he's probably used to gore and gritty stuff like that since he sees it often being a jujutsu sorcerer and all. not to mention his technique is literally blood. maybe he's desensitized to gore films, the most you'll get from him is a disgusted scowl.
BUT DID YOU SEE HOW QUICK HIS EYE OPENED WHEN HANAMI SHOWED UP BEHIND HIM. YOURE SO FUCKING FR ABT JUMPSCARES. Noritoshi is that guy who wouldn't scream or yelp but gasp really loudly and jump out of his skin.
i feel like they get him most in horror because of the music building up anticipation. if its one of those fake outs where the jumpscare comes a bit after, he's fucked UP. It makes him instantly miffed, as he tries to regain his composure. He swears he's not usually like this, it got him by surprise is all..!
Noritoshi is the type that'd only watch a horror movie if the story is rich and complex. He's the type of guy to like open endings that make you think.. if it's a guilty pleasure movie where all the protags make stupid decisions, he gets annoyed right off the bat.
He's groaning and complaining about how imbecile the characters are, but would still watch it with you because you personally invited him. If he's lucky you could fall asleep on his shoulder or [insert movie cliche here] how could he pass that up? But Noritoshi wouldn't be able to focus on you if he gets twice as annoyed because its a bad movie + jumpscares. it still startles him, but the movie is so terrible, he's embarrassed it got him, especially in front of you!!!
if you get involved and you tell him to quiet down, Noritoshi would shift his focus towards you. like that awkward guy who thinks he's being smooth and lowkey about how he cuddles up next to you. He wants to be the tough guy who's shoulder you can hide in, and he is!! just not.. with jumpscares.......

im just imagining them watching it now. gregory loves the giant and obviously he reminds him of freddy, and freddy probably thinks the giant is 'a respectable fellow' or something. he cries when he sacrifices himself at the end for sure. would not be suprised with gregorys luck if he has nightmares about freddy doing the same after that like you said
and freddy would so be crying or smoking from his processer or something at the scene with hogarth in the snow with the giant thinking he killed him. i think freddy might reconsider his strength after that or understand just how much gregory means to him afterwards and how he would feel if those new fears came true
i think vanessa (i actually have already wrote a oneshot about this) would relate to the giant while watching the movie with the "you are who you choose to be" message. the theme in iron giant is that he was created to be a gun but chooses not to be. i think vanessa would so resonate with that
but i also think shed relate to hogarths mom lmao. just she learned to care for the giant by the end too but had already worried so much about her son and had to watch them go off together and be in danger. i think watching the mom feel hopeless would 1. maybe remind her of her split time as vanny and herself during gregorys night at the pizzaplex and how she (at least was supposed to be) worried about them and gregorys safety
but 2. i think itd force her to consider the idea of gregory (especially him. hes a tiny boy and freddys a hulking robot) and freddy getting in danger without her being able to do anything and having to watch them get hurt, like hogarths mom did watching the giant crash.
nightmares for all of them lmao. it would suck for them to unlock new fears because of a random movie for movie night but i dont think itd be unlocked at all, more like unearthed. like theyd always had these fears that were inevitably going to rise to the surface someday but the movie is just what made them arrive earlier maybe. so they were always gonna have to work through it and this way get peace of mind earlier

last wednesday evening my household received news of a passing within our family. because of this my activity may be spottier than normal, i know its already slower due to playing reload, but i want to thank everyone for their patience. next weekend its likely i will be traveling out of state to attend the funeral & say my final goodbyes, i may or may not be mobile during the travel but absent from here or im / disc communication regardless during that time frame.

Anya saying this made me sad. We know that Loid has been trying his best to go easier on her and remind himself that she’s just a kid but, at the end of the day, the unfortunate reality is that the fate on the world depends on this baby. Loid knows that. She knows that. It’s a lot of pressure to put on a four year old but Loid has to be strict on her grades because the mission is so important to ensure the peaceful lives of so many, including Anya herself.
However, I’ve been thinking about how Loid has been trying to find this balance between allowing her to be a kid while still making sure she’s focusing on her studies. And he’s been doing a great job— he becomes a better father each day. But there are still times when maybe he’s a little harsher on her than necessary.
The thing is, though, we know he’s proud of her. We know he acknowledges how hard she’s been working, even if he can’t bring himself to say it out loud.
Something that we also know is that Anya craves her father’s praise. Not only is she a little girl with a tough past, but the Forger family is a certified words-of-affirmation-as-their-love-language™ type of family, so of course she would want to be told that she’s doing a good job by the person she loves most. It’s a good thing Anya can read his mind and hear what he’s really thinking, but it’s not the same as hearing it from his own mouth.
So then I started thinking: Why doesn’t he tell Anya what he’s thinking? Why doesn’t he praise her and encourage her?
Well, I think it’s because he doesn’t deem himself worthy of praising her. We know from his conversation with Yor back in the first part of the anime that he doesn’t think Anya sees him as a real father— And perhaps he’s just trying to convince himself of that; the idea that she’s not really that attached to him, so that it’s easier to say goodbye when the time comes— But, based on this conversation, we know he believes that, because he’s not her “real” father, his words have no effect on her.
Yes, he had a very productive discussion with Yor about this, and she helped him see it from a completely different point of view (the only point of view aka the fact that Anya loves them both unconditionally and sees them as her only parents), but it’s not like one conversation is enough to really ingrain something in your brain. Just like how, even though Loid has constantly reassured her that it’s not true, Yor still has moments where she feels like a failure as a mother/wife.
Loid doesn’t praise Anya because he doesn’t think it’s his place, since he thinks that Anya doesn’t see him as her actual father. And it makes me really sad because we all know that this baby loves him and Yor more than anything in the world, and all she wants is to make them proud.
But it’s good to see that Anya thinks he’s nice, even if he can be a bit of a monster sometimes 🫶🏼

#brushing my teeth like 😡😡😡😡#selena quintanilla queen of tejano and queen of little mexican american girls that cant speak spanish (me)#when i was like 7 years old i was having a TOUUGHH time at school#cause kids were saying like oh your mom looks weird she doesnt look like our moms!#and my dads white and im very white like visually#so i was getting a lot of people asking like What Are You are you adopted etc etc#and then on the flipside all of my cousins speak spanish but i dont#cause im the youngest and by the time i was born all the spanish speakers in my fam had learned english#so it was very like whatever way i turned i wasnt fitting in#so my mom sat me down and made me watch selena and i criiies and cried#like no i dont look like her but we’re both 3rd gen girls who were a little lost with their cultures and stuff#also dont tell my mom any of this she says im white passing to white ppl but mexicans always Know#which is true ive had mexican people ask if im mixed or wtf is up#its gotta be my nose like 100000%#i think my nose and body type and hair are the noticeable features#i was also raised super culturally by my moms side of the family#also i think its funny that spanish speaking people dont assume i speak it so theyll be talkin shit or something and ill know#i understand it but i dont speak it#but im getting better!! i think i probably can speak it im just not at all confident#i had to drop highschool spanish cause my teacher thought i was cheating#and she did not care when i was like girl i promise i only know this cause of my abuela pls believe me#sorry im rambling i have no clue where this is coming from#but when my grandparents moved here it was like#like 50s racism running rampant#so my grandpa tried to ditch EVERYTHING and like oretend he was italian cause that was more acceptable and all that#so he got rid of every tradition and tried to smash it down as much as he could#so of course that rubbed off on my mom#but my grandpas sisters never tried to hide it#so me and my mom have really bonded over like relearning our culture and i get to go to his sisters to teach me and its just really nice#yeah ok bye
