actually, here's your post about the sherberts' voices for a second. Because, with the exception of krit who's voice is pitched higher, *they all have the same voice* - it's the same the whole way through. But you can tell the difference between them. I know at the beginning of the one-shot stream I made I post about how there are subtle different between cc!sherbs voice and irl!sherbs voice - and it's not about pitch or anything, it's all about tone and mannerism and delivery. Irl!sherb has a different tone and a different way of speaking to any of the other sherbs, and so does Icarus and Ash - and like, yeah I can look at Icarus and Ash and tell you they have similar ways of speaking, but they aren't the same. Ajax speaks oh so differently to Icarus, or to Cedar, or to Reo. The subtlest differences can change the character and who is speaking, and I think Sherbert's ability to do that is *fucking amazing* - the small differences add up, and I think that being able to portray that is really really cool. I really think, going back to the post that spawned this one, that the small difference between cc!sherb and irl!sherb are really interesting - there's such a small difference but it absolutely makes or breaks what is to be taken as lore, and what isn't, and just like. Sherbert your ability to convey that just through small differences in the way you're talking is so fucking cool to me

Sherb has said that Icarus can't wear the goggles cause it would just full with blood... but couldn't they just drill little holes in the bottom? Like a little drain for the blood. It'd probs be a little messier but eye protection!
Speaking of eye things...
Rae put an eye of ender in a spyglass to see Auras before he put it in his face, could you do the same with other glass things? Like a little magnify glass, but for Auras. Or like a thing that Coraline uses to find the ghost eyes
And could Icarus put a little one in one those tiny ones that attach to the goggles?

My dear friends and mutuals I read the first chapter of Berthold Auerbach's book Poet and Merchant: a Picture of Life from the Times of Moses Mendelssohn and I am afraid that I am going to have to blog the whole book.
Originally published in 1839 as Dichter und Kaufman: ein Lebengemälde aus der Zeit Moses Mendelssohns, the book is available in English translation at HATHI Trust and in German on Google Books in its first and second volumes. I'll be reading the English edition, partly for ease of website access & partly because of lines like these:
Knobloch mentions the book in Herr Moses in Berlin, almost a century and a half later, in conjunction with the titular character Ephraim Moses Kuh. The book promises to be a fictionalised account of Kuh's life as he relocates from Breslau to the big city "in the time of Moses Mendelssohn & a portrayal of (Auerbach's conception of) Jewish life in German-speaking places during this period. It's one of several historical novels by Auerbach, who was a big fan of Spinoza and had previously made him the subject of a biography.
But while in life Auerbach seems to have been quite vocally opposed to Antisemitism—he came from a poor Jewish family himself before being seduced by Spinoza—the first chapter has not been promising in its attempts to portray the "local color" which characterizes the genre.
I'll be tagging posts about Dichter und Kaufmann as #Auerbücher. I anticipate that the book will potray (at least) some in-story Antisemitism & Weird attitudes towards women, and while I'd like to be surprised to the contrary I expect these are things that not everyone wants on their dashes. My fervent wish is that this experiment records a 19th-century authors Historical RPF & maybe provides some material for my eventual undergraduate thesis.
In the meantime, I'm gonna be real Not Normal about reaching back into the past and trying to hold hands. Please ignore and/or forgive me as you see fit.

🎶🌞👀🤲 for the ask game?
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
Of course! Music is my imagination's lifeblood. I tend to listen to emotive scores from movies and video games, but once in a while I'll find a song with lyrics that really speak to me. It's usually the songs that speak of finding somewhere to belong, or that things can change with enough belief.
At the moment, I've got 'There's a Place for Us' by BYU Noteworthy (originally by Carrie Underwood) on loop for inspiration.
🌞 Do you have a preferred time of day to write?
Last thing at night or very first thing in the morning while the world (and my head) is quiet. Once there's too much stimulation in front of me, be it sound or distraction, I can't keep my thoughts together enough to concentrate, so I do my best work in moments of peace.
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
Oh no. Not my mountain of WIPs 😂 I've been writing a self-indulgent piece recently to wind down after work, where nothing much really happens.
It's actually an Animal Crossing/My Hero Academia crossover, but it's an iyashikei fic (there's no English word equivalent, but it's a genre of writing in japan known as a slice of life story with healing properties for its calm and tranquil atmosphere).
Basically reader lives on an island with my 2 favourite villagers, Goldie & Sherb, plus Ojiro, and it's all about them growing the island into a beautiful place to live for Tom Nook. 0 drama. 0 tension or angst. Lots of peaceful fun.
