| Another OC, this time from another project of mine; Andy is from a tribe I created known as the Frostclaw, Frostclaw Traders as they are a business sort of town that mostly deals with trades, shipping of goods and so forth.

The world he and the Frostclaw reside is the Promised Land, a realm between dimensions that is of mostly cold climates, different races and civilizations, who also gain the technology and so on from said other realms; I.e: Our world/Earth, fictional realities and worlds along with other dimensions and realms that are also unknown to us..

In other words, the people of the Promised Land steal and rummage through different dimensions, technolgy/arts, crops, waters and all, just to survive, adapt, evolve and live in their own realms... Of course not to say the people had nothing prior to dimension hopping, it's just if they want to be able to thrive and keep themselves safe... Yeah dimension hopping and stealing scraps from other worlds or realities it is (pssst. Even game universes somewhat exist in these realms.. So there is someone in the Promised Land who has the Super Crown and just wears it proudly like an idiot, ofc not changing into a Peach variant of their own of course, but just think it's a cute accessory to wear) ...

He is actually a Mountain Elf, he was adopted into the tribe (president) by the leader of the Frostclaw tribe, Takeshi, after Andy had escaped prison for various crimes in the past. Takeshi being a good man and soul, decided to pretty much bail him out, and in return Andy now works as a receptionist in their town's local chemist. He's still trying to pay him back for bailing him out

He did all sorts before his time with the Frostclaw; Drug dealing, thievery, assault on higher authorities and so forth. Even though he's slowly recovering, especially from drug abuse and other addictions, it still sometimes takes a toll on his mental and physical health

Elves are a very common race in the Promised Land, Ice Elves, Mountain Elves, Inferno Elves and so on.. Andy is a Mountain Elf, unlike Ice Elves who have glowing markings all over their body, Mountain Elves are born with black markings all over their bodies; Andy being from the Mountains of the floral and greenest forests, he is more likely to easily lurk and survive in the shadows (as they are vaguely more tribe-like)

He acts very tsundere all the time, but believe it or not there's at least a couple guys in the town he's somewhat got a crush on, he just hates to admit that. Which is fine

Those in the Frostclaw Tribe who were specifically assigned and qualified to be the defence of the town and carry bigger weapons and have access to defence machinations, Andy has permanently been barred from using such due to his past crimes and other unstable bits of his history. So Takeshi has only gifted him a little dagger that, believe it or not, has a baby proof cap that automatically covers it if he tries to attack anyone in the village, himself or visitors with it... Seems to work on brain waves or some sort, which is awfully hilarious

Due to experiencing bad trips, traumas or abuse and other illegal activities and crimes, he tends to have quite a lot of experience and knowledge on symptoms of withdrawal, mental instability and so forth, so he's had moments of proving he can actually be a really good therapist or reassurance to those who are dealing with a lot or struggling to quit bad habits

It may not seem it, but he's actually a vegetarian. Considering turning vegan too. {Possibly due to appetite ands habits changing

That's all I've got for him for now I think, a lot of the OCs from this tribe actually used to be fan characters for Breath of the Wild when it first released.. Specifically of the Yiga clan, to which btw yes I am still heavily obsessed with all these years... So the resemblance to such is there still, I do enjoy masked characters quite a lot but am slowly trying to change all of said fan characters into their own thing.. After a while having OCs is more enjoyable in the end because you can make their own backstories, arcs and so on...

Andy is a lot nicer than his Yiga counterpart I can tell you that, and is actually more tolerable asf which is funny..

Hoping to post more OCs at some point, but I haven't really been drawing for a few days so I really need to start doing such... Even if it is just fan art in the end, I should at least draw and finish off something before the new years..

For context: Don't think too much about the actual canon information. I didn't want to go back and re-read. So pretend everyone gets prepared early in acomaf because you know obvious conclusions of an incoming war.

Also, I wrote this in past tense which means my writing is weird. If I write more, I'll probs change this all to present tense which will drastically change the language of this fic.

It didn’t take long for Nesta to get on his nerves, which was unsurprising but even Cassian could admit it shouldn’t have been that soon. She’d refused to fly with him and he’d nearly thrown up his hands. 

Nesta hadn’t argued with them all day which should have tipped him off. She’d been quiet... and there was no part of the Nesta Archeron he knew as they waited in the shadows for Graysen’s people to arrive. Arrive and leave with her sister in tow.

Elain would be married by a priestess who came to the estate in the afternoon. A quick ceremony to appease society, and then off she’d go. With a wedding trousseau and stealthy goodbye. She would not be coming to the Night Court with them, and Cassian wondered how Feyre even convinced Nesta to come. There was no way she’d leave her sister. 

