lazy day with simon got me giggling and kicking my feet in the air. it was mentioned that simon felt insignificant after leaving the army and i was wondering if you could do a little imagine on how he slowly overcomes this or how reader helps him whenever he feels this way thank you, absolutely in love w ur blog!

Hi, anon! I received your request before my vacation and promised myself I wouldn’t write anything while here. Well, I lied. Excuse my poor grammar; I wrote this on my smartphone, and proofreading is challenging. (FYI, this is the story anon is talking about)

“If you throw a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will hop right out. But if you put that frog in a pot of tepid water and slowly warm it, the frog doesn’t figure out what’s going on until it’s too late.”

That’s Simon.

I believe that the veterans’ support group would be pretty beneficial in boosting his morale. After all, the reader can’t do much to help him overcome his issues other than support him, especially if they come from a different background and cannot relate to his experiences.

Loving him is crucial, but you’ll need a lot of empathy and patience to help him overcome his challenges.

I imagine him being sceptical at first, putting off his investigation of the group. Asking him whether or not he has taken any action would put him on the defensive, which would backfire.

However, if you passively encourage and indirectly let him realise the value of a community, he will be more intrigued by the idea. Sort of like planting a seed in his head.

So here’s how I see it playing out:

You’d begin by sharing your personal experiences. Say, for example, that one day you excitedly announce to him that you’re gathering with your classmates at your local hobby club to start a new project together. Or, perhaps, you’d invite them to your house for dinner and discuss whatever you do there. He’d be watching you all from a distance, feeling both intrigued by your relationship with them and excluded for not having that kind of connection with other people who have the same interests or share similar experiences with him.

And that’s how he’d start looking into the support group. In secret, of course; he wouldn’t want to make a big deal out of it and certainly doesn’t want you to do that either.

He’d casually drop the topic one day while the two of you took a walk in the park. You’d act cool about it, but your entire existence would be dancing on the inside. From then on, he’d gradually open up more, and you’d secretly root for him, pushing him behind the scenes and subtly facilitating his progress.

Up to the point where, one day, he’d come to the living room while you were watching TV, holding two identical black shirts, asking you which one he should wear for his first day of meeting with the group. Your opinion matters to him, and you can tell he’s nervous, just like a teenager attending his first party. You’d advise that he wear the one on the left—although you see no difference in them—and he’d agree, saying it was his first choice.

After the first meeting, he wouldn’t shut up about the group. He’d talk nonstop about someone called Andrew or Jack, and when you asked who these people were, he’d act offended and start giving you more information on them, like you were supposed to know them too.

“I told you about Andrew, the one who’s about to get married.”

“Jack, you don’t remember Jack? The one with the receding hairline who’s had enough and shaved his head off!”

Ultimately, he’d be the one organising dinner parties at your house with his new friends and their partners. And this would go on and on, and he’d be so happy for his new friends and start opening up more, not only to them but to you as well. He won’t overcome his issues per se, but he’ll begin understanding them by seeing them through other people’s eyes—people who feel the same pain as him.

And as for you? You’d be peeking through the curtain at the man he’s becoming, slowly, steadily, and under your discreet influence and subtle direction.

Bonus drabble I was thinking quite a lot about but couldn’t embed it in the story above:

You come home from the supermarket and enter the kitchen. Simon stands there with an apron, reading from a recipe book and nodding. You call his name, but he doesn’t hear you over the sound of the blender mixing, so you pat his back. You startle him, but he smiles.

You point at the book and ask him what he’s doing.

He lifts his arms and looks at himself. He’s a mess. Everything around him is a mess.

“Baking?” He says in the form of a question as if he doesn’t even believe it himself.

You put the groceries on the kitchen table and survey the warzone. “What exactly are you baking?” You shout.

“Cake!” He yells back enthusiastically and points at his concoction in the blender, “for the group!”

the reality of Bridgerton fandoms that we don't want to face is that all the women in this show are compelling and interesting and have justifiable reasons for acting the way they do. *all* of them. and this is most evident when discussing penelope and eloise. those that hate penelope for what she did to eloise do so because they only want to empathize with eloise as the purely hurt party. those who hate eloise for becoming friends with cressida after the fact do so because they only want to empathize with penelope and her good intentions in what she did.

so few want to acknowledge that they are both two women with full experiences. that they both have growth to undertake that is highlighted in the fallout of their friendship. that eloise feels betrayed because she trusted penelope to hold her secrets, and then found out that she did not do so. we are angry that eloise does not immediately recognize penelope's intentions in the shadow of that hurt, as if we, too, would not immediately attempt to shield ourselves in light of being wounded by a friend. we do not want to acknowledge that penelope did what she did for partly altruistic means, and partly selfish ones. but also that she is allowed her selfishness as all women are allowed selfishness. that yes, she has a right to be protective of whistledown, this thing she felt was all she had to call hers. and that she has a right to want eloise to support her in that, and can absolutely be wounded that she doesn't

they both have reasons for their behavior. cressida being the only person to show eloise kindness in the fallout of the 'radical article' is a good reason to strike up a friendship, but why is eloise also not allowed some modicum of pettiness and frustration in the aftermath? have we not all felt 'if only i could hurt them back, that would heal me'? have not we all had to grow from such? and similarly, have not we all felt 'i did this for good reasons! how can you be upset at me?' and also had to grow from such a perspective on penelope's part?

