I just realised that The Librarians is called The Quest here. that's so weird? as if Germans would be more likely to know what quest means? how strange.

Now if statues are your thing Cassandra has had a few of those as well. Two from DC Direct, two from Eaglemoss, and Kotobukiya.
Here's the 2024 addition.
The first is this DC Direct statue designed by co-creator Damion Scott and sculpted by William Paquet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's the biggest of the statues offered. So yeah a good chunk of space is gonna be needed to display this one.
Sadly, this statue has jumped up in price since 2019. Currently, most searches on eBay are asking $200 for this statue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next offering DC Direct gave was from their Ame-Comi (DC characters given "shonen" redesigns) line. This was designed by Paitoon Ratan.
This particular one also has some of the most interesting stories behind it.
#1 Cass was one of the only characters not in the comic line (2012-2013. Take guesses on WHY*rolls eyes*)
Still, this was one of those rare "sneaks" folks at DC got in (the other being the JL Classified Batgirl Cass figure).
#2 is Ratan designed an alternate unmasked face sculpt for Cass. It was sadly cut due to cost-cutting purposes.
Tumblr media
Here you go for a link to that.
Currently, as of 2024, it is the "rare" Batgirl of the Ame-con line (any of the Babs statues are quite cheap) and can go for $149 to $200 on eBay.
Though I did see a loose one for $69. HOWEVER, it is missing a few items (the two batarangs and bats accessories).
If you're looking for something smaller scale, then this is where Eaglemoss swings in. They're the only ones who have Cass not only as Batgirl but also as Black Bat!
As of 2024, they've still not given us an Orphan to finish this "trilogy".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both statues were part of two different lines. The Batgirl is part of their "normal" release statues. This one can come with a book that fully details Cass's origins and appearances.
A nice little character bio as it were.
This Cass without the book is currently going for $19 loose (minus the book) or $24 in pack complete.
The Black Bat was from their Batman Chess line. She was just a pawn in the game. 😭 But hey that means she can evolve into a QUEEN.
Much like Batgirl her price is around the same range $19 to $24. She can be bought together in the entire set too, but that's $600. 😵‍💫
Our final Batgirl statue is the Batgirl One Coin from Kotobukiya. It was made in 2005 and is part of "season 2" of their line.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one hasn't really gone up in price like the Eaglemoss and is easier to display than say the DC Direct statues.
As of 2024, $25 is the asking price for this statue.

Chenford - Lucy Chen / Tim Bradford - The Rookie - Season 5 - Ep 22
"Under Siege" AKA "Who in the Writer's Room Likes Horror?"
It's a bizarre day. If you love Chenford, then you need to know what's going on with the WGA - Writers Guild of America. They are striking for a fair wage and basic protections.
WGA members craft this ship and show we love so much, so please show solidarity for them as they fight for not only their future, but for future generations of writers.
SPOILER ALERT: If you want to remain spoiler free, I have no bloody clue why you're here. I can only assume a friend told you to check this out as a cruel joke. First off, dump that friend. Second, buckle up. It's about to get spoilery!
All good? Great! I can't wait to dive in.
Arrest Me... but make it SCARY
A bit of a different vibe for our opening tonight. No, this isn't Chenford-direct. But, it's important to know the vibe of this episode going in.
If any of you are Avengers: Infinity War fans, you might recall the Wanda / Vision relationship, and their whole sequence where they were ambushed. Originally, it was a lot longer, and had more of a horror movie vibe.
I loved that they went outside the box on that to play with genre throughout the movie.
I feel like The Rookie is playing with that a bit. It's been a while since my heart pounded during an episode.
In all honesty, it was probably Day of Death that last had me on the edge of my seat... and I watched that after I started Season 5 with near-canon Chenford.
Yes, I'm spoiled. Yes, I think OG Chenford fans deserve medals for their patience.
Speaking of which, your patience with me is likely wearing thin... let's get to the Chenford.
"Hey I heard it was Thornson."
Tim and Lucy show up together, and I'm having flashbacks to the two of them bailing out her UC buddy in the dead of night. These two know how to get moving when it matters.
Tim and Lucy immediately separate on their separate missions. That didn't work out too well for Celina and Aaron, but it looks like Chenford survive the night.
Look, I have a lot of ship trauma. "Leaf on the wind" anyone? Yeah, I've got ship trauma.
"A blood drive has been set up at the hospital. If you can do so, please volunteer at the end of shift."
I'm reminded of the fact that Tim Bradford regularly gives blood, so I'm heart-warmed that he's the one who gets to deliver the news to the team.
"Those are not store-bought Halloween masks."
It struck me immediately that Lucy is sitting front row like a Rookie.
Yes, I know that they are packed in there, so somebody has to sit up front... but it's Lucy, so it feels symbolic. As though she is sitting in the Rookie spot in Celina's honor.
"Hey. We heard the good news about Aaron. Unfortunately, none of our CIs have heard anything about a gang targeting the cops."
I know it's a little detail, but I love Tim and Lucy showing up together everywhere.
Of course, someone on Twitter called out the 4x01 parallel to them showing up at Wesley's together after I initially watched the episode. And they're so right. It's another parallel among many in this episode tonight!
"I hate to say it, but this is not gonna break tonight."
This one I spotted immediately the first time through—it's another night where he's sending everyone home because there's nothing more to be done... just like when they lost Jackson.
And I have to wonder if the intentionality of these parallels is to confirm or subvert expectation.
Like, are we supposed to see this similar sequence of events as an omen of doom? Or are we drawing these parallels with the intent of intensifying the torture before the cathartic release of Aaron's survival?
I guess we'll find out together in Season 6.
"I can't lose another."
Oh, Grey. Poor Grey. I guess I wasn't the only one having flashbacks.
Tim and Lucy Embrace
Tim knows Lucy is having that same flashback. There are too many similarities, too many things tying them all back to Jackson and the loss they all endured.
Angela about to give birth. Someone targeting them. An ambush and a shooting.
Yes, Aaron has a chance at making it. But the weight of this moment is not lost on this team who has suffered too much loss before.
Lucy and Tim step into the apartment, and they barely make it past the door before they're in one another's arms.
It's wordless. Tim motions to Lucy, and it reminds me of the hand motions when he offered to carry the War Bags after their last ride together.
Tim and Lucy no longer need a shorthand... they don't even need words.
He knows what she needs without her asking, and she knows what he's offering without a word spoken.
Back in Season 4 Episode 1, Tim asked what she needed. She asked for the hug. Now he knows what she needs in this moment as easily as he knows his own—some semblance of comfort in the horror of history repeating.
QUICK EDIT: Upon rewatch, I find I didn't imagine his "Come here" the first time (another call back), so technically he did use words... but they weren't needed.
Tim holds Lucy in his arms—so similar to their positioning in 4x01—but that's where the similarities end. Because Tim and Lucy of Season 4 no longer exist.
Everything has deepened between them since then. And while, yes, the hanky panky is fun... the trust is what they both need here.
They can't trust that everything will be okay. But they trust that with one another they are truly safe. And right now, they both need that comfort.
"It's okay," he whispers as he holds her, wishing it were true.
Tim kisses Lucy's forehead as he holds her, rubs her arms, and tries to offer some comfort as she leans against him, sobs overtaking her... like the first time he held her in Day of Death.
I know that we're going for the 4x01 parallels with how this is shot and staged, but I see the DOD ones, too. This is where they are safe when nowhere else feels safe.
Tim's hand cradles her head as he holds her. And much as this hurts like hell, this moment is important.
Tim and Lucy are one another's safe place. With each other, there are no pretenses or pretending, anymore. They no longer hide from one another or themselves.
They've embraced the beauty of who they are together, and while there will be many moments of joy... the sorrow is a part of the journey.
Tim and Lucy have had their share of it, true. But this is the first time they've traversed it as boyfriend and girlfriend. And the impact of enduring possibly losing another officer and friend to an ambush is too much.
Does being together make it easier? Hell, no. Is there a slight comfort in knowing you're not enduring it alone? Oh, yes.
"No we know. We ran your prints ... you don't get out of bed for less than 20K a day. Who hired you?"
Tim and Lucy are very good at what they do, and I love how they are supporting one another and building upon each other.
I miss them riding together, but we see what makes them great—they both think on their feet and they are sensational at the "yes, and".
I love getting to see the professional side still fires so beautifully between them. It's a feat I feared fumbled, but I'm freakin' psyched it fared fine.
Oh my goodness, that's way too much alliteration. But, I'm leaving it. It's ridiculous and it makes me smile!
The Trip Wire
Another commonality with Season 4 Episode 1. Gee wiz, we're going for lots of references with this one, and that leaves me curious about the intention... and whether there's a common thread that we're somehow missing that leads all the way back.
Or, I'm reading too much into it because I'm weird. I can roll with that, too.
Tim joins up with Lucy outside the house where she asks him for clarity that none of them have. What the hell is going on!?
"We should move on." "What? No."
Love that Lucy still stands up to Tim at work.
Look, even when he was her TO and then her supervisor, Lucy never shied away from speaking her mind. In this case, she sees something they're missing. And she's not going to let them miss out on an important piece of the puzzle.
"You think it's personal?" "I mean, look, if I was gonna go to the extreme of targeting police officers, why not take out some of my enemies along the way?"
And with that, Lucy BadAss Chen cracks the case. No, I don't know if that's her legal middle name. But it should be.
My brain immediately goes back to Tim accusing her of a social media obsession that happened to crack a case back during one of the Documentary episodes.
There's no skirting around this one—it was all Chen.
"I'll take Moran." "You're not going by yourself." "I'll go with her."
Alright, Fierce Protector. You do you.
"You should be out kicking doors with Metro." "I'm good." "I don't need you protecting me."
Well, damn, I thought it was just me! I thought I was gonna be the only one in this Meta calling out Tim in the Protector role, but I guess my on-screen bestie had to chime in, too.
Also, bringing back "Good" in this scene, which truly feels like their word, and I love it.
Tim will always have Lucy's back. He knows that she is capable and strong, but he's also her boyfriend and spent a lot of time as her TO and then Supervisor. Worrying about her was a part of his job, and now it's an ingrained part of his life.
He's not trying to undermine her independence or capability. He simply wants to be close because then he knows she is safe and doesn't have to hold his breath wondering.
"So, clearly what you're saying is you need me protecting you." "Clearly. You know me so well."
It was pinging my brain, and I couldn't figure out why until someone pulled out the DOD GIF on Twitter and I started slow-clapping like a sports movie.
Yes, of course! When Lucy woke up in the hospital to find Tim by her side... as he is, now.
I kept seeing DOD parallels in this episode, and I'm strangely comforted that others did, too.
Plus, a return of "Clearly", which has been another of Tim and Lucy's words. "Clearly, Ashley's gotta go." "Clearly this isn't working out."
"I'm happy it's you at my six." "Back at you."
Major "We protect each other" vibes, and I bloody approve. Look, we know that Tim is a Fierce Protector. But he also knows that his girlfriend is a kick-ass bad-ass.
Now, we enter into a fight scene that is a bloody masterpiece.
Yes, I wondered why they emptied their clips at the Riot Shields, but I'm not a cop, so I don't know if there's some logic behind it I don't possess. Other than that... this fucking rocked.
Like, literally. I couldn't have been the only Xennial rocking out when Janes Addiction started playing! Someone go hug the Music Supervisor, Music Coordinator, Screenwriter, Director, or whoever threw that track out there, because it's bloody brilliant.
Tim and Lucy are working together, talking it out as they go. And we see all that time they've put into building their communication is really on display, even in a bloody battle.
"We stand a chance, but only together."
Hell, yeah, Lucy! I've been saying that all season. No, not in terms of having the high ground (rest in pieces, Anikan Skywalker's limbs), but in terms of getting through this thing called life.
Tim and Lucy stand a chance of surviving as Chenford through end of show only if they work together.
And on-the-screen in this particular moment, the same holds true.
"Pull not push, copy that."
Love. Them. Look at Tim taking the word of his capable wife and putting it into practice.
Tim and Lucy are literally fighting for their lives, here, and they are fighting together. When one's on the brink of being overwhelmed, the other is there.
Lucy delivers a strike to free up Tim. He takes on several at once, and she goes for the shield. I was screaming, "Hell, yeah, baby girl!" like the big sister I am to my on-screen bestie because she was crushing.
Tim is the master of pepper spray, I swear. He's used it in many creative ways, but super smart to go straight for the eye-holes on the masks to try to penetrate.
Lucy's close to losing consciousness when Tim rips the guy off of her, repaying the earlier favor of her freeing him up. It's a literal give-and-take... in a fight for their lives. This is bloody brilliant.
Nolan finally makes it up there, and Tim helps Lucy through the door to the stairwell, literally shielding her with his body.
Once inside, Tim has his hand on one of his favorite places—Lucy's leg. But this isn't a sexy-time touch. This is the, "Thank God you're alive" touch. If they hadn't worked together, that could have ended very differently.
"I have Bradford and Chen secured upstairs."
Chen and Bradford, sir. It's Chenford. Not Braden.
"You should be on your way to the hospital." "We'll go after."
At least Tim is saying he'll go. Like, seriously, this guy is the king of avoiding medical attention. And too often when he's gone in, he did so knowing nobody was waiting for him on the other side.
Now, not only is he willingly going to go in with his girlfriend, he knows that they'll leave together. Look how far our boy has come.
A Glance
Our last moment of Tim and Lucy is just a glance... a subtle glance between the two of them where that wordless communication comes in.
They've always have this layer to their relationship—communicating without a word. But it's so much deeper, now.
And as we reflect on the end of a season, I have to say it's been incredible to witness their growth alongside y'all in real-time.
This season has been an absolute roller coaster, and my first with all y'all! I started with 5x01, had to catch up, and have loved this whole journey.
Thank you all for being so welcoming to a late-comer like me. And thank you for reading!
Remember, love one another. Give yourself grace. Don't worry about "perfect" because it doesn't bloody exist. Go after your dreams. Fuck Fear. And believe in yourself, always.
And if you're not ready to believe in yourself... know that I believe in you. And I'm always rooting for good things to come your way. You've got this.

