#my art #vanweek2024 #vanessa fnaf #vanessa sb #eyestrain #eye strain #<- 90% of my art will have these tags SORRY!#i tried to give the impression that she's being controlled to do this? like w/ the green hands and the eyes and face?#so i hope that came across lmao #also: the poofy sleeves. im using My vanny design which has similar details but a different silhouette bc it's not skin tight #which is what makes more sense to me. so her outfit is essentially made up of other pieces of clothes + patches of cloth for Style #my girl does NOT know how to sew she is NOT making an entire form fitting fur suit #plus it adds a little bit of mystery as to how she really looks when you can't see her entire fucking body through the suit lol #overall tho i didn't change much honestly. besides all the stuff i complained abt i do like her design w/ all the stitching + the mask

I felt like doing some hand sewing today and still had a few of those “some assembly required” mini embroidered plushie kits, so here’s a little starry rainbow cat!

I did not do the embroidery, I’ll add the link to the etsy shop I got it from in a minute once I find it again

#sewing #handmade #plushie #sometimes you just want to spend you lunch break watching taskmaster and assembling a tiny cat #I got to lean out a window and tear a fake shutter off a wall today!#because the top of the shutter came loose from the wall #and with the storm it was kinda flopping around and could fall and hit someone #but it was too windy for ladders #I didn’t really tear it I used wire cutters on the weird plastic tie thing holding it #but it was very much enrichment for my enclosure #I got to use tools! and essentially throw a large object out a window to crash onto the concrete! (it did no damage to itself or the ground)#(we just couldn’t leave it dangling to potentially fall on someone later)

I remembered that I can actually do anything I want, so I've been using faux fur as a texture element in patching up my old ripped jeans (not done stitching yet as evidenced by the pins on the border of it)

I am also going to buy red thread and try to include a decorative amogus somewhere on here.

#Ford's art #visible mending #sewing #color says shit #I've been staying up until almost 2am sewing because I lose track of time while stitching.#I used a denim patch as an actual backing and cut and trimmed the fur patches to size and cut the fur around the hole #so they're essentially inserted between the denim backing and the front pant layer.#so I'm finished sewing the fur in place (that's the three circular x stitch patterns)#so now I'm working on the anchor stitches for the entire backing patch #because I've done smaller patches and the pants often rip out right next to the patch #so a larger patch that reinforces the fabric that's still incredibly worn but not quite ripped out helps prevent more ripping #my earlier patch jobs weren't very good but I'm getting better each time #and I have plenty of ripped jeans to practice on.#I'm just sad I can't wear them to work because they're visibly patched.#which.. that's the point for me but work dress code doesn't like that #if they were cutely embroidered I could definitely. but I'm going for the janky look so work won't approve

BY THE NARRATIVE.#when its more like hes on the most insane experimental medication that they wont even test on like. rats.#also im not fact checking any of this before posting. so i might be lying about things.#idk if it was all of strega that had trouble controlling their personas but like. chidori was because of the Experimentation.#and shinjis just like. mentally ill coded. in a bad way 😭#The inability to regulate a mood/stimuli to the point where he can be unsafe to himself or others.#broad ass symptom of disorders that are not treated well. its also interesting that its not brought on by a specific event.#like the childhood fire is there. but you have akihiko right there to directly compare it to. and hes arguably more effected by it all.#and he seems to be coping well 10+ years on like some coping mechanisms are kind of weird (protein) but nothing super out of the ordinary.#so the problem is really the october 4th incident which was just a pure honest to god accident.#the fact that it gets covered up as a car accident does feel like the best like. emotional equivalent.#because it being shinji being unable to control his persona his true representation of himself and it resulting in death is sooooo bleak #and it weighs on him for 2+ years of being suicidal and unhoused until finally he goes through with his suicide by martyrdom.#i lost the plot a little bit on the gender situation with the vague allusions to fraility when story convenient #acting as dorm den mother and cooking and sewing long hair jacket sillhouette reading like a dress #was referring to that before mental illness took over. woman under the influencing this anime boy.#long way of saying i think he should have a over the shoulder ponytail when hes older. and he should have a mood disorder.

Minky is a demon fabric. It lures you in with promises greater than mortal joys (sooooo soft SO soft so soooft) and only later do the consequences of your unholy pact become clear.

#sewing #It's so hard to work with #It's SO stretchy I can't even pin this stuff right #Use every pin in my tomato and surprise it still stretches out of shape on the sewing machine #and you might have to literally sell your soul for it to afford it #it can be so darn expensive #You need a special stretch needle so the machine doesn't sense its evils and murder it immediately #I have a cat that sheds a ton but nothing prepared me for how much minky shreds #I cut out one piece and look like a just came in from a fuzz blizzard #no wonder so many people prefer cotton #cotton is so reliable it's sturdy and strong and stable and easy and no stretch #Meanwhile the minky is over here writhing and speaking in tongues #I love it though #It's so soft it's so soft it's so soft #I get distracted sewing because oooohhh SOFT pet soft #soft is most essential attribute of all things

Does anyone else's zombie apocalypse plan boil down to "I can't fight, so I'll hide out in the woods with yarn/fabric/other craft materials and as much of the Internet as I could archive along with as much human knowledge as I can feasibly fit into a U-Haul and wait out the early fighting parts until society starts to re-establish because I watch way too many movies to know that as long as there are survivors, there are people who don't want to fight all the time, so I want to have a few good skills beyond stabby stabby and besides, all you need to do is shelter in place, and there is so much land it is statistically unlikely, as long as people have some warning, no one who doesn't want to find you won't find you"?

If so, glad I'm not alone in this.

I finished another crochet basket, the red one was the first/figure-it-out one and the gray one was not only easier but looks tighter and neater, so I think I’m going to make another red one since I know what I’m doing now

#the red one isn’t bad! just the comparison is STARK #I also made my sister a pink one with the thicker yarn and it was easier than I thought it would be #especially since the thicker yarn meant the stitches were bigger and it was easier to see where I needed to go #Sarah crochets #Sarah has found a new hobby #Sarah is turning INTO HER MOTHER #we have a crapton of yarn left over from her crafting and I’m considering making just a patchwork blanket #like just making gigantic swatches with different colors of yarn and then sewing them all together to make essentially a crochet quilt

…How do we feel about the environmental implications of certain very tiktok-friendly Small Business Crafts such as resin work and polymer clay jewelry. I know that I feel and think things about them but I don’t really know what those things are

#like are they yet another expression of first world consumerist luxury?#is it irresponsible to create with what is essentially a lot of plastic?#is it stupid to shame people for this when their impacts are negligible compared to manufacturers and industry?#or is it something to be more concerned about?#how is the ‘accessible low-entry level craft -> small business on tiktok’ pipeline affecting artists?#in what ways do these crafts intersect w privilege or lack thereof?#what makes them different from things like beading/embroidery/pottery/painting/metalwork/sewing/other arts and crafts?#are they different at all?#idk I just feel like on the one hand yay creativity on the other hand i feel like it’s trendifying/yassifying/commodifying certain aspects #of creativity #like most amateur like ‘small business’ tiktok girlies are just making things that follow trends and often copies of whatever is popular atm #(at least in my experience)#like do you know what I mean. like all the resin girlies with their molds they bought on aliexpress #and the polymer clay earring girlies where they make the clay look like marble/stone in a ‘satisfying’ grammable process #of chopping up teeny bits of clay and mixing it with acrylic paint and gold leaf and rolling it all out #and it’s ‘satisfying’ and just the ~perfect~ vehicle for ~trending audios~