this fandom has a misogyny problem. we only want to empathize with a women we relate to, refusing to see that any woman can be one we relate to if we try. in light of that, we make other women our favorite character's enemy: we did this with Kate and Edwina, we did this with Penelope and Marina, we are doing this with Eloise and Penelope. one party is perfect and justified, and the other a villain. we do not want to have empathy for multiple women. and it's not that womanhood is universal so we can find that empathy no matter what, but rather that women are diverse and worthwhile to understand. penelope did hurt eloise, regardless of intentions. her actions were harmful, and the outcome of them painful for her friend. eloise, too, has harmed penelope in not listening to her or wanting to understand her desires. you can root for a woman finding her love story and babies ever after and also for a woman to never have that outcome and to go to university and to respect her reluctance in having children. we can appreciate that their two differing desires result in tension within their friendship. furthermore, there's even more complication with these two because penelope's ultimate love story is found with eloise's brother, a man they have both harmed and who has harmed them, as well, though in different ways. season 3 takes place with an established cast, near all members having been there from the beginning, and with pre-established conflicts and personalities and mistakes. in an ideal world, season 3's theme is not romance, but rather forgiveness, maturity, and growth. all these characters are relatable for different reasons, but do we need relatability to strive for understanding and appreciation of their arcs?

eloise and penelope, both, have not listened to one another, have both been wrapped in their own stories, have both had their own endeavors that they wanted the other to support and been disappointed when that did not happen.

they are messy and complicated and real. and i want to see them reconcile (no matter how bittersweet, because i think we've all had a best friend we lost in some way, a sister we thought would never be gone until she was, someone we hurt and were hurt by, and i can't help but see my own former friendship in them, and i can't help but feel for them both in light of it), but more than that, i want them to be individuals in their own right. because they need this distance, they need their personhood

we can find something in both their 'sides' to have kinship with.

Solas is Neurodiverse.

This is of course my opinion, don't invalidate me, if you find comfort in this character then I'm glad, join the party!

• Info dumping (You boost his approval by asking him about magic & the fade... and oh my world does he have a lot to say about it!)

• Strong sense of justice... freeing the slaves, wanting to right wrongs. He feels so strongly about injustice, especially when he can sympathise (mages & elves) a strong sense of social justice is often linked with ND people because we are marginalised, mistreated and ridiculed. I can often get angry, irate and depressed when there's injustice in the world and for a lot of my ND friends it's the same.

• Likes to be alone (he still has friends who are spirits, but he doesn't actively seek out companionship with people) prefers his own company. (Hermit tarot... come on! I'm crying in INTP/INTJ here)

• Always reading, writing, he even paints a whole ass mural on the walls as skyhold in a short burst of time, hyperfocus/hyperfixation.

• Comes across as blunt. I've been told I'm blunt so many times it's infuriating when I don't mean to be, I'm just firm in what I know to be true and will say it without dancing around the matter.

• Speaks 'strangely' in a poetic rhythm. While not an exclusive trait, given everything else it holds merit.

• He does have a great deal of empathy if you romance him/get to know him, but on a surface level he seems distant because he doesn't open up personally! It takes a LOT to crack that egg. I'm 4 years into a committed relationship and I still get told I don't open up enough when I'm struggling with emotions because I keep them internalised... probably a trauma response but in Solas' case... yeah, definitely a trauma response.

• Comes across argumentative when talking about stuff to which the group (Dorian especially during party banter) will ask if he's upset with them, and he says he isn't. ND people are always stuffed in the 'uncanny valley' and seen as outsiders, or stand-offish... we're just not very good with social nuances in terms of delivery, but are deeply self aware of that and prefer to observe, and I argue Solas is incredibly self aware. (Knows when he is being 'selfish' or 'foolish')

• Incredibly knowledgeable on a lot because he's intensively researched it, has to know everything about that subject and becomes deeply immersed in it.

• He never lied about anytning, he just didn't throw it out there... Autistic people can lie you know... however not once did he lie, he just kept his secrets hidden, that's very different to lying. Lying wild be 'Are you Fen'Harel'?... 'No' I've kept secrets from people for a long ass time to spare their feelings and my own self interest. (Not as bad as it sounds ahah! Just an example)

• History nerd... C'mon most of us have a favourite time period that isn't this one...

• I mentioned the paintings, he's also an artist, as well as a dreamer. A lot of us have infiltrated science or the arts... or both! Most of the world's leading scientists and artists are ND. He probably has an idetic memory.

I have more if people care to hear it, but in my opinion and based on my own personal experience being AuDHD, I'd say he is. I resonate with his character more deeply than the others because no ND person is alike and we all have our own personal struggles/wins.