Current gaming situation 🕹✨
Felt like sharing the games I'm currently playing, even if I've paused some of them because of my lack of time 😅
-Super Mario Bros. Wonder 💙
Tumblr media
I'm literally stuck on the second to last level, and I can't access the last one until I'm done with this one 😫 It's being such a pain! I don't wanna spoil anything for those who haven't played this game yet, so I'll simply mention two words and make them small so you can avoid them: music blocks 😬
-Super Mario RPG ❤
Tumblr media
I can't even remember the last time I played this game 😭 Peach had just joined the gang, but I haven't had the chance to continue playing in forever and I simply can't wait to resume it! 🥹
-Luigi's Mansion 3 💚
Tumblr media
Okay, I actually beat this game twice throughout this year 😂 So I only play once in a while, unhurried, chilling and enjoying the adventures of Luigi hunting ghosts in a haunted hotel 👻 Also Polterpup 😭😭😭 Cutest dog EVER 🥹🥹🥹
-Super Mario Odyssey ❤
Tumblr media
I started replaying this game for the second time a few months ago, and again, I had to stop due to life happening 😅 I played it for the first time back when I bought it in 2018, so I'm kinda rediscovering it and I'm enjoying it just as much as the first time! 🤩 (or was, you know what I mean 😂) New Donk City has to be my favorite part btw!
-Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga 💚❤
Tumblr media
THIS GAME 😭😭😭 This was my very first Mario RPG game and also my first RPG game EVER, and it was the one that made me fall in love with Mario and Luigi for the first time, and with their cute brotherly bond as well 🥹 And it was also the first one that got me into writing fanfics, so OF COURSE I had to replay it as soon as I got Nintendo Switch Online! 😭
I've replayed it sooooo many times during its 20 years! 🥹 I was 13 when I got it for my GBA, and I obviously got the remake for 3DS years later, but even though I love it, I still prefer the original one. Mario and Luigi look so cute with all those pixels! 😭❤💚
Those Bros. Attacks, those references to Luigi's Mansion and The Legend of Zelda, the Firebrand and Thunderhand!!! 😭😭😭 This game means the whole world to me and I'm just so happy I got to replay it again on my Nintendo Switch! 🥹
Tumblr media
And of course: Prince Peasley 🤭 Look at this gif I found, AW aren't they adorable!? 😭😭😭 @itsavee4117 let's fangirl together 🥹😭💚💛✨
So yeah! These are the games I have started but haven't gotten the chance to finish yet, even if three of them are actually replays 🤭 I ocassionally play Mario Kart 8 and Tetris as well, and I get back to Disney Dreamlight Valley whenever there's a new update 🤭
These are some games I would like to play next year (once I'm done with the ones I mentioned above):
-Super Mario Galaxy, since I own a copy of Super Mario 3D All Stars but never found the time to play this game, except for a very short try!
-Paper Mario, since I never got to play it as a child and it's available on Nintendo Switch Online! 🤩
-Banjo-Kazooie, one of my childhood games that I ADORE with all my heart 🥹 Same as with Paper Mario, I wanna replay it since it's available on Nintendo Switch Online!
-A bunch of old The Legend of Zelda games: Minish Cap, Ocarina of Time, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages... I played all those games growing up and I really loved them! And again, they're available on Nintendo Switch Online, so it's just a matter of finding the time to replay them little by little.
-Princess Peach Showtime. Of course I wanna try the new Princess Peach game! 🤩 Can't wait for it to come out next year! 👏
-Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon. BUT OF COURSE. I mean: it's Luigi. How could I NOT wanna (re)play this game? I own it for 3DS but it's going to be such a BLAST to play it on my Switch next year! 🤩
-Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. My second favorite Mario RPG game EVER 🥹 (only after Superstar Saga) I literally screamed and burst into tears when the remake was announced in the last Nintendo Direct 😭 This game is so important to me! I can't wait to replay it next year 🥹😭❤✨
Okay, this post ended up being way longer than I expected 😅 Thank you so so much if you read everything! 💖
And of course, feel free to share anything that comes to mind about these games, or about the games you're currently playing! I'd be happy to hear anything you'd like to say! 💖

