BMW Motorrad presents the R nineT 100 Years and R 18 100 Years
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BMW Motorrad presents the R nineT 100 Years and R 18 100 Years to mark the anniversary. Exclusive special models limited to 1,923 units. In December 1922, BMW chief designer Max Friz puts the first full-scale BMW motorcycle on the drawing board. At its heart is an air-cooled two-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine. The first BMW motorcycle, the R 32, was presented in September 1923. This heralded the beginning of BMW motorcycle production and launched an unprecedented success story. To celebrate its 100-year history, BMW Motorrad is now presenting the two protagonists of the Heritage experience world - the R nineT Roadster and the R 18 Cruiser with big boxer - as 100 Years edition models. In keeping with the year in which BMW Motorrad was founded, both models are limited to 1923 units each.
Tumblr media
BMW R nineT 100 Years: The great roadster tradition from BMW Motorrad in particularly refined and sophisticated packaging. The reduced design language of the R nineT is shaped by 100 years of motorcycle construction and BMW Motorrad's unbroken passion for the boxer engine. Classic roadster design skilfully sets the scene with a compact tank and upright seating position as well as high-quality materials and stylish design elements. The new R nineT 100 Years becomes an exclusive anniversary edition thanks to numerous other special features. The heart is still the air/oil-cooled, 80 kW (109 hp) two-cylinder boxer engine. In the anniversary edition the legendary engine is accompanied by a wide range of options and an elaborate surface concept.
Tumblr media
Classic Chrome and Option 719 Parts: High-grade paint-on-chrome surfaces and exquisite milled parts and wheels. Paint finishes in combination with chrome surfaces also have an almost 100-year tradition in motorcycle construction. Chrome surfaces, usually consisting of a copper, nickel and final chrome layer are characterised by their hardness and resulting high durability, very good protection against corrosion, but above all by a radiant, mirror-like shine. This made chrome a common stylistic device for designers from the late 1920s onwards, in combination with high-quality paint concepts. The BMW R 75/5 with chrome-plated tank sides and side covers, for example, is legendary at BMW Motorrad. With the new BMW R nineT 100 Years and R 18 100 Years and the Classic Chrome surface concept, BMW Motorrad is reviving this incomparably sophisticated interplay of paint and chrome. The tank is a combination of black with chrome and white double-lining and is complemented by knee pads and a 100 Years badge. Classic chrome is also found on the seat hump. The front wheel cover is also painted in black and features white double lining. The seat bench in two-tone combination black/oxblood rounds off the high quality look. Numerous black components such as fork tubes, air intake snorkel and some Option 719 components complement this harmoniously. The R nineT 100 Years includes the 719 Classic wheels option with black anodised rim rings, the Option 719 Shadow milled parts package with milled cylinder head covers, engine housing covers, seat holders, oil filler plug and the Option 719 Shadow II milled parts package, consisting of adjustable hand levers and a footrest system, pillion footrests as well as expansion tank covers and handlebar end mirrors. Adaptive turning light and the Comfort Package with heated grips, cruise control and Driving Modes Pro complete the extensive equipment of the edition model. An anti-theft alarm system can also be retrofitted as part of the optional equipment ex works or via the range of Original BMW Motorrad Accessories.
Tumblr media
BMW R 18 100 Years: The big boxer stylishly designed using a special paintwork and surface concept with Classic Chrome. The unmissable centrepiece of the R 18 100 Years is the 67 kW (91 hp) boxer engine with the largest displacement ever installed by BMW Motorrad. Both technically and visually, the BMW R 18 borrows from famous BMW models such as the BMW R 5 and puts the focus back on the essentials of motorcycling: Purist, no-frills technology and the boxer engine as the epicentre of riding pleasure. The big boxer is also complemented by numerous special features as well as a high-grade surface concept in the anniversary edition of the R 18. The colour scheme of the R 18 100 Years, like that of the anniversary model of the R nineT, is in Classic Chrome and thus combines black paintwork and high-gloss chrome surfaces as well as white double lining and a 100 Years badge. The paint-on-chrome concept in Classic Chrome is also found on the rear wheel cover in combination with white double lining. The front wheel cover and the side covers are painted in black, complemented by white double lining on the front mudguard. The Option 719 seat upholstered in the bicolour combination black/oxblood with high-quality diamond embossing blends in harmoniously. Black as a symbolic colour scheme of great BMW Motorrad tradition also adorns the engine, transmission housing and rear axle drive. The exact designation is Avus Black - a reminiscence of the legendary high-speed race track in Berlin, where BMW Motorrad once celebrated great racing successes and where the Avus monument with BMW Motorrad factory rider Ernst Henne still commemorates it today. Berlin is also home to the BMW Motorrad production plant. The plant located in Berlin-Spandau is not only a production site, it is also the lead plant for the international motorcycle production of BMW Motorrad. The R 18 100 Years is complemented by numerous chrome parts from the Chrome design option. The high-quality and durable galvanic surface coating can be found on these parts: Handlebar fittings, gearshift and foot brake levers, handlebar clamps, handlebar weights, mirrors, brake master cylinders, brake calipers, engine casing covers, cylinder head covers and intake manifold trims.
