starter call | @ninjassin encounters chiyo!
Tumblr media
" so... that was my grandma. " she's a lil awkward in her delivery, gaze bouncing from timmy's expression to the sidewalk and back. " won't lie, i was more nervous for you to meet her than my parents. she's great, obviously, but she's more... well, she can put you on the spot. " even if the old woman waits till they're alone, even if it's in private, chiyo's well-acquainted with her grandmother's talks. she's the type of person to ask a question and expect an honest answer -- whether she has to wrestle it out of you or not.

her fingers curl around timmy's hand, and chiyo chances another glance at his face. " that wasn't too much, was it? "

ALYSM
CHAPTER TWO - of devotion and affection
MEGUMI left her to join the others on the field shortly after their conversation ended. As she sat on the steps, different people came and sat by her, taking a short break from training to enjoy her company.
Toge was the first to sit down next to her after Megumi got up.
“Konbu,” Was Toge’s greeting, as it always was. She smiled softly at him, turning to face him as he sat down. Chiyo always gave Toge her full, undivided attention. It was hard for her not to. Ever since they met when they were first-years, she thought he was so pretty. In her mind, pretty wasn’t even adequate for him. He was ethereal, an angel descended from the heavens. The thought always left a bittersweet taste in her mouth that was more sweet than bitter—coffee with lots of sugar.
Chiyo scooched closer to him, reaching out to zip down his collar. Her smile grew; Chiyo always seemed slightly lovesick whenever she saw Toge’s whole face. Nobody could really tell, except for perhaps her brother, but she felt it inside her. The faint feeling of nausea mixed with weightlessness, completed by the urge for a smile, large and beaming, to take over her face.
She never expressed that urge though, her smile never growing far beyond her usual small smiles she sent her other classmates. Chiyo thought that she did a good job hiding her feelings about anything, especially how she felt towards Toge, but her classmates could tell how she felt. She always behaved differently around Toge, she was softer and more prone to listening to reason when it came to her health. She was fiercely protective of him in a way she wasn’t with the others. Chiyo cared for her classmates and underclassmen dearly, the ones who spent time with her knew that well.
Chiyo would die for those close to her, but she would live for Toge.
She wouldn’t hesitate to bleed until she had nothing left for the others, but she would survive for him. For him, she would relive the first awful fifteen years of her life before she met him. For him, she would fight the king of curses and win for the sole purpose of going home to him. For him, she would carve her heart out of her chest and give it to him, living only for him.
She wondered if her undying devotion showed in her eyes when she looked at him. He smiled at her, unyielding and happy and bright. Her eyes lit up the slightest bit when she saw him pull out a small notepad and red pen from his pocket. He had different pens for each person he spent time with, and he always used red for her, ever since she got him the notebook and pack of pens for his birthday last year.
‘How did your mission go?’
She tried to hide the annoyance on her face, but it was obvious enough that he laughed. Her heart felt lighter at the sound, and her entire mission felt worth it just for that laugh. “It went on for way too long,” she sighed, always hating these check-ups that she was sent to do. “It took me forever to find the cursed object because the campus was so damn big and the curse was so weak.”
Toge hummed in sympathy. Chiyo always complained after these types of assignments, especially because it seemed she was the only one who was ever sent on them, especially this school year.
‘What about the curse? How did the fight go?’
The concern was evident on his face. He knew that she had to see Shoko, but he wanted, no, needed, to know how bad her injuries were. He never told her, but he hated that she had to hurt herself to use her technique effectively in most fights.
Her smile dimmed at the memory. “It was a first-grade, nothing special, but I did get a bit more roughed up than usual,” She lightly scratched her cheek with a single gloved finger, a nervous tic of hers that she never quite got rid of. “But it was nothing I couldn’t handle, so don’t worry.”
He would always worry about her. Before he lifted his pen to write more, Chiyo started speaking again. “I did encounter a second-grade before I made my way back, though.”
“Takana?”
“Yeah, that's why I delayed my return for another day,” She looked up at the sky, noticing the sun was high above the horizon, and figured it must be around noon. She slipped the soft pink cardigan off her shoulders before folding it and placing it on the step next to her. Her arms were bare except for the gloves on her hands and the short sleeves of her t-shirt, exposing the light scars on her arms. “I figured while I was around, I’d deal with it before anyone else got hurt and someone else was dispatched. It took me half a day to find it, so I figured I would stay for another night. I didn’t want to deal with the people on the late runs of the train.”
‘Did you get hurt?’
“Not really, but I overestimated how strong it was, so I probably used more blood than was necessary. I think I cut deeper than I needed to.”
Toge stiffened at that. “Igura.”
Chiyo whipped her head back in his direction. “I’m fine, really!” She was mildly frantic, waving her gloved hands. "It was nothing too bad, Toge! I promise!" She didn’t fully understand why he was so worried, he had seen her with far worse injuries, but she didn’t want him to worry when he didn’t need to.
Toge softly grasped her left hand and carefully removed the black silk glove that covered it. Her palm was facing the sky, and he softly ran his thumb over the pale lines of the scars on her palm. Concern was evident on his face, from the small frown that his pretty lips were pulled into, to the knot in between his furrowed eyebrows. She realized he would always worry about her injuries, her pain, her.
The soft moment was cut short when Maki called out to him. “Toge! Stop talking to Chiyo and keep training!” Toge grumbled, and dropped Chiyo’s hand before zipping his collar back up. She quickly slipped her glove back on her hand, faintly aware of someone watching her.

I really love your art of Tsukishima with Chiyo and Koito... it has my head swirling with vague ideas of like... Koito snooping around and vaguely finding out about the tragedy that was Tsukishima's relationship with her, and deciding to find her as a surprise gesture for Tsukishima. what Koito doesn't realize is that Tsukishima had firmly decided not to involve himself in her life and just let her think he was dead, because it had been too long, she probably has her own life by now, and he's done so much since he knew her... etc.
so he makes it happen... he finds Chiyo and gets her and Tsukishima in the same place at the same time, and of course she's ecstatic to know he's alive. but it is complicated, and emotional, and at first Tsukishima is borderline furious with Koito, but that's just because he had been going along so dead inside, and now he's literally feeling years and years worth of emotions at once, and every single one of them is a lot. it takes a long time to sort everything out, but he and Chiyo probably spend a significant amount of time practically attached at the hip because none of this even feels real yet.
Chiyo ends up really liking Koito because he actually cared enough to bring them back together... and she's especially grateful when she learns that Tsukishima never planned on finding her again. she doesn't blame him... clearly there were a lot of factors that led to that mindset, but that's why Koito was especially necessary. also, Chiyo's life hasn't been bad or anything, and Tsukishima kind of crash landing in the middle of it might cause some friction... but she really reeeeeally never got over him, and she's never giving him up again, if she has anything to say about it.
so basically ot3 happens over time because Tsukishima and Chiyo kind of owe their whole repaired relationship to Koito, and Koito is just charmed as hell by anything that either of them do. he's literally never seen this many emotions in Tsukishima for the entire time he's been around him, and it totally recontextualizes everything Koito thought he knew about Tsukishima. and Chiyo is more than happy to chat with Koito about how Tsukishima used to be, or hear stories about what Koito and Tsukishima have been up to... it's super cute.
anyway! your art is perfect and it makes me so happy
Thank you so much!!! I love your headcanon tbh :DDD I had some ideas about how Koitsuchi would come together. It's a little bitter at the beginning tho.
Basically, Koitsuki are together but Koito notices Tsukishima gets sad and avoidant whenever he does some gestures so after learning about Chiyo he secretly finds her but only because he NEEDS to know and let her know what's going on and because he NEEDS to make sure that respecting hers and Tsukishima's decision to leave things as they are is the right thing to do. (Side note, he introduces himself as Tsukishima's superior and close friend.)
Chiyo confesses (even tho he's a stranger) that despite not being able to give her husband a child he still loved her and she loved him as well, stating that she is very happy and wishes Tsukishima to be happy as well.
Then, the WTF part:
After almost a year passes when Koito receives a letter from Chiyo's husband asking to meet Tsukishima so he panics and tells Tsukishima who reacts borderline furious (just like you say xD) But Koito convinces him to accept as a way to get closure (and that if he tries to do something they can kill him in self-defense😂) so they're shocked when, after a long interview, Chiyo's husband surrenders her because he's very sick. Like, what?
The comical part is Chiyo's husband doesn't know that Koito is more than a friend to Tsukishima so he thinks Koito's troubled face is due to a stomachache💧. Then Tsukishima finally gets to see Chiyo, it's very emotional, Koito is happy too but sweating cold, trying to supress a mental breakdown🤡.
Note that Koito wasn't trying to get them together (not the most wholesome thing but I personally think Koito wanted to keep Tsukishima😂) so he kinda dislikes her but she's so nice he's not capable to be rude to her. Koitsuki don't know what to do. One day Chiyo has a talk with Koito confessing she knew from the beginning that Koito was more than just a friend to Tsukishima. And for some reason, BOTH, AT THE SAME TIME, think "what if we share??" And both know what the other is thinking👀.
So yeah, fanfic xD

