I absolutely love your Medusa Reader as well as the interactions between her and Baraka as well as her friendship with Syzoth with the rest of the Earthrealmers and Outworlders and of course the animosity she has for Shang Tsung though he's still attracted to her. I'm also the anonymous person that's been sending you the numerous reactions requests because I wanted to see how you would write out the scenarios that I would ask for and you've never disappointed me. I felt comfortable to reveal myself to you because I was nervous to see what kind of reaction I would get for sending these requests to you. I love the latest scenario that you posted yesterday and I sent you another request though this one is more PG friendly, basically the Outworlders stumbling upon a pet store and them interacting with the animals inside with Medusa Reader and Syzoth encountering the reptiles in the reptile section, Mileena and Kitana as well as Li Mei and Tanya playing with several puppies and kittens and ferrets and Ashrah interacting with several birds while Baraka is asking Johnny why do Earthrealmers keep them as pets and which ones would be delicious to eat scaring the Outworlders and a few customers and maybe Syzoth trying to eat some of the bugs that they sell in the store. You're an amazing writer with incredible talent and I hope to read more from you soon. Keep up the good work, you're awesome!

You and the other outworlders plus Ashrah vaguely wondered about what Earthrealm's fauna is like compared to the other realms. You are all given a chance when coming across a pet store while Johnny was giving you another Earthrealm tour, specifically, a "exotic" pet store, that had a painted tropical bird on the sign. The smell of prey and predator bombarding emanating even just outside the door.

Mileena and Kitana were immediately drawn to the softer looking animals, approaching a pen filled with soft puppies yapping in greeting at the newcomers and another filled with mewing fluffy kittens. Mileena laughed as the puppies tripped over their own feet in their pursuit to greet her and Tanya. The latter lightly jokes/suggests that maybe they train some of these hounds to be Umgadi.

Kitana meanwhile is a few yards from her sister contently petting the kittens and letting them climb all over her, with Li Mei acting as her guard, as old habits die hard. Yet, one could see a small smirk from the former Umgadi priestess as she observes one kitten, the runt of the litter, trying to climb her leg. Admiring the small kit's tenacity. Kitana and Mileena later move their attentions to the small glass case containing ferrets.

You and Baraka followed behind Ashrah and Syzoth as the former wanted to check out the colorful birds there, seeing as the Netherealm doesn't contain any colorful ones nor non-scavengers. However, you lagged behind when your snakes started to hiss up a storm as they all lean towards the terraiums displaying mice and rats, snapping their jaws and flicking their tongues in the direction of the tasty snacks.

"Behave! I'll buy some of them later, just calm down!"

You hurriedly grabbed at your snakes to pull them away, as the rodents within their cases started running around in panic. Syzoth notices one of the store's employees giving you an odd look, and then drags you along to the reptile section while Baraka glowers at the employee until they finally lower their head to avoid eye contact with the Tarkatan.

The Reptile section had to be the most interesting part of the tour. Given how many of your snakes seemed to share many similarities with the serpents being sold here, whether that be in snout shape, eyes, length, or scale color and pattern. Although you had to pull your snakes away from more than one caged serpent, as they tried to eat the smaller ones and curled away from a boa.

Syzoth would remark how some of the reptiles vaguely resemble either relatives or associates from Zaterra. He would point at some of the lizards, such as an "ugly" looking reptile with dull scales and say that it's Archduke Mahazzem before hissing in amusement which you shared in.

"It really DOES look like him."

The Zaterran even pointed at a snake basking on a rock under its heating lamp and remarked that it's you. To which you respond by pointing at a tortoise and saying the resemblance between him and Syzoth is uncanny. While you and Syzoth were ribbing each other, Baraka went off on his own to ask Cage if he could purchase some of the animals, specifically some ferrets, birds, and reptiles. Not as pets but as meat to try out later. Much to Cage's disgust and a few other regular customers' horror. Kitana held the ferret in her arms even closer as did Tanya with one of the pups she was growing fond of.

Cage's disgust doesn't end there as he spots you and Syzoth purchasing some crickets and mice before eating them right at the register, for all to see. At the sound of a child crying, did Cage rush to escort all of you out of the store, not caring for Baraka's protests of not getting anything to eat as well.

Anyways, I have now since revised my answer to a female version of Bondy with the soft touches of Larry. You’re probably like what on earth but let me explain! 😂

I think Van needs someone interesting and someone who would keep him on his toes. If he loses interest, I think you’ve lost him and he’ll move onto someone else. Well we all know Bondy is full of surprises and is very quirky. He has a wide range of hobbies from music to raising stick bugs which would definitely keep Van interested. 😂 I think Van likes someone with a sense of humor. Van can be quite funny and we know Bondy is as well so there will be a lot of laughs. It’s also a bonus if the person is interested in music like Van is. Both he and Bondy share that passion for music and you do see Van listening to what Bondy listens to like Tame Impala and Father John Misty. 🥰 Bondy is also opinionated, independent, and will speak up/stand up against injustice. I think Van would appreciate this (he likes a challenge and likes someone who is independent) but I also think this is where they didn’t get along because I can imagine them butting heads a lot. Bondy is also calm and levelheaded. I feel like Van has a lot of nervous energy that would benefit from someone who is more calm and rational.

