"these characters in a found family would not neatly assign each other roles reminiscent of a nuclear family bc found family is about unnameable bonds that rarely fit into a nuclear family structure"
RIGHT! but also nothing is more funny/tragic than characters assigning each other the roles of a nuclear family as a way of showing how they expect each other to act, and then it all falling apart bc you cant neatly put each other into roles & boxes and when you do it just ends badly<3
anyway i love Celia, 'Father' of her genderqueer 'Son' Rametto, who is nine years younger than her and puts her on a pedestal as his his father figure; and speak of the devil and you shall summon him bc these two less than a decade apart genderfukers can fit so many father-son issues.
kid. kiddo. "isn't that what fathers do, damage their children"- i am shaking you by the shoulders- choosing someone to be your 'Father' does not get rid of that. getting hurt by your parents comes free with having someone hold the role of raising you, and choosing who it is will not stop that hurt.
- now get Celia down from that pedestal before you tell her 'your not my dad' and then watch her crumble under the weight you put on her shoulders; and watch your worldview shatter as you realize she is just a hurt kid like you; and she isn't your father but at the same time, she is in every way that matters, because you placed her there; and you cant take back the damage that did to both of you.

Frank! fantasy flavor!
rambles:
i really wanted to blend that monk-class inspiration w/ Frank's personal vibe... i like to think that i Succeeded!
i turned his tie into a sort of brooch since, yk. bowties aren't all that Fantastical. they miss the style. also i think they'd be more comfortable with something smaller since he's very active and needs a wide range of maneuverability
i bet Eddie or someone wheedled them into adding the leather shoulder pauldrons - leather to keep it a bit more flexy, and also. it just looks Cool!
figuring out what would replace his vest was tough. i didn't want them to be entirely unprotected, but i couldn't give him straight armor. though i will admit! a sort of tight-fitting crop top was Considered! but i landed on a gambeson vest as the best fit - comfortable, flexible, a Vest, while providing some level of protection! also, gambesons are quilted, which fits Frank's diamond-checkered vest!
ive already mentioned that one of my favorite outfit things is Flowy Pants Tucked Into Boots, so... that choice wasn't very character driven. except the boots are a tall ankle wrap - for that extra stability and strength! their shoes are pretty flexible and are only a few steps away from being slippers.
and the half-skirt - open skirt? - thing (still don't know what its called) is purely some self indulgence. i think Frank looks great in skirts!! also imagining him Throwing Down w/ the added flair of the skirt... damn. it'd probably help confuse enemies too - what're they gonna do next? who knows! the skirt is in the way and adding extra Movement!
i like to think that his knife is either in a sheath attached to the back of the belt, or they have it on their thigh (under the skirt) like Wally's bag. he probably never uses it... punching is the way to go for Frank methinks. it's probably reserved for cutting ropes and fruit
speaking of punching.... wrist wraps! inspired by boxing gauze! pads his knuckles, keeps his wrist compressed, its the best choice for physical combat. though the wrapped knuckles probably always have blood showing through anyway... or no yeah it's mostly other people's blood...
as for scars - Frank probably has quite the collection! i imagine that they've been picking fights since a young age, and in such a dangerous world he probably got hit a Lot until they learned how to hit back. and hit back Well. still, i wanted to give him a cool face scar with a very lame backstory - a book with a crisp, sharp spine corner fell off a high shelf and bonked them in the face at juuuust the right angle <3 he probably stays very fucking quiet about it which makes everyone think there's some intense traumatic backstory behind it. there isn't. Frank's just embarrassed.
closing note: i imagine that Frank has zero magic. literally none. cannot wield it for shit cannot utilize it. he's just like Howdy fr

I have been re-watching She Ra and the princesses of power and noticed something
In the first scene, where Adora and the other horde cadets are training, they're fighting these illusions of princesses
But what's really attacking them are these horde robots,
Almost feels like they're hinting at something there...
Adora has these glasses on, which generate the illusion
But catra never has the glassses. She was never under any illusion
Kinda foreshadowing a bit there aren't they

i will say though that brennan revealing last episode that kipperlilly has been going to guidance counsellor for anger issues since freshman year has absolutely ruined me for seeing her as actually evil. i cannot believe that a teenage girl with anger issues is irredeemably evil i just can't

CSM #124 SPOILERS
So, unless a Denji ex Machina comes in to save the day, Yoru will have to overcome Asa's trauma and really connect with her in order to beat the Falling Devil's influence. Might be easier to just die, honestly.
Also, either Falling is using "fusion" as a food term here, or the Asa/Yoru situation might really be different from being a fiend or hybrid.

fucked up thing about kendall is that he is so scared of becoming his father when it comes to being a parent, he became his mother instead. completely physically and emotionally absent and blaming the other parent for the childrens' problems, because they're in their lives, while never acknowledging how their own absence has contributed to it.