A similar example in media to Solas would be (and hear me out ahah) Walter White (minus the drugs) but intelligence and the way he speaks to others, hides stuff from people (and assumes an alias to seperate himself) I definitely see WW as Autistic. So why not Solas?

Can we please stop infantalizing ASD, and applying the manic pixie lense to it, there's so much more to it that just 'quirky'. Cole is practically confirmed, people have debated Sera being ADHD, but also they are painted with a similar 'childish' brush.

What do you think about the claims that Omashu could still parallel Zutara because

1. When they “Bonded”, they were in Ba Sing Se, whose motto is “There is no war in Ba Sing Se”.

2. Zuko wore “yellow” during the catacombs scene and it happened while they were in a cave with similar colored crystals.

3. Katara defeating Azula is somehow a better parallel to Oma’s rampage than Katara’s anger at Aang nearly dying.

4. Oma or shu was holding an Olive branch and Katara offered to heal Zuko’s scar.

5. Aang can’t be a reincarnation of Oma or shu because neither was mentioned to be the avatar whereas Katara and Zuko could be their reincarnations.

I've already explained how nonsensical this "Oma and Shu is about Zutara" is, but MAN, the points you brought up only made it look even stupider.

1 - Being FORCED to be in a place together to bond is very different from willingly meeting each other. Ba Sing Se DENYING there's a war going on is very different from two people having to meet in secret because the war is THE ONE THING everyone in both rival groups is talking about. The situations are not just different, they're complete opposites.

2 - Zuko was wearing Earth Kingdom clothes because he HAD to blend in to survive. He did for the entire season, it makes no sense to connect that to a legend HE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF. And obviously the cave of Ba Sing Se, an Earth Kingdom territory, is gonna have the same color pallete of Omashu's cave, since it is also EK, and this show is aimed at 6-year-olds. That's why we have things like everyone in the WATER tribe having BLUE eyes.

Also, he and Katara were in a cave with crytals - but Katara and Aang were ON THE ACTUAL CAVE OF OMA AND SHU, and had their first kiss there, which they both seemed to enjoy. If simply having a conversation in a cave counts as parallels to Oma and Shu, Zuko opening up about his personal struggles to Aang (whose soul wasn't even there) in the North Pole and the Kataang dance in the secret party also count.

3 - Like you pointed out, Katara AND Aang fighting Azula, who had not even attacked Zuko at that point, cannot mean her grief over him parallels Oma grief for Shu (especially since, again, Zuko was fine). Meanwhile Katara was five seconds away from going Koizilla mode after Azula KILLED AANG IN BATTLE, aka the same way Shu died.

4 - FINALLY, a halfway decent point! Yes, the Crossroads scene was absolutely about two enemies maybe seeing eye-to-eye for once and realizing they're not so different - that's a theme that is constantly repeated through all three seasons of Avatar, through many different characters and dynamics.

But that doesn't change the fact that empathy/compassion is not the same as "I'm in love with you", nor the fact that, unlike Shu, Zuko REJECTED the peace offering - funny how Zutarians always ignore that part, huh? Once again, the situation is not just different, it's the direct opposite.

5 - The Avatar is the only confirmed case of reincarnation in Avatar. It's very possible that there are more (and Momo was originally going to be Gyatso's reincarnation), but we cannot say any character other than Aang is a reincarnation of someone else because the show did not ever say that was even possible.

And even if it IS, that does not mean Katara and Zuko HAVE to be Oma and Shu. There were literally THOUSANDS of people on opposite sides of a war on that show, and like I said, they were not even the only two characters to have a moment in a cave AND Zuko never even heard of the legend. He is not connected to it at all, unlike Aang.

(And while history repeating itself IS a theme in Avatar, cicles being BROKEN is also important narratively, so Zuko rejecting Katara's peace offering in Crossroads shows that even if, against all odds, he WAS Shu, their romance won't repeat itself, at least in this life)

Also, there's a big difference between saying "Katara and Aang are Oma and Shu reincarnated" and "The writers used Oma and Shu's story to further Katara and Aang's plot."

So yeah, bad, terrible, awful "arguments" just to pretend the Kataang centered episode was secretly about Zutara all along. These people gotta learn to the L already.

from the outside you and Chishiya were friends, but nothing more in your friends' eyes, they thought you got into disputes far too easily to tolerate each other in a loving way. to them you were this cheerful and bubbly person who was always ready to help others despite what people warned, and from their point of view Chishiya was this cold, stoic and on occasion brooding man who held little empathy for anyone but himself. but this was of course their view. to you Chishiya was significantly different. sure, he still harbored the traits that others viewed him as but he also had more caring ones. when it was just the two of you he wasn't exactly bouncing off the walls and hugging you till you couldn't breathe, but he was more open and relaxed. he let you hug him and kiss him wherever you pleased and he was more comfortable showing you physical affection. he'd always ask if you'd remembered to eat or drink anything that day and if not he would cook your favorite meal. at least twice a week he fed into your obsession with little trinkets he'd see on his way home from work, it made his day more bearable when it ended with your smile. to you, Chishiya was your caring boyfriend. which is why you had to hide it. you both knew that if found out you would in turn receive endless amounts of teasing from your mutual friends. especially Kuina.

unfortunately your friend group was together almost every day of the week so you rarely got alone together unless you snuck away somewhere which was definitely not meant to be used as a secret meet up spot. so when Chota and Karube invited you and the others to a party, you and your secret lover declined for separate reasons. there was no way you weren't taking advantage of this chance to be alone. you had texted the group chat saying you were sick and at home while Chishiya had said he was out of town for personal reasons, which wasn't technically a lie on his part.