I am not 100% if I have done this before so I am going to call this my updated Destiny 2 vs Warframe post. However, before I get into thing, please note that EVERYTHING I SAY IS BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCES IN BOTH GAMES and that my experiences may differ from yours and if you can't accept that then just stop reading now and go somewhere else. Now I shall get into my thoughts and opinions on both of these games.
Tumblr media
I am going to start with Destiny 2 here and the things that I like about it because, contrary to what one may think, there are things about Destiny 2 that I do like. While doing that I will also make comparisons to those same things in Warframe too.
If there is one thing I can definitely give Bungie credit for is just how good everything looks in Destiny 2. The environments, characters, weapons etc all look really, really good. They definitely have some extremely talented artists over at Bungie and it really shows. Of course, Warframe is also a very good looking game too and is also one reason why I like Warframe but, I think Destiny 2 has a little more going for it in the looks department.
Another thing, and this is something I really enjoy from Destiny, another thing that I really love is the music in Destiny 2. I can sit and listen to all of the soundtracks for Destiny 2 anytime and all day long too. Hell, sometimes I listen to Destiny 2 music when I am playing Warframe. But, on the same note, I recently listened to and downloaded the Warframe soundtracks and they're very good also! Sure, I'm not a fan of the lyrical tracks on the second soundtrack but the rest it and all of the first one are really nice to listen to anytime.
Yes, that is pretty much where things that I like about Destiny 2 ends so, let's get into what I don't like.
First up to bat here is that calling Destiny 2 a free to play game is an utter joke. What can one do as a free to play player in Destiny 2 anyway? Well, there is no base game campaign anymore which was the major reason I even tried Destiny 2 in the first place. You get a tutorial mission in place of that and the first mission of each expansion and that's really all the story content you get. You have a limited number of strikes, I think only three or four of them. You have Gambit which, honestly, I have no idea what this mode is as I've never done it. You have Crucible which is PVP which I imagine is a small amount of maps for F2P players. There's the Dares Of Eternity activity from the 30th Anniversary and then there are two raids and one dungeon. Yeah, as a F2P game, Destiny 2 lacks so much. Once you do these things beyond the first time, you'll see just how boring this game really is. Comparatively, Warframe absolutely EXCELS at being a F2P game, especially with the vast amount of content at ones disposal. You have like seven to eight planets to do all the nodes on, you have Duviri which also has The Circuit and Steel Path, you have the stuff associated with Railjack missions and so on! Best thing too is that a good amount Warframes and weapons can just be obtained from farming assassination missions and don't have to be bought from a store. Warframe has a terrific F2P structure that definitely sets it far above Destiny 2.
Of course, if you don't want to be a F2P player and don't want to sit in an empty well of content, you could always fork over somewhere between $160 and $200 to get all the DLC for the game. Oh yeah, you could also spend additional money on the season pass and in game shop too. What? You don't want to fork over more money for a game that you already paid money for? Yeah, no one wants to do that. This is the area where Warframe excels because it has an actual, sound F2P structure. Now, I've heard some people say that one doesn't have to spend a dime on Warframe and I am sorry, but that isn't true. The difference with Warframe is that one doesn't have to spend much on the game. To me, Warframe having a limited number of inventory slots is a major thing. Initially when starting the game, you have a whopping two Warframe slots and if you get more Warframes, it'll cost you 20 platinum per slot and platinum is something that has to be bought with real money. I myself have spent around $7 on platinum because of this, because I have 11 Warframes with a 12th on the way soon. I find it to be a little but looser when it comes to inventory slots for primary, secondary and melee weapons. But here's the thing, you can EARN more inventory slots by doing the Nightweave dailies so if you want to get more slots slowly, that's the way to do it. Also, yes, of course, like Destiny 2, Warframe has a store where you can buy stuff with you platinum. But, ultimately, Warframe is such a better F2P game that Destiny 2 will ever be. Clarification: It has been brought to my attention that it is actually possible to not spend a dime on Warframe, even on inventory slots for Warframes and weapons. This is possible because one is able to trade their leftover Prime parts for platinum. I myself have been showed this by a friend and I myself find it to be complicated. I just plainly forgot about this method until it was brought to my attention and I thank those who did for reminding me about this.
The next thing is that you basically can't play this game single player. Not only because the matchmaking system will match you with random players regardless of if you want to or not, but also because I found that a lot of things that are NOT those opening story missions for each DLC is just way too hard for a single player to handle. I find that Warframe is only a little bit better in this regard. Early on when doing planet nodes, you can do them my yourself no problem. I found though that once you hit Saturn, Uranus & Neptune, that pretty much goes out the window. But, those early planets are also not completely possible to do single player because the boss fights will require other players, otherwise they're way too difficult.
Kind of coinciding with missions is that I really with they would do away with parts of the mission where they don't allow one to respawn. I mean, even in a group this can be trouble and I don't think it's fair to the players to have be worry about dying and having to restart an entire leg of a mission over again. I am so, so glad that Warframe doesn't do this. However, Warframe only lets one respawn four times but, after that, you can rely upon other player reviving you. But, if you're doing something alone and go through your four respawns, then your fucked. But, Warframe definitely does this better in my opinion.
Events are kind of boring. At the time of making this, it is their Halloween event, The Festival Of The Lost, and the event is kind of boring. The event playlist consists of killing an amount of Headless Ones in an amount of time and then doing a boss. There are like three maps for this playlist and the boss that spawns at the end is always the same too. Yeah, I do it for getting gear and weapons and because I don't have much else to do but yeah, playing the same mode on the same three maps over and over is boring. I've honestly not taken part in any of the events in Warframe so I have no idea how they compare.
The lack of unique weapons is a small thing that bothers me. You could get a super awesome legendary weapon and yeah, it looks like 20 previous weapons that you have already used and the only reason it's even special is because of damage numbers or whatever. You have all these talented artists, surely you can make more cool looking weapons for this game. Warframe definitely excels here as they have completely different and unique weapons that looks very different from each other.
Now, I am going to make this a Part 1 post and am going to do the same thing as I've done here for Warframe in another post.