Could you answer this question? I went through a bunch of Sakura fics, many recommended by yourself (many good ones, thanks for your excellent taste!) but I also explored on my own, which is how this question spurred. I was wondering why so many ppl want Sakura to have wood release? &, because it's been a while so my memory's foggy, wasnt wood release sort of a bloodline thing? They had to infuse Hashirama's cells w/ Yamato for him to use it. It seems a little...I guess radical to give it to her? I LOVE Sakura, which is exactly why it kind of throws me off. I think she's already strong as is, & I think being able to utilize genjutsu & slug sage mode are logical expansions of her abilities, so wood release seems very...Idk how to put it but it seems like erasing Sakura. I'm discovering that I truly really dont think I like BAMF Sakura fics a lot bc it just doesnt read AS Sakura. It's like the author's are ashamed of her. Also I dislike when they use Strong!Sakura as a tag on ao3 bc she IS strong that HASNT changed & there's a canonical version of BAMF!Sakura in everything before the Pein arc. Everything after the Pein arc turned the entire series in a bad fanfiction for everyone in itself.
Thank you, I'm happy to know you enjoyed my recs!
Tumblr media
That's a good question.
This is what I think makes Sakura badass ➡ here
I love Sakura the way she is, as well. Her development, however, is lacking not in terms of her personality but her skillset. She has impressive chakra control, monstrous strength and is one of the two frontline medics and one of the best healers in the world. She has impressive feats under her belt as well, two of the most remarkable include her byakugo seal and her fight with Sasori alongside Chiyo. But it pales in comparison to her teammates, including Sai and Kakashi. I don't mind that too, because her journey is different than others, excluding Lee and possibly Tenten. She isn't seen much involved in fights, her attacks are repetitive in the show, she isn't bestowed many techniques under her belt and her best moments are in games and novels. It is not her character's fault but Kishimoto who just doesn't use her strength and intelligence which he (and other characters) have mentioned she has.
She is genjutsu type – but has she ever performed one, or even gotten out of one easily? Whats the use of such information if Kishimoto doesn't use it?
She has near perfect chakra control – she should be easily able to perform many techniques and practice different elements, especially water, but earth style and cloning is what we mostly ever see her use.
She has good foundation in Taijutsu – and that should increase her stamina and therefore her chakra coils, and that in turn will ensure she is able to use many techniques.
Her medical and research skills are only next to Tsunade – and we wish to see her revolutionize the medical field which she has but in Borutoverse. That is time skip. That doesn't really relive you much.
She has resistance to mind jutsus, thanks to her inner personality – and theoretically she should be able to even evade strong genjutsus like she did Ino's clan technique (something never been done before) but Kishimoto only used that incredible ability once. ONCE.
She has massive chakra storage and exceptional chakra control and sensitivity – she should be able to master Senjutsu, a field which is all about chakra. Anything that has to do with chakra control is Sakura's playground.
She is more or less an unofficial poison expert – but we didn't see her playing with poison expertly (a poison that even Suna's poison experts failed to break) after Gaara's retrieval arc.
She is the smart and responsible one of team 7 – but Kishi often makes her look both stupid and selfish. We don't see her use her intelligence much. I hate that more than her lacking in the expansion of the skills.
She trained under a political leader – that itself makes her and Shizune great administrators and governors. So, out of everyone, Sakura is the one of the best Hokage material. Hokage is said to be the strongest fighter of the village but that requirement failed us when Tsunade became the fifth Hokage.
She has yin seal – the strongest seals one can make, in their own body no less. It also shows her expert control of her chakra. She can summon one of the big 3 summons. Sealing is more or less code that requires high intelligence and great chakra control that can be fused into the ink. As far as I can tell, she is one of the best candidates to learn Fuinjutsu.
With all these possibilities of her growth – because it is not something we make up but something Kishi has implied she has but never explored – how can one not exploit it? It doesn't mean one doesn't love Sakura for who she is but that its because they love her that they want to give her what she has the right to. She doesn't have to be expert at something to be powerful, just her putting her skills to best use is admirable as it is. I love Sakura for who she is and who she could be.
Tumblr media
Now, onto the question as to why people seem to favour giving Sakura wood release, this are the following reasons that I think could be it:
Does it have to be bloodline limit?
Kishimoto gave Hashirama a unique bloodline limit that apparently cannot be inherited by any other Senju. That defeats the purpose of bloodline limit. What makes Senju clan so different? Without Hashirama in the picture, you cannot distinctly identify a Senju clan member aside from their strong chakras. Tobirama is identified for his water techniques. Tsunade has perfect control of her chakra that allowed her to exhibit monstrous strength and incredible healing abilities. How come wood release is a bloodline limit but is not passed down the line?
It is complicated because Tsunade is also renowned for her perfect chakra control just like Hashirama. So, some stories make Sakura a secret Senju clan member because of her uncanny resemblance to Tsunade and Senju clan in general. Pink hair can be a diluted version of Red (Mito) and her chakra control originating directly from Hashirama's lineage.
I personally don't like this because I love Sakura being a civilian child.
It's not a bloodline limit:
So, assuming wood release is not a bloodlimit but a very hard technique requiring precise chakra control and mastery of dual elements Earth and Water, then it is possible for Sakura to practice same technique because of her prodigious chakra control. By that logic, we can also assume that Tenzo inherited Hashirama's unique chakra control to use wood release. Because Orochimaru could have used Tsunade's DNA too if it was only about clan blood. So that rules out bloodline limit.
I love the idea of Sakura practising wood release because it is possible for her to do so. So if an author gives Sakura wood release that she hones with practice and control (ref. fanfic: Labyrinthine) instead of having been gifted with it, I'm digging it.
Nature chooses the wood user:
Naruto universe has many references to spiritual entities such as gods/goddesses, reincarnation and celestial bodies. It is conceivable to make nature an ethereal entity that has its own will. Sakura looks like the embodiment of spring with her petal hair and green eyes, and Hashirama can be compared to wood with his warm personality and appearance, these attributes can make them look distinctly attractive to nature. No other characters remind me strongly of nature than these two so I suppose they can be uniquely selected to be blessed this ability. Tenzo's abilities is the result of human experiment by Orochimaru who always cheats on nature so he is an exception.
I only like this because I like the idea of Sakura being Nature's child.
Tumblr media
Most stories that I love don't give her a special edge and only give her more techniques under her arsenal. It is very rarely that I love an OCC Sakura who has a bloodline, a clan or godlike abilities.
After Pein's arc, Naruto turned into a joke. Everyone in team 7 (barring Sakura, Sai and Yamato) and long list of antagonists seemed to get power ups left and right. Sakura got hers in the last moment as a last ditch effort to reunite team 7 as one, a moment that felt so hasty that I couldn't take the show seriously at all. I was so disappointed with the whole war arc. I cringe just thinking about it. I sometimes think if it would have been better for everyone to just die with happily ever after in their mind. That would be tragic but a fitting end because Madara became too OP and Kaguya ridiculously so.
The reason people add 'Strong', 'BAMF', 'Smart' prefixes before Sakura is the reason why people add extra qualities to Sakura's character. They are not satisfied with how Sakura handles herself in fights and many base her fights with the one she had with Sasori. After that, did you see her actively participating in any major fight, barring her attempts to make a score on sidelines? Usually, these fanfictions also justify why she is Tsunade 2.0, something the Naruto failed to show.
By the way, many stories have BAMF tag for Shikamaru, Naruto and Sasuke as well. Are they not already strong af? They don't use Strong tag for them though, and that's because their fighting prowess is already seen. Shikamaru is not much of a fighter as much as he is a strategist and a leader. He is a cool and sly character. Naruto and Sasuke have flashy moves with flashy names under their belt with absurd power levels that puts them in god tier. Sakura has none of that – no signature move that is uniquely her, no clan to back her, no move with a name (barring game moves) – and she is seen useless because she is a healer which is a non-offensive, background job even if it is the most crucial and taxing job. It's significance is even more reduced when people point out how her work is futile because they are again sent to the fight/missions once they are up to go. Most fans only care for visual aesthetics, regardless of how rare and in-demand medics are because of the lack of qualified people who can muster and use medical chakra properly.
Sakura is more than just a healer but in canon she is more or less reduced to that. To make things worse for her, both Ino and Hinata are also shown to have healing techniques. They both also have clan techniques (vastly unknown) with them which makes them appear more 'useful'. Sakura is literally in the shadow of her mentor and her friends.
In Boruto, she is said to be the most powerful Kunoichi of her generation and quite possibly the greatest medic in the world but in Shippuden it is severely undermined. This is also why Boruto fans love Sakura but a bunch of Shippuden fans don't.
I mostly don't judge BAMF/Strong Sakura fanfictions, but I mostly avoid Anbu Sakura fanfictions if I can because I personally don't belive Sakura to be an Anbu material.
.
I want to add more, but I think I got my point across. Thank you for reading this far. I hope I answered your question adequately.

The rain, Akaashi Keiji part two
I'm sorry it's been such a long time I've just had some stuff going on but here it is, part two. I also think @bakudummy asked to be tagged, if you didn't ask me to I'm sorry please tell me I'll take it off anyway enjoy! Akaashi was currently locked in a debate between himself and himself. While one side was telling him that it would be fine if he visited [Name] and Takahashi in normal clothing while the other was telling him that they weren’t close enough and that he was required to wear a three-piece suit. The first side then argued back that they might think he’s rude if he showed up for a cup of hot chocolate in formal wear. In the end, he decided that after picking [Name] and her cake off the street and getting her to Takahashi’s apartment, what he wore probably mattered the least to either of them right now and settled on a cotton T-shirt. He made his way out of his apartment and knocked on the door to his right, which was opened by Takahashi. He hadn’t usually seen her like this. She had changed out of the pencil skirt she so usually wore to work and was currently in a sweater and leggings. She also looked surprised to see Akaashi in anything but his work wear. She let him in and went back to the stove, where the milk for the hot chocolate was bubbling on the stove. He saw [Name] spread out on an armchair, now changed out of her wet clothes. She saw him and immediately perked up, changing her position to see him better. He took a seat on the couch across from her. She gave him a smile and immediately began speaking to him.
“Stoneface-san! Feeling better?”
“Yes, much better. How about you?”
She smiled. “I’m doing great! I got my cake, I got to meet you, I got to see Yo-chan, and now she’s making me hot chocolate!”
Akaashi smiled at the childlike elation she had at the situation she was in. She was an optimist to the bone.
He was a bit jealous of her, though he didn’t realize it. He was jealous of people like her. They didn’t have a care in the world, complete confidence in themselves. And people like him or Takahashi were following them around making sure nothing happened to them because, jaded and anxious as they were, they didn’t want that optimism to fade. It gave them strength too. It reminded him of the former captain of his high school volleyball team. Bokuto-san’s confidence was a force to be reckoned with and now there he was, playing professionally on a world stage.
Takahashi walked over with two mugs of hot chocolate, setting them on the coffee table that separated him and [Name]. [Name]’s smile grew wider upon seeing the drink and she happily picked it up and immediately took a big sip.
Immediately she started coughing.
“Ah barned mah tahnge.” She said, with her tongue hanging out.
Takahashi and Akaashi started laughing in unison as [Name] also began laughing with her tongue still hanging out.
“Why are you laughing? You burned your tongue?” Akaashi asked through chuckles.
“It is funny,” [Name] said through sips of cold water to soothe her tongue.
Time was spent happily drinking hot chocolate while [Name] told them jokes and stories.
Putting down his mug, Akaashi looked at [Name].
“[Name]-san, I’ve been meaning to ask your full name, as I didn’t get it when I met you.”
[Name] smiled. “[Last Name] [Name]”
Akaashi did a double take. “I’ve been calling you by your first name this whole time? That’s incredibly disrespectful as we don’t know each other well”
“It’s fine, Stoneface-san. I’ve never liked using my surname as it puts a formality barrier between me and who I’m talking to. Please use my first name.”
Akaashi nodded in acceptance. “So [Name], what do you do for work?”
She winked. “If I told you it would be no fun. It’s your job to guess. Your hint is that I’m in the creative field.” After many consecutive wrong guesses, [Name] changed the subject and started telling them what had happened to her at the train station that morning. As they laughed, Akaashi began to realize how much fun he was having.
It had been a long time since he had done anything like this. He maintained a strictly professional relationship with his coworkers and Bokuto-san was not free most of the time with having gone professional. He would come by and have a drink with Akaashi ever so often, but Bokuto-san usually found himself leaving early to spend more time with Shoyo. Akaashi didn’t mind that he was branching out and he knew that their adult life was definitely going to impact their friendship. However, it was not after he lost them that he realized just how much he cherished the carefree days on the volleyball team, how he would chase Bokuto-san around with an umbrella to stop him from getting wet in the rain.
It was probably why he spent so many late nights at work, trying to quiet his mind by occupying it. His high school friends were all busy with their own lives, he felt he should be as well.
“Stoneface-san?” He heard
He snapped out of his daze and saw [Name] staring at him, slightly concerned.
“Are you okay? Your stare was really blank and you didn’t laugh when I told you about when I threw a squid tentacle at the guy who came to collect my taxes.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I guess I’m just feeling a bit tired. I also have some work due tomorrow, so do you mind if I take my leave?”
Takahashi looked at him, obviously concerned, but trying to hide it. “Yes of course, I’ll show you to the door.”
She walked him over to the door of the apartment and opened it, letting him go through.
“Thank you for looking after [Name] today, I’m sorry if she was a bit of an inconvenience. It was nice to have you both over, we should do it again sometime.”
Akaashi nodded, thanked her, and went inside his own apartment.
He didn’t mean to leave so abruptly, but he wasn’t lying, he did have work.
He made his way to the small desk by the window of his apartment and sat down, picking up the large, stapled sheet of paper by his window.
Today, his work was a bit more enjoyable than usual. He was editing one of his more favorite comics that was published in his magazine. Asuma no Sekai was a comic set in a demon world, with the main character being an incredibly lazy demon who preferred eating cake to doing her job. The crazy schemes she pulled to get out of doing her job were sometimes more work than doing the actual job and always made the reader laugh. Editing it was a more favorable part of Akaashi’s week and it never failed to lift his mood. The author was Sakurai Daisuke. He had never met the author in person as he usually sent someone else to pick up his manuscript, but he looked forward to meeting someone who was such a good mangaka.
After spending a couple hours reading, laughing, and editing the work, Akaashi went to bed as he had work the next morning.
[Name] had left on the first train that morning and though Akaashi was slightly mournful that he didn’t get to say goodbye, he continued on with his day like normal.
As the week went by, [Name] occupied Akaashi’s thoughts slightly more than a normal person would. He would pass by the cake shops in his area and wonder if she would enjoy the one in the display window. He was confused by why he was thinking about her so often, but chalked it up to the fact that there were a lot of cake shops in his area.
Later that week, on an afternoon while he was home, Akaashi got a call from his employee, Okomoto Chiyo. She sounded extremely distressed.
“Akaashi-san! I’m so so sorry to bother you!”
“It’s okay, what do you need?”
“My wife is sick and I’m home taking care of her. I was supposed to pick up Sakurai-san’s manuscript today, but Nanako’s been throwing up all day and I can’t afford to leave her now. Do you mind picking it up?”
Akaashi was slightly annoyed, as he had just gotten home. However, he knew that he couldn’t possibly ask his employee to leave her sick wife.
“It’s completely okay. May I have Sakurai-san’s address? At least I can finally meet him.”
“It’s xxx-xxx on the other side of the city. The train will be able to get you there really fast. Sakurai-san should have completed her manuscript by now.”
“Her?” Akaashi was confused
“Sakurai Daisuke is a pen-name. The author is female. She picked a male name to sound more ambiguous.”
“Oh, that comes as a bit of a surprise.”
“Thank you so much for doing this, Akaashi-san! I am forever grateful to you.”
“It’s no problem.”
Akaashi looked out his window and toward the train station which was a couple blocks away. It was raining.
As he turned, his eyes fell on a now-dry neon yellow umbrella. He must have forgotten to give it back to [Name].
He picked up the umbrella, put on a long brown coat, and ran out his apartment door.
He was able to make it onto the train last minute, sitting on the seat in relief. As the train moved along, he thought about what the author might be like.
Thinking about it now, it was fairly obvious that this author wasn’t like most of the male authors Akaashi’s company had published.
There was barely any fan service in the series and the author made sure to write her female characters just as realistic and flawed as her male characters. Most of the male authors drew one woman with an unrealistic body and made her show up every now and then to rip her clothes off and leave. Sakurai-san’s female characters had personalities and all different body shapes, some bigger or smaller, darker or lighter, more like the women he would see in the real world.
The train announced his stop and he walked out, looking at the paper where he jotted down the address.
He navigated his way through the twists and turns until he finally got to the apartment building.
He entered and went to the specified floor and found the correct door.
As he raised his hand to knock, Akaashi suddenly felt a bit nervous to meet this author who he borderline idolized, especially when he found out he was wrong about her gender the whole time.
Nevertheless, his hand tapped lightly on the door twice and he heard footsteps rush to open it.
What he saw behind the door was definitely not what he expected.
[Name] was peeking out, wearing a large animal onesie, holding a plate of cake with a plastic fork.
“Stoneface-san?"

