I can do that! But I'm not sure if there's much else to say! (Also, sorry if I contradict anything I've said before, I made that post a long time ago haha.)

As previously mentioned, Aburame weddings are centred around family first and foremost.

Before getting married, the two getting wed must serve tea to the other's parents/guardians/whoever as a sign that they respect the family they are marrying into.

Vows are also read before the actual wedding.

The couple exchange vows in private the night before the wedding, knowing that the next time they see each other, they'll be getting married.

Because Abruame are very private people, so vows in front of everyone is a bit much.

They do practice the whole 'the couple don't see each other the morning of the wedding' thing.

The vows are supposed to be the last thing each person hears from their partner until they get to the altar.

There is no aisle walking at Aburame weddings. Both partners come from opposite sides at the same time, escorted by a family member or friend of choice.

There are no sit down dinners because Aburame wedding receptions are set up like festivals with food booths and games for people to wander around for the evening.

Abruame weddings happen fairly late in the day because their traditional wedding attire is very bulky and not all that compatible with the hot Konoha sun. So the wedding itself is likely to start around 16:00-17:00, maybe even later in the summer, and the 'reception' is directly afterwards.

The newly married couple are expected to stay together the whole evening.

Except for bathroom breaks, but the other must wait outside haha.

I imagine there'd be a special game that's only played at weddings, but I'm not sure what that'd be.

The newly weds get to play first of course.

Fireworks! I think Aburame weddings end in fireworks.

It will likely be very late at that point, but most people stick around for the end, as long as they're able to.

That would go doubly if it were Shino or Shibi's wedding because they're clan heads, so the wedding would be huge and attended by everyone in the clan.

Shino can't take a lot of medication or even eat spicy food. In any no-ninja-shit AU you would have to give Shino a lot of food and drug allergies to mirror his insects' sensitivities.

I've done quite a lot of research into what foods are harmful/repellent to insects and especially weevils, so here's some potential problem items for any version of Shino.

Allicin (repellent/insecticide): alliums such as garlic and onion

Nicotine (extremely neurotoxic): No smoking!!

Caffeine (neurotoxin): Coffee, chocolate, yerba mate, guarana, tea tree (includes white, yellow, oolong, black, pu-erh, and green, especially matcha, tea)

Capsaicin (repellent): all peppers excluding bell pepper, black peppercorn

Thujone (repellent/antifeedant/insecticide): wormwood, mugwort, oregano, common sage, some mints

Eugenol (powerful insecticide): cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, basil, bay leaf

Eucalyptol (repellent/insecticide): marijuana, camphor laurel, galangal, tea tee, ginger

My personal headcanon is that certain members of the Aburame clan have their own vices and, though they really shouldn't, breed their beetles to tolerate them better. Shibi has been known to smoke a pipe, much to Shino's dismay, and yet, hypocrite that he is, Shino drinks decaf. He'll rationalize it saying that it's not as bad as full-caff, but it's still caffeine.

just randomly- d'you have any neat head-canons for the aburame physiology?

Not a ton, but I do have a few:

~The Aburames have to apply a special solution to their bodies in order to keep their skin soft enough for the insects to pass through easily. The exact formula is a clan secret.

~Thanks to the above, Aburames bruise/get cut easily. It’s one of the main reasons they prefer longer range combat.

~Thanks to the insects and careful breeding, the Aburames can become immune to most diseases and poisons.

~Alcohol is an exception - Aburames tend not to drink, because it interferes with their control over insects. If they do drink, they get drunk almost instantly.

~Also thanks to the kikaichu, the Aburames can vibrate any part of their body at will. (Yes, that includes exactly what you think it does)

~Though even when they’re not electing to vibrate something, Aburame bodies are never truly still. There’s always a light vibration running through them. (It’s unfortunately why the Aburames tend to be in arranged marriages - most find the vibration off putting, and finding people who willingly want to be with them is difficult)

Shibi Aburame Relationship Headcanons

Shibi looked fiiiine when he was younger like wow

𓆃 Quiet but overall very mature, caring and a perfect choice for a partner

𓆃 Would give the shirt off his own back. Despite his introverted nature, he has a way with people

𓆃 You never have to ask him twice for things, if at all. Shibi is very naturally intuitive and will often wordlessly predict your needs

𓆃 It’s the little things really. He notices that you always have a hard time with your front door when bringing the groceries; one day you find the hinges oiled. You keep knocking into the sharp corner of the kitchen table and one day it’s sanded.

