). Toni chose a helix in her right ear. Unknown to her, the jewelry was silver-plated, and silver is famously one of the most painful and deadly substances for lycanthropes. It instantly started burning her, and out of sheer panic and pain, she ripped the jewelry out, leaving a sizable chunk missing that never grew back. She hid the scar under her hair until it healed enough to look cool instead of gross and painful, and now she thinks it looks cool but probably wouldn’t tell you the story unless you asked.

She joined an adventuring party as a chance to practice her sorcery, as she’s fallen out of practice aside from basic self defense. (TBH I dont remember why I made her a sorcerer, she has way more potential as a physical fighter with pact tactics and race traits but whatever. she knows shocking grasp as a cantrip and I like to pretend its a little keychain taser lmao)

I rolled really damn good on her stats (and the way I did it actually may make these illegal but whatever who cares) so currently she’s level 2 with 14 strength, 15 dex, 20 con, 13 intelligence, 12 wisdom, and 20 charisma. I can't fuckin WAIT to play again so we can get into combat and she can release rats from her backpack to utilize pact tactics and kick SO MUCH ASS

In which Queen Aanya validates Rayllum

HIII! <3

So, this is kind of a crack fic lmao because...idk i just wanted to have fun, guys agshja it's not that good but it's just an idea that popped up in my head and,if somebody reads this: I hope you liked it <3. Comments are appreciated, btw :3

Then, they are left alone.

Well, not alone.

They're sitting there, enjoying each other's company while surrounded by the remnants of the battle. Some people injured, the rest just tired or sleeping (Like Rayla, whose eyes are barely open). At least, Callum thinks, they're now under the protection of Queen Zubeia. All of them together, humans and elves, for the first time in a very long time.

With a sigh, he tries to go back to his sketchbook, just as Rayla's horns poke him in the face, very close to his eyes.

"Oh, sh..."

"Hey." Callum laughs. "There are children here."

"Did I hurt you?" She asks, very, very concerned, as she inspects Callum's face as if one of his eyes were now rolling by her feet.

"Rayla, you barely touched me. It's okay. Don't worry. Come on, you're falling asleep. You need to rest. “He smiles, while he takes her hand and places a tender kiss on her palm. “If something happens, I promise I'll wake you up.

But just when she looks convinced enough, through the corner of his eye, Callum can see aunt Amaya signing something at him, with a smile on her face. She's close to them, sitting next to Princess (Queen?) Janai, her new elf friend. And, of course, being the careful individual she is, Rayla follows the direction of his eyes.

"What's she saying?" She asks in a very discrete way. Callum doesn't notice he's blushing until he feels his cheeks burning.

“Oh, it's nothing... She just said that we... Uhm...”

"What?"

"That we make a…quite adorable couple." He laughs, as he signs back at aunt Amaya. "Thank you."

"...Oh." Rayla scratches her nose, as she tries to keep calm, even though Callum doesn’t know for sure why she’s so nervous in the first place. “Well, I guess she likes me now."

"Well.” Callum grabs her hand. "I guess you could say that."

"I'm glad." She smiles. To Callum's eyes, she looks adorable, all tired and barely awake.

"Yeah..." He says. "Me too.”

Suddenly, they're leaned into the other's face, close to their lips, paying little attention to the fact they've never really had an audience before (besides Ez, and that wasn't even on purpose). However, they're interrupted seconds before they can do anything, thanks to the sound of somebody clearing their throat.

When they turn to the side, there's Queen Aanya, standing like a monument even though she's not even a year older than Ez. Shocked, Callum scoots up as fast as he can, and even if Rayla's not really sure of what's happening, she imitates him, but when they try to reverence her, Queen Aanya straightens her back and says, in a very soothing voice:

"Please, do not kneel."

Still, Callum can't help it and ends up bowing at her in a very subtle way. A gesture that goes apparently unnoticed.

“I actually wanted to apologize. It appears that I might have interrupted something. “Queen Aanya folds her hands on her lap.

"Oh, no, no!" Callum says, nervously. “No, we were just...!”

“Nothing special, Your Majesty.” Rayla smiles. “Do you...?”

"Need...Request our help?"

Fortunately, Queen Aanya seems amused, as she laughs politely, covering her mouth with her hand.

“I will try to be as brief as possible, as I assume you need some time with each other to process the events.” She says. “You do happen to be in an established relationship. Am I correct?"

Callum feels Rayla's confusion and he doesn't blame her. Everyone is confused about Queen Aanya at some point, given the fact that, even if she's still a child, she's more mature than a lot of grown-up people. And, well, now she's questioning the nature of their relationship. What a convenient situation.

"Yes." Rayla finally speaks, staring directly at Callum. “You are correct."

For a moment; a moment so brief it almost goes away in a blink, they can see a spark in Aanya's eyes as she smiles at them with something that reflects a lot of things, one of them being tenderness. Callum feels something warm deep in his heart.

“In that case, I would like to congratulate you first.” Aanya says. " It is... pretty noticeable, and I felt the need to express the feeling of respect I have grown towards both of you, for being able to create a relationship out of such circumstances and such strong cultural barriers. I must admit that I am very impressed."

