I got into it in the notes of a moonfall echo post and now I’m going insane about what Shakespeare Characters each DMBJ person vibes the most with who do I blame for this

WU XIE as VIOLA from Twelfth Night

okay bear with me, I know this is a strong one coming right out the gate. But the GAY ENERGY. the ATTEMPTING TO BE SOMEONE THEY’RE NOT ALL THE TIME. the sheer amount of LOVE INSIDE. also this bitch spends SO much time in the series dressed up as other people like??? mans loves cosplaying except the cosplay is for Life and Death Situations. also the love triangles are hilarious. plus they’re both cute and gay and i love them

ZHANG QILING as CORIOLANUS from Coriolanus

did i choose these two because they’re arguably the hottest characters in each of their canon? maybe. also Cori Boy is the only one violent enough to even come CLOSE to xiao-ge’s deadly energy. I could have done Hamlet, who is the only other real Shakespearian swordsman, but Hamlet talks too much. also something about the desperation and side-switching that appeals to me. OH THEY BOTH HAVE GOOD TITS yeah that’s a good reason too

WANG PANGZI as THE FOOL from King Lear

okay before any of you come for me in the notes, the Fool is arguably the greatest Shakespearean character. They’re only CALLED the Fool cause it’s their job, but actually they’re the only one with any braincells in the play. Both start out as the archetypal comic relief character and then become the heart and soul of the story. The Fool makes a bunch of jokes and also prophesies the end and possibly is magic?? who’s to say. But anyway Pangzi also does all of those things and I feel like he should get to wear a funny hat. plus the Fool just has to deal with idiots trying to take his job by being clowns for free, and Pangzi can relate to that energy I think

LIU SANG as ARIEL from The Tempest

If it weren’t for just the SHEER amount of creepy magical energy they both exude, it’s the loyalty and sacrifice that does it for me. Not only are they both Ethereal Beings, there’s also a lot of sound ties to Ariel in The Tempest, so like it checks out. Plus they both Crouch. Also I just want Liu Sang to be able to smite some bitches sometimes. That would be good for him (it’s NOT because they’re both my favorite characters IT’S NOT)

Bai Haotian as Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream

So this is not only because i have a thing for casting women as Puck, but also because they fit so well together!! like. they both have crushes on people they perceive to be in authority! they both like being helpful! they both should get to be a little feral and also do magic! like Xiao Bai would be SUCH a cute Puck and if Wu Xie weren’t such a dumbass he’d make a good Oberon but alas. He is a Dumbass. so Xiao Bai is Puck but Wu Xie doesn’t get to be in Midsummer because he is simultaneously Too Dumb and Not Dumb Enough.

LI CU as PRINCE HAL from Henry IV Part I

sorry for more Tom Hiddleston pics but he’s genuinely like the best Shakespearian actor I’ve ever seen, and he’s done it all. Anyway Li Cu is Hal but specifically Hal from Part I because Part II isn’t as good and Hal is basically Dead when we get to Henry V so it has to be Part I. Anyway. Troubled youth who doesn’t want to do what his father wants so he basically gets kidnapped and raised by an older man who is full of Trickery and also Witty Remarks? The Best Friends Trios? The evolution into a Hero in Their Own Right? These guys are perfect for each other. Also I go feral about both of them at any given moment

A-NING as LADY MACBETH from Macbeth

YES I used A-Ning from Time Raiders because I think she’s the hottest version of A-Ning WHAT ABOUT IT. Anyway A-Ning could be no one other than the scheming girlboss Lady Macbeth. They’re both Morally Ambiguous but Fuck they look so good doing it. Can And Will manipulate literally any man into doing what they want. Su Nan was also a contender for Lady Macbeth because she resonates very strongly with the “Out, damned spot!” monologue, but she respects authority too much. A-Ning would not hesitate to kill the bitchass king of Scotland so that her family could ascend to the throne and I love that for her

ZHANG DADDY RISHAN as HAMLET from Hamlet

OKAY BEFORE ANYONE SAYS “brigid i know u chose them because ur a simp for zhang daddy rishan and ur a simp for hamlet stop being so predictable” LITERALLY NO ONE ELSE COULD DO IT THO??? LIKE??? ok they both are setting their life purpose on the bedrock of an older mentor figure’s death... they both have to deal with conspirators trying to usurp them... both the Ultimate Tragic Hero and Make Me Cry Every Damn Day... both are torn away from their nerd boyfriends by death... they both live in my head rent free... I know Zhang Daddy Rishan does not talk as much as Hammie Boy but I 100% think that there’s a CONSTANT monologue going on in his head at all times. Also the Am I A Coward speech? That’s our Daddy Rishan to the MAX. No one look at me or im gonna start making picsets of him with Hamlet quotes superimposed over it I swear to GOD