Tumblr media
Other features of the BMW R 18 100 Years also include chromed Akrapovič rear silencers with perforated tailpipe trims in the "propeller style" of the BMW brand logo. Safety and comfort are ensured by Headlight Pro with adaptive turning light, reversing aid, electronic cruise control and heated grips. As part of the optional equipment ex works, the new BMW R 18 100 Years can also be equipped with anti-theft alarm system, pillion package, running boards, Hill Start Control, lockable fuel filler cap and power reduction. With the R nineT and R 18 models in the Heritage experience world, BMW Motorrad is paying due tribute to its almost 100-year history and tradition, which is inextricably linked with the legendary boxer engine. Tradition and history can also be found at the BMW Motorrad production plant in Berlin - the birthplace of almost every BMW motorcycle for over 50 years. The iconic design and the unmistakable boxer engine illustrate that it's about the roots of BMW Motorrad, about historically inspired shapes and details, about an authentic riding experience and about reducing motorbikes to the essentials. In short: The Heritage world of experience is all about a unique attitude to life, shaped by the legendary boxer engine. Thanks for the tag @lelephantsnail !! It was so cool to read about your favorite architects!! I'm a gaudi girl myself.
Name- great question, pass for now.
Sign- Taurus sun, cap rising, Leo moon. Lol. I feel embarrassed that I know all this, but I lowkey love astrology.
Birthdate-- no thank you.
Time-- evening.
Height-- short
Favorite artist/band-- cold war kids are my favorite to see in concert! I also love walk the moon, especially their early stuff. Regina spektor, Hozier, MGMT, passion pit, kishi Bashi, Taylor swift (my insomnia music), Nathaniel ratcliff, lizzo, billy Joel, Beirut, and Lord Huron are all honorable mentions.
Last movie- ice age! It was good, though I'm always surprised by how much fat shaming is in movies of that era. Also that so much of the humor was straight up bullying? Lame. I did love the found family aspect and the conscious choice to find new ways of relating to each other. And Sid the sloth is great-- hot tubs and bitches all the way.
Last show- I just started "a league of their own" on Amazon and I am into it. The hair cutting scene? Holy seduction, batman! Also the dialogue is great, I love the costuming. Excited to see where it goes! I just finished only murders in the building and the finale was...weird. Like wtf? It was good! I liked it, but it just felt like filler? When it was the finale? I hope they make another season, I really like the characters, but yeah.
When I created this blog- umm I have no idea. Maybe 2017? Maybe 2015? I didn't really use it until like 2019/2020.
What I post- so when I started it was really just about reposting the things I liked as a way to rediscover what liking things felt like. So really anything that catches my eye, that I find pretty or interesting or compelling.
Other blogs- none!
Do I get asks- only from porn bots. Love you guys, you're doing the Lord's work.
Average hours of sleep- lololololol. Ok the average is probably like 8, but that's only because my fourteen hours are balanced by threes. It's gotten a lot better!
What I'm wearing-- bike shorts, and stolen husband shirt.
Dream job--marine biologist. Lol. But seriously I would love to scuba dive all the time. Umm orchardist and wine maker! Artist! Seriously, I don't really know. These are things I do know--i like doing creative things that make the world a better place, working from ideation to implementation with the ability to create alone and collaborate with a group of trusted, fun people, with a low urgency to impact ratio. So a job that incorporates all that please.
Dream trip-- ahhhh I miss travel so much!! Ok here are a couple of my main dreams right now:
--Wander around the Greek islands for a month or two. Slowly, without too much of a plan, maybe just a daily budget so I don't worry too much. But just drift, and nap, and eat and swim and lounge.
--Go snorkeling/diving in Lombok!
--Drive or bike around iceland. Camp and swim in hot springs.
--Food tour along the silk road route!
Favorite songs-- with lyrics!
Royal blue by cold war kids
"From now on wear my love for you loose
From now on I am just passing through
From now on trust my feeling is true
From now on call me Royal Blue"
Simple song by the shins
"You sure must be strong
And you feel like an ocean
Being warmed by the sun"
Fragments
I'm so mad that this song is from rachet and clank omg.
"And with every new world that unfurls you will find
There is more to your life than the one you designed
There is far more to fight for
Than what you are leaving behind"
Anyone who sees this is welcome to do it!!

DNP Rewatch: TAKE A PSYCHOLOGY TEST WITH ME!
