"Happy birthday, Sherlock," she said as she set the small cake down in front of him. It wasn't big and it certainly wasn't fancy, but she was still proud of it.
Sherlock was surprised.
He didn't expect to receive something that morning as he clearly forgot it. It being the day of his birth. He was simply told by Mrs. Hudson to visit Anne and so he did.
Then he was welcomed with this. A small cake that was obviously baked by her. Definitely fresh from the oven.
"Oh." Sherlock was at a loss for words. Clearly unexpected. A smile forms his lips. In the past, the old Sherlock would have deduced it completely and have mentioned something that must have hurt his neighbor. But now, all he could do was smile. Appreciative of such gesture.
"It must have been from Mrs. Hudson that you found out." He said out of nowhere. "Thank you. It definitely looks delicious." It was definitely a genuine response.
