Staying at my folks. I lit incense outside (they dislike the smell) and my Grandfather didn't even know what the hell it was or how it worked. He comes up to me later: "what did you do with the incense" and obviously I reply... which part. "The stick" the incense or the stick end? "The stick end". I say I threw it away. He asks if I put water on it. I say yes (obviously dude) and how that's not even the part you burn, that's what holds it. He goes "I know you think you know about this but I know way more than you". Says the man that quite literally didn't even know what incense was or how it worked until I explained it to you. Lord have mercy. They're both annoying to visit because they start up arguments over everything. Give me strength.

In English, my teacher made us participate in NaNoWriMo where we write for the whole month. Of course the rules were more lax (we only had to get to 11,000 rather than 50,000), but we still had to plan and write an entire story (or beginning of one in my case).

If you couldn’t guess from the image above, I basically made a glorified fanfic oops (note: this will never see the light of day.)

The main story plot line (at least the beginning) is based off of "in this game, no, you're not the only target" by gin (tabanthas) (great fic would recommend!) but with a worst case scenario cuz I'm a sucker for trauma bonding (i hope thats not weird, i just like my favorite characters suffering)

I did have to change names as to not raise suspicion from my teacher and alter some basic features, but ultimately I got to just shuck a whole bunch a head cannons on these poor boys.

Sorry for making this lil rant so long I never get to talk about this unfinished story and I really wanted to recommend another :)

I've got some characters I need to do some fleshing out on here that I've talked more extensively about on Discord so here's the list of newer guys I haven't discussed here, or at least haven't gone much into:

Praxxi, one of my alt commanders. An older woman, became commander after her partner, Lopp, lost their life on Claw Island. She's struggling to keep her head above water, keep people from thinking she's losing her grip, and take care of her teenage son.

Ktokka, former resident of the Thaumanova city cube. She was there during the meltdown and it affected her to the point she could nullify the magic of other people. Has an enemies-to-lovers thing with Praxxi, starting when Ktokka was with the Aetherblades in S1.

Mharnii Bruster, another alt commander. A young asura raised from infancy by a noble human family, she's painfully shy and socially anxious, but sharp as a tack and very good at paying attention. Finding her way out of her shell while learning the truth of her past.

Butch Crushfist, legionnaire of the Fist warband, an all-female warband of charr who all were once gladium (and their bandmate Dinky, who is the only not female charr, and none of them care). Sharp and protective, jovial and very loud.

Silas Dreadpyre, a nuFlame member who "defected" under Efram's orders to keep an eye on things and get a read for how others may react to members of the Flame Legion returning to the High Legions. Partnered with Ahlma, currently in the Order of Whispers.

Ahlma, Silas's partner and girlfriend, a bright, energetic necromancer who loves to experiment with potions and tinctures. Helped Silas sort out his thoughts on trans women on account of being a trans woman herself. Surprisingly good at her job.

ok so, my boyfriend mikhail had a younger brother. ive mentioned him before on my old account, ill call him crow. crow is 9 years old, aut¡stic and couldnt speak until he was 8. rabbits have forever been his special interest. he has ARFID as well, and most of his safe foods are foods rabbits stereotypically eat because he said he doesnt want to eat foods rabbits dont eat (with very few exceptions such as pretzels and caramel chocolate). mikhail said within the last year, hes slowly stopped fully walking. he watches quadrobic videos on my nintendo (i have to watch every video before he watches it (long story he saw the cat bl3nder video once and now needs somebody to safety check all videos)). hes really good at it, hes about 3'3 (malnourished due to ARFID) and can jump over 2 feet, runs very very fast, and basically has adopted all behaviours of, well, a rabbit. he says he wants to be part rabbit, but still human, in his words "rabbit boy". we all respect this obviously (i would like to add, this kid means the WORLD to me. hes my favourite kid, hes so sweet i luv him <3). hes in counselling and occasionally sees a pysch1atr1st (him and mike where victim to xtreme abvs3 for years, both of them suff3r from pt$d). the counsellor has said this could be a tr4uma response, because if he can say he isnt truly human, people wont hurt him. the py$ch has said hes just a kid, or on an interent phenomenon. to clarify, he only watches the quadrobic videos because his mum wanted him to learn 'properly' as he was giving himself back problems. crow has no idea what thereotypes or otherkin is. hes homeschooled, and when we are out unfortunately OLDER CHILDREN (14+ usually) yell and call him a furry (he is tiny, looks about 4. he wears hoodies with rabbit ears he asked me to sew on, and we got him gloves so he doesnt hurt his hands on pavements, and shoes that bend properly. he keeps out of the way, never disturbs people. he just wants to be rabbit boy. i would never judge him, i luv when he asks to have rabbit ears, or talk constantly about rabbits. his mum is doing research and is worried he might think hes otherkin or therian. she has no negative opinions on this (she has 7 kids. all of them are wildly dif, and shes a bi nurse.) should she really be worried? is it a bad idea for her to talk with him properly about how he feels this way? im 4nx1ous about him getting upset, or any other negative feeling.