(in reference to [this ask meme]!)
2) Who do they look to for guidance?
when Chiyo was still alive, it was very common for Khaizo to have sort of mental “conversations” with himself on what he thought Tama would do in a given situation. he wanted to maintain a sense of Tama's presence in Chiyo's life, so honoring what he thought Tama would have wanted with her was important to him; he also spent a lot of his time in those years feeling lost, especially in the beginning, so this idea that he might be able to "talk to her" and imagine her guidance on any number of things was something he leaned on a lot.
after Chiyo died, he felt (among countless other things) that he had failed Tama by failing to protect their daughter, which meant that he spent a lot of time instead feeling too ashamed to take comfort in or consult his memory of Tama for guidance the way he used to. thus, in the years since, that memory -- of what she might say, of her voice, etc. -- has slowly eroded and grown more distant.
on a less serious note, he also quite respects Percevains, his much older coworker, and even Walcher, an older local alchemist he knows. although his advancing age and reclusive nature means he interacts with increasingly less of his "elders," he still has a reflexive respect for them, perhaps ingrained by his upbringing. it's questionable whether Khaizo would ever go asking these individuals for life advice, but should they offer it to him, he will often at least seriously consider it out of respect for their greater experience.
(he also, in acknowledging Liloie's close relationship with her own daughter, eventually comes to consult her for guidance on navigating difficult circumstances with Yesugen.)
7) Any family scandals? Does your character know about them?
gosh. the answer here is "yes, probably," but i haven't thought of any specifically.
Khaizo got more exposure to his mother's side of the family, which also had some significant notoriety in his tribe, so any scandals he was aware of probably came from that side. his mother's decision to marry a man from the Ura tribe -- especially one who didn't stand out for his hunting proficiency, one of the Khatayin's most valued standards of excellence -- was shocking and likely talked about as a point of gossip, but wasn't necessarily a scandal. the fact that his uncle eventually took up the bow instead of continuing the family tradition of spear-hunting was a similar level of "scandal" in that it was also likely gossiped about but ultimately wasn't that big of a deal.
both of Khaizo’s male cousins were troublesome in one way or another. Munokhoi was something of a perpetual slacker in a family of intensely competitive hunters, and i can see him having gotten entangled in something silly, like somehow romancing the tribe khagan's daughter despite being very unlike their traditional idea of a model young man. Ganzorig was the opposite; hypercompetitive and always looking to prove himself by any means possible, he frequently accrued injuries or got on his tribemates' nerves by butting heads with them over just about everything, and when Khaizo was young he sometimes let himself get goaded into participating. for the most part Khaizo was well-behaved, so if he got in some sort of trouble, it was usually by association with one of these two.
the last thing i'll mention is that Khaizo's mother was initially quite unhappy about his choice of wife, thinking him uncharacteristically rash and short-sighted and childish for even considering leaving his home and family for a woman he "couldn't have known as well as he did half of his own tribemates" -- and a woman who Khasar was convinced could not be much more than a pretty thing to look at, at that. Khaizo, who otherwise deeply respected his mother, fought bitterly with her on this front; not from a place of disrespect, but a place of hurt, as he took her assumption that he would make such a decision so flippantly to be an attack on his own character, to say little of his very Measured and Seriously-Considered decision at the wizened age of 17.
up until the point he actually left the tribe, Khaizo threw himself whole-heartedly into garnering his mother's blessing. (it helped that Khasar herself chose to marry someone more unconventional outside of the tribe, who then left his own family to be with her; Chuluun, who was more sympathetic and swayed by the sincerity of Khaizo's devotion to the woman he wished to be with, had many private conversations with Khasar in which he helped to whittle her down by reminding her of this.) caught in the midst of entreaties by both her husband and her son, it still wasn't until Tama herself came to the Khatayin encampment and threw herself at Khasar's feet (to Khaizo's own appalled surprise), promising to do whatever it took to win her approval, that Khasar finally softened.
that was probably the biggest "scandal" applicable to Khaizo's family -- Khasar's only son deciding to leave the tribe to be with an ex-Doman Raen woman was a story to be told -- but it certainly wasn't spoken again after news came by the Khatayin that Khaizo was seized from the Malaguld for conscription, only for his wife and child both to vanish from the tribe shortly thereafter. Khasar never did look at her tribemates' children the same after that, becoming bitter and unapproachable on the subject in her hurt.
that ended up way longer than i meant for it to be. whoops.
14) What is something that never fails to make them excited?
boy i sure would like to know
probably younger kids, though he would be hard-pressed to admit it (and he makes an effort to hide it). he feels very strongly for them, intense "i want to protect it and see it grow up happy and healthy" vibes. this applies to young animals, too, most of the time, and sometimes even more grown ones. if they interact with him positively at all, it really melts his heart, and if you know what to look for you can tell (expression softening, crinkling in the corners of his eyes). he can be surprisingly energetic with them.
21) Do they prefer giving or receiving gifts?
giving. giving his loved ones things that they cherish or make them light up is rewarding to him, and one of the reasons he feels so fulfilled by having learned how to make things with his hands. providing practical gifts (a nice set of boots for keeping warm, a weapon for hunting food, etc.) is a way to make him feel as though his loved ones are safe and cared for, which is the ultimate reward, tbh.
receiving things is nice, too, although part of Khaizo starts to feel uncomfortable any time he accrues too many things that could be seen as "memorabilia" of a person. he's seen several people that he dearly loves rendered into a token or two (or in Chiyo's case, a whole childhood of bits and bobbles that make up all he has left of her) of remembrance, and the thought of one day having to look at those gifts he received from someone and hurt over their loss in a similar way detracts from the moment sometimes.
23) What do they want most in life?
in truth, he just wants to live a fairly content, peaceful life surrounded by family that he helps protect and provide for -- he's very traditionally minded in that regard. he 100% would have lived a pretty standard and unremarkable life out in his tribe in Othard if he hadn't been picked up and forcibly conscripted into the Garlean Empire to fight in a war halfway across the world. like really, his entire life has just been him trying his Absolute Hardest to live a normal goddang life meanwhile the universe drags him off into some conflict or another; the only exception being that half a decade where he was so pissed that it (and particularly the Ishgardians) wouldn't stop ruining his life that he, like, murdered some people over it.
24) What do they think they’re good at, but aren’t?
being stoic and unattached and making completely objective / logical decisions not at all informed by a crippling fear of loss and failure.
don't tell him that, though.
(he’s actually always been kinda bad about this, as evidenced by his decision to leave his tribe to be with Tama. he tried to be reasonable and logical about it, as much as a love-struck 17 year old can be, but most anyone else could see that emotion played no small part. all of which is to say, he’s often very blind to how strongly his emotions influence his logic -- sometimes even, in the most egregious cases, as someone is actively rubbing his nose in it.)
35) What color would they paint their nails?
if you wouldn't paint your nails black are you even goth
also, it was brought up that he would let any little kids who wanted to paint his nails paint them whatever color they liked, which is completely true and valid.
40) Blanket fort or tree house?
tree house. those trees in the Dravanian Forelands look like they could make some pretty sick tree houses. great, now i want that to be a thing. (can that be a thing?)

*slaps notebook down on table* OK SO I WAS WATCHING ANIME AND I GOT A NEW SANDERS SIDES AU IDEA LMK WHAT Y'ALL THINK
1. Miss Yukari Tanizaki- Remy
Yukari is... a wild character. She's an English Teacher, is generally a chaotic disaster, is terrible with money, is messy as hell, and constantly bothers Nyamo, her best friend and fellow teacher. She is also a TERRIBLE driver, to the point that Chiyo is, like.... low-key traumatized.
2. Miss Minamo "Nyamo" Kurosawa- Emile Picani
Nyamo is the responsible counter to Yukari's chaos. She's a PE teacher, and most of her students (and Yukari's students) will go to her for advice. She usually wins any and all of Yukari's half-baked challenges to prove which of them is the "better" teacher. She's also a bit self conscious about the fact she's never had a boyfriend. She's also always down to smack Mr Kimura, another teacher who is... creepy to the max and tries to perv on the girls at times.
3. Sakaki- Virgil
Sakaki is a very tall, kind of imposing quiet girl. A lot of her classmates are frightened of her, but she's honestly a total sweetheart. She loves cats in particular, but has... kind of bad luck with them. She wants to be small and cute like Chiyo, actually. She's also really really good at sports, which is neat.
4. Chiyo Mihama- Logan
Chiyo is a 10 year old child prodigy. She's very small and very clever and very, very cute. She has a huge dog called Mr Tadakichi, who is literally big enough she can RIDE on his BACK. IT'S SO CUTE Y'ALL. But, yeah, she's very cute and kind of... lowkey naive, which some of the others take advantage of occasionally. BUT SHE'S SO GOOD. Despite her lack of confidence because of her small stature. Also? Her family is filthy stinking rich, which is mostly played for laughs when the others go to her house/her family's summer home and shriek at how big they are.
5. Tomo Takino- Remus
I legit don't know how to summarize Tomo in my own words, so I'll let the wiki do the talking: "Tomo is extremely energetic and competitive, despite being nonathletic and a slacker at the same time. She randomly challenges people to competitions she can't win - mostly Sakaki in sports and Chiyo in scholastics. She tends to irritate everyone around her, but especially Yomi, who has been her classmate since elementary school. Tomo's character is extremely impulsive and she never considers nor cares about the consequences of anything she says or does. She is the only one of the main cast who picks on Chiyo. During the second trip to Chiyo's summer house, Tomo actually grabbed Chiyo's house keys and threw them into the forest because she wanted to see what would happen if they had lost them; which, of course, was a very bad idea. However, on the occasions when Tomo has actually been inspired to concentrate on something, she has demonstrated that she is quite capable. She succeeded in gaining the grades needed to qualify for the same high school as Yomi, though it was only after Yomi ridiculed her and openly said that there was no way that she could do so. Once Tomo began attending high school however, she returned to her lackadaisical ways."
6. Koyomi "Yomi" Mizuhara- Dee
Yomi is the voice of reason of the series, carrying herself as the most mature and sometimes bitter member of the group. Though smart and athletic, she is constantly dissatisfied with herself due to her weight and is always trying various diets in an effort to become thinner, which Tomo sometimes teases her about. Another thing is that, while she is above average in everything else, she is an AWFUL singer. While usually functioning as Tomo's balance, she sometimes manifests a rather cruel sense of humor, such as tricking Osaka into eating really spicy food. Yomi also has an uppercut that Tomo is usually on the receiving end of whenever she pushes Yomi too far. However, even though she likes to think that she is well above the immature behavior of some of her classmates, Yomi is... just as much of disaster as the rest of them.
7. Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga- Patton
Osaka is transfer student from, surprise surprise, Osaka. She gets very bad grades at school as she sleeps through most of her classes, and she is very bad at sports: the worst in her class and possibly the whole school. She's a total space cadet, but she's amused by bizarre stuff and makes puns and somewhat confusing comments as jokes. She's very sweet, loves food, and is very imaginative.
8. Kagura- Roman
Kagura was originally in Nyamo's class, but switched in their second year. She displays a very competitive spirit with her peers in all things, though she's kind of a dumbass with academics, lol. She devotes most of her time to the swim team (as a result, she has a tan most of the time) but is an all-around good athlete, and genuinely nice to her classmates. She has a slight obsession with Sakaki, whom she sees as an athletic rival, because Sakaki is a naturally gifted athlete with no training at all. Like Tomo, Kagura tends to be quite impulsive in her actions- though, unlike Tomo, Kagura actually... tries to not be a dick, lol.