Tumblr media
Date video was published: 09/14/2017 (X)
DNP Main Channel Rewatch: 358
Phil loves a personality quiz.
0:00 - the corgi shirt!
0:04 - well that’s good; the slime video was so messy
0:11 - I love that about Phil’s content; always something different!
0:20 - it’s been a while since Phil had done a “play along” type video
0:30 - I had never heard of this test before this Phil video
Tumblr media
0:42 - I’ve watched this video too recently to do this myself; I already know what the “results” of most of the questions are
1:08 - I don’t know about Phil’s “narration voice” 😂
1:13 - “my mind just went to Captain America” wonder why that could be... also, there was no way he could say “Dan” for this at this point in time (especially if he hadn’t looked up what the test says the answers mean before this video, although I would guess he had)
Tumblr media
1:24 - love Phil getting angry at the quiz immediately
1:40 - “irrelevant mammoth tangent” I love Phil so much. he’s so excited about this
2:17 - I like hearing what Phil says for the questions that require not just a one-word answer
2:22 - no male-Siri-voice at this point
2:47 - oooo, the “dream house” question is particularly interesting now! this would have been shortly before/around the time they decided to buy a house
2:57 - “a swanky penthouse with enough room for a dog to run around” I have to imagine the forever home is some sort of penthouse; they mention that as being a “dream” way too much
Tumblr media
3:26 - I like that he chose to depict this in editing
3:47 - metal is a strange thing to think of for a cup
4:10 - he’s sticking to the “central park” theme here
4:36 - Phil always seems slightly afraid of being judged/revealing too much when he does “personality” type quizzes on camera
4:43 - giggly Phil at Captain America being “the most important person in your life”
Tumblr media
4:50 - “it makes my heart melt” loud Phil!
5:10 - lots of “thinking Phil” in this. also starting to share a bit more about his anxieties than he had in the past
5:43 - “passive” with his problems seems pretty accurate from what we know about Phil
5:53 - Phil with the advice! that is pretty rare
6:00 - Final Fantasy as a reward for dealing with a problem
6:07 - ambitious-Phil also seems pretty accurate
Tumblr media
6:28 - this one is less accurate
6:33 - 100% with Phil on this. if someone shows up at my house without telling me...NOPE
6:46 - lol at the editing with the popcorn, Eliza Pancakes, and the Undertale flower
6:47 - I am surprised he didn’t have food in his picture, but I wonder it it’s because DNP would usually eat on the couch and not at their dining table, so he doesn’t associate having food on the actual table day-to-day
7:09 - going off the rails a a bit here because of that “Captain America” answer 😂
Tumblr media
7:21 - it is hilarious if you were reading his answers here as if he had chosen Dan for the first question, and then he throws the metal cup in the trash
7:35 - “a dirty puddle” the back half of these results are something else
7:41 - annotation call-out of his own mis-speak
7:54 - he did not comment much on that one
8:08 - he is about to leave for holiday after filming this!
This is another more “filler” type of video from Phil in 2017, but I still find him entertaining as usual. I also love his comment in the description: “p.s don't take your results too seriously! It's probably all wrong.”
Phil posted this while DNP were on holiday in the Mediterranean again from September 10 to September 18. They posted quite a bit for a holiday, including fish feeding, coloring, snorkeling adventures, the Dan in the donut pool photo, Phil showing a lot of leg, Phil’s “dive” that Tom Daley commented on, a soft selfie from Phil, and an intense one from Dan. They also were posting very consistent gaming videos around this time.

The new Villainous short, an analysis
Because I have nothing better to do on a weekend! Yay!
I’m pretty sure that at this point everybody knows that a new Villainous short was released today (by “today” I mean November 4 of 2017, if for some reason you are reading this in another day); there’s a ton of references in the short, and since it was in Spanish and at the time I’m writing this there’s not English version of the short (fan made or CN made), I decided to write a “small” analysis of the short video. It’s more likely that by the time I end this, tons of people already posted something like this, but I want to do this anyway. Notice that this is NOT a resume of the video.
The video starts with this:
Tumblr media
Warning!
We are not responsible for the physical, mental and emotional damage that the comments of the Lord and Master Black Hat may provoke in the audience. It is recommended use safety googles or a helmet when you visualize this video. The prolonged exposition to this show may cause sanity loss, soul loss, hair loss, nail loss, welts, itch, hard snot, stomach ache, headache, mononucleosis, tonsil inflammation, farts, desire to pee (it says “desire to go to the bathroom”; I don’t know other places but in Mexico that means you wanna pee), arthritis and swollen eyes, spasms, uncontrollable fits of laughter, urge to wear a hat, villainy, extreme evilness, sharp fangs or teeth, hyperactivity, among others. Discretion is advised. This section is mere filler and had nothing to do with the previous one, you should stop reading before you regret it. We don’t understand why are you still reading. Seriously, nobody reads the warnings and ended watching it (the video) anyway.
