Some more stuff about Vanessa Marbles or marble idk XD

Contains spoilers for a 30+ year old show ft. My fancharacter Vanessa Marbles-Whittaker. Rambling, oc x canon (romantic and platonic), some meddling with canon events, and j*ll*an m*rsh*ll bashing

- i'm thinking about her placement in Odyssey & I'm entertaining the thought of having her "debut" be in 1989 bigbrainmeta

- She arrived in town like right after Connie and Eugene got fired

- So that makes her older than Jason in terms of episodes; she appears a whole 3 years before him 😂

- That first year she did genuinely like her nunnery but didn't really interact with her fellow nuns much keeping them at a distance

- It wasn't until year 2 she started having doubts. Nothing bad happened it just that there was a nagging feeling that she tried to stifle

- Vanessa is afraid of heights that's why she travelled by train instead of plane. She gets nervous by bridges & mountains even a tall hill is enough to make her stomach churn

- She got the job at Whit's End to help herself learn to befriend people & because the show needs more responsible adults lol

- For a time there was rumors about her being a vampire which she took in stride because having sensitive skin she walks around with an umbrella

- Eugene helps her with technology and how to operate the Imagination Station

- "Is that a time machine?"

- "No it's a holographic imagery generator meant to emulate time periods from prehistory all the way to even the future! Well not the future future, still has to figure out how to predict outcomes but I'm working on it."

- Vanessa dead ass got lost at the generator part

- She legit said that she was surprised they didn't blow up Odyssey given how powerful that machine is this around the Novacom arc

- Jason was a total enigma to her like 'who is that crazy fellow' and someone tells her that he's Whit's son & she's like oh. OH John didn't tell me he had kids smh

- They didn't get along at first and had poor communication though Vanessa really did try to be fair

- The funniest moment was when Jason accidentally revealed himself to be NSA and Vanessa revealed herself to be a Blackgaard - THE Blackgaard's daughter

- "Wait so you're mad at me for being a spy but yet you hid THIS from us?"

- "Well yes but actually no, at least you have the entire government on your side everyone literally hates my family jason!"

- Vanessa is very protective of her mother and Uncle Edwin

- She's a somewhat decent actress, she has stage fright sort of but swallows it in order to help her uncle get his play off the ground

- Despite switching to Protestant she still upholds a lot of Catholic values since she was raised as one

-She doesn't have much contact with her mother's side of the family due to strain from her parents divorce again divorce frowned upon in strict Catholic families

- She did give jason a gift for his engagement to Tasha but after that fiasco he tried giving it back to her and she told him to keep it

- In an alternate universe (let's call it marbleverse for future reference) jason proposed to her (having already broke up with Tasha years ago) and she declined not ready for marriage. they hurried up after novacom tho lmao

- Vanessa inherited a Blackgaard Castle located in Connellsville which she retooled as "midnight manor" a haunted house/vacation home

- Vanessa prefers Eugene with his hair down because seeing his eyes creeps her out

- "Six feet apart j*ll*an, six feet apart." Vanessa like everyone else with a brain dislikes villain marshall

- "Hello again it's me Vanessa! Double-S Vanessa, Double-T Whittaker!" She jokes this after she meets j*ll*an the second time

- Vanessa doesn't interact with child characters all that much but a part of her character arc is becoming a cool aunt to jason's cool uncle

- Some kids and connie helped set up a date for jason/vanessa totally not suspicious they knew what was going on and decided to play along; discovered they actually enjoyed each other's company

- During his time as The Stiletto Jason left roses and candy and other tokens around for her to find, which she eventually figured out was a sign of him being alive

- She was mad, relieved, overjoyed at his presence & the rare time you see her cry

- Only other time she cried was when Tom Riley passed because she admired the man

- Meta-wise Vanessa prefers jason's old look though she likes all of his designs

- Vanessa did get her own public access show which was crucial to the novacom arc

- Afterwards she suggested the idea of reforming the boxes into teaching tools, using them as art projects

- Vanessa was so sus of Monica Stone like "you think im not watching you lady?? Think again! I know you, i am watching you!"

