playing morrowind has really given me a new appreciation of rpgs with no/minimal voice acting. Like idk if the game would be what it is (to me) if the lines were voiced. It asks you to pay close attention to what people have to say, to really understand what they mean, and then allows you to spend as much time as you want reading and rereading through the words by just presenting them as a paragraph. Ik a lot of people don't love text blocks and that's fair, but to me it offers a completely different gameplay experience where the dialogue can be of greater importance because YOU control the flow and pacing of information. You don't have to sit through three or four voice lines just to get to the one you want to check again, and you don't have to wrap up your thoughts by the time the VA finishes speaking. You can just sit and pick it apart!

how do you clone a fey? that's trick question; and fey love those!

@the-navistar-carol (<333) brought up a good point while I was talking about my changeling danny au with her -- Dani! How would she exist in this au? Danny's a changeling - a fae. How would Dani, a clone of him, be created? How do you make a fey? Not through any means that Vlad is doing; you can't make a fey through unnatural means, considering the Fair Folk are nature. And Vlad's not a fey himself -- he's a halfa, even if he could make a fey, it's not in his best interest too. He's a powerful ghost, but even the weakest fae can overpower the strongest ghost. He won't want a clone of Daniel to be more powerful than him.

(In a three tier hierarchy it goes Ancients -> Fae/Mythos -> Ghosts. They all live in the Infinite Realms, but on different Planes. The fae live above the Ghost Zone in the Fey Wild, while the Mythos live beside the Wilds or down in the ghost zone depending on where they are. Places like the Frozone, the Athens Acropolis, and other such large islands climb throughout all three Planes.)

(While Ghosts can travel into the Fey Wild, its generally advised against as the ectoplasm tends to manifest differently there due to close contact magic. It can make it rather disorientating for a ghost, and as human spirits, the Fae living there would jump them faster than they could blink. So unless you're willing to play mind games with 'steal thy name eat thy face' fae, most ghosts keep out of the way of the Wilds. Fey can travel down into the Ghost Zone, they just don't bother.)

That's of course, not taking into account if Vlad even knows Danny's a fae himself. Vlad doesn't ring me as someone who really cares much about ghost culture or the going ons of the GZ. He might be aware that fae exist, but the moment he realizes he can't use them for personal gain he just doesn't bother with them. The risk is greater than the reward, and he'd rather not get eaten. But lets assume he's aware by now that Danny is fey, and has to take that into account while cloning him.

So, how does Dani exist? Good question! Honestly; i'm not sure. She might not exist at all, or if she does, she's more halfa than fey. Vlad would need a lot of human dna and ectoplasm to balance out all that fae magic. He manages to steal DNA from Jack and Maddie to do it, and since Jack's fey ancestry is very dormant its much easier to use alongside Danny's DNA.

In turn, it results in a little girl whose more human-ghost hybrid than clone. With that little extra boost in fey magic making her not a fey, but still relatively powerful. Dani is less of a clone and more of a lab-grown little sister. It's a rather tedious, complex process that has Vlad tearing his hair out trying to figure out. But he does eventually figure it out.

Again I know it's supposed to be a haha reference to the turns into a bear when he's too aroused thing, but in again refusing to brush just over the surface of this character: "I must be careful or I'll lose run of myself again. An Archdruid should show *some* restraint." comes across to me as more melancholy than perhaps intended when a. You take it into consideration that several lines imply that Halsin has issues with self control and self servitude, and presenting an "acceptable" version of himself as an outwards facing authority figure, to the point where he brushes over his own feelings, or pushes things that he wants down in the effort to reflect better what others want from him.

And b. Remember that Halsin was essentially just an apprentice when he was forcibly situationally promoted to Archdruid - he wasn't taught *how* to be an Archdruid or trained for it, or mentored; he was thrust into it because they didn't have any other choice. But they needed someone, so he stepped up. Halsin has spent the last century studying and learning things on the fly or through trial and error, and in a position of leadership like that, he is aware that every failure to uphold that mask *counts* and others *are* very much affected. How many times has he muttered that same mantra? Or heard it thrown around? An Archdruid not having control over their own magic is a big deal. Even when he is no longer Archdruid, he still grumbles it to himself. He's been at it over a century and he *still* doesn't feel like he's gotten it right. Even when he is in a place of progression, of trying to gain hold of himself again, those wisps of failure and self doubt still creep into everything. And that's sad to me.