"peace, finally" you muttered as you shuffled into Chishiya more, your head rested between his neck and shoulder while he had an arm around you to ensure you stayed close. "they better not blow up my phone" you chuckled and refocused your attention to the t.v where a film of Chishiya's choice was playing but soon got distracted and started to fidget with his hands, occasionally you pulled one toward your face so you could lay a kiss on the back of his hand. times like these were the ones you truly cherished.

as the hours ticked by you felt yourself getting sleepy, the repetitive dialogue on the t.v and the slight buzz your boyfriend's cologne gave your head wasn't helping you stay awake. the comforting feeling of having him around didn't help you to stay conscious either. soon the urge to sleep overpowered your body and Chishiya could feel you drifting off on top of him. he lowered the volume on the television for your comfort and pulled a blanket over you both so you wouldn't be cold. Shuntaro never really imagined himself being so lucky. everyone always called him cold and incapable of love, which was in fact a lie. he just showed it differently, which you knew and were okay with. he was immensely grateful that you let him show his adoration for you the way he preferred.

the light of the day was fading and along with it Chishiya's will to stay awake. you had only been passed out for around half an hour so he didn't need to worry about you waking up. so with you tucked up in his hold he let himself fall asleep with you, his head falling to rest on top of yours. when you both awoke to what you assumed to be morning but were instead met with flashing phone cameras you were stunned and a little frustrated to say the least.

"Chishiya, what are you doing to Y/n!" Arisu slurred, clearly more than a little tipsy from the way he was holding himself. "he's cuddling them, that's what he's doing!" Tatta had pushed himself to the front of the huddle just to yell, "are you guys boning?!" Usagi slapped his arm and sent a distasteful glare his way. "don't be so vulgar!"

"okay then, are you guys 'making love'!" Chishiya stared at his flushed friend in disgust and rolled his eyes when they all insisted on an answer from him. "no, we are not boning or making love. we're dating you morons."

silence followed Chishiya's bold statement. everybody stared at each other with wide eyes. the awkward stillness was interrupted when Kuina burst out laughing, the voracity of her cackles almost tipped her over. "okay, good one, Chishiya!" others followed suit after realizing it was a joke. most doubling over in lung aching laughter. "oh my god, man! you almost got me!"

"c'mon guys, let's leave this endearing couple alone!" what they failed to realize was that this was in fact not a joke, and was quite a real relationship. you both stared in shock as your group of drunk friends stumbled out the door and slammed it behind them.

"did they just leave….?"

"It seems that way, yes."

Joy of Life Episode 24 liveblogging

This is my first watch, so don't tell me secrets ;)

Let's meet Noble Consort Yi! Her son is Third Prince

ML feeling a lil empathy for the consort and crown prince in their prisons (which doesn't mean he's foolish enough to trust them)

next we meet Consort Shu (I actually got the "shu" joke, very proud of myself lol) Mother of the Second Prince! She cracks me up. ('Your son likes me!' '..Sounds fake but ok.')

Lady Ning's son, who isn't in succession, is out fighting at the border. Not sure he's truly accepted his fate.

The infamous grandmaster Eunuch Hong!!

Empress Dowager has not made a good impression on our ML. But the feeling is mutual.

Royal Princess invites him over, so she can make sure he's alienated from that entire extended family lol

She's trying to set him up so obviously.

And she even admits she ordered the assassination, to try to get him to attack. BE COOL DUDE BE COOL.

He's not so stupid to assume he could take action here. (I say, pleadingly 🙏🙏🙏🙏)

Commander Yan, I don't quite get. There's no way the emperor would approve ML's murder and he's got to know that. So he's more loyal to the Royal Princess? Or he's just protecting any member of the roles of the dynasty, whoever they are, and sees emperor as a position rather than a person whose direction he follows? 🤔

Chen Pingping is in DANGER. I fear he's not long for this world. Rebellion at hand.

The pro northern qi destruction party is plotting assassinations.

ML is aware he needs to take his time to deal with his evil MIL. Good, good I agree.

Like me, ML finds overly perky people very off-putting

Second part of the Chris and🐟 interpretation:

8 of wands - indicates fast movement or fast communication

4 of coins reversed- indicates represents that someone has a negative attributes of greed, materialism.