lol this is my time to shine I love this sad puppeteer very much.
So his characterization is honestly one of the best in the entire series, and it’s very easy to miss due to his appearances being confined to the very first arch of shippuden and a brief cameo in the war arch, but besides the uchihas and nagato/konan, Sasori has the most backstory that we can really delve into out of the other akatsuki members (credit where credit is due Kishimoto did a fantastic job of fleshing Sasori out in a very short amount of space).
For the question of how emotionally stunted Sasori actually is....well he’s a lot less than he claims to be. He claims to be emotionless just like a puppet. But, is that really the case? I don’t believe so, and only bc of what Sasori himself displays. The emotions he openly displays are mainly annoyance and impatience. Yes, these are emotions, negative, but definitely emotions. Him making little remarks of impatience at Deidara is indeed him being annoyed. If he truly didn’t have emotions like he claims, then he wouldn’t care how long Deidara kept him waiting. We can also see that when Orochimaru defected from the akatsuki, that Sasori, having been his partner held a grudge against him saying that he wanted to be the one to end Oro (Deidara also comments later on backing this up as well). Sasori would never admit it, but being Oro’s partner when he finally defected, Sasori felt a level of betrayal. What level he felt and why he felt betrayed I’ll tackle in a later point but lets keep it in mind. Also it’s stated by Chiyo after Sasori’s death that he let himself be killed. Like lets be real for a second, he was the best puppet master in the world at the time. He could have taken out Sakura (who was incredibly inexperienced at the time) and Chiyo (an elderly woman) if he really wanted to. He didn’t. That’s the whole point. He was so in denial, so far gone and out of touch with humanity that he deep down wanted an excuse to end it. Even though his whole “aesthetic” was basically to achieve immortality, in his subconscious he wanted it to end. Those are feelings. Awful feelings, but they’re there.
Now that we’ve debunked the “Sasori doesn’t have feelings” thing, lets look at why he feels the way he does. The root of Sasori’s problems comes from his parents’ untimely deaths and his subsequent care afterwards. Now I’m going to be referencing some of the filler episodes from shippuden (it’s up for debate whether they’re truly canon but they were decent episodes - not much wrong with them). In those episodes we see Chiyo not wanting to tell Sasori that his parents died, that they won’t be returning from the mission that they promised him they’d be back from. Sasori, who was maybe 5 years old at the time maybe even younger, had to figure this out all by himself bc Chiyo was too selfish to just tell him. Think of the trauma that could have been avoided if Chiyo had simply told her grandson the truth. Instead she distanced herself from him, which in turn made Sasori distance himself from the world. Sasori is a fantastic example of disassociation, because that’s ultimately his way of coping with all of the sadness that’s suddenly thrust upon him when he himself comes to the conclusion that his parents aren’t coming home. He can’t go to his grandmother who has inexplicably a) kept this secret from him and b) has drawn away from him for no apparent reason. He’s now dealing with tremendous lose, has no support system, and is starting to develop trust issues because his only relative has betrayed him in a sense that Chiyo is refusing to be there for him when truly he needed someone.
Now, let’s look at how Sasori copes when all the odds are stacked against him. His grandmother did do one thing that did help Sasori which is introduce him to puppetry (an argument can be said that this also set him down the path of self destruction as well). Sasori found that he was extremely well adept at making puppets and controlling them, and like almost every only child, found that his “toys” were fantastic companions. Now unlike other only children, Sasori was extremely lonely (which obviously was from the lose of his parents). He found solace in the company of the puppets he made (he made the mother and father puppets to pretend that his parents were still there). They made him feel not as alone. And they also couldn’t hurt him like actual humans. His grandmother hurt him by distancing herself from him, others constantly hurt him (especially seeing normal families) by being happy while he suffered in solitude. These feelings of course bred a sort of resentment for the rest of the village and led to Sasori isolating himself. Now the nature of Sunagakura while Sasori was a child allowed him to mold himself in the way that we eventually see him. Sunagakura was very militant, only respected power and skill (aka unique kekkei genkai or other skilled ninja). This sort of harsh environment breeds harsh results. Higher ups (including Chiyo herself) saw Sasori’s talent with puppets and allowed him the opportunity to excel in the field. This continued Sasori’s trend of isolation however and with his connections to Chiyo, he began to experiment with puppets (as seen in that filler episode). He had a complete disconnect from society which led to his defection from Suna. This is a definite nature vs nurture situation. The harsh political environment of Suna at the time further “nurtured” Sasori to be what he became. If his upbringing had gone differently, he definitely would have turned out differently, he might still have been an introvert, but not a psychopath.
On the topic of Orochimaru that I said I would get back to, I mentioned how Chiyo early on in Sasori’s life sowed the seeds of trust issues. Sasori was, for whatever reason, very loyal to the akatsuki. The organization let him do what he pleased while offering him a level of protection for doing missions for them every now and then. He had every reason to have a level of loyalty to the akatsuki which he spent about half of his life being apart of (kind of the timeline is a little fucked up but ya know) Orochimaru was Sasori’s partner when Oro ultimately defected. To Sasori he probably did take this as a personal betrayal, and tbh puppet boy was kinda petty - just like his future partner. But again, he was obviously vocal about his hatred (oh look another emotion) bc Deidara mentioned this. But it kind of does beg the question as to why Sasori would have been so offended by Oro’s defection. I’ve come to the conclusion that perhaps there was a part of him that never wanted to completely right off humanity. That after all of these years, Oro’s betrayal hit him harder than he ever thought bc he never expected it. He was comfortable with how the akatsuki was running (I like to think of him as a massive creature of habit) and Oro disrupted it, threw things off balance, and bc Sasori has never had healthy coping mechanisms, his only viable option was to swear to kill Orochimaru for betraying the one thing that had ever given Sasori’s life any sort of stability. And that’s what the Akatsuki was to Sasori. The only thing that didn’t judge him and let him do as he pleased. It was the only stable time in his life and it made him feel somewhat secure, he wanted it to last forever.

Questions and form made by @goddess-of-war-nyka
1. Introduce your summoner. –
Name: Caitlin Age: 25 Height: 5′5″ Weight: 160lbs Sexuality: Bisexual Eye Color: Dark brown, nearly black Hair Color: Red Nationality: American Hobbies: Singing, drawing, playing guitar
Caitlin is from the Midwest, in the Chicago area. She lives in an apartment nearby her family, which consists of her mom, dad, her older sister, younger sister, and her younger brother. She has a shiba inu named Chiyo! Her family is extremely important to her, they’re all really tight. While in Askr, she misses them terribly.
Her life is good, but…ultimately, boring. She went to college and graduated, but hasn’t done anything with her degree. Her day job is boring and unfulfilling, and generally she feels like she’s stuck in a rut where she just sort of…exists. She suffers from anxiety and depression, and that’s greatly affecting her motivation. If it weren’t for her side job, she’d probably be really depressed. In her downtime, she performs as a Disney Princess for birthday parties! The characters she plays includes Rapunzel, Elsa, Anna, and Aurora. She takes this job very seriously, and it actually is a primary source of income for her. She gets hired a lot, but it’s still not quite what she wants to be doing with her life. Sometimes she’ll fill in as a guitarist in her friend’s band when they need the help.
2. How did they come to Askr?
She was heading to a show when she was summoned to Askr. She was in her car schlepping a lot of their equipment and all of it ended up in Askr with her, along with her car, her laptop, phone, some spare clothes, makeup, and all of her costumes. She has a fair amount of things from her world on hand, which Heroes like to play with… her car especially. Unfortunately it broke on the way over, so it would have to be fixed if anyone wanted to actually drive it.
3. What are their favourite hobbies? –
She enjoys playing music! She’s a talented guitar player and can play a fair few instruments at a basic level. Probably took some piano lessons at school or something. She sings too, but it far to shy to sing for the heroes so that’s more of a secret talent unless you’re a peeping tom and spy on her in the baths.
Drawing is a hobby, she enjoys doodling to relieve stress. Drawing practice always took a back seat to music, though, so she’s not like... super good at it, but it’s something she enjoys. She probably has a notebook she carries around that she doodles in. The Morgans are convinced it’s full of strategy secrets and try to steal it, but in reality it’s like... silly pictures of cats in socks.
4. Does your summoner have any bad habits that the heroes try to help them through? –
Confidence issues for sure. This seems to be a common theme among Summoners, and she’s really no different. She thinks the heroes are all amazing, wonderful people and that she simply pales in comparison. Her powers are a blessing from the Breidablik, so the praise she gets as the Summoner makes her feel like a liar. They’re praising Kiran, not her, she feels.
She really beats herself up inside when a plan fails.
Also frets over whether or not heroes actually like her, or if they’re just influenced by their contract.
Low key feels ugly in comparison to the other women, keeps that to herself though.
5. How close is your summoner to their heroes? –
Very close I’d say. As much as she worries, she takes her job as the Summoner seriously and does her best to take care of everyone. Besides, most of the heroes are such likable people it would be hard not to make friends!! She loves everyone dearly.
6. Does your summoner struggle with being a tactician? –
Nah, the Breidablik grants her powers that make her a great tactician.
The Breidablik houses the spirit of a Valkyrie, a legendary entity who chooses who lives and who dies on the battlefield. This spirit, known as Kiran, was a divine blessing bestowed upon Askr long ago by the Gods to protect the kingdom. The Breidablik itself was given to a legendary hero, the only person who can wield it. Kiran resides within the Breidablik and gives it and the Hero their powers. Caitlin is a reincarnation of this hero who was summoned to Askr in its time of need. The Breidablik’s powers include:
Summoning Heroes.
Sight - the ability to see the battlefield and form strategy.
Command - the ability to bend Heroes to their will.
Valkyrie Drive - Caitlin gets possessed by the Valkyrie spirit, and is given a short burst of incredible strength and magic. However, the Summoner needs to recover for a while afterwards.
Still working on the fine details with this so yeah lmao--
7. How did your summoner react during their first time summoning? –
“WHAT THE FU-”
Panic for sure.
What the fuck is happening? Where am I? You want me to do what now? What? WHAT???? She calms down eventually, but being plucked from your world and then being told to do stuff and then FIGHT is scary as fuck imo and she’s absolutely overwhelmed for a bit.
8. How does your summoner react to summoning now? –
“Man, I have to summon now... ugh, it makes me so tired, do I have to...??”
9. How well do they adjust to life in Askr? –
Pretty well, the Order is helpful and eager to make her feel welcome and comfortable.
10. How long have they been a summoner? –
Since the beginning of the game...? LMAO- Uhh, idk she’s summoned when Anna summons in game, so she’s not brought in at any special time.
11. Who’s your summoner’s main team? –
Grima, Robin, Alfonse, Veronica.
12. Who’s your summoner’s S support? –
Alfonse hehe...
13. How was your Summoner and ally support building to S support?–
HONESTLY she doesn’t get with Alfonse so it must just be like.... a strong... bond of friendship....??? I have given this 0 thought lmao sorry--
14. How many allies have s support with your summoner? –
Grima obviously heheheheheeh-- that’s like the “canon” pair, but there’s also potential for Alfonse and Bruno... probably as a poly because Bruno and Alfonse are cute as FUCK together djskldjals
But then again I have Grima supported with Alfonse so Cait/Grima/Alfonse COULD be a thing......... god dude idk I’m just thirsty af yall know me.
15. What are your top 4 ally x ally supports? –
16. What does your summoner miss from home? – THE INTERNET would make it SO MUCH EASIER to look up all of the heroes’ backstories and searching for Askran/Nordic mythology homygod.
17. If they could bring one thing from home with them what would it be? – T h e I n t e r n e t.
18. Is your summoner’s robe unique? –
Tumblr media
19. Who are your fellow summoner friends? –
@terra-haven‘s Sapphire, @vince-prime‘s Kuma, @lunalove25‘s Luna, among others hehe
20. What does your summoner wear if during their down time? –
UHHHH comfy stuff. Probably walks around in minimal clothing LMAO-- Long shirts/sweaters, after a while she’s forced to wear leggings underneath. She has a more high matenance wardrobe back home, but in Askr comfort is king.
21. How do they handle merging heroes or sending them home? –
Idk, in Cait’s storyverse I don’t think merging and sending people home would really be a thing...? Not sure how I wanna go about handling this tbh??? I think if she were to get dupes, it would just end up being a failed summon or something. Or maybe it would manifest as a item that powers up certain heroes. I think she could send heroes home but.... idk, the hero would have to consent.
22. What abilities/weapons do they have? –
When in Valkyrie mode the Breidablik turns into a lance, but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary for a Summoner.
23. Would your summoner like to know magic? –
Summoning is totally a type of magic, so I think that Summoners in general have an innate talent for magic and can learn it. Caitlin would totally be interested, magic is dope as fuuuuuck.
24. Are they able to hold their own in a fight? –
LMAO nah, not really. She tries and gets lucky, but that luck comes from summoner valkyrie powers lmao-
25. How many heroes have you acquired?  I’m too lazy to open the app and check lmao sorryyy
26. What book has been the hardest? Emotional or battle-wise. –
Book 3 has me fucking shook fam.
27. If your summoner went into battle what would be there class? –
Singer for sure.
28. Are there any heroes they clash with? –
Honestly??? Nah, she’s not super interested in actively fighting with anyone I don’t think.I mean I think there’s the obvious heroes no one really LOVES but I think Cait is the type to find them all amusing in their own way. Looooves to mess with Narcian. Valter’s just creepy but in almost a sort of entertaining way, especially since she’s in charge and he can’t actually do anything to her.
I love Berkut but I can see Cait being very eager to put him in his place.
29. Which hero have you pumped more into? –
Grima, Alfonse.
30. Which hero do you get a lot of while summoning? –
Not sure, don’t really pay that much attention.
31. Which heroes have they adopted? –
ALL OF THE KIDS. Who let these children fight? NO WAR FOR KIDDIES NO NO NO-- Loves dragons best hehe
32. Do they participate in voting gauntlets? –
Keeps tabs on them, doesn’t really care that much.
33. How do they handle their orbs? –
“TIME TO YOLO SUMMON BABY”
34. What hero do you wanna see in Fire Emblem Heroes? –
The whole cast of Awakening blz-
35. Will your summoner stay in Askr? Nifl? Muspell? Hel? Embla? –
HM. A good question lmaooooo
grima/cait is my self indulgent end game so uh not sure uhhhhhh
I think she’d convince him to come back home with her tbh. she wouldn’t want to stay in Zenith forever. Loves her family too much to just stay forever.
36. What is your Summoner life like years later if they stayed? Askr. Nifl. Muspell. Hel. Embla. –
She wouldn’t stay, she’d go home for sure.
37. Summoner’s family reacting to your summoner’s significant other?–
UHHHH fuck dude I have no fucking clue LMAO-- this thing is full of shit i never considered???
They’d probably be justifiably worried--
38. In a twist of fate, if your summoner could change one thing what would it be? –
Probably making Bruno join the order or something, she’s salty he leaves.

