#finishing up the section of the spreadsheet i was working on and then I'll back to automation baby!!!!!#or more accurately i'll probably be too distracted by my impending ofmd all-nighter lmao#but my coworker who does my code reviews is going on vacation starting friday#and i have tomorrow off#so realistically we couldn't merge my stuff today even if i were able to focus on it lol#the final changes he asked me to make are relatively complicated so it'll take me a few hours at least#but likely more since i havent run the automation on the latest app yet#and i had to update xcode for regression so who knows what broken shit i'll have to deal with#and then he'd still have to review those changes#so the actual merging would have waited until he comes back on the 17th anyway#so i'll just make it my goal to finish my updates by the end of monday#and then get back to the story audit#that will give me two full days of automation work and then four full days of spreadsheet hell#but with my coworker gone i can use that as motivation to try to audit as many stories as i can before he gets back!#so it'll be a nice surprise#just in time for him to have to put together our projections for the leadership meeting on the 20th!#anon

last-minute finished the sweater before i travel. it finished blocking when i was busy packing! love the way the shoulders are structured, i've never seen anything like it esp. not in a top-down pattern. the true miracle is that it didn't turn out too small??
also behold half of the colours i used - or try and spot the two or three that i didn't use >:D

I set a reading goal for myself this year because I finally got back into reading after years of just not really doing it and like, I've read 3 books in 3 days.

so I guess I'm gonna have to start the class on Monday a little later so that I can get that Nokia Arena show ticket lol
#this better be worth it#don't get me wrong the ice hall show was nice#but it wasn't _as_ special as i thought it would have been#of course there were lots of special effect and ROBIN so yeah in that sense it was special#but the setlist wasn’t surprising at all and that's what i was slightly disappointed in 😅#hopefully there'll be more surprises in the setlist for this show but i'm not holding my breath#as apparently it'll be the last show on their 'bug european tour'#and they usually don't make major changes to the setlist mid-tour#the european tour which i'm going to btw. i don't know where they'll be playing but i'm going 😤#also i hate how literally everyone and their mother knew about the nokia arena thing already so no one is surprised 😅#in any case i missed the pmmp tickets because i was an idiot / at work#but this one i need to get alright the monday morning class will have to wait 😤#sorry but the teacher has things to do and concert tickets to secure lol#who's going to the golden circle / VIP with me 👀#*BIG european tour lol i'm on mobile and can't edit the tags anymore#bug tour...😂

Did you know there's a vocaloid who's backstory is that she's a jellyfish (technically hydrozoan because of the organism she's based on though) shrine maiden turned goddess of the deep sea?

I'm glad you kept it broad by only calling her a "Hydrozoan-" the fandom wiki says that she's based off of the Turritopsis nutricula (basically the genus of "Immortal Jellies"), but tbh her jelly reminds me more of... the Craspedacusta sowerbii- or the peach blossom jellyfish
(Here's a comparison, with the T. nutricula on the left and C. sowerbii on the right)
Not only are the tentacles a match (while both jellyfish species have a clusterfunk of tentacles, the peach blossom jelly keeps it cleaner and smaller than the T. nutricula)
Additionally- let's take a look at the Kanji form of the name for the Peach Blossom jelly:
It would seem as if the kanji reading also has some Buddhist/religious connotations I think (I don't actually know much about 真 so anyone with more knowledge can pipe in if they'd like)
(Also, a little tangent, if I may: The kanji for "Moon Jellyfish" is 水水母- tying this jelly to the Moon jelly. It's basically saying that this is the "true moon jellyfish"- which I think is funny considering that the Moon Jellyfish is much more well-known, haha. Anyways, Mamizu-kurage is an adorable name and I just had to share this bit of knowledge with the class haha)
If we look at the concept art, the "peach blossom" gonads of the C. sowerbii are much more visible.
The only thing that ties her to the T. nutricula is her red... Ascot? Neck fabric-thingy? Um, yeah. Honestly I don't even blame them for that design choice though- it adds a much needed pop of colour to her design which is overwhelmed with blues and whites.
(Of course, we only really see her interact with the Immortal Jelly in promo so it's likely that her design was based off of the Peach Blossom jelly and her backstory the Immortal Jelly)