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
I've picked a different WIP from the last question so there's some variety. This is actually a snippet from my introductory fic for Mimi Mahoro, the shy horror queen:
“Attention, everyone. We have a new student joining us today.”
Aizawa’s voice rippled out over the general hum of Class 1-A at the beginning of morning homeroom.
As class transfers were rare and school transfers were almost unheard-of, the announcement shut everyone up at once. Gossiping ceased and even idle notebook-doodling halted.
Holding his students’ undivided attention, Aizawa raised an arm towards the door to welcome someone inside. The class remained still, their curiosities gluing them to their seats with their lips sealed shut.
“This is Miss Mahoro. Transferring mid-semester can be daunting, so please make her feel welcome and included.”
The door opened. Excitement built. Midoriya pulled out his notepad to take notes, and everyone sat up straighter in anticipation.
But no one came in. The collective excitement quickly slipped to confusion. Aizawa cleared his throat then gestured to the door again as if to urge the person inside.
Finally, after what seemed like a very long pause, a girl shuffled into the room. She kept her head low, clinging to the back wall like her life depended on it. But despite the clear bout of nerves, she made it all the way to Aizawa’s desk then held onto it like a lifeline, lifting her head to finally meet the class’s collective gaze.
“I’m M—M-Mimi Mahoro. L-looking forward to working with- with you.”
Her voice was so incredibly quiet and jittery that it barely reached past the first row of desks.
In comparison to many of her new classmates, Mahoro didn’t leave much of an impression. Perhaps her only discerning feature was her long, brown hair, as there was enough of it to style into thick pigtails with ample extra billowing freely down her back and shoulders. Heavy bangs hid the left side of her face, and her pale, almost sickly skin suggested that she had been a NEET until very recently.
It was customary to offer up information about oneself during an introduction, but as Mahoro seemed to have used up all her inner strength just to say her name, Aizawa stepped in on her behalf. Those in the front row could see she was shaking like a leaf.
“Thank you, Miss Mahoro. If you would like to take your seat, you’ll be just behind Mister Midoriya.”
Dutifully, Midoriya raised his hand to show her where to sit.
Mahoro nodded, looking a little less panicky after being relieved of her public speaking duty. She bowed to the class then kept her head low as she weaved between the desks, making a beeline for her chair. Once she was seated, she immediately looked out the window to prevent any accidental eye-locking.
Her classmates did indeed turn to look at her, but Aizawa cleared his throat to garner their attention.
“Furthermore, I have news regarding your midterms."
A collective groan rose up amongst the students. With the prospect of getting to know their new classmate, the last thing they wanted to do instead was think about their impending failure on the upcoming exams.
“Groan all you want. You might be ahead in terms of practical work, but your scores on the mock written tests tell me there’s still a lot to do. We’ll be shifting class-time to focus on theory over practical, and I sorely suggest you find study groups during free periods. Some of you will benefit from them more than others.”
He did not try to hide the way his gaze fell on Kirishima, Kaminari and Ashido. The latter chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of her pink head.
“Roger dodger, sir.”
As Aizawa returned his attention to the rest of the class, Ashido’s shoulders sagged. Kaminari leaned over to pat her consolingly on the back, as he was equally deflated for knowing he was part of the Bad Scores Brigade again.
“Yaomomo might tutor us, if we ask nicely?”
“Let’s buy her chocolates as a bribe.”

From books and such we are led to think Enderian and Netherum killed Alerion and Fable retaliated with the war. At the beginning Len was on his side which we know bc Fable used "an army of the undead" to attack them. But, Len switched sides part way through the war. During the war Fable killed many of the Minor gods and Netherum (according to Galahad) causing the war to end.
But so many things don't add up. Netherum is repeatedly described as being good and kind despite being the god of destruction, part of their soul is in Athena as their vessel and Athena is the nicest sweetest person even despite all they have gone through. It doesn't make sense for Neth to have killed Alerion. Not unless A) Alerion was just a real shitty person, B) Enderian maybe forced them too, or C) It's a fabrication.
We don't know much about Alerion, but, with how much of a dick Fable is described as, we can assume Alerion wasn't worse or we'd have heard someone say so. Which makes me rule out option A. Option B is ruled out bc why would Enderian control Netherum when she so obviously cares for them? And never even attempted to control Athena. Which leaves C.
