with forsaken and kaldorei heritage sets announced i am just gonna ✨shamelessly✨ plug my draenei heritage armor concept i did in 2021 because im yearning for more space goat content
my goal was to marry their nomadic and old eredar/vindicator aesthetic that would resurge every time they settled down for a long period of time. i thought going with strictly either would do them a disservice, as both are essential to them.
heres hoping they do them justice and that they are next in line for heritage sets!!

Vindication
Duty, justice, vengeance - three things that have been fully guiding Vindicator Victoria's path for the past two decades. Only after becoming an envoy to the Brigade and joining the ranks years later has, Victoria found out that life holds more than these three words. Nowadays her main focus turned from dispensing justice in the field to training a new generation of Vindicators, recruited both among her own people and other promising recruits straight from the Brigade academy.
We have already met the formidable Vindocator Victoria, it has been a couple of years and her insatiable drive for vengeance has been quelled. She has found solace in company of others and have reconciled some of the ghosts of the past that have been haunting her since the Fall of Shattrath. Let us hope that her healing process continues and the trainees under her guidance become as formidable as herself!  I have finished this piece some time ago, while experimenting with the stained glass style. I think this was one of the first painted hybrid pieces too! I've since shifted the style towards more unified linework and more subtle painting with fewer facets. I hope you like how it turned out.

Was looking through Outland factions and only really just noticed that the Sha'tari Skyguard is the only Shattrath faction with many members that aren't Draenei or Blood Elves. This is barring Lower City which I'm not counting as it's not a military faction, but Shattrath's citizens and refugees.
I kind of wonder why that is? My guess is they found it easier as the Skyguard had less of an 'identity' to maintain compared to the other Shattrath factions. I get it with the Aldor and Scryers, but the Sha'tar itself and the Shattered Sun Offensive seem like they could have had more variety. Either way I do like seeing 'non-Outlanders' helping out. I like to think a number of them were or have some connection to the Sons of Lothar. Oddly, the only Horde connected race involved other than Blood Elves is Jungle Trolls. The only exception to this I found was one Orc, Grella the quartermaster.

What's your tragic/interesting backstory plotline that you never get to talk about IC/OOC?
Mine is that my draenei was in a happily married thruple with her two childhood friends, and their beloved daughter that they shared, who died in Karabor and Shattrath respectively.
She now dedicates her life to creating a world where her family could have flourished. :'(

Guild Portraits: Soljin. One of my oldest friends. We went to the same Best Buy to get the Vanilla CE the day it came out, but at different times, and were both told we got the last one. The mystery remains unsolved. Terrokar Forest, April 19, 2008.