genuine question the other night at the horde of transvestites you were going insane so uh. was Steven moffat the first guy to do an explicit romance between the doctor and the master on the show? how do you feel. about Steven moffat. about that
SO - i am always going to be insane about twissy, yes. i guess the notable thing would be that steven moffat DIDN'T do an explicit romance between the doctor and the master except for the fact that he did?
(this got very i'm-not-reading-all-that-but-sorry-that-happened so i shoved it under a cut.)
in "dark water"/"death in heaven" they're set up as a romantic relationship: there's two kisses (one non-consensual on the doctor's part, the other initiated by the doctor after learning missy's identity) and missy tells the doctor "two hearts... and both of them yours" while it's dawning on him that she's a time lord. (lady.) throughout s9 missy refers to the doctor with ironically fond terms like "my boyfriend," and she's clearly doing a Bit, but it's also so blatant that one imagines it must be purposeful.
the next time she shows up, in "the magician's apprentice," clara mentions that she's clearly displaying romantic attraction and missy outright denies the idea. of course, missy's not a reliable source, but it's so definitive and harsh that one must assume she's not just doing a bit! steven moffat seems to actually be rejecting the idea that the twelfth doctor and missy have a romantic relationship, and in s9 onward there's no use of the word "boyfriend," no spoken allusions to a romance (...more or less), and no more kissing.
but it gets TRICKY, right? in "the magician's apprentice," the twelfth doctor plays "pretty woman" on the guitar, a song which is generally interpreted as being directed at clara - but the script up on writer's room indicates the song was originally supposed to be "hey mickey." i've always taken that scene to be a little flirty, ESPECIALLY with "pretty woman"! and, like, smoffat didn't seem to have intended to write a romance between 12 and clara in s8, but it remains true that a strong layer of subtext implies that clara is cheating on danny with him however metaphorically or emotionally; it's not the only way to read the season, but there's a lot of support, and it's definitely not a difficult conclusion to come to.
missy blurs the line between traditional ideas of "friendship" and sex (being friends with mortals is cradle-robbing, she insists!) and several of her & the doctor's s10 interactions are charged in a very particular way (the takeout, the end of eaters of light, etc) which is present in the text even if it's denied or unintentional.
so like, yeah - there is no Canon Twissy except for the fact that there is Canon Twissy. it's MESSY. i think that smoffat has bought into heteronormativity and is writing from his own weird perspectives on nuclear families, so he's going to think of romance when there's a man and a woman onscreen together! i think that there's a history of homoeroticism from the doctor and the master that he's writing in the context of! for all i know, he considers missy's interpretation of "friends" to encompass romance or sex! or maybe he just considers their relationship a punchline - i haven't asked him, and to some extent, his intention is irrelevant, and to another it's very relevant for our purposes. twelveclara is explicitly romantic to me whether or not the writers of the show seem to think it is! twissy is in a similar boat!
TLDR: it's very difficult to define whether or not twissy is explicitly romantic, lol! so WHO KNOWS!
and here is where i put the disclaimer that i am well aware relationships outside of binary ideas of friendship vs. romance/sex exist. i absolutely DO think that the doctor and the master have a lot of different sorts of feelings for each other, some of them human and some of them time lord, and most of them difficult to sort into neat little boxes. but also, irt steven moffat's writing, that man doesn't know the word "queerplatonic." there is certainly support for queerplatonic or non-normative relationship readings in dr who; i don't deny that, but i'm addressing the text in the world that it offers rather than delving too far into extrapolation and headcanon in this ask (or at least trying to). for the love of god i'm in a queerplatonic relationship myself, don't come after me for this one.

Get to know me (and you)
Thank you @windsweptinred for tagging me! I am sorry it took me so long to get to this.
1. 3 ships I really like right now: Ohhh this is always tough for me. I have so many ships at all times. Ok well if we're going by my current brain rot...
Dreamling: No one is surprised by this. They caught me by the throat and have not let go for the last year. It's so funny coming in as someone who was familiar with the comics before the Netflix adaptation, because they are not at all romantic. Like, I got no romantic vibes from them (and I'm someone who sees romance vibes in everything). The MOST romance I can see MAYYYYYBE (and this is a massive maybe because I only read this arc after the show aired and I was already getting into Dreamling) happens in The Wake (and I won't go into further details because those are massive spoilers). Why do I like Dreamling? They're just so feral for each other in fanon. Plus it helps that the actors on the show had incredible chemistry with each other (I would also consider HellDream and DreamMuse as other potentials because yeah he looked like he was about to make out with those two actresses).
SnowBaz: I still have so much love for SnowBaz. This was the pair that got me through a massive depression/writing slump. Seriously guys, read Wayward Son and Any Way The Wind Blows if you want an accurate representation about depression and intimacy problems and just finding yourself once that biggest event of your life is over. It's about learning to live after trauma and how to heal. Plus this was also the first CANON queer couple I read and helped me to become comfortable with my own queer identity. Yeah... I may move on and have other loves, but Simon and Baz will always hold an irreplaceable part of my heart.
Tie between Ineffable Husbands and BlackBonnet: These are two very new relationships and I just love them both so much. I don't know much about BlackBonnet, because I've only seen gifs of the second season and nothing more, but from what I've seen, omg I am so excited. As for Ineffable Husbands, they are SO interesting to me and I have been enjoying reading the Metas that have been coming out after the second season. It's so interesting to me, to connect this to SnowBaz, to see the reactions after the second season aired. It reminds me A LOT of the explosion that occurred after Wayward Son was released (an explosion that not only continued the closer we got to AWTWB being released, but also contributed to Rainbow Rowell leaving Twitter). I'm not going to get too deep into this (though @carryonsimoncarryonbaz has been trying to convince to write a meta comparing the two because MY GOD ARE THERE SO MANY CONNECTIONS).
2. First ever ship: Honestly? Sailor Mercury/That boyfriend she had... what was his name? Greg? I thought they were so flipping cute. Plus I liked that the nerdy girl had someone who thought she was cute. As the Nerdy Girl myself, it made me happy to see.
3. Last song:
Fegari - Natasa Theodoridou: One of my favourite Greek songs. I've been in a Greek music mood as of late, and this is a beautiful song. It's about a woman who prays to the moon to bring her husband back from his mistress, and to watch over him if she can't. She also asks the moon to take her from the Earth so that she may see her husband from above.
At least... that's what my husband tells me. Greek music is so morose you guys.
4. Last movie: I watched Barbie last week with my husband. We both loved it so much. It's such a great dark comedy.
5. Currently reading: Lots of fanfiction, but I recently bought a beautiful Jane Austen collection, as well as an illustrated collection of poems by Rumi, so I want to dive into those.
6. Currently watching: My husband on the couch. But in all seriousness, we're probably going to watch either Our Flag Means Death or Silo next.
7. Currently eating: Nothing, but I am craving some cereal.
8. Currently craving: xD Cereal.

