So, this parallel, right.

That parallel and the 4x11 shadowpeach fight as a whole:

Macaque: "No that's YOU! You're the one always running off! Looking for more power, more sources of immortality—you're the one who wouldn't quit while were were ahead! Not the great sage, he's got to drag EVERYONE else into his mess!" Sun Wukong: "You're not in this mess, you're still free! Everything I did was for us!" Macaque: "You did it for yourself! You've become like this, obsessive demon! I told you going against the Jade Emperor was a bad idea, but no, Wukong doesn't listen to anyone! He just does whatever he wants! You put yourself here, not me."

(4x11 A Lifetime of Mistakes)

A large part of Wukong's motivation to keep getting more power was the freedom of it—the more power you have the easier it is to do whatever you want. It's easier to ignore everyone else and focus solely on yourself. It's also easier to ensure yourself and your loved one's are protected and have the ability to do what they want.

So, a punishment where the great Monkey King is imprisoned and trapped for hundreds of years? It's effective and tragic and fitting. Wukong wanted to have the freedom to protect the people he cared about, and in trying to reach for the power to do that, he completely had his freedom removed. He went from the mountain, to then the circlet, and then all of a sudden he had morals and was bound to those.

And then I think about his end of s3 choice to go face the Lady Bone Demon alone. Once again Wukong was trying to protect his loved ones (not to mention the whole reason he went after the Samadhi fire to begin with was to have the power, the freedom to stop LBD (which in itself is another case of SWK believing he needed to be stronger for such freedom)), but he also wanted to make sure MK and himself both had agency. He didn't want MK to have to fight LBD, and he didn't want LBD to end the world.

This is exactly the sentiment he tells Macaque in the 4x11 flashback:

Sun Wukong: "It's so we don't have to worry about anything or anyone ever again! Just living a lazy life, sitting in the sun, eatin' fruit, and doing whatever we want!"

But where does it all lead him?

To possession, imprisonment. Once again Wukong no longer had the freedom to do what he wanted (which is to protect the people he cares about). Once again in his attempts to help his loved one's, he only hurt them.

This can be applied to his relationship with Macaque, to MK in s2, hell, even Wukong trying to get the map in the first place left him powerless, which then led to him and the gang being imprisoned in 3x02. It's a familiar pattern, one we see with antagonist and protagonist alike.

MK in s2 trained to become more powerful, which in the end only strengthened LBD and forced him and his friends on the run. Mei in 3x12 protects MK by letting herself get captured and placed into LBD's crystal. Mei in 4x05 goes to protect MK, breaking her sword and leaving her vulnerable to being captured by Kui Mulang ("How am I supposed to protect everyone without my sword?"). DBK reached for more power and then became possessed by LBD, hurting his wife and son. Azure reached for the Jade Emperor's power and bound himself to that role, jeopardizing Peng and Yellowtusk in the process.

It's a cycle of reaching for power, endangering others, and then being imprisoned.

So anyways, here's why MK is going to lose control (his agency) next season and hurt his friends with his own- *get's shot*

its been a million years. percy has gone from young millenial to squarely gen z. i think that while he’s up on that mountain demanding the gods pay their fucking child support, he should tell hera at the top of his sixteen year old pipsqueak lungs that polyamory is a thing now and she doesn’t have to define her marriage the traditional way if she doesn’t want to. she’s the goddess of all marriages! that includes these modern ones too!!

hera is like zeus would you agree to an open relationship zeus is like SOLD i have been trying to do this for years, completely neglects to read the fine print that this goes two ways before signing on the dotted line for this deal with the prada wearing devil because fundamentally, zeus is an asshole

hera starts hooking up with committed married couples and having SUPREMELY powerful demigod children. they are all her favorites and she lavishes them with powers and gifts and attention. she has, unlike the other gods, no millenia of experience with mortal children to temper her reaction, and so this whole move honestly causes more problems than not.

meanwhile hades and persephone; poeseidon and amphirite; dionysus and ariadne; all of them have been trying to talk to hera about this thing for DECADES and then perseus fucking protagonist powers jackson comes in and turns a quarter of a century into wasted work.