And now I’ll bring in Larry’s traits that work well with Van. I’ve noticed that Van values Larry’s opinions a lot which is interesting and I don’t know why. 🤔 Maybe Larry’s approach is a lot softer than Bondy’s if that makes sense. Larry is probably a good listener and will talk things through with Van. Larry is also a positive person. Van is a positive person too but I think Van can get stuck in a negative mindset sometimes and Larry helps him out of it. Larry also has a high tolerance. If you ever watch the tour diary videos, I honestly wonder how Larry hasn’t murdered Van by now. 🙈 Larry is also more domestic where he does the cleaning and caring, and I think Van would love that. 😂

So there you have it! Someone with a mix of Bondy’s and Larry’s qualities in terms of personality.

As for physically, I don’t think Van is that picky. If he gets on with someone, he gets on with someone and I don’t think he’s that picky with looks. ☺️ I remember him saying he fancies models but I’ve yet to see him go after one! The fact that he hasn’t dated a model yet makes me think he’s a bit insecure (like everyone is). I mean we’re talking about someone who said he’s not good looking enough for photos! I think he’d go for someone who’s normal so he doesn’t live in constant fear that his exceptionally beautiful partner will find someone better than him and leave him if that makes sense. 😂 I mean…going off of the women he’s dated in the past and the Instagram stories that he watches, I think he likes naturally beautiful girls that have their own interests and aren’t afraid to be themselves. Sorry for the delay in answering lol, I saw this last night but wanted to listen to the whole thing before forming opinions (I did only vault tracks and like 3-4 songs I was very nervous/ very excited for last night because I didn’t want to stay up till 2 am 😂) So tl; dr: this is where I’m at rn:

😂😂😂 all jokes aside, I really like it! Not a huuuuge fan of some of the orchestration changes but it could have been a lot worse 😂 My main issue is my same issue for all the rerecords— while her voice is more mature now, and I do love hearing the songs with her stronger vocals, it’s always just missing a lot of the raw emotion the originals have which makes sense because it’s been so long but still bugs me. But I also listen to the stolen versions over the Taylor’s versions so after this weekend I will probably rarely listen to the TVs anyways so I don’t let it stress me out too much 😂

My biggest problem is the way she is literally trying to BRAINWASH us into thinking Speak Now is not as it was originally punished. I thought the removal of If This Was A Movie was dumb but the Better Than Revenge lyric change REALLY has me heated. Like, girlie. This is not Picture to Burn where you changed it after the first wave of CDs and 99% of your casual audience doesn’t even KNOW there’s a homophobic version. We’ve been singing Better Than Revenge for 13 years. Changing the lyric completely defeats the purpose of faithfully recapturing the originals with the rerecordings imo? Like just say it’s a silly song and you don’t feel this way anymore and regret the lyric if you want but don’t flat out change it and just pretend it never existed? Personally I don’t even think the og lyric is that bad compared to how scathing the rest of the song is!! The damage was already done!! 😂 But again, Idc I’m just gonna listen to the stolen version anyways so I suppose I should not care that much but it’s just very annoying how she’s trying to alter history!! I was there when you sang it on tour Taylor I WONT FORGET

My favorite thing about the rerecords is always the vault songs and I really like these!! I think they’re miles better than the Fearless ones but probably not quite as good as the Red ones? I need a few more listens to truly form my opinions but I Can See You and Foolish One are standouts to me. And as Amy said earlier Castles Crumbling is VERY Dany coded so I’m a big fan of that one too 🙌

All in all I am lovingggg getting to relisten to this album again as it’s one of my favorites and even with my lil nitpicky things I love this project, I love how much joy it clearly brings Taylor, and I do love getting to hear her current takes on these songs. I feel the European date desire— I really wanted to try for UK tickets but my roommate shut me down lol. However, if she adds a Canadian leg… you best bet I’m hopping that border to see it again 😂 Taylor remains queen and I’m always excited to get to hear new stuff from her!!!

