It's more of a private thing AFAIK. Like ... you can do group chats like you can on Skype and Discord but you can't have servers like Discord. Does that make sense??

You also need to ask people for their usernames and whatnot kinda like Discord because, otherwise, you won't be able to chitchat with them. However, unlike Skype and Discord, I don't think you technically add people as friends?? You basically just invite them to talk to you, more or less, IIRC.

But things could have changed since I used it last because I haven't used Wire in about a year. Either way, people like to take screenshots of their Wire profile of their muses and they'll share it with everyone for people to "add" them in a matter of speaking.

hihi, do you know what wire is typically used for? ive personally never used it let alone heard of it before joining the tumblr rpc and i keep seeing it mentioned on the dash lol

Wire was originally used as an alternative to Skype because it's an open-source end-to-end encrypted messenger. They're very privacy-oriented and have no interest in selling your data like Microsoft with Skype.

A lot of people, especially on here, use it as a way to roleplay on there via instant messaging. But you can use it for casual group chats, group RPs, and D&D group sessions. You can also do video calls, screen sharing, etc. It might be a little complicated to work with at first but the more you mess with it the easier it is to handle unlike ... well ... you know ... GIMP (a F2U alternative for PhotoShop).

I actually stumbled upon it on accident years ago because I was getting tired of Skype's bullcrap and wanted something that was more privacy-oriented and genuinely cared about their userbase.

People, don't be fooled. Be more critical of people. Just because they're “nice” doesn't mean you should overlook the nastier things they do because then you give them a free pass to continue being this way. Jussy and KaitlinEXE are old enough to know what they’re doing is wrong. For they the internet is some fantasy world to do whatever it feels like and It's not right.