Then we cut to this:
Tumblr media
Black Hat Organization
Villain Orientation Videos
Vol. 1 of 666.
Then the video starts with tons of TV’s showing video of several Cartoon Network’s villains as the intro of “Black Hat Organization Lost Cases: Ooo, with Black Hat”. A narrator’s voice greets the watchers because it means that we want to stop being an annoyance at became great villains thanks to the capacitation of the video. Something that called my attention was the narrator’s voice. There’s a Latin-American YouTube channel that dubs fan shorts and comics from Villainous, and the narrator’s voice sounds like the Black Hat’s voice of that channel when he dubs narrators; either CN contacted that guy to work with them (which I think is pretty impossible) or the narrator is Alan himself.
Black Hat then greets the watchers but is shortly cut because he starts to insulted them as he goes mad; later he presents himself, but he says we already know it because, apparently, the short is part of the “Black Hat Organization villain orientation video ahora en español” (now in Spanish) VHS, volume 1, which apparently we bought; according to Black Hat, the point of the video is that he “will mock of the pathetic forces of evil and we will give him our money”. Later we cut to several scenes of the Lich King only to later change to Count Lemongrab, much for Black Hat annoyance. For the rest of the video Black Hat complains about how Lemongrab is, in his opinion, a pathetic villain and points other stuff too.
Regarding Lemongrab as a villain we learn this:
Black Hat says than Lemongrab voice is annoying and that he’s an idiot for not having security as he sleeps.
He shows surprise when he realizes Lemongrab has ears (as he picks his own ear).
He complains about how Lemongrab’s “minions” are “as sweet as 5.0.5.”
Lemongrab’s villain speech is pathetic and that his sentences are too long.
He says that Lemongrab has no class (as Lemongrab strips) and is ashamed of him.
Lemongrab is pathetic because he allowed the Pup Gang to be disrespectful at him.
Lemongrab’s torture chamber lacks of torture devices.
He is “a crybaby, incompetent, poorly dressed guy that only shrieks” (he calls him that as Bubblegum tries to talk with him when he’s torturing Finn, Jake and the Pup Gang.)
His mistakes are: being a big piece of… lemon (he clearly wanted to insult him in this part), being a crybaby and not hiring Black Hat Organization.
However, Black Hat praised Lemongrab when he wanted to eat the apple because that was “fruit cannibalism” and becomes proud when he “tried to eat” Peppermint Butler. He was also pleased when he blasted the Pup Gang and when he tortured them and Finn and Jake.
He ended his analysis by calling Lemongrab “deplorable” in his file.
However, in Black Hat’s opinion Princess Bubblegum (whom he calls “the bubblegum girl”) is THE REAL villain in Ooo because:
After she spikes the dirt Lemongrab was eating he says that she looks like the most intelligent person in the video and even ask Flug is she wasn’t really the villain instead of Lemongrab.
When she says that she knew a way of be her past self all the time Black Hat says with joy: “clearly this girl has a disturbed mind. I’d love to extirpate it from her…”
When Finn is putting the pieces of the candy people on Bubblegum Black Hat says that “is one of the most evil rituals he knows” because she’s using “parts of his minions” to boost herself and he says that that’s pretty effective. Then proceeds to say that he is going to remove an arm off Flug, presumably to boost himself like her.
Black Hat asks if he’s really the only one who sees that Bubblegum is more diabolic than Lemongrab, especially because she created him “and condemned him into a life of suffering”.
He says that Bubblegum is pretty intelligent by “pretending she agreed in her rival’s terms when in reality she’s sending the worst of her society” and that is a really great villain lesson to learn.
He, however shows great disappointment because she didn’t learn of her past mistakes (by cloning Lemongrab); he even says that the situation is going to became worst because “it will end in one of them eating the other”.
He praised her when she was cutting the legs of a candy with her scissors, but the scene apparently became too much for him later.
Black Hat also:
Wanted to see Lemongrab breaking Manfried because “wanted to see his sweets organs”.
Was disgusted of Cinnamon Bun.
Every time Finn and Bubblegum shows affection to each other he becomes really angry.
He says that Bubblegum and Finn should squeezed Lemongrab instead of putting a note. He proceeds to say that he will show an example and calls for 5.0.5. to come.
When Bubblegum rejects Finn Black Hat laughs and says “you can see the part when his heart breaks in half!”
By the way, the information of Lemongrab’s file says this:
Tumblr media
Count Lemongrab
Subject: Lemongrab.
Age: ???
Gender: Male.
Species: Fruit.
Taste: Sour.
Status: Alive (unfortunaly).
Abilities: None.
Occupation: Count.
