saying "all megaten games + persona" would be a huge copout and VERY tedious so I'm just gonna say:

SMTIII (Nocturne), SMT Strange Journey, Apoc are the big ones (other than IV or V, obviously) I post about. Though honestly, you don't really need to play much of anything to get stuff like major plot beats. You could do some light wiki digging also to get a read on a character/event/place if you want to understand a joke without having to play an entire game. No shame in that. It's a very "hold on lemme google something. yeah this is funny" kind of thing. Hopefully it'll get more folks to be like "damn what happens in these games?" and gets them to play or at least know about them! i love spreading awareness of things i love through stuff like silly jokes

I make occasional refs to I and II also but I think you can get the gist of them without playing (SNES titles are simple like that).

my fave persona games (i.e. the ones i reference most, though they all have importance to me) are the P2 duology and 4. Getting into 3 more also because Reload is coming out soon. Those too, maybe? I dunno.

I'm not as versed on Soul Hackers 1 or 2 as the other games but I might drop a ref here or there.

I have yet to really get into DDS or Raidou's games but all the cool megaten fans i know seem to think they're awesome so I still have work to do.

i think when kyle slowly becomes ion next, it should have some weird side effects like the weather being stormy when he’s particularly grumpy, the flowers bloom brighter when he skips past in a good mood, cell phone batteries of surrounding areas get charged or decharged depending on his energy level, the light flicker menacingly when he’s in a particularly angry mood

he’s generally pretty emotionally well-balanced so it’s not a big problem (yet) but if someone he loves is threatened or some shit goes down he could accidentally levels a huge uncontrolled explosion that causes massive destruction

and maybe after a while the lanterns start noticing the weather patterns and stuff so if he’s on earth and there are reports of sudden unexpected bad weather in new york they’d pay him a visit (both out of concern and also perhaps the guardian have sensed or warned of a potential threat level if he gets particularly emotionally unstable but it’s completely unpredictable) and sometimes it is kyle but sometimes it’s just weather you know but there’s no way to tell until they’re there (he has no idea why they seem to be showing up more often recently)

this also wasn’t where i was going with this thought actually i was just thinking the usual ion scary was fun but i also think kyle should be deity-like in odd ways too, like the world shapes itself around him and he increases the risk of volcanic activities on earth by being pissy on earth but he has no idea, but imagine if the guardians think his very existence was dangerous, what would they do then? is there a threat level or at some point that they would sanction his death, maybe before he gets too powerful that it might become impossible for the guardians to even stop or kill him if they wanted to? how would they try it? would they succeed if they do try?

what happens when kyle himself realises this? i mean not a stretch of the imagination to imagine him leaving and isolating far far far away (again) from where he could hurt any of his friends, i’d imagine he might go to mogo first maybe because that’s where if something happens mogo is probably strong enough to counteract it, but what happens when he thinks that he might hurt mogo too? where would he go? it would also be the perfect situation for connor to come into as well given that connor was trained to be a monk in a buddhist monastery which would talk a lot on emotional balance and stuff and might be placed perfectly to try to help kyle (if he would take the help that is given that he might want to distance from connor who is definitely one of his more vulnerable hero friends being a human and all)