Death- means that someone might be resisting a significant transformation or a change whether it’s Chris or Alba or both. It can also mean an ending in a relationship. Meaning the death of a relationship and moving onto a different one.

The clarifying card to the death card is the Empress in reverse now the Empress upright usually represents fertility, creativity, and nurturing. But since it’s in reverse the Empress symbolizes a lack of self-worth or confidence, it also indicates an imbalance of power within the relationship a company by impatience. So either Chris or Alba or once again both may be filling that!

7 of Wands- represents in reverse means someone is feeling exhaustion, someone may be giving up and may be feeling overwhelmed whether it’s Alba or both. It may also indicate a lack of courage, self belief or stigma to continue defending the position or the relationship.

The clarifying card is the five of swords that represents challenges and conflicts in love, and in a relationship that may stem from a lack of communication it can also symbolize surrender, victory by betrayal, and the emptiness that follows a harsh struggle. And extreme cases that can indicate bullying, abuse, or violence. Chris or Alba Or both of them maybe be feeling that.

Judgment in reverse means that someone is delaying and making a decision about the relationship due to self doubt that someone is thinking about cheating on their partner!

The clarifying card to that is the king of cups. In a love reading the king of cups can reveal a shadow side, such as being emotionally unavailable, insensitive, and immature. People wanna believe it or not. So in this reading, there is nothing about pregnancy anywhere! But there is heartbreak there is someone wanting to get out, there is a third person involved so maybe one, or Alba or both may have a secret lover on the side that nobody knows about, and are just gonna have to deal with it and if 🐟 does end up pregnant and if she is cheating and having a third person involved in this PR marriage, it won’t be from it will be from the person she’s cheating on with

Zouey, baby boy, I know you mean well, but this definitely isn't the right time for a therapy session... Fuck it if Captain hates Puen for no reason, we all know he's an asshole. But right now there are more important things to do!

But didn't Puen say he only gave Keen a bj that one time when he first joined the rugby team? Either Captain is exaggerating or Puen was lying...

Also, Soong had sex with Keen as well. He must be glad that he didn't reveal that fact during the party game. Who knows what kind of drama that would've caused between First and Captain... Here is to hoping that Soong can keep his secret!

Yeah, I don't think Zouey sees himself as the main character and neither does Nont.

BUT this scene makes it obvious that something hasn't been working out between Captain, First and the other guys in the group for a while now. It's true that Zouey keeps telling these two (and Porche also) how horrible they are, what bad friends they are and that they're the reason why whatever happened to Nant, did happen. Zouey already did that in ep1: "We should admit that Nant disappeared, because he has bad friends like you guys." But as we know by now, Nant disappeared because he was investigating Jason and bit more off than he could chew. Captain and First pushing Nant to have sex had nothing to do with it. So in a way I can understand why Captain gets upset with Zouey. He feels mistreated and misunderstood.

But guys... the mission? Nant? Getting Jason a place in jail? No? Doesn't matter anymore, I guess

🐈 for a pet/animal-themed headcanon

Daki is a bit of a snob-- since she's such a pampered, indoorsy girl, she sees most animals as dirty. She harbors a secret fondness for birds, and would probably have one as a pet if she could bully other people into cleaning it and caring for it.

Gyutaro is fairly neutral to animals, but I think he secretly likes them. Not out of any empathy, just out of interest and hyperawareness. If he had to keep a pet, I personally think he would capture and train a rat, MUCH to Daki's distaste, but she would just complain audibly.

🎡 for a hobby-themed headcanon

Daki loves being admired. She hates participating. She procrastinates on her tea ceremony duties, but will jump at any opportunity to show off how much better she is than other girls. I especially keep coming around to music and dancing: it helps that Daki knows that music holds a significant comfort to humans and she likes to ruin that for them by making it as domineering as possible.

Gyutaro's favorite hobbies are daydreaming and spying. He's got a lot of idle time on his hands, so he lends a lot of his power to Daki so that she can do her own surveillance, but they both still view him as the ultimate mastermind. He's often disenchanted and retreats to stories and rumors for amusement.

💌 for a romance-themed headcanon

Daki is a sucker for love without knowing it, but it's rarely a healthy, wholesome affection. Relations are like play to her, regardless of how emotionally fulfilling it is. She gets fond of other girls, makes them her confidant, then eats them when things get too difficult. It's harder for her to feel that kind of connection with men, given her loyalty to Muzan (and time-appropriate gender norms), and she has more practice in abiding by the client-customer expectations. But she does have favorite clients too: specifically the ones who dote her in gifts and give her leverage to use on them.

Gyutaro, meanwhile, I personally view as greyromantic. It's always been elusive for him, even as a human, and his demon status helps reinforce his preference. But if he does catch feelings, it's more like loving an idea or possession of someone. (This isn't specific to romance though-- gestures to his misogyny towards Daki.) Even if he liked someone he wouldn't know what to do about it, given his rejection sensitivity, so romance is a treacherous area for all parties involved.