Day 15: Praise Kink
Warnings: none
Rating: T
Pairing: Boyd/Raylan/Tim/Jimmy
Usually, Boyd and Raylan take turns chopping wood for the fireplace in the house. They’ve got the callouses for it, the muscle memory. And they don’t mind. Raylan’s always looking for an excuse to take his shirt off, and for Boyd there’s something settling about making himself sweat to provide for the family he’s built for himself.
When the first cold snap of the season hits, though, they both drag themselves out there to really build up the stockpile. And, inevitably, one or both of the boys will find their way onto the back porch and post up on the swing there with a cup of something warm and steaming, to watch Boyd and Raylan work.
This time, it’s just Jimmy. He’s got one of Tim’s sweatshirts on – one of the ones Tim bought oversized for the purpose of never actually wearing it himself – and he’s draped himself over the railing, shamelessly ogling them as they work.
“I’m glad you could take time to enjoy the view,” Boyd calls, and even from this distance he can see the blush that stains Jimmy’s cheeks.
“I’d be enjoying it a lot better if Raylan wasn’t in the way,” Jimmy calls back. Raylan straightens, his chest heaving as he sucks in a breath, and flips Jimmy off without turning to look at him – earning himself a delighted little laugh from the porch.
"Brat," Raylan mutters, though there's an undeniable fondness to his voice. "See if I let him shove his cold toes onto my side of the bed tonight."
Boyd shakes his head, bringing his ax down once more to split the last log in his pile. "Raylan, sweetheart, I love you dearly, but don't pretend you have any semblance of a backbone when it comes to our boys."
Raylan opens his mouth, clearly to argue – and then reaches up to rub the back of his neck a little sheepishly. "Yeah, well," he mumbles after a moment. "Neither do you."
Boyd laughs under his breath. "And I'm very much aware of this fact," he says. Straightening himself, he reaches over and claps Raylan on one bare shoulder. "Come on. I think we've put on enough of a show for one day."
They trudge back to the house, where Jimmy is still waiting. Boyd sees the appreciative glance he gives Raylan, but that's nothing compared to the heat he looks at Boyd with, the painstakingly slow once-over he makes a show of.
Boyd raises an eyebrow. “Now, what did I do to earn this very welcome – if a little unexpected – flattery?"
Jimmy grins. "Well, it ain't flattery, for one," he says. "You look good like this."
"Tired and sweaty and covered in wood shavings?"
"I could take or leave the wood shavings," Jimmy admits. "But the rest?" His eyes flick over Boyd's figure again, blatant this time. "Yeah. Damn fine."
Boyd doesn't blush, because it's not in his nature or his complexion to do so – but he does smile and shake his head, huffing a little breath of a laugh. "And I didn't even take my shirt off."
"Pretty boy's a show off," Jimmy says. "Shame, though. Would have made a real pretty picture, the two of you out there like that."
"Maybe next time."
"Drop the 'maybe' and you have a deal."
Jimmy tilts his face up for a kiss, so Boyd gives it to him, letting Jimmy deepen it until it's not quite appropriate for where they are and how much they're both wearing. By the time Boyd pulls back, they're both panting a little, and Jimmy's mouth is spit-slick and beautifully swollen.
"Next time," Boyd promises, and Jimmy's smile goes absolutely brilliant.
~~~~
Raylan finds him later, after they’ve both showered, when Boyd is in his office going over the first, nascent steps of a plan to take out a growing distribution racket a few counties over. It’s a delicate situation, and it requires the sort of finesse that his crew sometimes finds… difficult.
"You busy?"
Boyd sighs, taking his readers off and setting them aside. "Why, Raylan, I’m never too busy for you," he says, with a smile that feels fake but a genuine intent behind the words.
Whatever Raylan sees on his face, it can't be good, because his own expression softens in a way it usually only does for wounded blondes and the cute cat videos Tim spams their group text chain with. "Something wrong?" he asks, but Boyd just shakes his head.
"Planning," he says, and Raylan winces. Boyd huffs a breath of humorless laughter. "Those happen to be my sentiments exactly."
Raylan reaches out, squeezing Boyd's shoulder gently. "I'd offer my help," he says, "but I think we both know how useful I'd be here."
"Just about as useful as a screen door on a submarine, or as a knitted condom?"
Raylan snorts inelegantly, and the smile that creeps across his face is just about as soothing as a stiff drink. "Colorful," he says dryly. "You've got this. You’re good, Boyd.”
Boyd looks up at him, and he knows the disbelief has to be spelled out across his features plain as day. “I have been a great number of things in my life, Raylan, but I think we both know ‘good’ has never been high on my list of attributes.”
“Boyd." Raylan's voice is firm, bordering on chastising. "I ain’t telling you that you’re a good man. You’re no saint. But you’re good at this. You've got the mind for it. All the details, the ins and outs, the fucking politics – it all makes sense to you, and you make it work for you."
Boyd blinks, a little taken aback by the earnestness in Raylan's voice. "And here I never thought I'd see the day Raylan Givens praised me for being a criminal mastermind," he says, teasing because he's still trying to wrap his mind around the truth of it himself.
Raylan smiles. "Don't let it go to your head," he says, though the kiss he brushes over Boyd's temple belies his words. "And don't stay up too late, all right? We miss you."
He leaves before Boyd can muster much more than a quiet little sound of affirmation.
~~~~
Two a.m. rolls around, and Boyd finally sets aside his reading glasses and abandons the plan – until the morning, at least. He'll have to finish it, have to find a way to account for the inevitable retribution, if they don't manage to raze the whole operation to the ground.
He's almost certain they'll be able to. But he still needs a plan, and a backup plan, and a last-resort plan. He wasn't ever fond of problems following him home, but now he has something to lose. Someone to lose – more than one, actually.
And that is not an acceptable outcome.
He's not surprised to find Tim on the couch downstairs instead of upstairs in bed. They're both night owls, of a sort, and besides – he's not entirely sure what the boys have been up to all day, but whatever it is, Tim hasn't gotten his turn yet.
Boyd takes the empty space in the couch next to Tim, steals his glass off the coffee table and takes a sip of the amber liquid inside. It burns, going down – Tim has a preference for drinking whiskeys that could moonlight as lighter fluid, a habit Boyd is doing his damnedest to break him of. It's… a work on progress.
"You're up late," Tim says.
"If I recall correctly, there is some sort of colloquialism applicable here," Boyd replies. "Something about a pot and a kettle?"
Tim rolls his eyes, taking the glass right out of Boyd's hand. "Not my fault," he says. "I was waiting up for you. I get a pass on this one."
Boyd refrains from wincing only through sheer force of will. He knows how terrible Tim's sleeping habits are. The permanent bags under his eyes are more than enough of a reminder. He shouldn't be staying up, not for Boyd, not for–
"Don't do that." Tim interrupts his train of thought easily. "You Harlan boys and your guilt, it's something fucking else. I was raised Catholic, and even I don't have it that bad."
Tim nudges their shoulders together before throwing back the rest of the whiskey in the glass. "Anyway," he says, "I was waiting up because Raylan got this idea in his head that you didn’t know how much we appreciate you.”
Ah.
"Tim–"
"And, you know, every once in a while he hits the nail head-on."
Boyd sighs. "I do not believe–"
“Nah, listen.” Tim moves quickly enough, throwing one leg over Boyd’s thighs and settling in his lap. He laces his fingers behind Boyd’s neck, and Boyd’s arms come up, more or less automatically, to slide around Tim’s waist. “I’m not gonna tell you that you’re the best, or that you don’t have your faults. You do, in spades. So do I.” Tim leans down and lays his forehead against Boyd’s, and his fingers slowly spread, fingernails scratching through the short hair at the nape of Boyd’s neck. “But you keep us safe. And you do a damn good job of it.”
He leans in the rest of the way and kisses Boyd, firm and insistent, and the arguments Boyd has – the ones he knows, the ones that plague him in the middle of the night – die in his throat.
They’re not gone. Not forever. But for a little while, he can lose them in the warmth of Tim’s mouth and the solid weight of his body, and that's just about as good.

I think G/Pa and MIDA just haven't clicked. There's rumors that Caroline wanted to go to Montreal but had to go to MIDA, and maybe she hasn't fully bought in yet. As you say, while MIDA and IAMO are both new schools, IAMO has the whole structure of IAM to lean on, MIDA is completely standalone and doesn't have more experienced coaches to help them navigate pitfalls. CPom's first season with IAMO was also pretty bad. Like it's easy to forget now that everything turned out so well, but their programs were roundly mocked that season, and Anthony's ankle injury had grown so bad they couldn't hide it anymore. People were calling them completely finished in 2022. G/Pa have likewise admitted to nursing injuries after a season of increasing inconsistency and clear loss of confidence. I thought their FD had a lot of potential at the start of the season that they never grew into, and its hard to say for sure where the fault lays for that.
MIDA has done a decent job of putting new teams together, and their philosophy towards treating skaters is admirable, I'd like to see them succeed. Tanith herself back in her day gave a similarily heartbreaking interview as Christina saying that she knew she wasn't talented, and then after she and Ben switched to Linichuk who made her put on muscle and worked on her skating skills she improved immensely in the just two seasons before they retired, so I think she's a good role model for their female skaters. Katarina Wolfkostin looked SO much more confident this season(although possibly the new partner also helped?). I think MIDA should look into trying to poach someone like JLB or Kaitlin, if she's interested in coaching. Or both! I think that would add a new perspective that would be helpful to their team.
yeah, hopefully Gr/Pa will come back healthy and strong, and we'll get a truer sense of what's possible for them at MIDA. i don't remember CPom being mocked, but there was certainly doubt and a question of Scott's abilities as a coach before Anthony's injuries were known. i just think anyone calling a skater *finished* or going nowhere speaks more about them than the skater. like they're missing the point. their imaginations and their understanding of why people skate, what's possible under the right guidance and support, what fulfillment can be about beyond medals - it's small minded and lacks generosity and belief in the good that sport and art can help inspire in people. also they probably have limited ideas what's possible for themselves
when LaLa and CPom and other teams say they focused on having a good skate and not on their results - then have great results - you know their energy and focus is in positive things, and that that approach works. the Dave Leases of the world can sit down
sorry, i went off on a tangent lol - aww that's true about Tanith. sigh. so many skaters made to feel horrible about themselves and for what? it's good that these skaters are now breaking the cycle. i do kind of think the new partner helped Katarina a whole lot - her old partner had many of the same issues with his new partner, while Katarina looked like a different skater. JLB and Kaitlin as coaches would be really interesting - i know in my head it's not likely they're coming back to competition, but i haven't emotionally let go yet 🥺😅