Nico who has been deified after his death. Nico who's sure, after all this time, he's finally managed to let go of his older sister's death, of course, it still hurts, and of course, he will never forget her, but that fiery hatred and overtaking sadness, has finally been put to rest.

Nico knows and understands that his sister chose to move on without him, and that's okay, no it's never gonna be okay but he's made his peace with that too, and now, that he's an inmortal himself he never expects to see Bianca again.

Nico lives easy. He works for his father, he sleeps for a couple decades at a time, sometimes he goes back to Camp, takes care of some kids during their quests here and there, but for the most part, he's a chain-free roaming God.

And then, one day at Camp Nico meets her, a tiny little girl, with how long he has lived, time has become almost impossible for Nico to really track down anymore, but he's sure this girl can't be more than 10.

And something about her eyes, her dark, void-like eyes, and her long black hair, and her proud stance. It really reminds him of somebody else.

The girl is all alone, no little brother or older sister of her own, no parents either, apparently, she's a child of Hekate, but that really doesn't matter.

Something about the girl's every move, about the way she approaches the darkness without fear, about the way she approaches him, like she's known him all his life, the way she uses her whole body when talking.

It reminds Nico of Bianca. This girl's soul is just like Bianca's.

And Nico supposes it's no longer a fatal flaw, but he still doesn't know how to let go.

Nico immediately claims her on the spot, lets her sleep on the Hades Cabin, helps her out with everything, takes care of her for years and years.

It's the first time in centuries, that Nico as a God feels connected to his mortal side.

When the little girl cuddles against him, because she's had yet another nightmare about manticores and huge robots, while Nico quietly tries to hug her, and reassure her she's going to be fine, he even starts thinking that maybe his family has grown, yet again.

And then, she's send off on a Quest, Nico loudly protests against it, because he knows how those end.

Because, he still remembers waking up screaming and trashing, in the middle of the night, inside the Hermes Cabin, surrounded by strangers and shadows, as he felt Bianca's soul perish away.

But it's no use, the Oracle of her time had already issued her prophecy, this new girl, Rachel having long since passed away, who Nico feels almost comfortable cursing in the spot, just like his father had done so many centuries ago.

The little girl leaves, and Nico now has nobody to swear to keep her protected. Nico knows it's useless to try to convince her to stay, but he still does, it doesn't work, it never has worked

But truth is, she doesn't even look scared.

She's excited, and ready, and determined, and Nico has to wonder if this is how Bianca looked like, during her last week on Earth, too.

The girl leaves and she doesn't come back.

Nico thinks, it should be easier by now. It isn't, it's never gonna be it

Hades catches Nico roaming mindlessly around Elysium, after noticing his absence from The House, for what's either days, or years.

Hades mournfully reassures Nico that Bianca is not there anymore. No, not this time, not last time, not next time either.

After that, Nico chooses to abandon Camp fully, once again, he doesn't come back for another few centuries, until Hermes asks him for help getting his children to satefy at Camp.

Nico swallows the bile, that he's sure a Godly body like his own, shouldn't be able to produce anymore, shakes Hermes's hands, and tells his cousin his children will make it through, just fine.

Nico rescues the kids, regretfully send them off to live all cramped up together at their Father's Cabin forever, but one of the boys of the bunch, just has such dark eyes, like a black hole consuming souls.

And he stands so proud, and Nico just knows once more, and all at once, because he would recognize Bianca's soul anywhere.

In life, in death, at the end of the world, in a Hekate's daughter, in an Hermes's son, it doesn't matter, the person standing in front of him, is simply Bianca in another skin.

Bianca, being a wild hero once more, and Nico has to wonder if she can see him as clearly as he can see her.

Bianca is the only one after all, who has known him all his life, Bianca knew his name before it was even his own. Nico was born knowing her.

If she can see him, or if she can't, Nico doesn't even know which one would hurt more.