Thank you! Lol, I just finished my first run of the game last night & I am rotating my Tav around in my brain because of it

8: After Act 3, what does their life look like? What are they talking about at the reunion party?

She did not join the adventuring guild she'd been trying to join before the tadpole thing (even though she definitely totally qualifies now & they're over her companions dying in said tadpole thing since she helped save the world), but that's fine because she's adventuring on her own! Mardora doesn't need a group, she can go out on her own to make the world a safer, better place in the name of the dwarffather (& if Shadowheart is also doing the solo adventuring/exploring thing then maybe they link up sometimes. Y'know, for old time's sake). She also maintains a decent relationship with her dad & her mom's family, so breaks between adventures will be spent catching up in either Baldur's Gate or Eartheart (or with one of the other game companions if they feel like letting her stay over for a few days).

17: Do they have any enemies outside of the main plot? Any friends?

No enemies (unless you count some low level monsters/goblins/duergar she could potentially be pointed at with all the righteous fury of your average hill dwarf), yes to friends though! They got a bit distant after Mardora left home, but she does try to maintain her friendship with her bestie from her pre-adventurer life. The send each other letters for a while, but maintenance did get pretty hard when she was unexpectedly on the road for, like, 2 months to try & stop a cult/fix Peepaw Withers's mistake/get rid of an illithid tadpole...which is not even addressing how hard that maintenance gets when she literally flies off into the sunset to help Lae'zel free the githyanki people from Vlaakith.

22: How is your Tav's relationship with their family? Their parents?

Mardora is "what if mommy issues was a person?" The feelings there are very complicated--she loves her mom, but there's also resentment there because "what do you mean I was lied to for over 50 years? What do you mean I have to put my early dwarf!adulthood on pause to take care of a dying woman?" But she's also, like, 53/in the equivalent of her 30s, so she's enough of an adult that she's got a lot of empathy to extend to the memory of her mom.

She's fairly close to her mom's siblings, but it's also kinda complicated there too. "How much of the lying were they complicit in because of Tradition™? How much was just them not knowing what was going on?" Her Uncle Doltharn did tell her the long & short of everything after a while though & supported Mardora in making steps towards her dreams even if they took her away from home--so he's good people & she has the least conflicted feelings about him.

In terms of her dad, they're kind of more friends than family given she didn't meet him till...like 4 months before the start of the game? It's a bit awkward, but they get on. They are, ironically, both clerics of Moradin, so that probably helped bridge some gaps.

26: Give us one of your Tav's secrets!

When she was dwarf!10 she stole a stuffed tressym from a merchant because she thought it was cute. She felt so bad about it that three days later she snuck it back into the shop.

Kapyy Character Analysis + Fan Lore (my bbg)

ok so there’s like no lore for Kapyy so I’m making my own.

1: Character appearance

so from top to bottom

he has short hair clipped with pastel hair clips, his bangs in spikes, (maybe chiffon did that /j)

he wears sunglasses, similar to the sunglasses that Nithe Long wears. This is great for me bc I think Nithe is his mom.

he’s wearing the good old DJ outfit, alongside a tracksuit from the 90s.

His glove is Green, meaning he’s perfectionistic, analytical, conceptual, cool, calm, inventive and logical. Although he acts like he isn’t.

The name Kapyy originates from “Kapi” which means “Sun/Monkey” which reflects the Chinese trickster god, Sun Wukong.

To add up to that, Monkey is part of the Chinese zodiac.

Now for the Nithe being Kapyys mom conspiracy!

“Nithe” means “Dragon” while “Kapyy” means “Monkey” both are animal theme names and both are part of the Chinese zodiac.

Kapyy was a stillborn, he almost died as an infant until well… Nithe took things into her own hands. She payed good money to make sure he was alive and healthy. It was a good thing she was a major CEO in cyberfunk, she had empathy for those who were resourceful. however, she had always wanted an heir to pass down her family wealth and power to, and it was Kapyy. Not only this but because he’s a stillborn, she’s very protective of him. He never knew, he thought she wanted him to be her perfect corporate son. This affected his mental health for years without end, he just wanted to be a DJ.

once Nithe knew this, she signed him up for her company, but as a DJ. He realized how much he was isolated from cyberfunk and soon finds out that he was, in fact, a stillborn.

He made up for it by living in the moment. He attended more and more parties, he especially liked Halloween parties. He grew with a sweet tooth, loving candies of all kinds. He took a concert to wackygroove and met the love of his life…

Yeah you knew anyways they bond over their love for sweet treats and start dating after a week. Deep down kapyy knows this is bad because his mother would take away all his money and everything. So they decide to keep it a secret.

Anyway OK listen. Listen to me okay Bg3 refers to baldurs gate 3 and for all you need to know it's a dnd video game where the characters get infected with literal brain worms which should have turned them into murderous cultists, but somehow they got spared that fate, and come together to get rid of their brain worms

The party is made of

Grian: a gnome druid whose preferred wild shape is a bird and who might have some hidden aasimar origins because Grian HAS to be God's favorite princess all the time

Scar: an elf ranger who was torn away from his family when he was kidnapped by illithids, and whose closest bro Cub (a warlock who's made a pact with archfaes) was also infected but sadly was turned into a cultist. Scar is desperately looking for him.