Well it ain't quite a cottage, but I do live in the country! It's one of those small everyone-knows-everyone towns and there are at least 5 other towns in walking distance.
I don't mind London as a day trip. During the summer my mama and I are going up on the train to visit some of the museums and see a show, but I don't think I could handle being there long term. I'm very much a homebody, you know? Most of mom's side of the family is down here with us, and I think if I didn't have that support system I would break down in a week.
I first read the Percy Jackson books when I was eleven, and I was practically vibrating waiting for the show. In the books it always broke my heart that Percy had to tell Annabeth her brother was a traitor, but honestly Annabeth being there made it so much worse! Leah is such a brilliant actress that I almost started crying!
If the picture Percy keeps of Annabeth in the next season is not one of her at Disney world, I may actually riot! "Be a kid" MY HEART
I think the angst may be one of the reasons QoAaD is my favourite. Sometimes you just need a good cry and a hopeful ending, you know?
(Also the art piece in particular I was talking about was this piece
https://images.app.goo.gl/hkPrdB6a1ad5YrB48 )
Sorry for ruining St. Valentines day for you, I guess? I know it's kind of morbid but I love the story. It's one of the only holidays I actually observe.
So I had never heard any of the songs you picked, so here's a running commentary:
Say don't go
"I would stay forever if you say 'don't go' " HOLY GUACAMOLE ITS SO KIT
"And I'm yours but you're not mine" I don't know if this is what you were thinking but I think to the Blackthorns (at least subconsciously) they're always gonna be Ty's Kit and Livvy's Ty.
"I said 'I love you'/you say nothing back" ITS LITERALLY THEM
"But you won't" it's so them it's actually painful
Into you
"A different country, yeah, maybe that'd be better" Kit absolutely heard this song and took it literally
"I wish we didn't have so many friends in common" that is in fact the downside of making friends with your crushes family and only your crushes family
"So I don't run right into you/even though that what I wanna do" it's so Kit it hurts
"I'm so defenceless when it comes to you" I fully believe Ty, Tessa, Jem and Jace are the only people to really see through Kit's guard (maybe dru, I haven't finished Secrets of Blackrhorn Hall yet)
I miss you, I'm sorry
"You said 'forever' in the end I fought it/please be honest are we we better for it?" Honestly, I think even if the resurrection hadn't happened, they still would have ended up splitting up for a bit, if only so Ty could learn to be just-Ty and not Ty-and-Livvy
"You said 'forever' and I almost bought it" I'm crying
"Nothing happened in the way I wanted/every corner of this house is haunted" screaming, crying, throwing up etc
"Everything I know brings me back to us" no but really, Ty and Kit only knew each other for what, a few weeks? Maybe a month or two at most? (I'm not good with timelines) But everything keeps coming back to each other, no matter how much they may not want it to
I know it won't work
"But it's a lot/all the shine of half a decade fading" I know it was only three years for them, but seeing them break down years worth of inaccurate mental images is going to break me
"And part of me wants to walk away 'til you really listen/I hate to look at your face and know that we're feeling different" Cassie is a big fan of miscommunication, I know this, I'm prepared for this, I'm probably still going to end up crying tears of frustration
Your song choices have left me shaking, they're so perfect it's unreal
If I had to choose?
The night we met by Lord Huron
Let me down slowly by Alec Benjamin
Oh boy. Um, can I say all of them? Probably not. Magnus and Alec, definitely, as well as Kit and Ty. The third? Probably Henry and Charlotte
My hard question: top three platonic relationships in TSC?
-☀️
(P.S. don't worry about it, you take as long as you need)
I totally relate! I‘m also from the countryside, but am currently spending a lot of time in the city because of university. (To be fair the city isn‘t that big and has about 1 Million citizens)
You definitely have to tell me what your favourite museums and spots in London are! When I visited London last summer I was extremely fond of the Fleet Street, the St. James Park and the National Gallery. And I totally understand you (I’m a homebody myself). So when I moved out last October it was really tough and the only thing that was really reassuring was the fact that I share a flat with my sister and drive home every weekend (the city is only an hour ride from my hometown so it‘s fine)
So true! I‘m actually thinking about rereading the PJO books after watching the series. And yes Leah did such a great job, she‘s just the perfect Annabeth! I‘m so excited for the next season, I always loved the second book! Which PJO book is your favourite btw? Mine would have to the fourth (I have always been super interested in the labirynth!
Okay okay, I have to give it you. I‘m currently rereading QOAAD and I absolutely love it. It‘s been four years since I read it and I totally underestimated how good this book was. It has so many interesting plot lines and I just CAN‘T STOP READING!
Please don‘t feel sorry for sharing the true Valetine‘s story with me! It‘s actually super exciting to learn new things every day!
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH OMFG! Not you listening to each song and sharing your commentary with me? 😭 I absolutely adore you for that (and sorry if those songs left you shaking - I think that‘s part of the experience)
STOP! The night we met is one of my favourite songs of all time and fits them so well! 🥹 And let me down slowly?
Tumblr media
It fits them so well oh my lord 😭 (I love how we are giving each other song suggestions that are perfect for another nightly KitTy cry)
The really hard thing about this is to only name three because I love so many! But if I really must pick three it would be: Ty and Julian, Jem and Will, Matthew and James
What are yours?
My hard question: Your two favourite parabatai couples in TSC

Elrond is sitting there watching his older sister cheerfully wave what are clearly reciprocal courting gifts and is like, yeah, I just need to bite the blade hilt here and TELL her. And he does.
And then probably gets to spend the next few hours like;
Anordil: So, like, it's not just good manners to give people a gift if they give YOU a gift?
Elrond, patiently, surreptitiously pouring himself a glass of wine: Little things, like food yes. Midwinter and Midsummer gifting. NOT highly specific thoughtful gifts out of season that require personal crafting or large amounts of money.
Anordil, squinting at the very fancy quill she's bought Erestor: Ah. Um. What about all the jewelry your Feanorians keep sneaking into the dressing table in my rooms?
Elrond, shaking his head: OUR Feanorians, I'm afraid. They're very firm about that. Those are about Noldorin propriety, and affection, but not courting. They're not giving them to you in person or with a signed letter or note. They've given you some with your father's sigal, but never with any of their own.
Anordil, perking up a little: So wait, you have to STATE intention? I didn't do that!
Elrond: You absolutely did.
Anordil: I DID NOT-
Elrond: You went with them on over a dozen outings. You accepted flowers from them both and gave them some in return. You let Glorfindel put them in your hair. (note: In Mandos Feanor threw a fit right then and there about the audacity and impropriety, bet you! XDDD)
Anordil: Wait, no where do the FLOWERS fit in! I thought this was about GIFTS.
Elrond, pained: Anordil. Flowers are a gift. A light sweet, i like you opening courting gift. They're common enough, and don't HAVE to mean romance, true, but then you gave Erestor INKSTONES. And Glorfindel that tooled leather pouch. And then you accepted books and boots.
Anordil: Auuuughhh *poor human turned elf who's love language is gift giving* *whimpers and slides into a puddle of elf under the table*
Elrond, bending to regard her, gently: If you truly do not wish their attention in this way, I can talk to them.
Anordil, muffled face first in the rug: I didn't say that. I just- are you sure? They're THEM and I'm ME? Why would they- (Anordil in no way sees herself clearly. At all.)
Elrond: *suddenly realizes his sister has a few more issues than he thought she did*
Anordil: okay but like, here is the thing! I do like them! I like them a lot! But I am me and they are them!
Elrond: I have it on record they like you too
Anordil: that makes literally no sense! I’m *vague gestures at herself*
Elrond: *slowly coming to the conclusion that being away from other elves and anyone who could appreciate her skills for the past three to four thousand years might have fucked his sister up* Anordil, sister dear, why wouldn’t they like you?
Anordil: did you not just see me gesture to all of me? Do you not see how pretty they are? How skilled they are at like, everything? All I do is make songs and weave. If anything they deserve someone who can keep up with them!
Elrond: you can keep up with them. You do keep up with them. You think I don’t see those little glances exchanged between the three of you during defence meetings? You’re just as important as they are.
Anordil: I don’t believe you
Elrond: will you talk to them at least?
Anordil: I don’t think I have a choice in that. I’m going to have to talk to them sooner or later.
*later*
Anordil: *attempting to be cheerful* so turns out I may have missed some important parts of cultural education while the continent was sinking!
Erestor: if you don’t return our favor-
Anordil: oh no, I do. I like you two a lot. Don’t know why on earth you two would like me but I like you two well enough.
Glorfindel: what? Why wouldn’t we like you?
Anordil: *gestures at all of her* there is nothing special to be found here. In fact I am - in case you haven’t noticed - a bit of an asshole.
Erestor and Glorfindel share a Look.
Anordil: *cheerfully continuing on* anyway. Here are some apology gifts - the hair clip is for Glorfindel and the fancy quill is for Erestor.
Erestor: to be clear, you like us? And are willing to continuing the courting process?
Anordil; *very glad she’s dark enough that the heat in her cheeks doesn’t show* yes. I do like you. Both of you. A lot. And now that I know it’s happening I would like to. Continue it. If that’s okay.
Glorfindel: good. I did buy you another pair of shoes - don’t give me that look you need at least two pairs!
Anordil: I have two pairs!
Glorfindel: you have one working pair - the one I gifted you- and the other pair from your travels that you refuse to take apart and reuse or toss them. You need another pair.
Anordil: *looks at erestor for help*
Erestor; *smiles* that reminds me that one of your fëanorians is looking for you. They said something about a winter solstice dress.
Anordil: ….but I’ve gone to that event before? What’s wrong with my other dresses?
Glorfindel: we’re going together arent we? We should at least all match.
Anordil: 404 elf not found