Callum doesn't realize their heads are leaned against the other until he feels Rayla's skin so close their cheeks are touching.

"We appreciate your words, Your Majesty.” Callum says, as Aanya stares at the two of them more than she focuses on him, who happens to be the one talking to her. "We hope to grow stronger in our relationship.”

"Everyday. Like we have done it until now." Rayla says.

“It warms my heart to hear that.” Aanya says, placing a hand where said heart is located. "That is why, if you do not have somebody to do it, I would like to offer myself to officiate your marriage."

It arrives like a clap in the face, and Callum goes cold, just like Rayla.

Then the room is hot again.

Very hot.

And they both were red. As a cherry, as an apple, and as all the red things that were coming to Callum's head right now.

So, not knowing what to do, they start rambling, like they always do.

"OH!"

“Your Majesty, that's very kind of you but right now... "

"I MEAN, WE DO WANT TO..."

"SOMEDAY BUT... BUT RIGHT NOW WE'RE KIND OF..."

"YOUNG."

"YES, YOUNG! VERY, VERY YOUNG!"

"AND DUMB! WE TAKE PRETTY DUMB DECISIONS WHEN WE'RE TOGETHER, YOUR MAJESTY! DIDN'T YOU SEE HOW...?"

And then a sound comes out of Aanya's mouth.

When they stare at her, she's laughing. And she keeps doing that until she notices the confusion in their faces.

"Do not worry.” She says. "I was just playing with you."

They just stay there, looking like idiots, with their mouths half-open.

Callum fills his cheeks with air, and then he lets it out in relief.

"...Oh.”

"That was...clever, Your Majesty."

"I know.” Aanya shrugs, completely conscious of how in a matter of seconds she managed to set the world on fire. "I am going to have to retire now, but congratulations again. You have all my best wishes."

Callum bites his lower lip as he watches her leave, and even if for a moment he feels weak, he realizes he does have the guts to ask what suddenly popped into his mind.

"Your Majesty?" He calls her.

Queen Aanya turns around in the very moment she hears her name. She's not annoyed, she's not mad. She's just there, staring and waiting, with a patience made of steel and that, somehow, helps Callum to feel safe.

"This means that... Well... given the fact that we're a human-elf relationship... we...we do have your blessing as one of the human kingdoms, right? "

Aanya stays in silence.

Then, she speaks, getting a little closer.

"Listen, Prince Callum. I want to clarify the type of Queen I am trying to be, and for that, I am going to need you to be aware of the fact that, for these types of issues you will not, ever, need my blessing."

Callum smiles, as a silent "thank you."

"I may be tough as a person, and some people may even say I have a really bad temper sometimes. And I am aware that is a truth, just as the fact of me having really strong opinions is also a truth. I believe there are bad humans in this world, and I believe there are bad elves as well… But above of that, I believe in my mothers’ legacy, and I believe in love. And when I first landed my eyes on you that is exactly what I saw.“ She says "I saw love. And trust. And hope, for you and for all of us, in this divided world we have gotten used to. "

In a very calm way, Aanya takes Rayla’s hand, and then she proceeds to carefully put it into Callum’s.

“…And I might have also seen four fingers that fit perfectly into five, just as if they were made for each other.” She chuckles.

There's that tender expression again, and somehow Callum believes they'll be okay.

Somehow, he manages to be almost sure that their relationship will be accepted and everyone will be willing to see them the way Aanya does. Not a human and an elf, just two living creatures who found each other and fell deeply, madly in love.

“I hope that answered your question, Prince Callum.” Aanya says, as she turns around again, only to stare at them one last time.

"Oh, and...Whenever you feel ready to take that step, in case somebody decides to question your decisions, remember that I am a Queen, and even if my statement was intended to be a joke, I do carry the authority to officiate weddings. I hope will not find yourselves in the need to ask for that kind of help. “She smiles in a way so pure she almost looks like she’s trying to act her age for once.

“An invitation is welcomed, though. I have never been to an elven wedding. It could be a really interesting experience for me and I would really appreciate it.”

1. Do you prefer traditional drawing, or digital?

I’m actually kind of both? I like starting off with traditional drawing because I feel I have a better control of my hand on paper (than with a tablet). And if I like the piece enough I take it to my computer and use it as my base sketch. Then of course I add the lineart and colors and everything. I wish I could do base sketches with the tablet but I need more practice lmao. And I also feel more comfortable with digital pieces so I can fix all the weird stuff (eye too big, head too diagonal, etc.) that happens with my traditional pieces.

5. What’s your favorite thing to draw?

I answered this one earlier!

6. What’s your least favorite thing to draw?

13. Do you prefer to keep your art personal, or do you like drawing things for other people?

I’m always really weird about this because most of the art I post here are gifts for friends. I LOVE drawing things for others to show how much I appreciate them and their ocs. But then I end up in a weird hole where I feel bad when I draw art for myself. Because I think ‘why draw for yourself when you could be drawing for others??’ And I know that’s bad alsdljfa I should get around to drawing more personal art.