- Vanessa and connie are like sisters considering she's an only child; in fact connie waa another close friend she made in odyssey

- If Chris (the narrator) gets sick or unavailable Vanessa fills in for the intro and such is introduced in her workshop painting

- She canonically has a guardian angel named Mariposa who sometimes appears; Mariposa works under Malachi and her human disguise is Posie

- After leaving the nunnery the first thing she did was buy a trendy wardrobe like miniskirts, boots, she was happy she didn't have to were ultra-conservative attire anymore

- She has a pet doberman named angela who ironically hates everyone in town

- If vanessa wasn't with jason her next choice of love interest would've been Richard Maxwell

There isn’t any real age difference in the movies i actually think carol is older, but Brie Larson is 29 years old and Don Cheadle is 54 which is an uncomfortable age gap because of the actors ages alone. its not a good idea for them to follow that route

I made like one post about the q baiting thing and it was a response about how people were talking about carolmaria was the romance in the film, i still stand by it as q baiting tho because honestly it is. All Night Long

Minhyun takes Jonghyun on a journey to find someone who was there all along. genre: sci-fi/fantasy, angst pairing: jonghyun x minhyun?? basically a platonic ship lol word count: 1.6k

1:00 a.m.

Jonghyun lay in bed awake for 45 minutes.

During those 45 minutes, he did 5 things, each distributed between a 9-minute interval. He stared at the ceiling before turning over on his right side and staring at his night table, then on his left to stare at the yellow walls surrounding him. He tried to close his eyes and twiddle his thumbs, but it only made his mind race more. Finally, he decided to stop all movement and think.

You fuck up a lot nowadays, he thought to himself, frowning in the dark. When was the last time you were actually proud of yourself?

He started thinking about his temper taking over the entire day - which usually wasn’t like him at all. He thought about the screams, the chairs falling over, the doors slamming, his mother crying. He wanted to yell in frustration, but he would wake up his family, who he had already decided that they weren’t going to accept him any longer.

You shouldn’t have screamed over that small little thing, he thought again, you’re only bringing your own pain forward.

He wanted to cry, but he couldn’t. No matter how much he scrunched up his face, nothing came out of his eyes. He knew it was going to be another sleepless night, just more tossing and turning and blanket kicking and stress. He tried twiddling his thumbs again, but it didn’t help him fall asleep at all.

He started thinking again; this time about his childhood. From when his mother read him tales from her own youth, or when he met his first friend, whose name he never seemed to remember, but he still loved fondly.

Instead of opening his eyes again to the dark ceiling above him, he kept his eyes close with a smile on his face. He imagined himself as a kid sitting on his bed, and his mother walking over with a book.

“I have a new story to show you, Jonghyun,” she said softly as he laid back on the headrest, smiling at his mother. “Remember Pinocchio?”

“Yep! He’s the one with the funny nose, right?”

“Yeah! Tonight, we’re going to read about his friend, David,” she opened up the book, with a cover like nothing Jonghyun had seen before. He had later discovered it was a story that inspired the movie Artificial Intelligence; a movie he would love throughout his teenage years.

“David,” he said to himself, “I’ll remember that name.”

“The story starts with a boy named David, who was made to love. He meets his family: his mom, Monica, and his dad, Henry. He loves them very much - as much as I love you, son - but they don’t really love him as much as he loves them.”

“Why not?” Jonghyun asked curiously.

“Well, Jonghyun, David’s not exactly their child.” His mother replied.

“Is he... adopted?”

“Sort of like that. So when David finds out that they don’t love him, he writes these letters, and they’re kind of like the things you write for me and Dad, except his parents aren’t going to read them.

“And David has this teddy bear named Teddy, and Teddy can talk like you and I. Monica tells Teddy about everything she feels about David, and they aren’t good things.”

“Is it because she doesn’t love him?” Jonghyun pouted, staring at the book blankly.

“Yes.” She let out a sigh before continuing. “David gets jealous that Monica seems to love Teddy more than him. He continues the letters, but Monica discovers them.”

“What... happens next?”

“David’s actually a robot...” she said nervously, “and Monica tells Henry to take him back to the facility where he was made. He was going to get destroyed.”

Jonghyun’s breath hitched, his body tensing up suddenly. He didn’t say anything.

“So once he gets there, all he thinks about is Monica. And then he goes.”

“And that’s it?”

“And that’s it.”

Jonghyun frowned. His mother didn’t typically tell him stories that had a tragic ending. “There has to be a happier ending, Mom... he has to... turn into a real boy!”

“I’m sorry, but I can’t fabricate the story any much longer,” his mother got up and gave him a kiss on the forehead. “I’ll leave the ending up to you. Sweet dreams, my little Hyunie.”

She turned around as the little boy bunched up his blankets and wrapped them around himself, lying down on his soft pillow. He wanted his own happy ending for the story of David. He wanted David to feel loved.

Jonghyun, from his bed in the present time, kept grinning as his dreams brought him to the past. He watched his younger self sleep peacefully, dreaming up a better ending for the story he had just heard.

Then he felt a tap on his shoulder.