Scott: a tiefling bard/sorcerer who does most of the group's talking with npcs both due to his travels making him the more knowledgeable of the group about the region but also because as a bard you can do wild shit like just convince really powerful entities to just kill themselves for fun and that's a very Scott thing to do

Mumbo: a half drow artificer who tbh is the most normal of the group (as far as everyone knows anyway)

Jimmy: half aarakocra (bird :D) vampire cringefail rogue who. Well yeah he's a stand in for astarion me and my friend just wanted a cringefail vampire with negative charisma ok

Joel: A half elf barbarian who has a little secret. The secret is that he's a murderous bastard. But like in the most literal sense of the word

Joel's role specifically has me so mentally ill. Okay. So like. You need a teensy bit of lore for this ok and this will include spoilers for baldy gate 3 if the 2.5 people who read this far intend to play the viddy game well stop reading but still kiss me on the mouth.

So the Lore has many gods and the gods are just real tangible all powerful beings. Much like with Greek mythos, you following a specific god isn't because you only believe in that God, but because you're most devoted to them. Well that's how I see it anyway. And there are three gods associated with death and evil (it's more complicated than that in my hc but we don't have time). One of them is Bhaal. And Bhaal, get this, is the most metal fucking fictional god I've seen because he's the god of MURDER.

Something something he had to give birth to people called Bhaalspawn for some reason who are his direct children and carry a piece of him within them or something (Bg/dnd superfans don't come at me) and it's all part of his grand plan to take over the world. WHATEVER

But Joel IS a bhaalspawn. And he was Bhaal's specialest most favorite bhaalspawn. And now, okay, the thing about bhaalspawns is that they're not actually inherently evil, but they do carry that part of Bhaal within them - his will, and his potential for power. Some Bhaalspawn are raised specifically to be daddy's best little murderers and of course that's how Joel was brought up.

He was examplary because he was trained to be. He was capable of some of the most rancid bloodshed because it was what he was taught, and rewarded for. He was created to be murder incarnate, so any other emotions (love, empathy, etc) were shunned until Joel was either incapable of it, or refused to show it.

Except something happened. He got betrayed, usurped, and infected with the aforementioned brainworms which led to his memory loss. What did remain, even as he escaped the ship keeping him captive, even as he joined up with other infected survivors, was... A primal need. Like it was coded in his DNA, like it was in his blood itself: he had a need to kill. Not just kill, but spread misery, spread pain, and acquire power at any cost. He mostly unleashes those urges onto his enemies, but it never feels like enough. Like a scratch he can't quite itch. Of course, that's all Bhaal trying to reel him back in, Bhaal trying to reclaim him.

But like clockwork - because such ingrained training doesn't go away no matter how much one thinks they forgot - he finds himself relishing in it. In the violence of it all. The only time he feels truly alive is when he's covered in blood and gut.

... That is, until he finds himself growing closer and closer to Jimmy. After a night where Jimmy, desperately trying to hide his very obvious identity as a vampire but also desperately hungry, tries to feed off of Joel, and reveals his secret... Well, Joel had all rights to kill him right then and there. He reasons that there's no fun in killing someone so helpless but in truth there's something a bit charming about Jimmy. He's earnest, and he's just so... Not exactly innocent, but also sort of? He gives Joel to urge to protect him. To hold him so tight and close as to choke him. But in a sweet way. Probably.

Joel won't be able to put it into words for a long while yet, half because he refuses to let himself feel such things because he's so horrifically repressed. He was the only one at camp who didn't even guess Jimmy was a vampire before the big reveal because he's got negative int and wis (his strategy in battle is just hit things hard before they can hit you and honestly it works most of the time) so he'd just never noticed the obvious signs. Anyway. Because his blood is the tastiest and somehow he's one of the companions who acts the least weird about it, which really says a lot, Jimmy ends up mostly feeding off of him. And, well, something about letting your homie regularly suck blood out of your neck is bound to lead to something more. Joel becomes a bit possessive of his little birdie.

When Joel learns that he's Bhaal's special little princess, in truth he's fucking elated, because he spends weeks torturing himself in an attempt to remember who he is, what he's doing, what's wrong with him - and he's finally afforded answers. He leans fully into it. He's so happy to serve his God with bloodshed.

Until he's faced with him. With Bhaal. And after Joel committed countless atrocities (which the rest of their group didn't mind that much as lokgi as they stayed in the clear. They're all bad people) bhaal asks him to shed one last bit of blood before receiving his blessing, before becoming his chosen, he who will enact the murder God's plans. He needs to get rid of his pesky earthly desires and affections. They have no place within murder incarnate. He asks Joel to flat out kill Jimmy or die right here and then.