Yeah the hate got to Van early on. There was definitely enough for it to make anyone insecure and soooo many backhanded compliments. Really sucked to see it all unfold over time cause he was always incredibly kind and sweet to fans. By 2016 when most fans came around it had dissipated and he found his new look. Then all the hate started up for their music sounding the same and being average. Most loved him but there was a ton thrown at him both by UK and non UK listeners 😔

Catfish positively shook up the indie scene out here. They were part of the whole 2014-16 tumblr girl scene just as much as The 1975. Outside of tumblr, they were pushed in North America as the second wave of The Strokes type bands which came with insanely high expectations. Seemed like Americans were expecting Van/Catfish to be another Alex Turner/ Arctic Monkeys which was not the case. Indie rock was thriving out here so Catfish kinda got pushed to the side after their second album cause there were better bands (Cage The Elephant won the hearts of Americans first). I think that’s what stunted their growth out here. Ughhh it sucked cause Van’s such a solid frontman and Catfish are great live without being polished. I miss good bands having live grit! That’s why I always loved Catfish. We all know how much Van cares about his craft, fans and that missing vibe from music nowadays.

With all the negative shit going on in music, labels are so afraid to let bands be authentic now. Bands really only need a distribution team (they get their music into record stores/retailers and streaming services) nowadays which doesn’t require a record label. But I guess if you want to go international, record labels help tons. I could go on about this for hours but nobody cares 😂

I did think it was you. I’m really sad to hear there was hate over in the US in the early days but I guess it comes with the territory being in the public eye, must still be v unpleasant to read though and a real knock to your confidence. Still bugs the hell out of me when I hear people complain they released the same album 3 times, you can bet if they came out with a completely new musical direction people would complain about that too!

It’s a shame they didn’t make it bigger over there when they were at their peak in the UK but I think it’s hard for bands to break the States. I wonder what the reception will be like when they tour over there again?

Leaving Canada

After finishing the road trip, the last 2 weeks of September were a whirlwind of activities to sort out things and say goodbye one more time before leaving the country. Although I may have benefited from staying a bit longer, having been on the road for so long made me ready to close off this phase and look forward to the next one, going back home to Europe! 🤩

First priority was to clean everything that I had been traveling with (with thanks to lots of space and a garden hose😁) and then figure out what to put into storage and what to bring as luggage. Initially my intent had been to travel straight from France to Chile, however due to exorbitant one-way air fares, I ended up booking a return ticket back to TO for mid-January.... not sure how this is all going to work out but for now it means that I'm only travelling with one suitcase instead of the 3 that I had already pre-packed. Easier to carry but harder to fit my clothes! 😅

Second key item was to get my car sold, so I got the car deep cleaned over lunch with Tara... something I've never done but should really have given myself as a gift much earlier! 😄 I thought the guy had done a great job at making my car look brand-new again, but he actually apologized to me as he hadn't managed to remove all bug residue from the grill nor the grit of the endless unpaved roads from the tires...the downfall of such an extensive road trip!

That afternoon, 3 accidents on the QEW highway meant that traffic was jammed for miles around, so I tried to wait it out by visiting the first 2 car dealers to get a sense of their offer... suddenly everything seemed wrong with my fab drive, as it needed new tires, new brakes, a chip in the window etc etc... 😯😪 I recognize the sales tactics for what they were but they still pulled me down, so by the time I got back home after taking 1.5 hours over a 20min drive, I was shaken & thoroughly fed up!

Next day, I toured a few more dealers who all basically said the same and then just cut my losses to get it over with (I must be the worst negotiator on earth! 🤣) ... I absolutely have had an amazing time driving my Rogue and I still loved everything about it, but it was time to say goodbye and move on.

Being a bit emotional after signing the papers, I drove by my old house in Burlington (where the new tenants are neglecting the pretty roses I had planted 😣) and then sat on my favourite bench in Paletta Park overlooking Lake Ontario. A mere 10 minutes' walk from where I used to live, I would often come here over my lunch break or after work, a great spot to relax! 😊

Next day, after having handed in the car & safely deposited the cheque at the bank, I was happy to go over to Priyanka & Arnie for a traditional Hungarian dish and meet again with their lovely parents. I first met Priyanka's parents at our MBA graduation over 10 years ago and we've been in touch ever since, having shared many dinners (including with my parents and in Delhi 🤗), theater plays, a powwow and ofcourse the wedding in India! 😍😍

On Friday, I spent hoouuuurs on the internet and phone to arrange anything from bank accounts & medical insurance to booking flights for my travels in Europe. Felt good to clean house and try to close as many things as possible before leaving. In the evening, we had delicious pizza & craft beer in the "Shed" in downtown Dundas.

That Saturday, it was fun times at the Ancaster Fall Fair with Arpita, Navneet and his cousin Nithia. 🤩 I had never been to a farm fair, which had everything from a hot sauce contest, cow & chicken displays to nitro-chilled snacks and prizes for the prettiest tomatoes, hay bales and funny-looking veggies! 😂 Quite an experience and a great afternoon!