oct 7 - "please stop saying 'nuts'."
prompt: chestnuts rating: g wordcount: 744 characters: Papyrus, Sans, Undyne warnings: none prompt from this post, read it on ao3 here
——
"Brother," Papyrus says, from behind him, "... Aren't... Aren't roasted chestnuts a... Gyftmas tradition?"
"Huh?" He asks, from where he's sitting, merrily roasting chestnuts over a fire that Undyne set while cooking, "Oh. Yeah, I guess. Weird."
Papyrus is silent for a long moment, and when Sans glances over he's giving him an uncomprehending look. Sans quickly averts his eyes back to his chestnuts to hide the grin pulling at his mouth. Harmless little practical jokes like these are fun, because the worst thing he's doing is confusing Papyrus and anyone else who happens to pop by their house and see him roasting chestnuts over their flaming countertop.
"... Where did you even get chestnuts?" Papyrus finally asks, sounding truly confounded, "I know you didn't buy them the last time we were at the store. I don't think the grocery store we go to even sells chestnuts."
"Meh," He says, "Don't worry about it, Paps."
"I am very worried about it, Sans!"
Thankfully, despite how confounded he sounds, he's definitely not as upset about it as he's pretending he is. Papyrus is well-trained in the fine arts of playing along and committing to the bit — two of the very precious few things he learned from Sans that neither of them resents him learning, and both are a particular Sans-flavored type of nonsense that Undyne is woefully unprepared to deal with.
Papyrus-flavored nonsense is Undyne's specialty, after all the years that she's known him.
Sans-flavored nonsense still leaves her floundering more often than not, especially when Papyrus deigns to participate in it.
When he glances over his shoulder again, she does, indeed, look like she's floundering. She's completely flabbergasted, in fact.
"Why, bro? You don't think I didn't get enough for everybody, do ya?" He asks, innocent as a newborn pup. "There'll be plenty to go around."
"The quantity of the nuts is of no concern to me," Papyrus dismisses, with a keen and mischievous glint in his eyelights Sans can't help feeling proud of, "I am far more concerned over the means by which you acquired the nuts, Sans."
The best part of bits like this is that they're so painfully normal for he and Papyrus' relationship that most of the fun comes from seeing how long they can drag it out before one of them cracks. Frankly, Papyrus usually folds first, because he reaches a point where he can't help laughing as he begs Sans to please stop so he can get back to being productive. Today, though, Sans is barely clinging to his composure.
For some reason, having an 'argument' with Papyrus about the means by which he acquired the chestnuts he's roasting is just hitting him right where it metaphorically hurts. It's really getting him.
Maybe it's that Papyrus keeps saying 'nuts'.
He begins to open his mouth to reply, but he's cut off by Undyne.
"You know, actually, smallfry, I'm also concerned about the means by which you acquired those nuts." She says, even more confounded than Papyrus.
"Yes, as you should be. His acquisition of these nuts truly a mystery!" Papyrus says.
Sans can't help it. He breaks.
He shoves his face into his hand and laughs helplessly into his metacarpals like that'll do anything at all to muffle him. "Oh my God, Paps," He half-wheezes, "Please stop saying 'nuts'."
"Only if you tell me how you got the nuts." Says Papyrus, merciless.
"Stars," Sans gasps, trying to sober himself, "I— I bought them last Gyftmas, Paps. There was a seasonal promotion. They're pre-roasted. I'm just setting them on fire for the laughs."
"Of course you are," Papyrus sighs, but he sounds amused, "I suppose I'll stop saying that word, then. Can I put the fire out now?"
"Yeah." He snickers, "Go for it. Undyne's face was worth the effort."
"It very was," Papyrus agrees, to which Undyne gasps in offense.
"You nerds were just trying to get a reaction out of me!" She deduces, "I oughta wallop you both!"
"Wallop me twice," Says Papyrus, as he grabs the fire extinguisher, "Sans can't take it."
"Rude." Sans says, knowing very well that he's completely correct, "But yeah, we were. You should be used to that by now"
"You're a horrible influence on him!" Undyne says, but he knows she's joking and he therefore doesn't mind, "Turning my bestie against me like this. And for what? Laughs?"
"Well, yeah. Always."
The fire is put out in short order, and Sans hucks the chestnuts straight into the trash. Hopefully Undyne won't set anything else on fire tonight, because he's running out of random items to burn over the flames to mess with her.

I see people on here talking about Riget: Exodus and I feel like I have to tell my story. Last year I went to Venice Film Festival and I bought tickets to see Riget: Exodus, of which I knew NOTHING about, except that it was a tv show and it was by Lars Von Trier.
You see, Lars Von Trier is the reason I bought the tickets. I know he is awful human being, but I also know his works are supposed to be good. And I say are supposed because, you guessed it, I have never seen anything by Lars Von Trier. I wanted to start with Nymphomaniac, but I could only find the censored version of the movies and I refused to watch it because it's either the whole thing or nothing for me. Riget: Exodus was going to be first thing I ever saw by Lars Von Trier ever.
So I go buy tickets for a swedish/danish show I didn't even know was a third season, I don't know what it is about, I don't know the genre, I don't know shit, but they're going to show the entire season in one afternoon and it's going to be 5 hours long. I drag my mother with me.
At first we think it's a horror, then the Brooklyn 99esque opening catches us off-guard.
I proceed to be very confused for the first 30-40 minutes, trying to understand if this is a subtle subversive masterpiece I am too dumb to understand, but at some point I get this is a comedy and then just embrace the madness I am witnessing.
You get the first intermission two hour and a half in, I am laughing my ass off, I am loving Alexander Skarsgård's character (fun fact, only now, by seeing other people post, I realised that's Alexander Skarsgård, but his lawyer killed me multiple times), I almost got an heart attack seeing Willem Dafoe, I am shipping the hell out of Helmer and Pontopidan (sue me), I am having the time of my life.
My mother begs me to release her from this torture, she hardly understands the jokes, she tries to say "Well, we've seen half of it, ain't it enough" I say "No, mother, leave if you must, I will stay here, witnessing the peak of comedic craft. And what's not to love about this? Don't you think this is a new height for comedy in the year of our Lord 2022?". She stays with me.
We watch 5 hours of it. Five. Hours. I am exhilarated seeing the milk cartoon scene, I can't stop laughing, I can't stop clapping, I see some other people in the audience are in my same situation.
I realise at the end of the show we have some of the actors with us in the theatre. I am officially going crazy, it's a fever dream.
(And, for pics or it didn't happen, we got Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Nicolas Bro. They're the only ones I got decent pictures of, but I also took some pictures WITH- yeah you could do that- other actors in the show, Bodil Jørgensen aka Karen was super nice, she hugged me and I sort of melted on the spot. They were also super kind with autographs.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My mom doesn't understand still why I would want to spend five hours of my life like this, but it's fine.
I go home, I want to try and tell my friends about this show, but it feels like a fever dream and they're into internet rabbit holes and obscure stuff, but they've never heard of this. I try to explain how I was killed the scene with the lawyer and Helmer (Halfmer, how it showed on English subtitles) talking about the accusations of molesting the nurse whose name I do not remember (sorry), and at first the lawyer is like "Yeah fuck that bitch" and then it turns out it's also her lawyer so it bills Helmer but it's so complicated to explain how hilarious it was for me to witness that, how I lost my shit at the reveal. I feel I can't put it into words. It feels like I am talking mad.
My mother and I still quote to this day "Little brother" and "Big brother" (I think they were called like that in English, we're italians e we just randomly reference Fratellino e Fratellone and we laugh and the rest of our family looks at us like "everything alright?").
I was starting to believe me and my mum experienced a folie à deux and this show never actually existed and I would be forced to keep all my impressions about it to myself. But it does exist. And you people are talking about it.
So thanks, thank you people talking about this show so I don't feel I went crazy and blacked out for 5 hours during my time in Venice. Thank you.
Also, I gotta ask, people who are fans of this show, how do you came to know it? Is it very popular is Sweden or Denmark? Is it in America? Because I am in Italian gal who spends way more time than she should reading and learning about cinema and I had never heard anyone mention this show in my entire life. I mainly frequent american/anglophone internet spaces and I had never heard of this show (because it's not like I was expecting Italians to talk about it I'll be honest). After Venice all they talked about was Blonde, The Banshees of Inisherin (which I loved!) and The Whale (still have to see that).
I literally saw a post about this show today, for the first time, without looking for it. Fans of the show, this is my weird little story on how I watched Riget Exodus backwards (I actually still have to see the first two seasons, please forgive me). What's yours?