@r95irth
Koyuki Kojima
Her personality in five words: extroverted, jokes lover, curious, independent, stubborn
Her Quirk: allows her to remember every seen open space places, from her room to an immense land. She can projects them in people’s mind, giving them the illusion of being there. As long as nothing changes in her illusion, she can use the same imagine again and again. Sometimes after using her quirk she enters in a confusing state: she mistakes places and even people.
Her mother doesn’t like when she uses her quirk at home and Koyuki doesn’t really know why; however, she loves her quirk and when she discovers a new place she always shows it to her friends by projecting it in their minds.
Likes: Koyuki really cares about her appearance, especially her clothes. She is obsessed with korean fashion, both female and male, and her closet is full of male’s pullovers and korean’s long skirts. She is trying to drag her brother Hideki in this “world” but he prefers more his “boring standards t-shirts”, as she says. She likes milkshakes, at Mc she always takes vanilla milkshake with french fries, and love the gross expressions that her friends do when they see her literally drown the fries in the milkshake. Sh isn't a genius at school but she adore studying and she tries to do her best every day. She may have a secret passion for aliens theories.
In general she loves her whole family and life. She tries to find the good side of everything and this may brings her to trust people too easily.
Dislikes: She can’t stand cats, she might be the only girl in the world. It’s not like they are ugly or because she prefers dogs - well, she does really like dogs, but that’s not the point - it’s just that they hate her so why loving someone that hate you?
Koyuki loves school but waking up early is something she can hardly handle, especially because she goes to sleep late and the next morning she has two big eyeshadows. Despite being an open minded girl, she gets angry when someone points out that she might being wrong on something.
Her family: Koyuki is the second child of Chiyo and Kenichi Kojima, a strange couple that was bad seen when they were younger. Her mother, Chiyo, is a strict and yet beautiful woman that lived her whole teenage life fighting for her rights. On the other hand, her father Kenichi is a easy going man, with always a smile on his face. Her father has a sort of villain past: her grandfather was part of a villain group in the city of Nagasaki and he used his son for many purposes. After his death, however, a police officer named Taro took away Kenichi with him.
Her parents are very different and the fact they are still together despite all their fights is very shocking for the neighborhood. However, Koyuki is not worried about their relationship: she knows they love each other endlessly.
Both her parents are quirkless; she took her Quirk from her grandmother and her brother Hideki from grandfather - both parents of Chiyo.
Her big brother Hideki is a serious and hardworking young man. His Quirk is “Quick learning” that essentially allows him to understand and remember things really quickly; not casually he was the best student during his school’s days. He isn’t very talkative and at a first sight he even seems to hate people because he avoids them. The reality is that people from his past bullied him for being homosexual and this still hurts him. He isn’t the biological son of Kenichi but he loves his step-dad - and Koyuki, of course. Koyuki and her brother share a strange yet beautiful relationship: they often fight during the day and sleep in the same bed in the night.
Secret Past: Koyuki had a beautiful childhood, so she has no secret or dark past of sorta.
Saddest Memory: During his teenager days Hideki has a very tough moment because of the bullying. At the time Koyuki was just a child and didn’t really understand why her big brother cried every night or why he was always covered in bruises. Her parents were agitated; Hideki and Chiyo often fought and Kenichi was forced to become a wall in order to divide them.
Koyuki could feel her brother suffering - all her family's suffering - and from that moment she hates bullying and sadness.
her relationship in class: in general she goes along pretty well with everybody; her love for life and people doesn’t allow her to notice if someone doesn’t like her. She isn’t very picky but tends to avoid “i know it all” and big-headed type of people.
Ryota Himaruyo
His character in five words: adaptable, artistic, quiet, honest, untidy
His Quirk: “Livin’ Ink”. His skin secretes ink he uses for drawing is 3D dimension things such as everyday life objects, weapons and animals. If he wants to have a total control over an animal he needs to know its typical behavior and limits. The stains of ink on his skin can’t be washed away: he basically has tattoos.
Likes: Indeed he likes a lot of things, but  few people really care for them because Ryota isn’t the type of guy that shows off his preferences. He adapts pretty well.
He likes animals, especially dinosaurs - and yes, he knows they are all dead thank you very much -, sweet things and watermelons. Drawing is his number one passion and he’s currently trying to do some portraits of his sister and classmates (without them knowing of course). He and Kussan share a passion and they eventually bounded over it: both love Celtic and Viking inspired music. During lunch time Ryota puts on his headphones and takes a nap while his friends eat and chat.
Dislikes: despite being a quiet boy, the silent isn’t his best friend. In fact, he hates when no one around him talks so he tries to break the silent with music or letting things fall on purpose.
He is also scared of the sea - he doesn’t know how to swim for a reason - and storms. Everytime it rains he becomes moody and nervous, like a cat. He is always afraid of passing for the guy who doesn't care about anything and anyone because of his lay down personality: he's just with his head on the clouds it isn't really his fault; when others throw shades about it he prefers isolate himself for a bit and then come back with a grunt on his face.
Short pencils? He hates them. A clean bedroom? What is it?
His family: Ryota’s parents are divorced and he and his sister live with their father. His name is Jean Gannarie and he works at home as a journalist for a french newspaper that has a settlement in Japan. He moved in Japan twenty years ago thanks to his work and he met his future wife during an interview. At that time Kameyo Himaruyo was the right hand of an important stilist; the two got together three months before Kameyo was nominated as her successor. After the birth of their children, whom took Kameyo's surname, she became more and more busy with her career, letting her husband always alone with Ryota and his sister, the little Julienne. Ryota and Julienne didn't have a bond at all with the mother and the parents fought every night. The two eventually divorced and now the mother is one of the most requested stilist in Asia.
His father's quirk allows him to print his thoughts on his and others skin with just a touch. This is very useful to his job and he also uses it to remember his son important events and/or tasks. This is the reason why Ryota's skin is covered in his ink and phrases such as "remember to wash YOUR dishes", "cousins for dinner tonight", "stop drinking orange juice in the shower".
Ryota is really thankful to his father that always took care of him: the two share a peaceful relationship even though he doesn't appreciate Jean's dad jokes.
Julienne is a little demon but he loves her with all his heart. Her quirk is similar to his even though her ink is red. She is learning French from their dad, while Ryota is just incapable.
His relationship in class: he enjoy the company of big groups, even more if they are extra, noisy and with a good sense of humour. He also talks and interact with more shy and conservative people, of course, but you will always find him in silent in the middle of a pillow fight or something. Noises are a good company and a fine background for his thoughts.
He can bond over music and film tastes, as well as midnight snacks because he is that type of person.
People who watch other people up and down freak him out a little.
He and Kussan don't really talk: they share a silent friendship listening to music.
Kunio (Kussan) Musaware
Their character in five words: mysterious, sarcastic, diligent, introverted, tired
Their quirk: the pores of their skin secret a non lethal gas called Diphenylchlorarsine (say it five times). This gas causes sneezing, coughing, headaches, salivation and vomiting. Kussan need to cover their nose if they don't want to fall in their own quirk.
It is a quite dangerous quirk that needs special precautions in order to not harm his classmates; Kussan and Midnight work a lot together.
Likes: being a very awkward kid, Kussan have special interests and their tastes are sometimes questionable. First of all, everything dark and emo contribute to their aesthetic, from clothes to phone's lockscreens. They find black and purple two “neutral” colours.
They often stay up late at night to watch the moon and write poems; this is why they are always tired though, but it's worth it. They are a music and musicians lover - they can become all crazy inside when they see someone famous on TV.
Kussan is a diligent student and in general like to have everything tidy and clean. An hair out of place, a lost sock and ink on their notebook are not tolerated.
Like sweet things, they have a soft spot for children, birds and strawberry shortcake. Sigh a lot without a context.
Dislikes: Kussan don't fit with gender: they don’t believe in the whole thing “male and female”. People are just people; even talking about them as a transgender make them uncomfortable because it is unsaid that they acknowledge the existence of two genders. They get really annoyed when in presence of feminist and misogynist behaviours and tend to snap a little. They don't like to share their feelings because of their introverted nature and trust issues. Kussan also have a hard time every time they don't get the honours they deserve: they work hard in order to stand out, to be respected as a human being and to be just like the others and everytime people cover their attempts is like a knife in the back.
Really bad tastes in fashion.
Their family: Today, Kussan consider as their family just their grandfather, Jun Masaware, a former doctor. They live with him for about six years now, but before they lived with who gave birth to them.
Their parents were two strict politicians. When they had Kunio were so sure that their kid would have become one of them but they were wrong: since they were a kid, Kunio rejected the “boy education” they were given and even the environment around the kid. They wanted to do as they liked without restrictions of sorta. At the age of eleven they came out as non binary and it fucked up parents minds. Kussan eventually went to live with their Grandpa, the only one that truly loved them since the beginning. Kussan's rare smiles are just for their strong and funny old one. Jun easily get along with everyone thanks to his quirk that gives him a charming personality.
Saddest memory: their relationship with their parents was the worst: always fighting, shouting, throwing things over the room. They wanted the perfect puppet and au contrarie they got a rebel and “strange” creature. Kussan was disgusted by their nonsense speeches about how they were useless and disgusting. They fell in a depression state at such young age and sometimes they harmed themselves.
Fortunately those times are gone but the scars remain.
Their relationship in class: Kussan isolate themselves from others in order to not get hurt in the future. They are truly afraid of get affectionate and then get stabbed in the back; their quite and sarcastic nature sure don't help the situation. They hardly stand everyone because their mind refused to open.
Deep inside they are just a lost kid that needs help.
There you finally go the personalities of my OCS! I hope you like them and sorry for the errors!