Not only does this picture from the NTL production of Othello represent what I want to do to Sanshu every time I see him onscreen, but these bitches are two of The Fakest Hos I have ever come across. It’s a love-hate relationship with them most of the time; you hate them for what they’re doing to the heroes, but they’re so good at the Trickery that you can’t help but admire them for it a little bit. They can, have, and will sell their family members for a single Lick of Power and Wealth. And yeah, you could MAKE an argument for them to be Good or at the very least Morally Ambiguous but they’re both giant dicks and deep down in our hearts we all know it.

howdy folks !! so my name is HYLIA , and I’m here to play the sailor datemate of my dreams , LUKE ANDERSEN. I’m still sort of getting the hang of them since they’re a very new character , so I’m sorry if this intro is all over the place !! No TWS for now save for mentions of death , the ocean , and drowning. Hopefully this isn’t too messy !

HISTORY

So Luke is adopted - the child of one of King triton’s servants who passed away from illness. Originally , Triton was going to take them in himself , but instead , Ariel volunteered to care for the little merbaby and raised them as her own. As a result , Triton gave Luke the ability to grow legs on dry land as well as a tail when touched by large amounts of saltwater.

But , they weren’t told of their true heritage as a child. So they believed they were a human for the longest time.

They grew up loving both of their parents to the max but it was DEFINITELY evident they took after Eric more so. They wanted to travel , wanted to explore - and their dad , with his ship and naval prowess , was their hero. So from a very young age , they would accompany their dad on his travels.

It went to the point in which they were taught to pilot a ship themselves - and they even asked for one for their sixteenth birthday. Nothing else , just a vessel of their own. And they got one , naming it The Queen Jocasta.

First voyage on The Queen Jocasta resulted in an attack by pirates - sixteen year-old Luke tossed off the side of the ship , thinking they were about to drown. But , that power they were unaware of for all this time shifted their legs into a tail , and at that point they realized , Wow , Mom and Dad really haven’t told me SHIT.

So that was when they were explained that yeah , they were originally born a mermaid , and yeah , they were royalty both on the surface and under the sea. And that prompted Luke to spend a year in the ocean to get to know their mother’s family - returning to the surface to finish their time in Auradon Prep afterwards. This meant they graduated a year later at nineteen.

And then when that was over , Luke decided ‘ hey, I’m gonna take a trip all around Auradon by BOAT ’ since... that’s their brand , and spent another year just sailing around the different parts of Auradon ( and on the outside of it ) for the fun of it. They’re only just now getting back to Auradon to attend Auroria.

PERSONALITY & FACTS

So one may describe Luke as an ‘old soul’ - they’re very laid back and relaxed , for the most part , keen on their interests and someone who really seems to know a lot beyond how old they are.

Extremely intelligent - there’s a rumor going around that Luke has an eidetic memory , but they won’t confirm or deny it. ( It’s true. )

OBVIOUSLY AGAIN, OCEAN CHILD. Luke loves the ocean and always hangs out on beaches or the docks if they’re not on their actual boat. Because Luke doesn’t have a dorm - no , Luke sleeps on The Queen Jocasta in their cabin. Captain’s quarters and all that.

They love traveling just for the sake of traveling , and they can read a map like it’s nobody’s business.

Big into the classics like art and music DESPITE the fact they can’t paint , draw - but they can carry a tune well and for that reason , they play guitar nicely.

Honestly they’re smart and into the classics and shit but also this can come off as slightly pretentious since they don’t hesitate to remind people how good of a thinker they are - they don’t say it , but they show it.

Also they know how to dance , taking ballet classes when they were younger !! It’s just not something they remind anyone of much.

One more class they took was swordfighting in attempts to learn how to defend themselves . . . and yes , they’re great at it. Scary great.

In terms of a more direct description of their PERSONALITY , Luke tends to approach situations with again , a very laid back attitude but also one that’s brutally honest. They will let you know if they’re pissed off with you and . . . do have a bit of a temper when their nerves are ticked. Luke’s also got a bit of a dangerous tendency to always think they’re on their own and look after number one ( themselves ) and forgets that they can lean on other people for help. This doesn’t mean they don’t care about their allies - no , they greatly care about them. But Luke’s sort of used to being a mysterious , aloof , brooding traveler that they often forget they now have people they can confide in.

They’ll do things that perk their interest - Luke really isn’t going to go out of their way for something unless there’s either something in it for them or they have a personal interest. Also , if they care for the person , but yeah.

There’s a slight cynical streak to them for no other reason than the fact they just always think they have to watch their back - and for the fact people have secrets , like their parents keeping the secret they were a mermaid for a good portion of their life.