It lingered for a second, before he felt the tap on his other shoulder. “Psst,” he heard behind him, “Jonghyun!”

He turned around to see a boy just around his age, but much more playful. He seemed quite frail for someone his height, but he seemed to be jumping around without a care. “Who are you?”

“I’m Minhyun!” The boy squeaked. “Don’t you remember me?”

“I’ve never seen you in my life,” Jonghyun said blankly.

“Come on, I’m your roommate from college!” Minhyun exclaimed, before his nose grew longer. “Wait... no, shit! I made a mistake. I’m your first friend! We sat beside each other on the bus one day and you told me that your mom tells you the best bedtime stories, and you retold one of them to me!”

“Are you... really?” Jonghyun raised an eyebrow and stared at the elongated nose. “Why are you, like, Pinocchio?”

“I don’t know man, but all I remember is that you told me the story about Pinocchio and his super long nose! It was cute...” The nose grew longer as Minhyun fibbed. “Never mind, it wasn’t exactly cute, but it was inspiring to me. I’m trying to look for the Blue Fairy myself now. Wanna come with?”

“Why would I? I don’t need any wish to be granted or anything.”

“Aw, Jonghyun, you’re lying!”

Jonghyun looked at Minhyun in confusion. “How? How can you tell?”

“I mean, I may show physically that I’m lying, but anyone has their signs that they’re lying! For example, your voice went up by the slightest semi-tone, while your regular speaking voice doesn’t! In fact, you sound monotone most of the time, have you ever noticed?” Minhyun bounced around Jonghyun; happily opposed to the latter’s gloom.

“Okay...” Jonghyun mumbled. “Maybe I do need a wish granted. I’m not sure if I can trust myself in going with you, though.��

“Come on, dude, I’m your first friend! You can never forgot your first friend, can you?” The noticeably more excited boy begged.

Jonghyun sighed and looked up at Minhyun. “Fine - where is she?”

“Up and over there, mate!” Minhyun bounced once again happily towards the doorway, followed by a slouching Jonghyun. The lights were turned on in the halls; much brighter than the younger Jonghyun’s room’s.

“Hey, Minhyun,” whispered Jonghyun, “what do you plan on asking her for?”

“I want to become a real boy!” Minhyun replied excitedly. “I don’t have to go through all this nose-stretching again, right? Do you plan on asking her to become a real boy as well?”

“What do you mean? I don’t like being real... I don’t like being alive.”

“Aw, come on! Look at you! You’re a robot! It looks like you were built to love, but you, like, malfunctioned. Don’t you want to be real so you can love with all your heart and not because of a programming software?”

“We’re almost there, Jonghyun!” Minhyun squealed, sliding down the stairs.

“It’s only been a minute though,” the other boy said blankly. “How close is the Blue Fairy really?”

“Just before your eyes, like my nose here!” The already-long nose of Minhyun’s grew even longer. “Just kidding, she’s not right before your eyes, but she’s real close!”

Minhyun stopped at the bottom of the staircase; Jonghyun right behind him. “Did you find her?” He asked.

“Yep. Right... there.” Minhyun pointed at the younger version of Jonghyun’s mother, who seemed much more depressed than he remembered as a child.

“She’s the Blue Fairy?”

“Uh huh. Your very beautiful mother is the person who’ll grant any wish you want.” Minhyun started for the feminine figure that was his friend’s mother, then realized his friend wasn’t following. “You aren’t coming?”

At last, Jonghyun let out the tears he couldn’t let out earlier that night. He let out the tears that his family, his mother couldn’t see when he was mad.

“Are you crying?”

He nodded.

Minhyun pouted, then went to hug him. “Do you want some time to yourself?”

“I think I’ll be needing more than just time to myself.” Jonghyun sobbed. “Our time’s been short, Minhyun, but I’ll never forget you again. I... I hope you turn into a real boy like you wanted.”

“I hope you do, too, Jonghyun.”

Minhyun’s face then became a blurred sight, and all Jonghyun saw again was his ceiling - except it was morning.

He woke up crying, the streaks of his tears still fresh on his skin.

6:50 a.m.

Jonghyun lay in bed awake for 45 minutes.

He stared at the ceiling for nine minutes. He dried up his tears, then rolled over on his left side and stared at his night table for another nine. He turned around and stared at his yellow walls for another nine.

While his back faced the doorway, his mother called out to him. They talked; they apologized; then they talked again - for nine minutes. Once Jonghyun turned around to face her, she placed a kiss on his forehead, just like she used to do after reading him a story.

For the last nine minutes? He stared at the ceiling yet again, but with the feeling of relief and acceptance in his heart.