Time passes, and if Nico let's the boy sleep at the Hades Cabin, because the nightmares about manticores, giant robots, and magic are too much to bear, and he can't even scream in peace inside the Hermes Cabin, well, that's only Nico's own business to know about.

Nico realizes, after a few ages of Godhood, that The Fates like repeating their own stories.

Nico knows he hates all of them, deeply and purposefully.

The Oracle comes up to the boy, Nico is sure she must be a new girl, but all the girls Apollo chooses all look the same, and she is the same, she gives the hero the prophecy that will bury him.

And, it doesn't even take Nico a glance to know, that this is where that boy's life thread is cut.

Nico wants to sneer, this would be Bianca's third death, and if a hero dies three times they get the special prize, and yet.

Nico begs the boy to not go, because they both know he's not gonna make it back.

Bianca never has. Bianca never does. This is Bianca's fate. She was already dead before the story even began.

But the boy doesn't even break eye contact with Nico, as he tells Nico that he's very kind, and that he loves him too, but no way.

He's gonna go, and so, the boy does.

The boy leaves and he doesn't come back, and Nico has to crawl at his Godly skin, and remember the sensations, of back when there was human flesh, and blood running through his veins.

And that's just the thing isn't it, that Bianca is never going to stay by his side, because she doesn't want to.

Even if Kristen needed to hear what Tracker said, harassing the girl you dumped MONTHS AGO to see if she'll be okay with you posting your new girlfriend is wild energy???? And then to blow up because she wasn't what? Excited to endorse your cool new girlfriend reveal?? Not, let's be clear, that Kristen said no. In fact she distinctly reminded Tracker that this shit wasn't even necessary. She admitted that she wasn't in the headspace to be happy about it but it ultimately wasn't about her. It's the most mature thing Kristen has said potentially EVER.

Like, I cannot for the life of me figure out how Kristen saying "Hey, do what you want, it's truly not my business or main concern right now" in any way segued into Tracker listing off a bunch of Kristen's flaws and mistakes.

"Kristen needs some tough love!" Maybe not from a person who hasn't even been in the loop for the last several months? Maybe not from her ex who called for completely unrelated, selfish reasons?

I understand why everyone who read dunmeshi instantly shipped marci and falin but tbh the fact that it's just treated as canon by the fandom cuts on a lot of interesting analysis that could be done on their relationship outside of the romantic reading, which is kind of a shame

#when i read through i spent a lot of time trying to understand if marci saw her as an equal or as a younger friend she had to take care of #this started from her comment about how 29yo is “a child” and falin is younger than that #and then the scene in the bathroom which is very loved by the shippers #it felt a lot like falin understood the implications and marci didn't yk #i read that and it just felt like they were failing to communicate bc marci just couldn't see falins body as something she should be #embarrassed about #very mom with a child behaviour #same in the bed falin mentioned growing up and marci said it was just the same #doesn't it imply she still sees her as a kid?#there's that time in the backstory of when she first met laios and how she treats falin like a kid who can't make her own choices too #like she tells laios off for taking her away and then tells her she'll take her back to the academy like falin isn't #perfectly able to choose for herself #extremely “mom knows best” of her??#there's a lot of moments like that #then there's also everything that could be said about falin being marcis first friend and what it means for her to die #like...if you just call it romance it goes to undermine a bigger issue in marci's character imo?#like marci went to those lengths just cause she's in love with her but i think the point is that this was yet another person she lost before #she was ready to let her go? her character arc culminates in her accepting that falin might just be dead after all #and even with the possibility of falin being reborn she was ready to be taken away by the elves and never see her again #this is incredible growth for her but it only makes sense if falin was just one of many friends this could have happened with #and not the love of her life? I'd assume she would want to spend the rest of falins life with her if that was the case #whether or not she got over her fear of everyone dying before her #it's a thought! i think it's interesting to think about!#it's fun to ship them so I'm not saying we shouldn't or whatever but not treating it as canon now and again would open #to so many possibilities #for example I can't get out of my brain the scenario in which falin is in love with her and marci just can't see it until it's too late #kind of like himmel and frieren? think of the angst!! all lost because we just assume they're canon......tragic