Diary Entry #1(Prologue)
It’ been awhile since I’ve written something like this but it’ll be fun to start up again. Especially with my current situation, it’s probably in my best interest to keep my thoughts written down. At least to help keep me busy. Now, where do I start? Well the beginning is the obvious answer, right?
I woke up in a room that we now know as the “Anteroom”, oh and when I say ‘we’ I’m talking about the other 18 people who were in the room with me. We quickly discovered that none of us could remember how we got there. Some tried to open the doors while others looked for an alternate way out. I was very confused and only stood around watching a lot of things unfold. What got me going again was a fight that broke out between Petra and Saki (more info on them later on). I tried to help Petra who took a punch to the face and was then distracted by the Cici who woke up with an amazing introduction. I then tried to help figure out the clues that were found hidden around the room. I felt like I was getting something but then a boy, I think his name is Dmitri, was able to figure it out. I’m not exactly sure how he did it but the safe didn’t seem quite happy about it since it sprayed him with ink. Inside the safe was a tablet with a map of the room we are currently in and well that’s it.
So far I’ve only been able to see and interact with a few people but here’s what I’m able to tell so far:
I first talked to Petra (since I went to check up on her). She has a very strong personality for sure. She said many rude things to the others but I’m sure she’s a nice girl, she’s most likely stressed out. She didn’t say anything to me so I’m sure you just have to start off on a good note with her.
Saki was the girl who was fighting with Petra. She also has a strong personality and she just doesn’t take to kindly to those who ridicule others for no reason. But when not upset she seems to be easy going and cheerful. I’ll try talking to her later on.
Takuma was another one who stood out. He was very proactive when it came down to looking for clues. Sadly though it seems many people turned on him after he said some rather controversial comment. I’m not agreeing with his statement but threatening to beat him up about it seemed to be too much. I checked up on him to see if he was ok and by he was very distraught by the whole thing. I’m sure he’s learned his lesson and I hope he starts to feel better.
Runa is very kind and caring. She helped Izaya when they were panicking about being in a room. She’s easy to talk to when we shared a few words during the whole “mystery of the safe” scene. I should try to talk to her again too!
I only had a short talk with Raiden when I asked him to help me with something I had found. Sadly it turned out to be nothing. He was very kind to help me out and I feel so bad for wasting his time.
The same thing for Takeshi, I had asked him for further assistance with the task Raiden and I was working on. I should try to talk to both of them soon. They were very kind for being willing to help me out with my crazy delusions.
And then, of course, there was Seojun, he was the one who found the safe in the first place! I was curious about him and wanted to chat further. I found about his talent and it seems I had the wrong idea about him. He’s like a hero of the online community! I’m glad I got to talk to him.
Leon was someone I saw who was walking from one person to another to help them in their confusion and fear. He’s very kind and always looking out for others. I went to talk to him when I spotted him on his own. We talked about the situation and he comforted me when I also began to panic a little. We started to play a game to help lighten the mood! I feel like a child playing the game but that’s not a really bad thing.
Izaya is very sweet as well. It seems that they are very nervous and fearful so I’m trying to handle them with care. I hope to learn more about them!
Liz is super nice! She’s very captivated by the idea of getting married and when it comes down to love and marriage than I just can’t contain my excitement! I hope she’ll let me plan her wedding when she finds the partner she’ll want to spend her life with!
I talked a bit about Cici before and her grand entrance. She was very cute and I loved her energy! She reminded of my little siblings. I also love her outfit! She’s very interesting and I want to talk to her more!
And as I said before, Dmitri is the one who cracked the code. Other than that I don’t know anything about him. I should thank him properly for opening the safe.
Chiyo is also very cute. She gave a wonderful suggestion when it came down to solving the code for the safe. She seems very timid but nice and I hope I can get to know her more.
Last but not least there’s Ethan. He has a scary job and he knew stuff about me. Which isn’t surprising if you take into account what his talent is and that I do have a few articles about me out there. He’s an interesting fellow and I do hope I can get to know him better.
Well, that’s all I have for the moment. It turns out I talked to more people than I had originally thought. That’s pretty good! Well until next time diary.

Whatever it takes
This is kinda the last one before the whole competition event (I think) so it's more toned down and... relaxing? I don't know.
Also, for those unaware or who don't read the By your side story, I am not a fan of Mineta and it shows. Sorry to any fans, but just... no. Read, review and enjoy~

Chapter 4 Helping
He was exhausted that day, but the smell of pancakes as he entered the house seemed to revive him instantly.
“Welcome home!” Hizashi called, stepping into the hall wearing his yellow apron with headphones painted on them. Shinso bought him that a few years ago as a birthday present and Mic has had it since then. His hair was tied in a long ponytail and the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up. Despite clearly cooking, he looked cleaner than either of the insomniacs.
“Congratulations on finishing your combat training!” the two high-fived and bumped fists as Shota rolled his eyes with a smile and made his way into the kitchen.
“Dad says it’s not really finished, but good enough. Thanks for the tips though!” Hitoshi said with a grin as he sat down in his usual spot. He had tried ignoring the pancakes but his eyes kept slipping to the counter.
“Haha, well, that’s cause for celebration anyway! And I made your favorite!” Yamada proudly spun around, holding a plate of pancakes.
“Honestly, you have too much time on your hands sometimes,” Aizawa sighed but smile none the less as Shinso seemed to want to devour the food.
“Someone has to, right? You’re usually busy with work,” Yamada shrugged and took a seat, but not before grabbing a serving of food for himself and Shota.
“Well, we can finally put that time to good use – he needs a costume,” Eraserhead said with a grin as the kid was almost choking on a bite too big.
“Ah, a hero costume! I remember when we were young and we had to pick our own ones! I recall you just wanted to be in your pajamas.”
The snort from Shinso and the choking sound from Aizawa sent Yamada into a laughing fit as the two tried to catch their breaths and not fall off their chairs.
Quirk training was different from combat, and Shinso wasn’t sure which one was worse. He only had one person to practice on and that was his own father. They had to first test the upper limits of Hitoshi’s Quirk; how strong the impact has to be to break it, is there was a distance limit, how much focus Hitoshi himself needs to maintain…
During those times, especially when he was using his Quirk, Shinso felt sick. He didn’t like it the first time he willingly used his Quirk on his father, and he hated it now. It was the reason this training was working so badly – he wasn’t able to properly focus and concentrate. But he never said that he felt something whispering in his ear as he used his power, that it told him to be stronger and better and telling him he’s in control now.
Today was the start of the last week of training they had and Hitoshi aimed to make the most of it. He’s made a lot of progress, but with only one person to train with, it was hard to tell just how much. He’ll just have trust his father.
He just released his Quirk as he started panting and doubled over on his knees, head low. His body felt a bit numb, but nothing he couldn’t deal with. The headache was pounding in his head, and while it wasn’t unusual, it was worse than normal.
“We’re done for today,” Shota said and Hitoshi looked up in surprise.
“But I can still do more!” he insisted, swallowing to catch his breath.
Aizawa simply walked over and wiped his finger under his nose and across his lips. As he brought the fingers up, the kid saw blood trailing off them. He instinctively reached up himself and felt the warm liquid drip down and could teste it in his mouth.
“You’re at your limit – don’t push it too hard.” He never knew he could actually bleed from overuse, but his father explained it that, much like his Erasure Quirk, Brainwashing can leave physical effects on the user. He’s only bled twice in all the time of training before; the first was an accident because he was pushing himself too much and the second was a test to see his limits. This time, he wasn’t even really aware of it.
“We still have a week… I guess it’s about time we really see what you’re capable of right now,” Shota gave a small grin as he handed his son a towel. “Be ready for company tomorrow.”
He was walking today, unfortunately. His father was called away on hero duty and his uncle was at his podcast, doing a special for his fans- listeners as he insisted. He wasn’t going to complain – it gave him some time and fresh air to cool off. As he was getting his things and getting ready to leave, he heard some shouting to the left of the school. He tried to ignore it, his headache still beating around, but he forced himself to check it out. There shouldn’t even be that many people at school anymore.
“Stay away you creep!” he recognized the voice – it was Yukino Kair. She must have stayed at the library, studying for the English test tomorrow.
“C’mon, just a little smooch!” that voice was familiar, but not one he’s heard much of.
“Damn you, you little shit! Let me out of these sticky balls and I’ll make you regret asking us for help!” and that was Zoey Zedd, sounding as angry as ever. But if she was trapped somehow… That made Shinso quicken his pace as he almost ran to the scene.
“I thought we were friends!” Hitoshi turned the corner and saw his classmates stuck to the wall with purple balls, as a short boy stood in front of them.
“Hey!” Shinso yelled and got the trio’s attention. As soon as the other boy turned around, he recognized him – Minoru Mineta from the Hero Course.
“Shinso!” Yukino smiled with relief, but there was worry in her eyes as well.
“The hell are you doing here this late?” Zoey of course couldn’t care less.
“…” Mineta stayed silent, but his eyes were wide.
“What are you doing?” Hitoshi asked, narrowing his eyes. His fists were already clenched and he was ready for a surprise attack.
“This pervert wanted to have some fun!” Zedd hissed and he could see her skin turning purple in her poison. But it’d only work if she had physically contact with another person.
“We agreed to help him since he asked nice enough…” Kair sounded guilty, but angry none the less.
“H-Hey now-!” Minoru started, but was cut off by the other boy.
“Stop,” at his order, the Hero Course student froze. Shinso looked tense and focused as he bit his lip. It was a bit too fast for him to be using an advance version of his Quirk so soon, but he’d manage.
“Release my friends.” The pervert moved automatically and picked off his sticky balls from the walls and even the girls. All the while, Hitoshi chewed on his lip as the pain in his head increased. For a second there, the world even blurred a bit.
“Now,” he grunted and put a hand under his nose, feeling the blood slowly dripping. “Go home and never bother these girls again.”
As Mineta wordlessly left, Shinso leaned on a wall to catch himself and released his control. He was panting and the world was spinning, but before he lost his balance and fell down, he felt strong pairs of arms hold him up.
“That was so cool Shinso!” Zoey smiled, but the relief in her eyes couldn’t be missed.
“Thanks a lot!” Yukino smiled and gave him a thumbs up.
“Anytime,” he managed weakly, giving his own small smile.
“We should get you to Recovery Girl – I’m sure she’s still working.
“Oh, um, no, you don’t have to-,”
“You can’t walk, you’re bleeding and you looked more exhausted than usual. You’re going to her.”
Hitoshi didn’t have the energy to fight them, so he settled for letting out a humorless chuckle. He hasn’t been at Recovery Girl’s place since his father was in there after the USJ attack. This time, seems like their roles were reversed though.
Chiyo wasn’t happen when they brought in Shinso, and she actually shooed out the girls after assuring he’s going to be fine. Still, she was as kind as always as she checked him over.
“Quirk overuse…” she muttered shaking her head. “Like father like son I guess…”
“He… doesn’t know yet, does he?” Hitoshi asked, a bit fearfully even. He really didn’t want to get his ear chewed off by his father. Maybe his uncle, since Mic usually brought some sweets or something along.
“No, he’s working, so I didn’t call him. Called your homeroom teacher though – she’s still at school and should arrive soon,” Shuzenji said casually as the kid let out a breath of relief.
“I should ask what happened, given the situation and the hour, but…” she turned her back to him, a kind smile on her face. “Heroes will be heroes.”
“Shinso?” Lyla Zin called as she almost ran into the infirmary room, a look of worry and panic on her face.
“Hey,” he said causally, the exhaustion clinging to him. Recovery Girl gave him something for the headache, but it made him all the more tired. Maybe a bit dizzy even.
“Thank goodness, I was worried!” she said, letting out a breath of relief. “What were you doing?” her tone changed quickly though, as she put her hands on her hips.
“…Helping?” he tired, wincing under her tone. She was hardly, if ever, really mad, but seems like this was one of those times.
“Helping? Who? With what? And why did it include your Quirk?” Lyla clearly wasn’t going to let it pass. But her worry was clear and understandable.
“Umm… It’s… a long story,” he settled on and heard the teacher sigh. He really wasn’t sure what to say, if anything at all.
“Honestly…” Zin shook her head and took a seat on a nearby chair. Recovery Girl was back in her own place, working on some paperwork it seems.
“Um, Miss Zin?” Shinso said a bit awkwardly, mentally smacking himself for starting off like that. But he need to tell her, assuming she didn’t know already.
“I don’t know if Aizawa had said anything, but I’m going to try for transfer and-,” before he could fumble over his own words, Lyla put a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“I already know, Hitoshi. He told me, we discussed it all… And we promised we’d wait until you were ready to talk about it,” she was completely calm and her voice calmed him as well.
“…I just don’t know how to tell the others. We all feel the same, but I’m the only one getting this chance? It… doesn’t feel that fair…”
“Hitoshi,” she said and he looked up at her as she smiled. “You are getting this opportunity because you showed promise. And while yes, all of you wish to be in the Hero Course, it’s simply not how it works. But,” she paused and patted his head gently. “I’m sure the whole class is going to support you in this. After all, you’re the star of the General Studies and if you can make it, so can they. You’ll be the Hero for all General Studies students now and to come, I’m sure of it,” she said and leaned closer, giving a small kiss to his forehead as the kid tried to suppress the incoming sobs. Damn, the medicine made him weaker than he thought.
He’s had very few people outside his family stay things like that to him, and after years of being treated as a villain, it always made him so happy. Especially given what his teacher said he might become – a Hero to the General Studies. It sounded so ridiculous, but he couldn’t ask for a better legacy.
Later that day, when it was already dark, Hizashi came to pick him up since he wasn’t allowed to leave on his own. Worried, surprised and slightly impressed, Yamada only lightly probed the boy as to what happened. Hitoshi said what he did before – he was helping. Mic clearly didn’t buy it, but he respected the boy’s insistence on not saying.
“Please, don’t tell dad okay?” Shinso asked, almost begged as they stepped inside the house.
“Tell me what?” Shota stepped into the hall, a frown on his face and arms folded across his chest. His hair was tied in a bun and wore a simple black shirt with pants. Must have been home for a while now.
“Busted,” the two thought, but Yamada casually managed to laugh a moment later.
“Well, I was taking Toshi here out since he’s been doing so well,” Mic shrugged, not even flinching at the narrowed eyes his friend was giving.
“And you didn’t tell me anything?” Aizawa kept looking from one person to the other and kid was nearly cracking.
“Well, you were off and we didn’t feel like bothering you,” Hizashi treaded dangerous waters but he still slung an arm around Eraserhead. “Sorry ‘bout that!”
Shota didn’t look too convinced, but he sighed and closed his eyes none the less. He put his hand on Hizashi’s face and pushed the man off his shoulder before heading into the kitchen and muttered something under his breath, but neither of them heard him. Instead, they let out silent breathes of relief with Hitoshi giving a grateful nod of thanks and Mic simply winking back.
When he finally made it to his room, Shinso plopped down on his bed and let out a satisfied sigh. He was exhausted, but it felt good. This kind of exhaustion showed him he was doing his best and giving his all and that it will work out in the end. But he thought back to what his father said a while ago, about this whole ‘transfer’ thing.
“Depending on how you do in this event, you’ll either replace or simply transfer to a class. Right now you’re set up to get into A-1 but that can still change, so do your best, okay?”
Before today, he was aiming at the simple transfer, but since he’s met Mineta, he wondered what he could to do about him. Could he really risk the replacement option though? What if it’s not Mineta he’d replace, but someone else entirely?
He pondered on that for a while, even changing into his sleeping clothes, when he decided to wait and see what happens. He won’t settle on either just yet, but will keep them in mind for when the competition starts.
And cut! Yeah, this is kinda the last of the 'days of training' thing, so the story will probably pick up now. Also, if anyone is curios about that something Shinso keeps feeling when he uses his Quirk, I made a short post/idea/story o titled Hitoshi vs Shinso  and you can check it out if you fancy. Might kinda spoil something that comes later and that I'm using in the story but well, it's there if anyone's curios =P ANYWAY! Thanks a lot for reading and I do hope you enjoyed! Do review and tell me what you thought! I love hearing from my readers! Till next time~