It’s finally time for another character spotlight!

This time: Silas

He/him, pan, asexual, trans

Backstory:

Silas joins the story when he meets Casther during their military academy. Back then Silas has troubles fitting in with the other cadets: He's always in disagreement with others and starts arguments quite often. Most cadets joined the military for patriotism and to aid in the conflicts Amestris has with other countries. Silas on the other hand almost takes pacifist point of views and despises the glorification of war some of the other students spread.

When an argument starts to heat up and ends in a physical fight, Casther (who surprisingly stopped by) goes in between them and manages to scare the attacking students away. Grateful for his aid and aware that Casther has as little friends in the academy as him, Silas offers to become his friend.

They get close close friends quickly: Silas matches Casther's witt and humor perfectly, he's just a bit more calm and collected than him. Before their graduation, Casther offers Silas to join him to Briggs, which he eventually accepts.

Personality and role at Briggs

Silas is a kind soul who cares a lot about the people around him. He always has an open ear for anyone at the Fort and is always happy to help. Because of this and because of his skills, he's highly respected and gets along with everyone, from staff to Sergeants and even commanders.

At Briggs he plays some important roles: On the field Silas often accompanies Casther on missions, acting as his right hand man. Meanwhile in the Fort he acts as an advisor for Briggs' strategies and missions, moments where he often works close with Olivier and Miles. Silas is more of a pacifist, which is odd as a soldier and a strategist. However it serves as his motivation to avoid violence as mich as possible. To him, the best strategy is the one that risks as little lifes as possible, both from Briggs and from the Drachman side. And that's why Olivier respects his plans so much.

The biggest mistake one can make with Silas is to mistake his kindness and reluctance for violence as weakness. Silas is a badass and part of Casther's squad for a reason. His top priority is to protect his team and he WILL kick ass if necessary. In addition to that, he's incredibly smart both emotionally, strategically and when it comes to common sense.

The Magnus Archives is an isekai and the house on hill top road is the truck.

Epilepticon Movie Marathon Anniversary

This is technically the 5th Anniversary of me going through and reviewing epilepsy media and, having accumulated 35 different films, I wanted to highlight 5 favorite films that I've covered. Cheers and here's to more marathons and for better rep overall!

The Sacred Disease (2016)

A phenomenal short film detailing a young woman going off her epilepsy meds and the horrors that she witnesses. The final shot still gives me chills.

2. Silas Marner (1985)

A solid retelling of George Eliot's classic novel, this film follows Silas Marner, a cataleptic weaver, after he is banished from his church. Catalepsy, a potential symptom of epilepsy, is so rarely discussed and Kingsley sells the heck out of the scenes where he has seizures (without indulging in over-the-top dramatics) and the scenes where he's just a guy trying to survive after being abandoned by his religion.

3. One Day at a Time (1975) (Episode: Ann's Secretary)

An episode from the show One Day at a Time (1975) where main character Ann needs to hire a secretary but fears that her new employee may have a drug abuse problem.

I loved this episode because it ended up subverting several of the clichés of "Very Special Episodes". Leslie is plucky and has a good amount of positive self-worth but also she would rather people think of her as a "pill popper" rather than as someone with epilepsy due to the negative stigma of being epileptic. Ann has to confront her unconscious ableism towards people with epilepsy and ultimately concedes that she can't get past it without a lot of effort on her part.

The episode felt more honest about how things really are, that a lot of people with epilepsy will struggle with and even deny being associated with the label of "epileptic" and that even people who are allies will similarly struggle with their own ableism.

4. Control (2007)

A biopic on the life and death of Ian Curtis, lead singer for Joy Division. This film shows up on a lot of epilepsy media recommendations lists and rightfully so. Of all the epilepsy-related biopics I've seen so far, this film had the most mature handling of the subject matter, tackling difficult issues such as drug resistant epilepsy and how people can be negatively impacted by the side effects of medication.

5. Fast Color (2018)

Following Ruth, a woman with an unspecified seizure disorder that is negatively impacting her super powers, I just love that there's a superhero film out there with a main character that has seizures. That's not even representation you can find in actual superhero comic books!

Also: shout out to Electricity (2014). I've rambled about that film in the past but it always deserves more attention. A truly amazing film.

well i watched the last of the mohicans. the handsome man fell off a cliff. i am devastated. what did i just watch