Poll's over, the right answer was The Sword in the Stone :D But Lilo&Stitch is a close second, I absolutely loved it as a child and I still do! Lilo is one of the few female characters I ever related to in my childhood and I still believe she's a great example of an amazingly written little girl character. I also really like Robin Hood, The Jungle Book and Alice in Wonderland. Zootopia is possibly my favorite 3D-era Disney movie although in general I no longer enjoy Disney productions much. Inside Out has a very nice concept and I liked some of the jokes and teary moments, but overall I can't say I adored it.

Pinocchio is a personal pet peeve of mine and I dislike it a lot, not even having watched it in my childhood makes me have nostalgia for it// Frozen, welp, I find it very boring, I couldn't even watch it to the end, I'm sorry.

As for Sleeping Beauty, I love its aesthetic but I'm true neutral when it comes to the story itself.

#arguably I haven't watched many recent animated movies #and by that I mean that I have watched very little from Frozen onwards #yes it has been a while lol #never been head over heels for Disney stuff even as a kid but yeah #anyways Sword in the Stone is SO UNDERRATED isn't it? also i know this is a hot take but it’s constantly on my mind whenever i read atla discourse. katara does not start out the series emotionally mature. katara starts out the series parentified and traumatized so that she has learned to replicate the behavior of an adult caretaker as closely as she, a child who is NOT an adult, can. there is a very very large distinction between these two things and without realizing that katara is acting from a space of trauma and playing a relatively rigid and simplistic role as a means of coping, you are imo pretty significantly misreading her character and her situation

#she definitely does mature over the course of the series and by the end of the series she's in a much different place #but it drives me up the wall seeing people say katara is the mature one of the group. she literally never has been.#katara is very responsible and very nurturing. those are not the same things as being emotionally mature and having grown into oneself #and there are so so so many instances where it's very clear katara is still a kid.#i think there's even a pretty substantial time in the show where she actually lags behind sokka developmentally #bc he matures pretty quickly and dramatically over the course of season 1 while katara's journey is a lot slower #by the way im Not saying that katara's care for her friends isnt genuine im not saying they dont benefit from her nurturing #and im definitely not saying she's incapable of genuinely acting mature.#what im saying is that you cannot just take these characters at face value &it's important to understand that they all have a lot going on #and i think katara is one of the most misunderstood potentially because people simply don't realize what parentification looks like #and exactly how harmful it is to the child #or how to notice the difference between someone operating in the role of an adult vs someone who genuinely is an adult emotionally #also btw im sorry if the language in this sounds inflammatory i really don't mean it to be. but sometimes atla fandom... is wrong abt things #it's honestly a little hard for me to understand how so many people miss this about her character bc #it's such a huge foundational element to how she behaves basically at all times 😐#but idk #anyway for reference see sokka literally explaining kataras parentification to toph in the runaway #and being able to express her emotional state and general headspace much more clearly than katara herself can #atla

just wanna ramble about this for a moment but, my late grandmother had some seemingly jewish customs and im having a hard time figuring out why. if she had jewish ancestry, i wanna know (especially if she was practicing crypto-judaism). hopefully one day i get an answer..

#she did something similar to sitting shiva when my great grandmother died #all the chairs were either up on the tables or in the garage #the couches were covered #so were the paintings and mirrors #the only seats were stools in the kitchen #i asked her why the house was like that and she said it was becauser her mom died and itd be back to normal in a week #then asked me if that answered my question. i was just a kid so it sufficed.#but now i wished id asked her more #she also took care to tell my sister and i about how she'd tie red strings to her childrens cribs #to protect them from evil #and she'd leave stones at her baby's grave #now we leave stones at both their graves #if she had jewish ancestry theres probably more that i dont know about #shrug #julian rants #judaism #jewish #i hope its ok for me to use those tags #if anyone has advice on how to find out it'd help