jc i am so pissed at naruto
like i have at least 3 projects and a bigbang i gotta prep for but i cannot fucking focus cause all i can think about is the WASTED potential of the Sakura v Sasori fight back during the Kazekage fucking retrieval arc. Like it’s no fucking surprise that naruto has/had wasted potential in characters/plot lines, but omg going on the wiki has made me just so??? mad??????? about what a great fight this could have been in terms of character growth especially for fucking sakura. cause that was the one time until the pain arc that she got some sort of relevance, but even then she got side-lined. and like it makes me even more mad is that the main reason she had any emotional ties to that fight was because of motherufucking sasuke, cause “ehhhhhh i guess i care about gara and the mission, but now im fuckin invested because holy shit this guy knows where sasuke might probably be.”
and omygod don’t get me started about the whole chiyo business cause she hated kakashi’s dad for killing her son and her daughter in-law. and she hated him so much for yeas man, years, to the point that she attacked kakahshi because he looked so much like him. but like??? that doesn’t matter in this fight and we only need to know this lil fact cause??? idk it gives a fuck-all detail to their barley-there relationship. Like man kakashi ur dad killed my son and his wife and left my grandson orphaned, and i give a rat’s ass he killed himself. but screw that we gotta go save garra. LIke??? why even say that? why say that if it’s not pertaining to what’s going on?????
and sasori. SASORI, MAN. THE ONE HUMAN THING LEFT ABOUT HIM WAS HIS LINGERING GRIEF OVER HIS PARENTS AND HOW IT WAS ENOUGH FOR HIM TO ADMIT DEFEAT. LIKE HOLY CRAP. YOU COULDA HAD KAKSHI AND SASORI FIGHT. YOU COULDA HAD SASORI GET ENRAGED OVER THE FACT HE’S FIGHTING THE SON OF HIS PARENTS’ KILLER, AND GO ALL OUT AND CRITICALLY WOUND KAKSHI. YOU COULDA HAD SAKURA RUSH IN TO SAVE HER TEACHER BECAUSE FUCK HIS LIFE IS ON THE LINE AND HE WAS THERE FOR HER MORE THAN SASUKE EVER WAS JFC. BUT NOPE, GETTING INFO ON SASUKE IS HIGHER STAKES THAN KAKSHI BEING IN DANGER. i just aggghhhhhhhhh, i hate that this is the one good sakura fight and it’s not even that good, i just ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
like yeah she punches stuff, and it’s cool, it’s so cool to see her do it, and see the years she put into training paying off after the kick-off, but i feel like this really brings it down. and i fuckin love sasori too, i know he’s gotten more developed than some of the other members of the akatsuki coughkakazu but damn it felt like there was a whole lot of cool possibilities that just... didn’t happen
i just i really wanna re-write this fight because it makes me mad and i can’t believe i’m still pissed about this fight 5 years later and it’s diistracting me enough out of this final project hell ahhhhhhhhh

The light from the TV splashed the dark room with light and color, but very little sound played. It was kept low - just barely audible - to make sure the third occupant of the house didn’t wake. In all honesty, Miyuki didn’t even know what was on the screen at the moment. He was just glad to relax with his feet up and Nori laying on his lap.
His fingers ran idly through Nori’s hair. He would have thought the other was sleeping if it wasn’t for the smile that appeared whenever Miyuki’s nails dragged across his scalp. This... was nice, and he wondered if this was how life after baseball would be like everyday. If it was, he could get used to it.
“Why’d you stop?” Nori’s soft words reached his ears. Miyuki hadn’t even realized his fingers had ceased moving.
“Sorry,” he mumbled as his fingers continued their massage, “I was thinking.”
“About what?” Nori rolled onto his back, and Miyuki just gazed down at him.
“Whether life after baseball will always be this nice.” He’d been thinking about retiring not long after Nori had. His body could only take so much more, and his knees were starting to despise him.
Nori chuckled. “It’s horrible.”
“Horrible?” Miyuki asked. He couldn’t have heard right. “But you have so much time to spend with Chiyo.”
“Would it make me a bad father to say that that might actually be part of the problem?” Miyuki simply rose an eyebrow at him and waited for him to continue. “I love being with her after missing so much, but... she’s just too much sometimes.”
Miyuki smirked a bit. “Too much energy for one person to handle?” He snickered a little when Nori rolled his eyes. “It can’t be that bad.”
“Honestly,” Nori sighed, “it really isn’t too bad. The worst part is not being able to get out of all these teacher meetings.”
“Teacher meetings?” He frowned when Nori nodded. “What teacher meetings?”
“To discuss Chiyo’s poor behavior in class,” Nori grumbled. He closed his eyes and rubbed them, trying to soothe a headache that was threatening to form. Miyuki continued to gently massage the other’s scalp in an attempt to help him relax. “I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do.”
Concerned, Miyuki whispered, “What do they say?” Maybe he could come up with some ideas to ease Nori’s worries.
Nori turned on his side, wrapping his arms around Miyuki’s waist. The catcher let his hands rub comfortingly down Nori’s back. “What don’t they say?” Miyuki didn’t like the sound of that. “She can’t sit still in her seat. She talks out of turn. She argues a lot with her classmates and apparently Narumiya’s son is the only one she really gets along with. They have to constantly remind her to do her work...” Nori sighed, looking up at Miyuki sadly. “What do I do?”
Miyuki frowned. He almost always had a solution or strategy to fix something, but parenting was still too confusing for him. Nothing was ever simple, especially when Chiyo was involved. In fact, he could easily see and understand the teacher’s qualms. Even at home, Chiyo had an unbelievable amount of energy, she was stubborn, and she could never sit still or focus for long periods of time. The last two just happened to be rather important for school.
“I don’t know...” He eventually answered Nori. “You could try talking to her?”
“I tried,” Nori groaned, tightening his arms and pulling himself closer to Miyuki. “Multiple times actually, but she’s 9! She doesn’t care!”
“Hey,” he said softly and waited for Nori to look up at him. He could see the turmoil of the situation displayed in his eyes. Miyuki hated what he was about to say, but he honestly thought Nori needed to hear it. “I know you like to be the good guy, but sometimes you just have to put your foot down.” Nori groaned, but Miyuki had a feeling the other knew the words were correct.
Chiyo was beyond precious to Nori. Miyuki knew he’d give her the world if he could. He had no doubt that part of the problem was that Nori spoiled Chiyo a bit, but Chiyo rarely ever heard the word ‘no’ come out of her father’s mouth. He’d seen the girl manipulate her father with ease, and sometimes it made Miyuki cringe.
“She needs rules and boundaries,” Miyuki said, but in all honesty, he was just guessing. It just seemed like it was the right thing to say. “We could work with her on the sitting down and focusing.”
This time Nori looked up at him, eyes hopeful. “You’ll help?”
“Of course!” Miyuki laughed. “What do you take me for? Actually... don’t answer that.” Nori chuckled and the sound of it made Miyuki relax. He’d successfully managed to lighten the mood of the situation.
“Thanks, Kazuya,” Nori said with the smile stretching across his face. “I really appreciate it.”
His fingers carded through Nori’s hair lazily until the latter closed his eyes again. “It’s not a problem. Why don’t we get some sleep? We can worry about how to deal with Chiyo in the morning.”
Humming, Nori sat up with a groan and stretched his body. “Good idea,” Nori said, smiling back at Miyuki. “And as much as I love using you as a pillow, my neck says otherwise.” He stood up from the couch.
A sharp laugh escaped his lips before he could stop it. He followed Nori’s example, stretching as he did so. “I thought you liked my thighs,” he joked.
Nori’s eyes darkened as they roamed over Miyuki’s body. “Oh, I do,” he said, smirking just a bit. “I really do, but your thighs of steel aren’t as comfortable as you would think.”
“Alright, alright,” Miyuki chuckled as he began to pull Nori down the hall. “So basically you just use my body for sex.”
“Really, really good sex,” Nori quipped, making Miyuki shake his head.
“I can’t decide if I’ve been a good influence or a bad one on you.”
He watched a grin stretch across Nori’s face. “If you ask Shirasu and Kuramochi, they’ll say you’ve corrupted me.”
Miyuki smirked. Of course they would say that. “And what would you say?” He asked, closing the door of Nori’s bedroom.
Arms wrapped around his neck and he looked down to see Nori’s heated eyes. “If you asked me, I’d say you were a very, very good influence.”
Grinning, Miyuki leaned down to press a small kiss against Nori’s lips. “That’s what I like to hear.” He managed to get the words out before Nori pulled him to the bed.
Eyes flickering between father and daughter, Miyuki had to resist the urge to run. The whole situation was just so awkward. Nori looked utterly defeated while Chiyo pouted. Nori had tried to reprimand the young girl, but it had backfired and once Chiyo had pouted and complained, Nori had lost all his resolve.
He had told Nori he would help, but Miyuki had expected Nori to at least hold his own in an argument with a nine-year-old. He obviously had overestimated Nori and underestimated Chiyo’s stubbornness. Sighing, Miyuki shifted to the edge of his seat and leaned toward Chiyo. The little girl narrowed her eyes, waiting for him to speak.
“Chiyo,” he began and she turned to look at him more, “your father is just trying to talk to you.” She said nothing. “We’re just concerned about your behavior in school.”
“But why?” Her voice rose a little as she continued. “School is boring! I just want to have some fun! I’m not hurting anyone...”
He made sure to keep his voice calm as he spoke. “We know that, we do,” he said honestly, glancing at Nori, whose eyes were still cast to the ground. Miyuki realized that he was on his own this time. It was a bit unnerving, which was funny seeing he was dealing with a child. “But you have to remember, school is different from home. It can be fun and it can be boring, but there are certain ways you have to behave when at school.”
“But why?” She asked again, and Miyuki could see the frustration in her eyes. “I try, but it’s so hard!”
“What is?” Miyuki asked confused.
“School!” Chiyo shouted, standing up from the couch and stomping her foot. Sometimes her immaturity surprised him, but he tried to keep an open mind with her. “Reading and... and math...” Her lip began to tremble and Miyuki prepared for the waterworks.
“Hey,” he whispered, voice soft. He reached for her and pulled her into a hug. “It’s okay.” He waited until she felt a little relaxed. Nori watched - concern etched in his features. “Why didn’t you tell us about it?” He asked, releasing her from the hug - much to her disappointment.
She rubbed at her eyes, and when she looked up, Miyuki could see the effort she was putting into controlling herself. “I didn’t want to make you sad.”
Sad? Miyuki frowned at that. Did she think he or Nori would be disappointed if she admitted having difficulty in school? “We’d never be upset or sad about that, Chiyo,” he said honestly. This time he gave Nori a look saying: You better say something.
“He’s right,” Nori responded without missing a beat. “You can be honest with us.”
“We’ll help you.” Miyuki offered her a soft smile. “We can work on your school work together, but you do have to try behaving in school too.”
Looking down at her feet, Chiyo pouted but seemed to be taking in what they were telling her. Eventually, she huffed and crossed her arms, but muttered a small ‘okay’ in the process.
“If you try really, really hard to be good in school and the teacher doesn’t have to call your dad, I’ll take you to the stadium to hang out during practice.”
Miyuki watched Chiyo’s eyes brighten at the proposition. “Really?”
“Yes, really.” Miyuki laughed. He turned her in the direction of the doorway and gave her a little nudge. “Now go get your school work and we’ll work on it together.”
“Okay!” She said, running from the room.
“Can you really do that?” Nori asked, but Miyuki looked at him confused. “I mean take her to practice. Don’t you have to get approval first?”
Shrugging, Miyuki leaned back in his chair. “It’ll be fine. The guys love having her around.” Nori leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss to his lips. “What was that for?” Miyuki asked, eyebrow raised.
“For saving me there.”
A grin stretched across his lips. “It was just too painful to watch you be bested by a child.”
Before Nori could retort, Chiyo came back and dumped her things on the floor. “Okay first,” Miyuki said, looking at the mess, “we’re going to work on keeping things cleaner.”
Chiyo looked at her things. “Uncle Kenji said that too.”
“Shirasu did?” Nori asked confused, and Chiyo nodded. “He’s probably right then...” Her papers were all crumpled, and he couldn’t tell what was for what class. “This is going to be a long day...”
“Yes,” Miyuki said, smoothing out a piece of paper, “yes it is...”