Creation of the ruler of…
…grab has become independet of…
becoming in the dictator of…
war against the Candy Kingdom…
eating his own clone to…
and satisfied his own hungry of po…
the regimen of the Count Lemong…
At the moment he doesn’t represent a…
for the powerful Candy Kingdom.
creator, the scientist and prin…
Bonnibel Bubblegum alias Prin…
he’s nothing more than one lemon o….
ridiculous and pathetic.
The video ends with a live action Black Hat “squeezing” Lemongrab and with a special thanks list, aka “Black Hat’s black list”. In italics I put the ones I recognized and I could translate; the names in normal letter where the ones I didn’t recognize, even if I traslated their names. The names in black are the ones who have diferent names in spanish, but for some reason were already in English.
Tumblr media
Flug, Vilgax, Yellow Diamond, Marvin (the Martian?), Lex Luthor, Peppermint Butler, Cambot, Phil Ken Sebben, Top Cat. The Red Guy, Mojo Jojo, Mandark, Excusator, Nergal, Katz, Hammerhead, Aku, Grodd, Siniestro.
Tumblr media
Snorkel, Sticky Stud, Secuencia, Diego, Diego Mejia, Gafael, Kimmy, Kim, Black Manta, Spuntaneous, Salmonella Fitzgerald, Him, The Beast, The Kanker Sisters, Father, King Ramses, Malek, Medusea.
Some of the names where recognizables others… not that much. Who are those people? Animators? Future characters?
Regardless of that, we did learn lots about Black Hat:
In Black Hat’s opinion, pineapples are evil, but lemons are useless.
According to him, once he puked on a past minion’s face and that’s the reason Flug works for him now; he says this when he plays with the red skull in his desk, maybe implying that that’s his past minion’ skull.
He says that minions should taste their master’s food first as a safety precaution.
Watching Lemongrab being punched by Finn and Bubblegum make him laugh so much that in one point he loosed control over his powers and the video cuts momentarily to this beautiful picture:
Tumblr media
He also laughs maniacally when Peppermint Butler is crying over the spice serum in his eye and you can hear a little echo in his laugh, perhaps because he wasn’t in full control of his powers at that point.
He stays that “(a minion) only learn their lesson if they can see light at the end of the tunnel”, and that’s why he complains about Lemongrab’s excessive long sentences.
He IS the original Black Hat, the one who created the “black hat” type of villain in movies.
According to him, a real villain shouldn’t let a pubert to be disrespectful at him.
The sound of a hero screaming in pain is “always put a smile in his face”, but then the camera show Black Hat not being happy at all, causing that the person with him (Flug? The narrator? Alan!?) to laugh awkwardly.
“Rule #43 of the manual: Do not stop attacking until your enemy’s heart stops beating!”
But there are other things that fans may not notice:
The fact that Black Hat wants to rip off one of Flug’s arms and use it in a similar ritual than Bubblegum’s to boost his power may suggest that Flug is in fact, not human, but a supernatural creature.
He says that 5.0.5. is indeed a failed experiment. Alan already confirmed that in his Pixelart conference, but now we have an actual canon confirmation.
Black Hat’s manor may have a torture chamber.
There’s a manual of how to be evil, apparently.
Sometimes you can hear “Black Hat Organization”, other you can hear “Organización Black Hat”.
Black Hat’s Organization “please stand by” picture is Cambot fighting against one of Black duplicates (specifically, the short one) who is using a fish as a weapon.
Tumblr media
Technical difficulties. Don’t go away!
The short was clearly archive footage.
Is more likely that Alan was the live action Black Hat at the end of the video.
BLACK HAT HAD A MOUSTACHE!
Tumblr media
See!?
(By the way, why is thay woman smiling? Did she saw a hero coming to her rescue? Is she smiling because the photo? Is she happy because Black Hat is about to kill her? Is she insane as Demencia? Is she Demencia’s ancestor? Is that Demencia!?
It was clearly that the video was shoot just after 5.0.5. creation, because you can see a picture of him glued at the VHS tape’s case.
By the way, in a bigger version of the image you can see clearly that Demencia’s feet are in her head and Flug is in shorts with Black Hat too close to him.
Tumblr media
You can take that as you want.
Also, this picture.

A Spa Day on Cozumel
Tumblr media
What’s your thought of an ideal tour to Cozumel? Snorkeling, beaches, food? While all of this is significant, your trip to Cozumel should not end without a spa day therein. Picture this, you’re lying down on a massage chair or bed, away from the miseries of a worldly demeanor, and lost in your own world. With your eyes closed and your mind relaxed, you could think of everything that your everyday busy schedule did not let you think of. Tempting enough?