On Sunday, I went with Heather for a hike in nearby Dundas Valley conservation area, my favourite forest west of the GTA. I've been here so often that I know most trails by heart but this time we walked in from a residential area on the side so that the forest still felt new. 😀

I spent the second week in Toronto where I lived for 11 years - my personal record of living that long in one city! 😊 - and it felt really good to roam the streets (albeit only for a short period of time before the craziness got to me 😫). For four days I crammed in as many friends as I could see, starting with a great backyard dinner with my old team. Having 9 different cultural backgrounds being represented leads to ever-interesting diverse conversations! 😍

On Tuesday, I had cozy lunch and dinner with my two good friends Kathryn and Lynne, both a bit senior to me hence always providing me with valuable insights that help me put things in a different perspective. 🥰 They're both great examples of how we can continue to have fulfilling lives for many years to come! 😘

Then on Wednesday, a lunch walk with Dana through my old 'hood and the Riverdale Farm, followed by relaxing tea with Natasha, Lance and their mother who I've also known since coming to Toronto and by whom I spent a memorable Christmas in Trinidad & Tobago. 🤩 In the evening, the drinks were tasty as usual when meeting with a loosely connected 😅 but somehow gelling group of Real Estate friends... always a good time!

On my last day in Toronto, I caught up with Harvey over Indian Roti and then had a few lovely hours at the new Love Park at the harbourfront. My final date was with my camping-sailing-drinking group of friends 😎 at the Queen Mother Café, a downtown thai restaurant where I used to go often in the first years. We're all a bit wiser (?!? 😂) then when we first met years ago but the laughs are still there!

Tired & having a terrible cold but feeling blessed with all those friendships, I made my way back to Dundas, where I was grateful to spend the last day with Arpita and Navneet, working a bit in the garden and playing the cool card game Dominion at night.

On the 30th September, they dropped me off to the airport, ready to fly home! 💖💖💖

I have to agree with the last Anon. Something is off with Niko and it worries me. I mean he is more introverted than the others, but gets extroverted when he needs too. I see a lot of myself in him. I love going out with friends and organizing stuff or represent my group, but after it I need sometime for myself to recharge my batteries. And I need time at home to unwind and process everything. I am just worried that everything is just to much for him. Maybe he puts on a brave face, does his job and represents the band but takes every break he can get to recharge his batteries. I mean the tour wasn't planed. The boys them self said that the summer was stress enough and they need a break. I hope this tour will be the last for this year!

(Sorry for the unorganized rant/vent. This had been bugging me for days and I needed this to get off my chest. Here, have a cookie as a thank you for listening to me 🍪)

Just gonna hide my answer behind a read-more, because it's just my irrelevant interpretation and I feel exposed all of a sudden 😂

As I said in the reply to that anon ask, I'm gonna have to just 🤷‍♀️ with this one because I haven't noticed much, apart from the lack of social media presence in Niko's part. He seemed alright the day before they left to the States when he was on live national TV with Joel tasting spicy bell peppers, but who's to say he hadn't just put on a brave face for that too? We just can't know

I do think the fact that The HU support gig came as a bit of a surprise (at least that's what I gathered from Aleksi's streams) is something to be taken into consideration here; I really hope they've kept to that principle of 'only doing something if every single guy in the band agrees to it' Joel talked about in that podcast just a while ago. Which I have no reason to doubt; I mean, it would be pretty awful if they left on tour when some of the guys would've rather stayed at home because x-y-z, but I don't think they'd do that to each other. Then again, someone might feel hesitant saying 'no' if all the others want to accept the offer, and pressurred by disappointing the others they'd say 'yes' even if they're not 100% into the idea 🤷‍♀️ Touring is part of their job, and I'm certain each and every one of them is committed to their goals of world domination, but at the same time I wouldn't blame them if some of them wanted to just chill for a little while, because supposedly they're gonna play lots of shows next year as well, and although they may have had less shows this year in comparison to 2022, the travelling they've done especially during the past summer must have been tiring, so I do sympathize if flying across the Atlantic to spend another four weeks far away from home seems a little less tempting this time around (and what a hassle that flight was too 💀)

I also hope there was no clash of opinions regarding whether or not this tour would advance their goals the way they'd hope or anything of that sort, but again, if that was the case, I want to believe they would've talked it through. These guys have known each other for ages (especially the original five), so I like to think they all can and will open their mouth and say something if something's not alright with them, or that the others would notice if someone's not acting themselves

Of course, on a personal level, they all might behave differently in such situations. I must say Niko's still a bit of a mystery to me regarding his personality, so I'm hesitant to say what kind of behaviour would be in-/off-character for him 🤔 However, I want to believe he makes sure he gets his time to recharge on and off tour, and the same goes for all of them really. Remember that time Niko did a morning TV interview alone when Joel had suffered from insomnia the night before? They're a band of brothers, so I'm sure they'll support each other and step in when needed so that no one has to "put on a brave face" and overwork themselves into exhaustion ❤️ (obviously no one could replace Niko during a show etc. but you know what I mean 😂)
