Guys.....I've been missing my furbies. It was an incredible experience raising them and giving them an opportunity of life and finding them forever homes. This made me look into becoming an actual foster at a shelter. My experience introduced me to programs I didn't know about. I signed up, applied and I am officially a foster parent at my local shelter. On Thursday I took in this little guy. He has an URI and an injury on the inside bottom gums. I'm giving him meds twice a day and eye ointment as well. He was so mellow when he was brought home. Gave him a good bath and got him settled in. He's a little shy but understandable. The first two pictures are his before and the one of him resting is after his bath and food. I'm suppose to care for him for 3 weeks. This is my favorite photo of Benny & Gracie. She was so disgusted by his huge slobbery tongue, and he enjoyed every moment of torturing her! 😹 Still no sign at all of Gracie anywhere. There was a very similar cat that had been brought into the shelter yesterday but was no match. It's absolutely disgusting/absurd that out of 3 full cat rooms, they only have less than 12 stray cats listed on their website! It's the easiest way to reunite cat and owner. Wtf. Their special cat room where they can run loose has only 4 cats in it. Empty cages at Petco once again. No more kitty yoga with the public, it was replaced by puppy yoga. Adoption specials apply to dogs only, even though they have very few dogs. How can you treat cats in such an appalling way? Humane Society of the Black Hills needs a serious reorganization. North Central animal shelter is still closed to volunteers and the public. Believe it or not we still have dogs that we worked with and loved in different shelters. We were all elated to hear the news today that our sweet Mattie girl. Had gotten out. This is her freedom ride. We’re all hoping North Central opens back up in September. And it we can go back to volunteering soon. Well, we definitely broke the ice. I have won him over little by little. He's looking more and more like a kitten. He's doing well with his meds, his bottom mouth injury is healing, eats well, no issues with the litter box, purrs now and he has begun playing. He has let his guard down and is welcoming all the snuggles. When I was spending time cuddling him trying to win him over, I would watch shows and he never paid any attention to them until I started to watch "Too Cute", an animal show and he simply loved it. He follows the screen and is focused on the kittens and puppies constantly being shown. When he hears them meow or bark he reacts and is responsive to it. It is adorable. Something about the show is soothing to him. I was told I could name him, but haven't yet. Waiting to see more of his personality. Jax! Our 2 yr old that was saved from euthanasia. As you can see, he is the sweetest, most loving playful pup. He loves to play fetch, loves squeaky toys and loves to sleep under the blankets with you. He is fine with dogs and we are pretty confident he is cool with cats.