𓆃 Shibi is very handy and not afraid to do work around the house. In fact, you can always count on Shibi to do the dishes

𓆃 Even during bumpier parts of your relationship (they’re never fights, Shibi is too understanding for you to ever have a full screaming match), that’s his go-to.

𓆃 If you have an issue, he’ll listen quietly and accept everything you have to say. His responses are relevant and with the goal of problem solving. Then, he’ll do the dishes or another small chore around the house

𓆃 ”If I do it now, you won’t worry about it later.”

𓆃 The only problematic thing might just be how quiet he is. Sometimes you’ll say something to him that he just... doesn’t answer?

𓆃 You may ask him, “Is ___ good for dinner?”. His answer is yes, but he forgets to voice it. Or perhaps, for him, silence is positive or otherwise affirmative

𓆃 But as far as relationship quirks go, too much silence is hardly the worst

The Inuzuka and Aburame Families

Tsume Age: 39 Occupation: Dog walker and trainer

Tsume had always wanted to be a vet -- unfortunately, her undiagnosed ADHD and eventual teen pregnancy got in the way of that. But she loves animals, she relates the best to dogs, and she was firm in her want to work with them for the rest of her life.

So at nineteen, with a fresh baby in a sling around her back, she started up a dog-walking business. Now she employs people under her (and still walks dogs of her own accord)

She's a rough soul, blunt and to the point, but loves her kids with her whole heart.

Hana Age: 20 Occupation: Student (veterinary science) and dog trainer

Hana often feels like the only person in her family who takes life seriously. Her mother is full of life, living impulsively and on the edge. And her little brother refuses to take his epilepsy seriously, instead choosing to ignore signs of it in favour of roughhousing with his friends.

She balances working as a dog trainer, after years of experience with her mother's business, and studying to become a vet, hoping to one day open a clinic that treats and trains medical assistant dogs, like Akamaru.

Having grown up close to (and eventually crushing on) Itachi, Hana still doesn't know whether to believe that he did what they say he did or not.

Kiba Age: 15 (birthday July 7th, turned 15 before the school year started) Occupation: Student, occasionally helps with Tsume's dog-walking business

Kiba was only five when he had his first tonic-clonic seizure, and it rapidly became something he had frequently. With medication it came mostly under control, but in his early teens it started to get harder and harder to keep on top of, and now he has a medical alert dog, Akamaru, who can tell when he starts having pre-symptoms and has him lie down.

Unfortunately for Akamaru, Kiba has other priorities. He takes after his mother in not taking life too seriously, and often favours just getting on with his day, rather than pause to rest when needed.

Shibi Age: 42 Occupation: Entomology professor (specialising in beetles)

Shibi, contrary to popular belief, has always been a very family-oriented man. When his sister died, he and his wife took in her son Torune without question -- and when his wife died shortly after his son Shino was born, he wasted no time in ensuring he could work from home and balance being a sole parent along with his career.

He, along with the rest of his family, has fairly poor vision along with light sensitivity, and so he wears prescription sunglasses most of the time. This also helps him avoid eye contact.

Shibi would stop at nothing to help his sons succeed in a world that isn't made for them.

Torune: Age: 20 Occupation: Student (entomology and medicine, focusing on venomous insects and treatments for their stings)

Torune has no memories of his biological parents, but he doesn't mind that so much. Shibi stood in for them and cared for him when nobody else could, and he got a little brother out of the deal, too.

Following in Shibi's footsteps in a lot of ways, Torune found a love for insects at a young age, and found himself drawn to the macabre side of poisons and venom that came along with them. Being autistic, along with the rest of his little family, he found it easy to lose himself in his study.

Torune was in the same year and classes as Hana, Fu, and Itachi growing up, and was shocked along with the rest of his classmates when Itachi did what he did.

Shino Age: 14 (birthday January 21st) Occupation: Student

Shino was lucky enough to make friends with Kiba at a fairly young age, and Hinata joined their little neurospicy crew a year or so later. Having someone by his side that was brave and headstrong made it a lot easier for Shino to exist in his quiet little shell, and while he frequently did have big emotions, they were mostly contained to whatever he could express using his AAC.

He's definitely gotten better at it though, and as his circle of friends has grown, so has his ability to communicate -- and his ability to recognise and act on his feelings.

Now, with a crush having entered the picture, Shino is going to do his best to make himself understood. Without Kiba's help.