Fable was probably the one who killed Alerion, more than likely for their powers. Which is backed up in SONTARIV, a book written the the aether language luce speaks. Why would it be in aether is it wasn't written by someone there? Fable killed Alerion for their power, but I think Alerion sent those powers to either Netherum or Enderian. Personally I think it was Neth bc Enderian feels like the more…ruthless? Not ruthless but at least more aggressive (if season one is to go off of), of the two and would probably have just immediately put Fable away in Purgatorial instead of waiting for Neth to fall. (Unless Neth wanted to wait to see if they could reason with/will against Fable. She seems like she cared a lot about Neth and would probably listen to their wants.)
Regardless I think Netherum knew or at least feared they were going to fall which is why they made Athena as their vessel, so that they could come back. But why haven't they yet? How does being a Vessel work? What happens to Athena? And now with Rae too for Enderian? Is it different bc of how the two were made into vessels? Would Sherb be able to be used as one for Fable? They honestly all seem to actually really care for their kids. Genuinely. If its a one for one replace sort of deal i cant imagine how upsetting that might be, potentially it could be used as a last resort type deal or maybe the vessel needs to get to a certain point. Enderian and Rae seem to give us the most information with regards to how it functions. The two of them being connected and Rae gaining her memories.
What if its less of the God replaces the Vessel and more the Vessel replaces the God. The vessel gains the memories and powers (Enderian doesn't have alerions space powers and rae theorizes he has them.) Because we know the felled gods don't have their memories OR powers. Maybe that's what makes them gods. We know mortals can become gods, its not to far a stretch that the vessel becomes a god.
After being felled I think Neth gave their powers to Enderian and she locked Fable away in Purgatory. (Probably in the bedrock orb thing on the ceiling. Which tbh looks a lot like the glass light on the ceiling of town hall.) And Raza was probably put as a guard or as a librarian since all the libraries seem to either originate or be connected to Purgatory.
Because if the two of them killed Alerion why wouldn't they also kill Fable. If Enderian wanted Alerion's power for herself like the narrative suggests than why wouldn't she take Fables too. Why would she lock him away. Fable seemed to be more bloodthirsty. In Enderians words "Just like always, quick to draw the sword". (I think, despite everything, she doesn't want another one of her siblings to die. Even if she has a grudge on the overworlders. But i feel like that's more of a front. Orchid was an overworlder, and Enderian seems to trust Centross despite him being an overworlder.) I think she wants to get to the overworld so that she can rule it, she cant trust fable and she's the only other remaining major god. Her own realm is in ruin and is getting worse. Getting to the overworld would get her access to the nether and potentially in touch with more gods.
Why is her realm so much more damages than the others? Despite all the things we know about gods suggesting it shouldn't be. It (presumably) has the most amount of unfelled gods and Enderian herself, suggesting that it should be the only realm that is actually put together but obviously its the least of the remaining 3.
(Ocie said at some point close to the beginning of season 2 that her and momboo existing was maybe some kind of substitute to the overworld not having any of its gods, which suggests that to be stable and like, actually stick around the realms need some sort of god or god-like being (i would assume that isn't felled). The nether still has Len and seems to be doing pretty well And soul isn't technically felled either. The nether still has civilization (a lot, if the wiki page on Upper Management is anything to go off of) and is still more or less in one piece. It for sure is more overgrown and people are scattered and there are a lot of ruins but that seems to be more a product of war than the loss/lack of gods. We can assume the Aether is just gone, nothing suggests its around anymore and with how dim blue auras are its safe to say there probably isn't much if any left.)
I know Fable scattered the end islands but it is still so badly in ruin, it doesn't seem like it has much civilization in it and what remains is spread out. Maybe shes been working herself so thin, trying to keep her realm together and also keeping purgatory standing, ocie suggested that Ominous Bane has existed in previous resets. Do the gods remember the resets? Enderian i believe theorized that the resets were happening. Does controlling overworlders use up her power and make her weaker? Ocie and Momboo remembering the resets suggests that the gods should too.
Parix betraying her probably didn't help with the stability of her realm and neither did Fable stabbing her in purgatory. The main End island was even more messed up when Centross went in than it had been last season.
She's been looking for a vessel this whole time, trying to get to the overworld probably to save her own realm. Probably to save the others too. And now she has Rae, who as her kid is probably the perfect vessel. I just sort of wish she had known sooner and maybe Rae wouldn't hate her so much and would maybe want to help.
Its all so he said she said right now but I'm pretty sure Fables goal had been to become more powerful and rewrite himself as a hero, a mortal turned god trying to avenge the aether.
im probably really off base and this doesn't even touch on some of my other theories I have with the resets and Luce potentially being alerion and everything but I have already written so damn much so im going to go now. wiggles away