I promise they’re not a conceited selfish prick Luke is just VERY . . . aloof. I know I said that before but they’re distant and sort of keep to themselves and what they want.

Their opinion on the villains and heroes coming together is that they really . . . couldn’t care less. They never were really one to focus too much on the Auradon vs. Isle debacle anyway , but also - they can understand why some VKs are pissed. BUT , since this is Luke we’re talking about - that doesn’t mean they’re going to be exceptionally nice to the villain kids , treating them the same as Auradonian kids - casually , trying to get a read on them , probably the same aloof & ‘I could care less’ demeanor they normally keep up.

Also I should mention !! Luke is genderfluid , preferring they/them pronouns like stated before - but when addressing them with their royal title , they prefer to be addressed by the title of Prince. But Captain is even more so preferred.

WANTED PLOTS & CONNECTIONS

OKAY SO. When the main puts up their WC page I will be submitting this one but I’d love an ARRANGED MARRIAGE plot for Luke. Basically , arranged while Luke was away traveling - they could either already know this person or are just meeting them now , but they’re not too keen on the idea of arranged marriage but aren’t really doing anything to fight it since it is what it is. They can either get along or hate each other , be best buddies or the like , but I think it’d be so funny if Luke - a wayward soul - was supposed to be arranged to marry someone who always has to make sure they’re not getting into trouble or something since Luke . . . CANNOT stay in the same place. At all. Bonus if this person is super duper sweet and polite in contrast to Luke’s nature of being absolutely crass & unrefined.

And if this evolves in2 an actual ship that’d b up to chemistry n shit but the main idea I had was just. An arranged marriage. Rly we can do whatever n I’d b cool w/ it.

I’d love a crew for them pls. Again - this can be with both Auradon and Isle kids , since Luke gives no shits , but I’d imagine there’s a few Auradon kids who’ve been with Luke for quite some time.

i never thought about joe teaching patrick just basic human things like maybe eventually driving and doing chores around the apartment (which lead to a /lot/ of mishaps at first they don’t talk about it) and /no patrick you use a fork to eat not to comb your hair stop./

ive been working out the canon involving mer rights (because i mean. are we really gonna let some fish have human rights? cmon now) and like. i dont think theyd even be allowed to legally drive. i mean, patricks probably fairly smart for a mermaid, and im imagining that the boys spend /years/ getting him fully literate, hell, he learned most of the early lyrics phonetically and really didnt even know the words until he sat down and actually listened to tttyg years later.this is why joe is technically patricks caregiver, not just his boyfriend. aside from a rightful fear of sharp objects like, say, the needles on the sringes patrick needs in order to have legs, patrick doesnt understand money, he can only read at, say, a 3rd grade level at most, math and science as a whole just confuse him (even as andy tries to tutor him through it, to catch him up), the list goes on and on. yeah, chores were difficult at first, but how about pete n joe talking to others in the punk/hardcore scene and patrick only being able to understand what theyre saying through tone and the occasional phrase?? hell, he was proud of himself for a full week after he managed to start reading on his own. and it was probably very low level stuff, too, like fuckin rainbow magic. hed be allllll about those fairies god damn u guys remember those books?? lmaothe point, though, is that patrick absolutely relies on joe (and to a lesser extent, pete n andy) for living on land at alloh, and if were concerned with the little mermaid references, patrick has a love hate relationship with that move. like, on one hand, thats not how magic works (that he knows of), thats not how mermaids look or behave, etc etc but also like. the funny bits about ariel not getting human life are completely lost on him because like. he totally understood where she was coming from. he also collected a lot of human objects (although it was more like lighters or beach towels for him than anything). he gets ariels character past the point that even the writers probably did.

But I’ll also rec another fic where Harry is Cupid (the love god that shoots arrows at ppl’s asses and makes them fall in love lol) and it’s a very good read! And about wattpad, please follow my account pattycake18 and Jen’s account _SweetDisposition_ and add our fic to your library link here! We have lists of the fics that we have read so you can look through those. In the meantime I’ll rec a few of my favorites. Notes: finally! I know it had taken me ages so I really want to thank you for your patience! This one is shorter than usual but just because I really wanted to update now that I found some time haha hope you like it!

Everything in your head was confused. You knew what had happened but your brain was incapable of understanding any of it. Hook had betrayed you in the worst possible way, he had flirted with you, he had made his way into you while he was planning on getting you killed. By Zelena. You didn’t even know who she was. You had heard of Oz, of course, but that was all. You didn’t know why she wanted you or why you were important for her plans.

And then…Rumpelstiltskin. He had kidnapped you but he had made you no harm. Besides the fact that he was going to hand you over to the Wicked Witch for your murder. You should have stayed at your tavern with your family.