Book an Ashiatsu barefoot massage in Cozumel for literally $60 per hour, only! Have you ever heard of a barefoot massage whereby the massager climbs on you and uses his/her feet to massage you? No, right? And even if you have, now is the right time to experience it firsthand. While Reiki is also available, the pressure could be increased or decreased as per your will and this barefoot massage is a deep tissue repair, one that leaves you loosened up. Sally Hurwitch, an American certified therapist helps you forget all your worries and helps your body rejuvenate. Sally being a solo practitioner, you’re guaranteed the same services as you’ve heard of. Customers having experienced this massage has nothing but sheer praises for Sally’s intuition when it comes to applying the right pressure. Buckle up folks, people having backaches now know exactly where to head to.
While most spas are only fillers that tell you a time span but never really follow it up, Sally mentions the time and asks you to keep track, and hands-down there hasn’t been a single time when the massage ended before an hour. Thinking about the perfect surprise gift for your wedding anniversary? This year, book yourselves with Sally and surprise your significant other with a flat-out relaxing dreamy, and comforting massage.

An unpublished photo from 2006. This is a Classic Pens CP4 Richmond sterling silver fountain pen engraved in a moiré guilloche, released in 1997. Paired with the CP4 Washington, the set was the fourth limited edition in the CP series, based on the sterling silver Sheaffer Legacy fountain pen. The pens commemorate the capital cities of the American Civil War. The complex engraving was done using a circular engraving machine dating from 1928 by the Murelli company in France. The Sheaffer Legacy was a modern version of the Sheaffer PFM, a landmark pen introduced in 1959 and noted for its new Inlaid nib and equipped with Sheaffer’s Snorkel filling unit. The Legacy uses a pneumatic Touchdown filler with a removable converter so cartridges may also be used. The pen fills by unscrewing the end cap, pulling out the plunger, inserting the nib into ink and quickly pushing in the plunger. It is fitted with a Sheaffer 18 karat gold Inlaid nib and accented with 22 karat gold plated trim. The cap band is laser engraved with CP4 and the individual edition number. Only 500 sets were produced. #pencollecting #fountainpen #classicpens #lambroupens #guilloche #moire #sheaffer #sheafferpen #sheafferpfm #sheafferlegacy #legacy #sterlingsilver #artpen #penhero https://www.instagram.com/penherostore/p/CXHggVhPXjk/?utm_medium=tumblr

Jeeves Peeves & Nocturnal Emissions - Rob Riggle - Global Investigator
Actor and adventurer Rob Riggle travels around the world in hopes of solving some ancient mysteries. Been there, done that. Actor?  Never heard of him. This program I predict will be nothing but a retread like many others preceding it. The subject matter will be as familiar as your toothbrush. A pirate (Black Caesar) treasure in the Florida keys is tonight's subject.    Recent weather has beached debris from wrecks from the sea. Rob gets a metal detector and 30 seconds later finds nothing. We now know he has a short attention span.  Next a historian fills Rob in on pirate Henry Caesar's history. His ship allegedly sunk off Key West. According to one 'expert'. Good luck. He hooks up with treasure hunters. Rob brokers a bogus percentage deal if treasure is found. He provides food for the crew. That's the deal? I must be behind the times. I thought treasure hunting ships weren't million dollar plus luxury yachts. Maybe the owner purchased the boat with earnings from suckers like him. My take is this yacht wasn't the result of discovering treasure bounties.    Now they're gonna dive with metal detectors. They find an anchor which means they are on top of artifacts. Rob finds a coin. Yes, one coin. It turns out to be a shell. We now know he needs glasses. Then Rob finds a scabbard which he's gonna have a female expert identify.  They fire old muskets on a new 'pirate' ship. Why?  For filler and something to do.  Surprise!  The scabbard of course is much newer than of Caesar's time. Who would of thought?    He asks locals about his quest. These folks have good advice. He's told chances of success will be 'zero'. Never one that listens to reason, he persists. At the Pirate Museum he gets a history lesson on Caesar. There were two Caesars. So instead of one phantom boat, there may be two which he'll never locate. The expert thinks the alleged wreck is in the Northern Keys, which is 100 miles away from where he started. He meets a local there in a small boat who shows him an old bottle he found. Would that not tell a guy that this guide has severe limitations?  Oblivious, they go to a small key with metal detectors to search the beaches. And find a snake under a board. We now know Rob's afraid of snakes. Not one to show off, the guide snorkels in shallow water and finds a small brass pipe and a spike.  One of the crew (Cowboy) from the yacht brings a magnetometer to scan Rob's new location. On a jet ski. Which stretches the limits of credibility since his boat is docked a hundred miles south. The device leads them to some tiny metal misshapen coins. Their value?  Historical.  Which means pretty well worthless. A fitting end with a totally predictable result.    