His eyes don’t leave the screen, while Eddie’s are glued to Buck’s face. “Well, there’s a lot of things I always wanted to do with my family on Christmas, but never got to.” his voice gets even quieter. “But there’s one thing in particular. I, uh, that’s so stupid.” he chuckles quietly, then nods to the screen, where a kid is opening a gift with a bright smile, his family surrounding him. “I wanted this.” he admits quietly, as if embarrassed. He never told Eddie much about his life growing up, but based on everything Eddie knows about his parents, he can imagine it wasn’t great. He never asked, not wanting to pry, but now Eddie wonders what Buck’s Christmas must’ve looked like, especially after Maddie moved out. He must’ve been miserable, and Eddie’s heart is breaking just at the thought.

“It’s not stupid to want a happy holiday with a loving family.” he says softly, carefully. Buck shakes his head, the red in his cheeks now visible despite the dark.

“I mean, that too, I- I never got this, and I always wished- but not just that.” another shake of his head. “I mean, the sweaters.” he mutters under his breath.

“Christmas sweaters?” Eddie asks, not sure if he heard right, just because of how quiet Buck said it.

“I know, it’s dumb. I just always imagined sitting around in matching sweaters, as a family, taking pictures, looking like we belong together, like I- like I belong.” he adds, turning his head away, so Eddie can’t see his face. Eddie reaches his hand further, touching Buck’s shoulder.

“They couldn’t give you matching Christmas sweaters?” he asks incredulously, fighting not to raise his voice.

WIP H A I R update: On the home stretch but currently having a massive fit because -

While I have figured out how to get animations out for bodies (means I could test weight painting IN blender without jumping in and out of the game - muh workflow) - I cannot fathom for the life me how to get the hair dangle meshes exported. I have tried exporting the hair, then exporting 'with rig'. No dice. I have tried exporting it as a multimesh with a whole HEAD + rigs. No dice. I have tried exporting a whole goddamn NPC WITH HEAD + RIGS. NO. DICE. I always get some bone refusal error -

I have done this on both Wolvenkit builds (stable + nightly). This goes not only for npcs but other hair. Sometimes it's a different bone. I haven't exactly tested EVERY hair for exporting but ... christ is this a bug or am I doing something dumb? why is everyone so secretive about hair modding can someone just tell me how to get the dangles out. Yeah I've read the dangle bones tutorial. It only talks about getting shirt dangles out for a hair, not like ... actual. Hair. I don't even want to use them I just want them for a reference. Also possibly so I can look at UUH4V.

Texture weirdness. But I know the problem is something to do with how what I've made is being processed, because the overly bright stuff here is a basegame mesh I used to fill out a section (or maybe it's supposed to be that bright). Or could possibly be me botching something in custom back-faces (switching back to _doubled to see about that one). That one is still very puzzling to me given all the UV's are mapped to the same stuff, using the same material - looks completely fine in blender (as usual). The UV mapping method may be a bit structurally different though but I don't see how this would cause such a major difference? Could be I did dumb stuff with Hair Tools though, I'll get back to you on that one.

I am now back home!! I'm very exhausted, and probably should have gone to sleep a while ago honestly, but.. I ended up having a fair few thoughts about Clio on the way back (and while I was away as well!), so that was nice ^-^

Since getting back to my laptop, I spent a bit of time trying to improve Clio's reference model a little bit, mostly in terms of things like finally adding a toon texture for her face (which was for some reason missing), as well as some general texture edits across the board. I ran the model through MMD for a bit just to check all the changes were okay in there as well as just in PMXe, and in the process of that I decided to render this cute image of her for the fun of it. I hope it's alright to also post it here~

aaaaaa woke up at 5am for a delivery shift at work and then straight off to the city for a dentist appt afterwards.......... tired!! then I have some errands to run, a shower to have, floor to sweep and this year's annual birthday letter to write for James and then I can finally rest...... aiming to finish P3R tonight while James is at work and I can enjoy it without interruptions, right before FFVII Remake p2 tomorrow (assuming it gets delivered, otherwise it will be a next week job) :')

I hope my three day trip with my friends will finally put my mind at peace. I just feel so lonely...