A Stupid Guide To Unlocking Zones On Alts
For stupid people like me, who like to be a weird little completionist
Note: This is for !!ALTS!! and assuming you've already done all this content on at least one character. WoWhead has decent guides on how to unlock zones for the first time, but not much on how to do so on alts and skip as much work as possible
Classic: There are no zones that require unlocks from Classic. There are some that get reused in new phases, but those will be stated in the expansion their new phase got added
TBC: Isle of Quel'danas has the Sunwell raid and Magister's Terrace dungeon. Should be by default unlocked on all characters, you get there via a portal in the middle Shattrath building
WOTLK: There are no zones that require unlocks from WOTLK
Cata: Molten Front has to be manually unlocked on any character you want to do it on, but it's mostly achievements, so I personally don't see the need to do it on alts. You access it via a questline in Hyjal, and a portal to get to the zone is in the southwestern part of Hyjal, near Malorne's shrine. All other Cata zones should be default unlocked on all characters
MOP: Isle of Giants and Timeless Isle both should be unlocked by default on all characters. You can just take a flightpath to both places or fly there manually. Isle of Thunder, however, requires a short questline to get onto the island. This should start at the portal to get there in Townlong, by the Shado-pan Garrison
WOD: Your garrison requires a short questline to set up and a bit of time to build it into anything worthwhile. If you use the hearthstone, it'll teleport you to the empty plot of land where your garrison would be. Just go towards where your dock is eventually built, and start the questline. Tanaan should be by default unlocked on all characters, though I haven't checked if you still need to do the questline to build the base in order to use the portal back and forth from Ashran (I usually just fly around Draenor and hit Tanaan that way)
Legion: When you first use the Dalaran hearthstone, you need to walk a few steps into the city until you get an NPC pop up with your class questline. I've forgotten if you go to your class hall first, then do your weapon, or if it's weapon then class hall. Either way, you need to do the first weapon in order to unlock the rest of the setting up of your class hall. Unlock your WQs at Khadgar in the tower, Suramar phases in once you save Thalyssra (also from Khadgar). Argus teleporter should be unlocked by default on all characters, though the Broken Shore you might need to just talk with Khadgar at Krasus' Landing and skip the instance in order to set up the camp there
BFA: Ugh. Now the messy expansions with not enough skips and way too many unlocks. Make sure you get your Heart of Azeroth from Magni. Nazjatar should be a relatively quick questline from the docks area. Mechagon will appear from disgruntled workers in the main city. Unlocking your WQs should be from I think the docks as well - if not, you need to set up at least one camp in the enemy zones to unlock the mission table and upgrades. I had to go to the zone select map, click one, and then not continue it in order to do anything with the ship. You should probably do the questline for Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Uldum since it gives you the legendary cloak you need in order to do the last boss of Ny'alotha. Unfortunately this is a LONG questline, like at least a few hours worth. There's not really any skips for this which I think is just the worst. I tend to stop once I just get the cloak, but you can keep going in order to unlock the visions. Almost forgot battlefront zones (Darkshore and Arathi) which should be unlocked by default on all characters. I just stepped into the portal and didn't need to do anything else
SL: Oh boy! More content with not enough skips! To unlock your covenant, you have to just choose it in Oribos and do the whole. dang. campaign. All of it. You can skip your renown grind with the vendor next to the Oribos flightmaster, but that's really the only thing somewhat useful. Otherwise you're just funneling anima to whoever's next on the list to do stuff with it and unlocking things little by little while earning the tmog. The Maw you get sent to during your covenant campaign, very early on, but the covenant invasions to the zone seem tied to Korthia's unlock. If you hate Torghast, there's no skips for the tutorials there and it's part of the covenant campaign. You may be alarmed at the Eye of the Jailer and no mounts! These things unlock with Korthia. Korthia seems to unlock via the campaign, too, after the Torghast, Maw, Runecarving tutorials. You still have to do the questline to get the lodestaff and the guy to come to the cave if you want to earn rep there, though. This should start with just looting any treasure or rare. Zereth Mortis unlocks with a skip on dialogue with Bolvar pretty early in the campaign, like around the time you select a covenant
Dragonflight: Since DF is current, all of the unlocks are just via talking to and using dialogue skips in Valdrakken when you hit cap level. I just hop up to the Seat of the Aspects, talk to Alexstrasza, kill the rebels in the city but drop it after that point, skips for Forbidden Reach are also at the top of Seat of the Aspects, after that you can go down to Zaralek with Sabellian and Wrathion but drop it when Loamm is opened, talk to Shandris to get the Emerald Dream quest and use the item she gives you as a skip. You still have to do the part where you go through the portal in Ohn'ahran Plains and then talk on the other side, but can drop after that (The reason for that is that despite the Emerald Dream portal automatically by default open for alts, the weekly quest doesn't count them as allowed to finish until you've done that one step of the questline. It's dumb)