I do have a few conclusions. Obviously this program will not break new ground in solving any ancient mysteries. Ever! But It succeeds in a soft, puffy sort of way. Not because of the subject matter. It turns out Rob Riggle is a comedic explorer who has a clever quip for every situation. He doesn't take himself or the program seriously. And it works!      For better or worse, there's two types of this kind of reality show. One type is where the people are stuck in their situation. Mountain Men is an example of people who have chosen a lifestyle that doesn't change once the cameras are gone. Anything Bear Grylls and his contemporaries are involved in is purely temporary. Some folks sink their savings looking for their fortunes. Bamazon, gold prospectors set in the Amazon jungle, is an example. The opposite would be Josh Gates of Expedition Unknown. If he finds anything at all it's mediocre.  Then he jovially walks away to the next show and subject. They have one thing in common. They all get paychecks from the channels that film them. I'd say the real winners are the folks who survive in wilderness areas. Can you imagine their surprise when a representative from a cable network offers them $15,000 an episode?  To do what?  Nothing they wouldn't do anyway. Kill animals, cut down trees and build stuff. Ho...hum... They are the ones who found treasure without ever looking for it.                                                      Really............Jeeves

Former NBA Center Jim McIlvaine’s 1969 Mercurty Cyclone GT is a Slam Dunk Street Machine
It’s hard to miss Jim McIlvaine and his Grabber Blue 1969 Mercury Cyclone GT. At 7 foot 1 inch, the 46-year-old former NBA Center towers over most, and his Merc, dubbed “Confucius,” makes an equally powerful appearance. McIlvane played pro ball from 1994-2001, in fact his first field goal was a dunk against Shaq. Following his career, McIlvaine moved into the automotive field, signing on as a part-time freelance writer, penning stories for a host of automotive titles and then as a social media specialist for Optima Batteries.
“When I was in the NBA, I had a lot of down time on the road, and that gave me the chance to think about what car I’d like to own. I wanted to get a modern performance car, one I could modify and take to the next level. I couldn’t fit in a Corvette, so I looked Mustangs including the Roush’s Stage 3, but ultimately I ordered a 1999 Z/28 with a six-speed. It was a convertible because I couldn’t fit in the T-top or hardtop. It was bright green metallic and got dropped shipped to Buds Chevrolet in St. Mary, Ohio.
“It was the first LS-1 F-body that Lingenfelter built with 383 stroker. It got Kenny Brown subframe connectors, produced 440 hp at the crank, and had Fiske FM5 17-inch wheels. I signed up on Camaroz28.com in April 1999 and became friends with Chris Frezza and Jason Debler who started the forum. Not long after that, John Hunkins (then editor of the now-defunct GM High Tech Performance and now editor of Car Craft) showed up on-line. He was provocative and controversial and happened to be based in New Jersey. At the time I was playing for the Nets in New Jersey, so they asked if I would connect with Hunkins, and we hit it off. He started reading my posts and asked if I wanted to write for the magazine.
“After basketball, I ended up getting at 2002 Anniversary Camaro that was built by Lou Gigliotti. LG Motorsports did a roll bar, Kirky seats, G-stop rotors, Earl’s lines, black SS five spoke wheels, transmission cooler, and carbon driveshaft. It had an auto transmission and that’s the car I was running at Road America in the early 2000s.
“Optima moved to Milwaukee and Cam Douglass, Director of Product Development and Marketing, was at Road America running a Corvette. He needed help getting the car home, so I offered to haul it back. He worked a deal for me to haul SEMA show vehicles, and later on, I came on to help with social media. We really clicked, and it morphed into a full-time job,” said McIlvaine, who has been with Optima for ten years.
While the F-Body was fun, McIlvaine had his heart set on a full-blown Pro Touring machine. “Pro Touring was really picking up steam, and I wanted to build something, but not another Camaro. I gave a lot of thought to what the perfect car would be. I always liked old Mopars, especially the General Lee, but the prices were so high. It was too much money just to get the car. So I started thinking, what’s the opposite of a General Lee?
“And that would be General Grant and a Mercury Cyclone,” said McIlvaine. “These cars all raced in NASCAR, so I decided on a 1969 Mercury because that’s what ran against the Chargers. In the early 2000’s I started looking for a Cyclone and about 10 years later Jeff Schwartz of Schwartz Performance found a 390, auto-equipped Cyclone. I just didn’t want a Cobra Jet or a number-matching car. I knew I was going to modify it so this car was perfect.
“As for the build, I knew it was going to be set up for the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational that started in 2008. I wanted to run the car hard on the street and track and to qualify for the OUSCI. Even though I work there, I wanted to really qualify like any other participant.”
After securing the car, McIlvaine turned to Randy Johnson of D&Z Customs of Kewaskum, Wisconsin. “He’s built a succession of cars that were nicely done and built to run,” said McIlvaine. “So if you’re going to spend serious money to have a car built, you want it to do anything and everything. That’s what I wanted.”