Random TGCF Thought of the Day
The urge to frankencanon Ling Wen’s revised backstory to keep all the cute moments with Bai Jing but still have Ling Wen be actively responsible for Jing Wen’s pseudo-death and somewhat responsible for Xuli’s downfall
(preferably with swd & pm’s backing)

The above is a screenshot of one of tropes from Shadoo's section in the SPM TV Tropes page that caught my interest.
“Never mentioned to be killed...” Hm. If I go by my headcanon of how Dimentio fits into the story of the Pixl Uprising (i.e he's both the Magician's son and the surviving apprentice who defeated the Pixl Queen), then that would give another parallel of how Dimentio was once a hero who had a Pixl that could see the truth who stopped an antagonist who had the Dark Prognosticus who several thousand years later switched sides. And by another parallel, I mean it works perfectly alongside this.
The reason Shadoo exists (if they are the Pixl Queen) is because he couldn't go through with killing his sister; he cared for her too much and now here she is stuck at the bottom of the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials and wanting to exact revenge on the Ancients for sealing her away. Based on how Shadoo has a robotic text box and says that they were created by the Ancients, it can be presumed she forgot she was ever human. She forgot who she was.
Fast forward to the events of SPM and Dimentio's intended kill-shot for Count Bleck gets intercepted by Nastasia and knocks her unconscious in addition to injuring her. Either he had the power of that shot just enough to kill Bleck and no further and that's why Nastasia survived, because why waste precious energy? All he has to do is finish Count Bleck off who is already at death’s door thanks to the heroes.
Or Nastasia was just very fortunate to survive a full-powered blast. My money's on something like the former because Dimentio has well more than enough power to absolutely guarantee no one would survive an attack like that. (the average person who isn't a hero or built for combat— which Nastasia very much isn't— anyway.)
Then there's him saving O'Chunks and Mimi from what would have been certain death by teleporting them to Dimension D. We know they didn't end up in the same place as Peach and Bowser because neither they nor O'Chunks and Mimi make any mention of such. Pair that with the fact that the Void can't be seen from Dimension D and thus heavily implying that anyone inside it would survive the Void that would destroy everything else, and you're left with the only explanation of Dimentio having saved them. I do believe that Dimentio screwed up by not only "catching feelings" and he genuinely did care for the other minions deep down as much as he tries to deny that; and I have mentioned in a prior post about him putting all of the people who could have possibly done something about the Super Dimentio fusion in the same place.
If he hadn't cared as much as he did for them and just left them to their fates, he would have won. I feel that the reason why the floor came out under Bowser and O'Chunks is because of Dimentio— because why make a trap like that that is intended to kill any who don't make it out in time and then have it to where after a certain amount of time, it would give any of the heroes still inside who may somehow still be alive an escape and make a comeback? It makes no sense. And it's because of that, that Peach was able to survive by landing on top of Bowser.
Had he only teleported Bowser out and left O'Chunks, and teleported Peach while leaving Mimi, the minions wouldn't have been able to band together with Count Bleck and Tippi to recharge the Pure Hearts and destroy his invincibility. It was his inability to go through with killing them or just letting them die because he actually cared about them— cared too much— that caused his own undoing.
History literally repeats itself if one subscribes to believing Dimentio is both the Magician's son and the last surviving apprentice.
First Shadoo who may or may not be the Pixl Queen, was spared by her brother who couldn't bear to go through with killing her therefore causing future consequences for if she ever gets free. Then the minions— including Nastasia and Count Bleck who for the latter, Dimentio in his ever present wisdom decided to spare killing for later— with their love for each other that was allowed to continue existing all because he spared them for the time being, recharged the Pure Hearts and caused immediate consequences for himself and was the catalyst for his defeat.
In the first instance, he was on the “heroic” side. For the last he was on the “villainous” side.

reiju's situation is awful, but i think it gets even worse when you realize that in fascist states, not only are women generally deemed lesser than men, but also the role of women is primary to be child-bearers and caretakers. germa...... doesn't need that due to its cloning technology.
so, not only does reiju's name have 零 rei 'zero' in it, so she literally Doesn't Count! not only is she not first in line for the throne, because judge has three other sons! but the only position she would normally be allowed to occupy(?) in society is useless, bordering on non-existent. like her only option is to keep doing what she's doing as a mercenary/soldier. at any point, judge could decide he needs her as a political pawn, or even worse: another source for genetic experiments (or both! at once!) and she Cannot Say No

Anyway while some could argue sending Merrill away from the clan was at the base of it understandable in that the mirror was known to be tainted when it came into Merrill's possession, over the acts of the game it becomes clear that wasn't the main reason she was sent away as Marethari continuously tries to exert control over Merrill and her choices
what with giving the Arulin'Holm to Hawke despite the fact that Merrill was the one to invoke the right of vir sulevanan, and Hawke isn't even Dalish and so vir sulevanan, the right any dalish has to have access to their artifacts, doesn't apply to them, to keeping the clan in Sundermount despite the danger it possessed to all of them until they 'get what they're waiting for' which is clearly at that point just for Merrill to change her mind, to every conversation the two have Marethari is talking down to her and trying to get her to return to the clan despite turning the whole clan against her to the point Pol runs away from her to his death, to the entire deal with Audacity
it's clear through the story in it's entirety that Marethari didn't send Merrill away under the sole concern of the taint still being in the mirror, and it definitely wasn't about the mirror by the end. that's why i consider Merrill one of the braver companions you can have, bc unless the player actively contributes to the emotional abuse themself, Merrill stands by on her decision and says 'no, this is important to me. it's dangerous but it's my choice to study it, and no one else gets a say in that.'
it's just an important story to me. i wish more people saw it that way, and that the narrative around it was kinder to her about it

like for real winston either being more so overall punished or At Least unrewarded compared to effectively all other characters, not b/c he didn't have value, not b/c he wasn't loyal to taylor, not b/c of anything else he did or didn't do over the course of the series....truly just the sole factor of His Autistacity that determined this fate. wild

i like to think apoptosis tries to lie to tenshi but tenshi cares too much & has figured her out pretty well & can see through most of it. i dont have much to support this beyond the fact theyre clearly heavily tied together across their songs.