But he supposed it was easier to leave than to be left behind and Nesta--blooming in a light peach gown to match the flowers her sister had set around the house--was surely going to be left behind. 

Cassian, though he wouldn’t admit it, was relieved when he’d heard she’d come. He didn’t know what he’d do if he knew she was still here, where the queens and their trouble could come barging in at any moment. Hybern’s soldiers could come marching down and who would stand between her and death knocking on her doorstep? Secretly, Cassian had already made a plan to spend his free time here. Even if he’d have to hide in the trees. He’d get Azriel to take him after he did his rounds and none would be the wiser.  

Thankfully, Feyre had told him that Nesta had agreed to come. Elain would stay. She didn’t want to leave her life behind, and Cassian respected that decision as long as she was safe. A dark castle with high walls and enough ash weapons to kill a court was safe enough. 

He was relieved--almost elated at the thought of Nesta seeing Velaris. Giddiness welled in the pit of stomach at the thought of her viewing the open skyline and the sea. He’d show her the restaurants and the stars, the Sidra and all the art. Cassian hadn’t known her for long, but he’d find out what she’d like. 

He was practically vibrating with the excitement, unable to stop himself from shuffling. 

That is until Azriel had offered his arm and Nesta had shaken her head in a firm no. She didn’t want to winnow. Whatever fae magic that was, she’d said, crossing her fingers as if that might ward off whatever tainted curse might be left. 

Flying then? No. 

“Nesta, so help me. If you don’t decide soon, I’ll throw you over my shoulder and you can decide in the air if you prefer flying or not.” 

“Throw me over your shoulder, and I’ll vomit all over your wings.” Nesta said the words with enough ire that he wondered if she’d force herself to do it, just to prove her point. No, there would be no hands on the eldest Archeron.

Not unless she begged. 

But begging wasn’t something he should have been thinking of, when he was anywhere near this woman. Her scorn only seemed to light a flame in him that he wanted her to fan. She was so gods-damned delectable when she was glaring at him, her chin raised high. That soft bottom lip swollen from where she'd bitten it all day.

His brother gave him an exasperated sigh... 

Cassian knew it must have been from his scent.

Desire and Dream

I want to preface this post with an acknowledgement that I am woefully under-schooled on “The Sandman” with the exception of reading “Overture” and “The Kindly Ones” as well as watching the series more than once.

To some “The Sandman” fans this is not even enough for a prerequisite in lore. But to most lovers of the series (comic, audio, and television) I feel like there is a respect in musing no matter how much or little one has absorbed to muse upon.

So, I shall muse forth.

There seems to be so much similar in Desire and Dream’s characters. People (and I suppose anthropomorphic personifications) often butt heads with the ones who most reflect aspects about themselves they find distasteful. As such both siblings’ egotistic, prideful, and controlling natures do tend to run against each other like a hand going up a cat’s back instead of down. They rile each other up quite completely and that is extremely interesting to watch.

Shoving humanity aside for now (which is honestly quite satisfying a notion today), Desire and Dream’s sibling rivalry is so satisfying to watch. Neither is “better” or more “good” than the other. The argument comes from a simple question (insofar as my attention is aware): Do dreams create desire and therefore move us (humans) forward or are dreams an effect of having the desire to motivate people throughout their days?

Both are true. Having desire, I believe, comes from an instinctual need to survive and that survival is helped along by WANTING certain aspects of life. We don’t simply live to eat and reproduce. We live to LIVE.

At the same time, dreaming puts our desires (wants, fears, needs) in perspective inwardly. It sorts those desires into sharper images after reflection. Dreams, then, drive us forward as well, though more subtly.

This seems to be reflected in Dream and Desire’s personas as well. Dream is passionate and feels strongly but it is guarded like a quiet storm. Desire feels openly and audaciously, shamelessly in a way that Dream never could imagine to express. They are both haughty and obnoxious creatures. They also both hold humanity on their shoulders.

Desire is more than just sex. I think it’s easy to say “Oh, but Desire is just about sex and attraction.” No, to embody Desire one also has to be about wanting to move forward in live. Wanting to experience. Desire is about that attraction to life. Without Desire humanity crumbles into inaction. Not even despair. Not even depression. Just...stops. (And as an asexual writing this desire plays a very important role in my creative life without any sexual undertone. All that to say the character of Desire is someone I jive with quite thoroughly and not just because of their nonbinary nature.)

On the flip side of that, dreams are about imagining WHAT to desire. And the show has already laid examples to us what life would be without dreaming. Without, essentially, imagination and inner dialogue.

Long winded, but TL;DR: I adore the relationship between the emotionally inward Dream and the emotionally explosive Desire. I can’t wait to continue to read the comics and listen to the audio to learn more about these two.