Johnson accomplished the goal, giving the Mercury legit Pro Touring performance, a stylish NASCAR look, and a surprise under the hood: one that sends Ford purists into a tizzy. While he stuck with Ford Grabber Blue, the engine is not exactly Blue Oval, can you see why?
“The engine is easy to explain,” said McIlvaine, “I looked at the Ford engines and honestly, if you’re looking at the Ford Coyote you need forced induction or nitrous to keep up with what you can do with a naturally aspirated LS engine. There was really nothing comparable that wasn’t really expensive, either, so we went with a Lingenfelter Performance aluminum 427 LS.
“It was [Randy’s] idea to disguise the LS to look like Ford engine, and it’s fooled a lot of people. To create the look, D&Z Customs fabricated his own valve covers and added a distributor up front. Under the dual-snorkel air cleaner lurks a Holley 1,000 cfm throttle body and GM aluminum single-plane intake that’s mated to the LS7. A Holley LS Terminator EFI controls the 50 lb/hr injectors and ignition is fired by an Accel coil and Taylor wires. Ultimate Headers custom-fabricated a set of 1 7/8-inch tubes that flow to a 3-inch Magnaflow system. Other components include a Wagner accessory drive, Power Master alternator, All Star Performance oil cooler and of course there’s an Optima Yellow Top in there.
The engine produces 558 horsepower and 497 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. It sounds fantastic at idle and when the throttle is kicked open, look out. Love it or hate it, the engine is interesting and a unique design feature of the build. “In the [Optima] series there’s a Lingenfelter design and engineering competition. Points are awarded based on build quality, fit, and execution. At the end of the year, all the cars that do well get put on display at SEMA. It’s progressed to when you walk through Optima Alley you see some of the nicest cars at the show and they run as good as they look. The whole series was done to promote the aftermarket.”
Backing the LS is a Centerforce 10.5-inch DYAD twin-disc clutch that sends power to the Tremec T-56 Magnum gearbox. McIlvaine chose a 4-inch aluminum driveshaft from Dynotech that connects to the Ford 9-inch from Detroit Speed.
Randy wanted a name for the car, so we went with “Confucius” because the look of the engine fooled a lot of people. He liked the look of the Torino more than a Cyclone, even though the wheel wells are Cyclone. Randy, again, went with the Mustang taillights. “When you hire someone like Randy, you hire them and then you have to turn them loose. The Grabber Blue is the opposite color on the color wheel from the General Lee. I wanted a Ford color and something that popped. The original goal was to put a roll bar in, but fitment was an issue. We had to extend the steering wheel, drop the floor two inches, and allow the seat to go back almost to touching the rear seat,” McIlvaine stated.
Supreme handling was a major goal so they removed the front factory rails and grafted in a Detroit Speed 1965-70 Mustang front suspension. The front also uses 600-lb springs, JRI double-adjustable shocks and a Detroit Speed rack and pinion. Out back is a Detroit Speed Quadra Link designed for a Mustang, but modified to fit the big Merc. It uses floater axles with C7 hubs, 175-lb springs, and JRI double-adjustable shocks.
Confucius has lots of go, so naturally it needed major “woah.” Wilwood got the call with Spec 37 14-inch rotors and six-piston Aero Lite calipers up front and the same out back with four-piston calipers. Rolling stock consists of Forgeline 18×12-inch wheels with 335/30/18-inch BFGoodrich Rival S tires at each corner.
Along with an amazing list of parts, this Cyclone GT has a bevy of body mods that give it a look of it’s own. “We started in the front with modified front fenders and hood (with heat extractors) and we fit a ’69 Torino grille in there. We installed mini tubs and pulled out the wheel wells for tire clearance. To clean up the lines, we removed the drip rails. There are custom bumpers, the quarter-extensions are hand-made, and we used 1970 Mustang taillights. You’ll note the gas filler door is removed, and there’s extensive work to ensure the door gaps are perfect.”
The interior includes Auto Meter gauges, an NRG suede steering wheel and Cobra seats with custom stitching. As we stated earlier, the original plan called for a roll bar, but it wasn’t feasible considering the location of the driver’s seat, which accommodates McIlvaines, seven-foot plus frame.
“It drove a lot easier then I thought it would, says McIlvanie. “It has 335 series tires all the way around, but Randy did such a good job making it fast and drivable. This car just turns easy It takes getting use to a lopy cam, and it makes me feel good when I drive it. Even from the first time we took it out, it was competitive. So, for 2019, I want to get to some autocrosses and [track events] at Road America, NCM Motorsports Park, and NOLA, which are all Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car Series events.”
Like any project, it takes great people and dedication to see it through. Jim would like to offer special thanks to his wife Gwendolyn McIlvaine and friends, Tobie Johnson, Cam Douglass, Ken Lingenfelter, Jeff Schwartz, Johnny Hunkins, and Pedro Gonzalez.