21. Do you like to challenge yourself?

A;SLDLFAS ok I really want to say I do, even though it doesn’t look like I do on my blog. I know most of the art pieces on my blog look similar (random girl at ¾ pose with lighting at top left, etc). But that’s because (like I mentioned above) that most of the art I post are gifts for friends. And that’s the only pose I know how to draw well (and I’d feel terrible if I drew ugly art for a friend). But I do try to challenge myself more in my sketchbooks because I try out a lot more poses, lighting styles, etc. Someday I’ll finally post pieces like those when they get out of the ugly phase and become more polished! :>

22. Are you confident that you’re improving steadily?

I’m actually not as confident as I could be in my improvement but I know that I am improving! Just yesterday I was trying to doodle an old art piece I drew last year and was surprised at the level of detail that is so natural to me now (that I know I would have struggled with last year). I don’t know if my improvement is steady (maybe more like random bursts?) but as long as I am improving then I’m happy. xD

yess HAHA- food is wonderful >:)! food channels make everything look so appetizing- especially street food!

ohh, I see!! I completely understand- I used to consume a lot more books than I do now- (marvel movies are so COOL AH- the scores are *chef's kiss*- I cannot count how many times I have teared up during big battle scenes)

that is a great unique interest! have you seen those videos of people replacing their keyboards/specific keys with cuter pieces, like ones with hello kitty/paws on top?

as do I!! personally series have been definitely hard to write (part of the reason why sfily and all my other series plans are unfinished or have not been started! sfily was supposed to have 20 chapters, but I left it after 5 fics)

& it's completely okay to want a comprehensive plan! I remember spending 4 hours just planning all of sfily's chapters- and I hope to reboot it someday! planning a fic is part of the fun ;)) (I have a sketchbook full of fic plans that I wrote out HAHA) there's no shame in however you like to write! :)

hmmm- some of my interests :0 are: film, fashion, makeup/skincare, travel & travel vlogs (I could watch people in airports for hours >:))

I asked a friend once what my aesthetic was and their response was: "airports" HAHA- so now I nurture my fondness for liminal spaces by writing every fic setting as: 'night and in an airport' 😌😌-

the quiet of airports- especially in the morning- creates such a soothing atmosphere!! and then when an airport is busy/in rush hour, the organized chaos is really cool! (I could ramble about airports for a while HAHHA-)

and yes!! rambling in asks is very liberating >:) feel free to continue!! <3 I welcome it!

ooh i've always wanted to try the trumpet!! in my experience brass and woodwinds (mostly the flutes haha) are always at odds because of the whole "we can play loud" "but we can play fast and high notes" debate lmao >.<

i actually finished ant-man and the wasp last night with my brothers and it was great!! our marching band is actually doing an avengers themed show (we were going to do it last year but rip covid) so fingers crossed, it's actually going to happen this season u_u

and yeah,, that's what i'm talking about :) i really want a new set of keycaps and maybe a cute artisan like that cat paw one ahhhaslkjf;lsd;

i actually plan everything in my head (which is probably why 99% of my brain cells are occupied about writing/plot/etc. etc.) but i should try writing stuff down,, i really like the feeling of pencil on paper and maybe that way i'd be able to not have to keep everything in my head ahh

also this might sound kind of random but i think your blog theme reflects your interests really well! i don't know what it is about it but i feel like i'm walking through tokyo or a coming of age anime haha

it's been forever since i've been in an airport - the last time i've been in one was when my family went back to china two summers ago and that was a really fun experience :3: i definitely get why airports are so fascinating :p being in an airport any time of day is a VIBE

i wonder what it would be like to live in an airport o.o or oR OR imagine you're a flight attendant and you fall in love with a complete stranger HHHhHHHHhhhHHh i don't think i've seen this trope ever so i think it might be really fun to write uvu why do i get fic ideas in the most random of places Q_Q

alrighty, here goes!!1: when you have cereal, do you have more milk than cereal or more cereal than milk? I try to make it equal, but I always end up with more milk than cereal

2: do you like the feeling of cold air on your cheeks on a wintery day? For the most part, yes. Unless I’m not feeling well or whatever

3: what random objects do you use to bookmark your books? Whatever’s close at hand that’s flat and small, lol

40: think of a piece of jewelry you own: what’s it’s story? does it have any meaning to you? Okay, so since I keep mentioning DMMD; I got an Industrial piercing in my left ear just like Noiz. It was the last piercing I got, and my first one from a PROPER piercer. The whole experience was awesome, and I loved it. It was back when our group was still 4 people, and we made a day of it. The piercer was SUPER nice, talked me through everything he was doing, being calm and reassuring, and just super sweet in general? Afterwards, he gave me a box of apple juice to help with my blood sugar, and I loved that idea so much, that to this day after I get tattoos or piercings, I always make sure to have apple juice as a tradition. I got my last piercing because 1.) I thought it looked HELLA cool, 2.) I reallllyyyyyy wanna cosplay Noiz, and 3.) Noiz’s character has a TON of meaning and stuff with me.