Bookshelf Briefs 8/6/18
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Vol. 1 | By Koyoharu Gotouge | Viz Media – Well, that escalated quickly! Tanjiro, an earnest young man helping to support his loving but struggling family, returns home one day to a gruesome scene of blood and death wreaked by demons. One of his sisters survived, though she is now destined to become a demon herself. Desperate to save and protect what remains of his family, Tanjiro turns to the life of a demon slayer. The more I read of Demon Slayer the more I had the feeling that I had encountered parts of the story somewhere else before (except perhaps for Tanjiro’s superior sense of smell). But even so, it was an engaging first volume. Even if a series seems to be relying heavily on well-established tropes and familiar training montages, done well it can still be a great read. Demon Slayer might be one of those manga, but it also has the potential to be more. – Ash Brown
Devilman VS. Hades, Vol. 1 | By Go Nagai and Team Moon | Seven Seas – In addition to being a sequel to Nagai’s original Devilman story, Devilman VS. Hades is a crossover with the Mazinger franchise. To some extent, Devilman VS. Hades can be read as a standalone work—the most critical information needed to follow what’s going on is included within the series itself—but some basic familiarity with Devilman and/or Mazinger doesn’t hurt. (Fortunately, several incarnations of both franchises are readily available in English.) In Devilman VS. Hades, Devilman has literally fought his way through Hell to free the souls of those he holds most dear, unleashing a horrifying new apocalypse in the process. Devilman, Akira Fudo in his human form, must now face enemies old and new while navigating the grotesque and hellish landscape. Devilman VS. Hades is only three volumes long so the first understandably moves along at a fairly quick pace, but at the same time it can seem bizarrely unfocused. – Ash Brown
Dreamin’ Sun, Vol. 7 | By Ichigo Takano | Seven Seas – So, yeah, the prodigal lawyer dating the high school girl was never going to be a popular decision, and when you throw in the house basically being used as a dormitory for troubled souls, it’s not hard to see why Fujiwara’s father has decided to come in and bust it all up, since Shimana did not listen to his wise counsel an go away forever. That said, he’s an obstacle rather than a dad, and so we’re not thinking about how to appeal to his better nature, but how to surmount him. As for Shimana and Fujiwara, well, if nothing else his emotions are getting more immature when he’s with her—which may not be a bad thing. This is no orange, but it’s still good enough to keep reading. – Sean Gaffney
Dreamin’ Sun, Vol. 7 | By Ichigo Takano | Seven Seas – I can’t make up my mind whether I want Shimane and Fujiwara to succeed as a couple or not. Complicating this is the fact that neither of them can seemingly make up their minds, either. It’s totally reasonable that there’d be a lot of fluctuation and vacillation in a teen romance, but coupled with the swift pacing of this series, I just end up with a serious case of shoujo whiplash. As it stands, Fujiwara’s father seems determined to split them up, and Fujiwara is attempting to fall for Shimane and is sure that he will, given time. Meanwhile, I thought it was kind of interesting to see why Fujiwara’s friend, Miura, might’ve agreed to interfere on Fujiwara’s father’s behalf. I don’t really believe the series will end with Shimane heartbroken, but I’m not convinced this relationship will bring her happiness, either. We shall see. – Michelle Smith
Durarara!! re: Dollars Arc, Vol. 2 | By Ryohgo Narita, Suzuhito Yasuda, and Aogiri | Yen Press – I will note the biggest disappointment in this volume right off the bat: because it’s compressing events so much, it cut the bit with Shizuo using a car as cover by kicking it along in front of him, a highlight of the anime. Other than that, this is a decent adaptation, though I think I’d give the anime adaptation the higher marks. I did like seeing how just because the runaway Akane has been “retrieved” by her father does not mean that the problem is solved—Narita is good at showing that childhood trauma can stay with you forever and is not easily fixed. Especially in DRRR!!, where everyone is sort of broken. This moved way too fast, but is otherwise good. – Sean Gaffney
Fate/Zero, Vol. 6 | By Gen Urobuchi, Type-Moon, and Shinjiro | Dark Horse – I’m not sure why we had a year’s delay between the last volume of Fate/Zero and this one, but I’m glad we’re back with it, even if it continues to be a very bleak war. That said, nothing is too depressing as long as Alexander the Great is in it, and going from the discovery and destruction of the room filled with dead and tortured children to a three-way drinking discussion between him, Saber and Gilgamesh is mood dissonance of the finest kind. It was an excellent discussion, and reminds readers who are familiar with the original Fate series just how messed up Saber’s vision really is. As for the cliffhanger, will Tokiomi actually do something? GASP! Not for the squeamish, but excellent. – Sean Gaffney
Kiss Me at the Stroke of Midnight, Vol. 6 | By Rin Mikimoto | Kodansha Comics – This is a relatively serious volume of KMatSoM, which means we get very few SD-faces and no discussions of butts. It makes sense, given we’re up against some things that could spell trouble for this burgeoning relationship. No, not Shu; she’s taken care of fairly quickly by the classic shoujo tradition of the heroine just being far too nice and sweet to be horrible to. No, the main issue is Funny Bone and their past with Kaede, and the apparently death of someone in Kaede’s past—which he starts to tell Hinana about as we close this book out. I expect we may be entering whole volume flashback territory next time, but we’ll see how it goes. Does this mean no butts in volume seven either? – Sean Gaffney
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Vol. 31 | By Shinobu Ohtaka | Viz Media – To no one’s surprise, Alibaba’s financial renaissance is running into serious trouble after a strong start, as Sinbad is not about to let him get the Kou Empire back to its former strength. Alibaba can try to avoid the rumors and come up with new and more fascinating items, but it’s more interesting seeing him meeting up with old friends, some of whom have gotten married and had children. Of course, the two most important friends of his have been missing for a while… and we finally catch up with them, and see that Aladdin has finally grown up all the way. He’s got his hands full trying to deal with Arba and her ability to possess people and take them over. Will we finally see them reunite next book? Signs point to yes. – Sean Gaffney
Murcielago, Vol. 7 | By Yoshimurakana | Yen Press – We’re taking a break from serial killers to deal with terrorist organizations long thought dead, but the output is the same—lots of gore, lots of dead people, this time mostly in the Diet and the police, along with a few innocent bystanders. Kuroko is trying to deal with this, but she’s a bit upset—yes, it looks like she’s actually worried—that Chiyo is finally moving on from her. She’s probably right to worry, and I’d say she should try to better herself except this is Murcielago. The main reason to read this series remains the gratuitous violence and the action sequences, and yes, there’s also a sex scene near the end, featuring Kuroko and the girl from the very first volume’s extra chapter stealing an escort girl and having their way with her. Sleazy and it wears it proudly. – Sean Gaffney
My Hero Academia, Vol. 14 | By Kohei Horikoshi | Viz Media – I really like how Bakugo’s rage issues are shown to be a major issue that he needs to resolve, but they’re also not something that makes him a villain or means he can’t have hopes and dreams. He gets frustrated at Izuku’s drive as much as Izuku was chasing after his strength, and so the two are now even more “fated rivals.” They’re also given confinement for a few days, meaning, oh no, Izuku is behind in classwork. He also gets introduced to a few third years, whose powers are fun and also strong, and the school explains that due to the villains growing in power (indeed, we meet the next Big Bad here as well), it’s time for internships! Can Midoriya and his still-learning quirk make the grade and get him work?. – Sean Gaffney
Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, Vol. 2 | By Kagiji Kumanomata | Viz Media – I continue to be quite entertained by this series, though its lack of any real plot or characterization makes it a bit harder to review. The reader needs to accept that the Princess’ various antics to get a good night’s sleep are going to verge on the cruel and awful every single time, but given that most of the demons that she abuses for their functions can resurrect, it’s clearly meant for humor. We branch out a bit from pure sleep this time, as she enters an athletic competition (being in shape leads to better sleep) and suffers from—horror of horrors—dry skin! I shudder to imagine anyone taking this seriously, but as a giant goofy “what horrors will she commit next” series, it’s fantastic. – Sean Gaffney