Hi! May I ask why you choose to send cards to people you don't even know? Do you pay for everything yourself?
lolll ya know, valid question. the first year i did it, i offered christmas cards only to my mutuals and they weren't homemade. i just bought some cute ones from target and mailed them off to the people in my group chats and mutuals from tumblr who saw my post and reached out. i had seen some other people offering cards to their mutuals the first christmas i was on tumblr, and i loved that idea so much i wanted to do the same, so i did.
after that first year, though, i had so much fun and had a decent amount of interaction with my blog even if i didn't really know who they were, i figured why not offer cards to everyone? no one has to take me up on it if they don't want to, if they aren't comfortable sharing their address, that's fine! they just won't sign up. i didn't know if there would be a big participation or anything, but i figured it was worth a try. i kinda stepped up my game that year and got some boxed handmade cards that are absolutely beautiful to send out. i still buy a box of those just in case something goes wrong and i run out of my own homemade cards now, so i have backup, because i love them.
more people than i expected signed up for the cards that year, and i had so much fun! it really took a time of year that is full of depression and anxiety and stress and worries for me and allows me instead to focus on other people. on helping others have some cheer during the holiday season. i've always been someone who believed that if i'm having a hard time, the best way to get through it is to turn my focus outward and instead find ways to help other people. so i continued!
i had wanted to try to make my own christmas cards, like i used to when i didn't have any kids and when my oldest was just a baby, but it took a few years to get to the point of being able to do that. it took a lot of work and was of course a much longer process, but i'm not really an artistic person. card making was something i felt like i could do decently well and was a bit more personal, you know? and again, it was a way that i could find joy during a time of year that is insanely difficult for me because it is just riddled with triggers. adding the making of the cards to the mix has meant that the last few years has been a big learning curve for me and i didn't get the cards out on time the last two years... maybe the last three hah but i TRIED and i still sent cards to everyone who asked one, even if they didn't get there until well into the new year haha
this year though you're all getting them on time as long as the postal services do what they're supposed to do haha!
as for paying for them, yes i pay for them all myself. since i purchase everything (except for the stickers i use, which are actually kind of stupidly difficult to find outside of Christmastime) only when they're on sale (usually buy one get one free or something) and use coupons on top of it, things don't really cost as much as they could. especially when you consider that i make over 100 cards using what i purchase, and then still have supplies left over so i can use them towards the cards i make next year too. basically, i spread out the purchasing of the items i use through the year as best as i can to make it more cost effective and less of a burden on our finances at christmas/birthday season in my house. i went a bit more simple with the cards this year compared to previous years because finances have been a lot tighter for us the last six months than what they have been even previously, and i couldn't really fill in the holes of what was missing after everything i made last year. but it was fine, i just figured out a design that would work using just what i already had in my supplies and voila! hehe
so yeah. long story short, i do it because it makes me happy during a difficult time of year for myself and as long as people are interested in cards from a stranger, i'll keep doing it. literally the only thing that could ever stop me is if i didn't have the money to buy the stamps to send them out or something. hehe
hope that helps, and happy holidays!

The book was Twin Crowns! It was okay, like Idid really enjoy the story and the worldbuilding, but there’s two pov characters which somehow made the ending feel really rushed despite it being 500 pages (I think it’s the chaos of having too much going on whike constantly switching back and forth between both characters). Also, it’s apparently part of a series, which I’m kinda meh about because I didn’t know when I bought it since the second book wasn’t out yet. And I’m not really sure if I want to stick with the series or not.
Yeah, there was a really long break between season 3 and season 4 because covid (I think). Tbf, animation also takes a long time. But the show didn’t get cancelled! In fact, it got confirmed for a total of 7 seasons, which it needs because it tends to tell a story over several seasons. Like 1-3 is one story and 4-7 is a different but still related story after a 2-year time skip. But yeah, I get not continuing. I almost quit after s4 because that one was a mess (they have a habit of making things canon in bonus material, which can cause for some amazing whiplash /neg when you haven’t read those), but I decided to still try season 5 to see if it was better (and it mostly was, the pacing is just still a bit all over the place). So I think I’ll stick with it for the last two seasons.
Oh and the original writing is going well! I gave myself a 200 words a day writing goal. It’s still relatively low so it’s easier to make myself write every day (mostly so I don’t drop it immediately when I don’t feel like writing, I just have to open the document and write 200 words, or 150 if it’s really not going). At the same time it allows me to make decent progress when I do feel like writing (mainly because I already have some scene written from when I was figuring out the story and characters so now I can use/rewrite those for this first draft). It’s a lot of fun and I feel like I’m actually writing something good for once. (continuously reminding myself that it’s just a first draft also helps to take the pressure off.)
Anyway, How’s your day going/gone, Bee?
-🌲
hmm yeah multiple pov characters can definitely make things feel rushed depending on how you use it. I try to avoid multiple povs whenever I can because it's just a lot to balance, but I think it can work. you just gotta be careful with it
if you're already feeling meh about the next book I'd say don't bother with it unless you hear some really amazing reviews about it. there's so many interesting things to read out there, if you've already given the story a shot and you're not into it, there's no harm in just reading the first one
oh that's cool that the show didn't get cancelled!! makes sense why I thought it did though if there was a really long pause. glad to hear they're still going strong!! though I gotta admit making stuff canon in the bonus material is. not a great way to go about it. guys cmon.
one thing I remember from that show though was that amaya could step on me and I'd thank her
that's a really good word count goal to have!! 200 words a day is really good progress but it takes so much pressure off for sure. also it's always important to remember that the first draft might end up not looking anything like the final draft so just do whatever you can to get the story down on paper. you can always edit later :)
my day's been alright! had to run some errands, go to appointments, figure out how to drag a gigantic tv box down to the dumpster in my buildings parking garage, cooked fish in an air fryer for the first time- just a lot of stuff lol

Boredom fills me so uh take some brainrot on an idea I am currently working on making into a fic
In summary - A small mountain side tourist-trap town which I've yet to name has been more or less bought out by Quackity, an ex-politician with more than enough money thanks to his husband's 'death' who plans to turn this nice scenic mountainside land into the next entertainment capital of the world. With some main construction points already done such as The Needle and the bare-bones for the grand casino as well as a few others, Q already considers this a major success [even after his failures in being able to turn the land into a man made desert] though with continued construction more and more problems arise as they encroach on the forests. Equipment damages, several accidents and 'animal attacks' ever continuing though in reality there's nothing within this area that should be capable of this. Meanwhile the towns people have their own opinions on the situation, majority displeased with the abrupt renovations and others mostly fine since business is business but with constructions coming to a halt a fair amount of people blame these incidents on the cryptids which are said to live within the mountains. These claims are shoved off as nonsense by Quackity and his team, though the stories are apparently more fact than fiction... Seeing as an unexpected meeting due to a certain someone's inability to see glass causes Q to learn first hand that the tales of this town are more real than one would think.
More details cause wooo-
SBI take up the roles as the cryptids of this town, all with varying lore and legend around them.
Philza is refered to as the Crow-Father, due to several sightings only ever seeing him within the shadows of trees while the surrounding area is filled with a murder of crows, due to this it's generally custom that crows in the town are given right-of-way as well. Over all he has a reputation akin to Mothman, an omen of ill fortune, disaster and death- thus leaving things out wether it be food, shiny objects and things for the crows is said to bypass the Father's judgement.
Techno is so originally named named the Boar/Hog-Man, the 'most easy to provoke' of the quartet. Having several notable attacks that have left cars and buildings damaged, along with people as well having been reportedly mauled. Though these incidents have been written off as 'bear attacks' by most officials. According to most in the town there isn't much that can be done to get on the good side of this one, but in general they've noticed a distinct disappearance of potatoes when they're in season- but best to leave 'offerings' out in the woods and far away from people.
Wilbur has been given the title of The *town/mountain name* Harpy or The Eidolon [Im undecided on the name for him] sightings and incidents with his involvement have been far and few between though even with being the most pacifistic of the group there's been a few isolated incidents with human property being damaged by him or small animals being snatched. Though most sightings have an interesting tie in, being that his appearance was usually brought on by music of some fashion- so far basic in tune singing as well as guitars have been the two to mainly do it. Generally it's not advised to play instruments at night due to this.
Finally, Tommy, who has just simply been titled Verm [alternatively the Vermilion Vermin], having been the cause of numerous missing pets and items his acts are once again normally pinned on wild animals. Though despite this a few townsfolk make it customary to collect the blood of wild game [hunting is a big thing so yeah] and leave it out near wooded areas before and after hunting- as to bring good luck and to hopefully stave off the cryptid from raiding their campsites.
Phil is of course inspired by the mothman legends along with his usual bird vibes/angel of death schtick, Techno doesn't have any real world cryptid tie-ins I'm more so basing him on just a piglin and the blood god stuff, Wilbur takes phantom inspiration primarily with no real-world tie in aside from me partly basing his appearance on the Ropen and Jersey Devil and Tommy takes heavy inspiration from the Chupacabra, I figured both variants of it give the feral goblin energy which he holds so he's some funky combo. Also they are all humanoid to a degree- well except techno he is just a pigman- everyone else is human adjacent and fully sentient for reference.
Oh yeah also if you wanted to know - this'll be a very tnt duo centric fic and they will kiss at some point.
Also please for the love of god feel free to ask stuff about this idea, I have sooo much and I don't know if I can include it all in the fic