“Where are we?” You asked when you and the Dark One appeared in a forest. “Enchanted Forest?”

“Oh no, dearie, we are far away from the Enchanted Forest. This is Oz”, he replied.

Then you looked around the strange place. Everything was dark but when you looked down you saw a yellow path and frowned. This sounded familiar. Suddenly, something like a flashback flashed in your head: it was you, when you were little running down a path similar to the one you were now on.

“Interesting…” Rumpelstiltskin mumbled looking at you.

“What do you mean?” You asked.

“I see now why the Wicked Witch is so interested in you”, he smirked. “You have it”, he added.

“What? I have…nothing”, you frowned making him laugh.

“Still so innocent. Do you really believe Zelena would need you if you had nothing?” He asked before he started walking.

You stared at his back for a while thinking about his words. What did you have? You were just a normal girl and that image was just a hallucination or an old dream. It meant absolutely nothing. Still, you had the strange feeling that you had been in that place before. Everything was somehow familiar but still unknown. With a gulp you looked around, trying to find a route to escape but you probably wouldn’t get too far before the imp got you again. With a sigh, you realised your only option was following him, confronting that Zelena and try to stay alive out of this one.

Slowly, you started walking down the yellow path, trying not to think about the pirate, about the man who had betrayed you. How could you have been so stupid to kiss him? Or to develop any kind of feelings towards him?

“Let it go, dearie”, the Dark One’s voice took you out of your thoughts. “Love is a weakness, forget about him”

Could he read your damn mind? Or was it too obvious that you were thinking about Hook? You decided not to say anything and just keep on walking, following him, as you considered your captor’s words. Love was a weakness… Love… You didn’t love Hook. You had to hate him but for some reason you couldn’t do it.

Hook was devastated. He couldn’t believe what he had done, what his plans was and how he had been willing to accomplish it. You were such a good girl, so passionate, funny and strong. And he still was going to betray you. Or he was going to do it until he kissed you. It didn’t matter how drunk he was, the moment he kissed you, he knew he couldn’t do it. He would keep the secret from you and would find a way to help you kill the Evil Queen. Of course he never expected any of what happened.

Any chance he ever had with you was sent to the deepest hell the moment you found out the truth thanks to the Crocodile. Once again, Hook had lost love because of that creature which had increased his blood lust for him. This time there was no way Rumpelstiltskin made it out alive. Hook was going to kill him, he was convinced. More than ever before.

But in order to do that, he had to get to Oz and the only way to do such thing was through a portal. He needed magic and also knew someone who owed him a favour. It was time to call the mermaid.

“Smith!” He called out as he came out to the deck. Everyone looked surprised to see him since he didn’t spend much time up there lately. “We need the mermaid”, he informed the little man.

“The…the mermaid, Captain? Why is that?” He asked. His nervousness made Hook roll his eyes.

“She owes me a favour and I need a magic bean. We are going to Oz”, he said simply. “So where is that stupid magical conch?” He asked.

“Oh, I have very well guarded, Captain”, Smith smile proudly.

“Ok, now give it to me. It’s an order”, Killian said.

Smith nodded and hurried to where the crew had their cabins. They were on the other side of the ship so it took him some minutes to come back with the item on his hands.

“Here you have, Captain”, Smith said giving it to Hook who took it and walked to the edge of the ship, followed by the sailor. “Are you sure this is a good idea? She wasn’t too pleased last time we saw her”, he added.

“She owes me a favour so she better be pleased to see me”, Hook said.

Hook took a deep breath and blew into the conch, reproducing a melody that he knew would make the mermaid come to him. Once he was done, he looked down at the sea, waiting to see the shape of the mermaid which soon appeared from under the ship. Soon, a red-haired head came out of the water.

“What do you want to now Hook?” Ariel asked.

“Remember when I saved your life and you told me you owed me one?” He asked, going straight to the point. The red-haired nodded slowly. “Now I need a favour. I need a bean”, he said.

“But…a bean? I don’t know where I can find one”, she mumbled.

“Stop lying now or I swear I will call Ursula instead”, Hook threatened. Ariel sighed.

“I know my father has one left but I can’t just steal it!” She exclaimed.

“I don’t give a damn about your daddy issues. Get me that bean. Period”, he demanded.

Ariel knew she had no choice. It wasn’t the first time Hook asked for something from her and she knew how stubborn he was and how far he was willing to go in order to get what he wanted. So she nodded and went back underwater.

Hook kept on looking at the water for a few moments before turning to Smith. He returned the conch and walked back to the stairs that would take him down to his cabin.

“Tell me when she’s back Smith!” He exclaimed before disappearing under the deck.

He was going to get you back and you were going to forgive him. It didn’t matter what it costed him.