You'd think Joel would hesitate with how intensely pro-Bhaal he is. You'd think it would be a difficult decision. Jimmy would have thought too. Except that Joel's response is instant and intense. He tells Bhaal to go literally fuck himself, that he'd rather kill every last Bhaalspawn and make sure his bloodline ends with him, rather than lay a finger on Jimmy. Jimmy, whose helped his heavy heart feel so light and free. Jimmy, who makes him feel true warmth. Jimmy, who makes Joel want to appreciate every sunset, every breeze, every breath of fresh air. Jimmy, who treats Joel as so much more than a bloodthirsty beast.

Joel never thought he would want to be anything more than a bloodthirsty beast.

So of course Bhaal kills him because he's literally a god. Right in front of Jimmy. (there's plot and dnd magic that brings him back but it's definitely the culmination of his arc; that Joel, groomed to become murder incarnate, was given an opportunity to find another meaning to his life)

I understand why Diego was blaming Phoenix. What else was he supposed to do? He got out of a hell, and immediately found himself in a new one.

- If he blamed only himself, he would not have survived. - He definitely can't blame Mia for not ask Phoenix for help. She is the victim and his love. - And he can't blame the killer. Mia has already thrown him into a prison. He's not available, so this is useless. - There remains only Phoenix. Well, Diego had a strong antipathy towards him anyway. Even without his involvement in hiding the poison, Phoenix is still a stranger who is in Mia's place and role.

The most common act in his situation is the revenge. But he was deprived of it because the justice prevailed without him. And he woke up alone. I know the game doesn't talk about it, but do you understand that if Mia had told Phoenix and Maya about Diego, the plot wouldn't have happened, right? Ironically, Maya and Phoenix still became his reason to live. He got up in the mornings to hate Phoenix and protect Maya. Was it right? Well, this coping strategy saved his life, so yeah, I guess.

You know, I think Mia and Diego are very similar. I'm sure that Mia was investigating Redd White alone because she was afraid that the tragedy would happen again. She blamed herself for Fawles's death, and she certainly blamed herself for Diego's coma. I think Diego and Mia both prefer to silently suffer alone, be strong and feel guilty about things they have no control over. And they both need retribution. Mia chased the people who ruined her life until her death. Diego, on the other hand, did not have the opportunity to imprison his enemies legally, so his pain became destructive.

Important detail. 1) Diego is a self-confident person and believes that he could protect Mia. He projects it onto Phoenix. But does it make sense? Does he think Phoenix is cool like him? No. Does he think everyone should be cool? No, in the game, he said many times that a person makes mistakes and this is normal. It looks like a cover, not a real projection. For example, when Phoenix accused Luke Atmey (case about the stolen urn) that he hid the DeMasque's calling card from the police and did not seek help.

2) Diego after the coma is really self-confident or..? Diego is not focusing on Mia's death in this dialogue. And not even on a revenge. He says Phoenix didn't care. That was what angry him the most. Phoenix looked happy while Diego suffere. And more importantly, Diego blamed himself, and believed that in his place it would have been so with everyone (good adequate people), including Phoenix. But he mistaken. I'm pretty sure Diego is clinically depressed, Phoenix is not. And Diego doesn't realize it. Or doesn't want to, I’m sure that his doctors warned him that he falls into the category of risk. Ironically, when he was a defence attorney, he must have encountered a victims of crime who felt irrational guilt, and this must have resented him. Now he's in their place. I don't think Diego can be a defence attorney again, by the way. Survivors victims often become prosecutors, because they want to fight criminals (this happened to Miles too, even his attitude towards defence attorneys has changed). They lack the kindness and faith to protect a potential killer because they have a trauma. And they have a lot more empathy for the victim and their family

Even Phoenix could not stand this pity party of self-blaming! (skip)

I'm not sure that Phoenix is a more reliable person than you or Maya's mother, but ok. The fact that you ask for help TWO people for safety is already very good. Who knew they'd screw up? Well, okay, all three of you closed eyes to the opportunity to get more allies, and it's clear why. Diego, Iris and Misty feel guilty. They was afraid to speak directly to Maya (+phoenix in case of iris), and therefore prefered to protect her in secret. They are ready to die for her, but not to talk. They wouldn't even dare to tell Pearl the cruel truth about her mother. Depressed idiots. And one more thing. Maya has never visited Diego in the hospital and doesn't even know he exists. He felt abandoned. He obviously doesn't blame her for this, but I'm not surprised he avoids her.

It's hard to live without sweet fantasy... Well, realising of mistakes is certainly good, but I would prefer the consent to visit a psychotherapist

Umm, yes, it's easy to do when you see your mentor at every court trial.

Yeeey, he approved Phoenix as her heir! ...and put him on a pedestal because he hates himself. I find it insanely amusing that Diego's only completed arc wasn't about overcoming his mental injuries, It’s was about his relates to Phoenix. About acceptance of him. This is the most phoenix-centric character in the entire game! After von Karma siblings who always ignore him, it's very flattering... (I love it) Bonus