@daily-writing-challenge Words: Overcome/Blind Day: 3
Caythaes hadn't performed at Wings and Metal - they hadn't even performed for Fire Fest - yet already they were making plans for the Tournament of Ages. Why not? It wasn't as if they weren't already making plans for it; they'd floated the idea past Leon months ago, almost as soon as the World's Faire had ended. The desire to perform on a larger stage was not something new the corruption had planted in them…
…But as Caythaes gathered up their costumes and got ready for practice with Anzhin, they couldn't help but think about the themes and lyrics in their upcoming performances. About the themes and lyrics of their past performances as well. True, they'd always had religious and anti-Light undertones, but now…
See how you drape yourself in my regalia, the voice cooed as Caythaes brushed their fingers over their favorite red suit. They'd gotten cufflinks made of the black sun and upside-down symbol of Light made, and the symbol adorned the corset they liked to wear with it.
See how you cover your body in my symbol, it purred as Caythaes caught a glimpse of the red suns tattooed upon their chest.
"These are for Belore," Caythaes murmured, resting their hand over their heart so that their splayed fingers touched the tattoos.
Even the Sun can go dark, the voice countered, its tone light and teasing. Do you not call yourself the Solar Eclipse? My dearest Devoted One, how you wound me...
"I get your point. You're so sharp," Caythaes sang to themself as they took flight toward Shattrath. "Getting good reactions with your evil talk."
I understand all…  "I see no-"
Destructive urges… "I see no-"
It seems so perfect… "I see no-"
I see-
"I see no evil!" Caythaes shouted as they rocketed towards the ground outside Wings and Metal. The fire of their phoenix form blazed like a comet through the sky, churning up dirt and rock as they collided with the earth and skidded to a stop.
"Caythaes?" Anzhin poked his head out of the bar, dressed in his ghoul uniform and worriedly cocking his head at them. "Are you alright?"
Scowling at themself, Caythas dusted the dirt from the otherwise pristine priest robe they wore and shook their head. A moment later, they sighed and pulled their hair loose from its tie, running their fingers through the faintly glowing dark purple and orange strands. Once they were satisfied that they'd tamed any wild strands, they pulled it back into a ponytail, making sure to catch the lone tendril budding from behind their ear and tucking it out of sight. "I'm fine, I just…"
"Haven't slept well," they professed, giving Anzhin a tired but still reassuring smile. It wasn't a lie; ever since the whispers first started, Caythaes had slept fitfully, plagued by dreams of stardom and success. Perhaps in another context, Caythaes would have welcomed such visions, but normally they didn't dream at all. Squishy, the little voidbeast they'd adopted during N'Zoth's attempt to claim Azeroth, ate their normal dreams, leaving only those that were divinely induced.
"If you were a prophet…"
"I'm fine," Caythaes repeated tiredly, reaching up to cup Anzhin's cheek in their hand; he had his own share of burdens weighing him down. Caythaes didn't want to add their problems to the pile. "I promise. Don't worry. Everything is okay. I'll go to bed early tonight and everything."
"If you want company…" Anzhin began to offer, removing his helmet so that he could lean into Caythaes's touch, raising his hand to hold theirs in place against his cheek.
"No. No, it's fine," Caythaes demurred, shaking their head as they drew back and slipped past Anzhin into Wings and Metal. "Really. I've just been having trouble sleeping again. You know how it is."
"I do," Anzhin agreed, resting a hand on Caythaes's lower back as he ushered them inside, his expression still worried, but fond as they neared the stage. "And I know how you push yourself, my dear firebird. Please take care of yourself. For me."
"I will, I promise. I just can't wait to be on stage again."

DWC May 2023 - Day 2 - Divine/Tragedy - Khaeris
Tumblr media
There were plants everywhere and Khaeris appreciated it. She spent time loitering by the decorative planters dotted through the city, taking in the wide variety of lush botanicals. Zuldazar still showed some scars from the Fourth War, but the city wore them well and knew how to compensate.
Little shrines to a variety of loa had flowers laid in offering, coins gathered in bowls, and incense rose through the air. If there was a city more steeped in ‘divine’, Khaeris had never been there. Stormwind might have her Cathedral, and Shattrath her Naaru, but it was Zuldazar where every corner had its god and worship in all forms threaded through everyday life.
She was staying with Ahuatli for the time being, enjoying guesting at her friend’s estate and immersing herself in her friend’s life. Khaeris knew she could lose days and days with the gardens and markets. She picked up trinkets, and even a little ‘trash’--depositing them at the shrines of loa that called for it.
She’d come for a festival, unsure if she was going to be as heartily welcomed as Ahuatli always did--but she trusted her friend to know her business, and Khaeris had been folded into the celebrations as easily as any.
For a city so alive, so verdant, it felt strange to know Bwonsamdi was the Queen’s Loa now.
Khaeris looked over the plaza from her perch high up on a wall. Her feet dangled and idly kicked over the edge. Ahualti was at rehearsal and Khaeris had been left to her own devices. She could see far across the city; perhaps her mind should have been on Pa’ku, many of her children taking flight around the city, or on Jani as she watched urchins pick-pocketing shoppers below her. In truth, her mind was on Bwonsamdi. On death and possible tragedy, across the world in the Dragon Isles.
She had thrown herself toward Ahualti’s hospitality to keep herself out of trouble. Pollux had asked her to stay away from the Dragon Isles and the dangers there, he didn’t want to have to worry about her while he was away. She had done as he’d asked, though it chaffed and did nothing to stop her own worry for him. Or Pyraelia. Or anyone else she knew who had gone.
So, quietly, and perhaps unwisely, Khaeris said a fervent prayer to Bwonsamdi for her twice death-touched lover.