For once, Beau wouldn't have the task of essentially raising a child (as he largely had to do, given the absence of the Gracey parents, often leaving the child-rearing to the staff while they went about their day), wouldn't have to play the role of parent and pedagogue, but could instead be what he largely was to Dorian in his youth-a doting uncle. Out of all the staff at Gracey Manor, Beau was the one who cut his young charge the most slack, letting him out of his lessons a little earlier, willing to let him indulge in sweets and games when his parents weren't looking, as well as treating him not just as his charge and pupil, but as a young friend, who he fondly watched grow up. As such, Dorian quite liked the idea of Beau getting to do the same with his children, who too would no doubt look upon him fondly as "Uncle Beau"-only this time, they wouldn't be reprimanded for addressing him as such.
"And, of course, any children Lizzie and I have will have their grandmother as well," he grinned, adding, "I do believe Mrs. Henshaw is not only giddy at the idea of having a son-in-law, but also having a grandchild to spoil. Lizzie's told me she's a little apprehensive about moving, she's lived in Louisiana all her life, but...she's also excited about her family growing."
It had just been Mrs. Lena Henshaw and her daughter for a lot of years, ever since Mr. Henshaw's death in a farm accident on the Gracey property when Elizabeth was five. It was something else the elder Henshaw and Mrs. June Pace were able to bond over: Louisiana natives, looked down on as working widows, who still loved and missed their husbands, and did all they could to support their beloved children.

I've gotta be honest, I just don't see canon Byler as very likely to happen. They've invested too much time and energy into Mileven, and all indications seem to be that Will's storyline here will be drumming up the bravery to tell his friend about his feelings, dealing with the (hopefully gentle) rejection, and being able to move past it.
There is only one way I could really see them doing canon Byler; if the rumored Eleven spinoff gets greenlit. Netflix wants to be in the Millie Bobby Brown business, and if Eleven is off having solo adventures, it's very unlikely that they're going to want her to have a long term boyfriend cramping her style. So they would need to break Mike and Eleven up, which they have laid enough groundwork to do at this point. But they can't just leave Mike hanging out to dry. They would need to give him some sort of happy romantic ending. And this late in the game, their only options would be to introduce a totally new character for him to get with... or to just have him get with somebody he already has a strong relationship with, somebody who is already established as being interested in him. And I think it's pretty clear which of those two options would be more satisfying.
Even then, they're probably not going to do all that this season. The most I could see them doing is having a mature, mutual Mileven breakup where they both want to remain friends, and then hinting in the direction of Byler. Like maybe Mike has a scare where Will almost dies and he has to reexamine his feelings. He finds out Will has feelings for him and at first he feels bad because he doesn't feel the same, but after almost losing him again, after being forced to contemplate a world without Will, and how bleak and devastating and awful that would be for Mike specifically... suddenly he doesn't know how he feels anymore. Suddenly nothing feels certain. And then at the end of the season, Will comes up to Mike and thanks him for being such a good friend, and says it's okay that Mike just doesn't feel that way about him, he understands. And then he walks away before Mike can say anything, and the season ends on a total reversal of their usual situation, with Mike staring longingly at Will, who is totally oblivious.
They would have to spend pretty much the entirety of the next season having him slowly come to terms with his feelings for it to make sense. But they could do it. They could easily make it work if they wanted to.
So the only question is whether or not they want to.

Today, Lily and I are having a quiet morning in. Her plans appear to be - now that her morning tyranny run is over - cuddling and bringing me occasional mouse toys. As for me, I'll be rereading this cute, relaxing story about a 30yo woman, who lives in a cozy af book cafe, falling in love and living quietly in her new world. I just got in the fifth and final volume on my splurge Thursday, so I figure a reread is in order. Stg there's nothing better than a hot, homemade latte and a manga set in a book cafe. We are at maximum comfort this morning
