Sebtember Challenge #2: Surprise Hug Attack!

Throwing it back to 2017 at Silverstone where Mark Webber interviewed Sebastian for Channel 4. When the interview ended, Mark decided to attack Seb with a big bear hug and we were treated to this glorious footage. 🥰🥰🥰

Sebastian Debeste (Yumihiko Ichiyanagi) is a beloved loser from the second title in the Ace Attorney Investigations series. He is very honestly a highlight from this already great game and his writing is extremely well balanced (and a better version of some AA5 guy). He is both a lovable idiot and an endearing, tragic character. Yes, with this face. I have drawn him a lot because of the SEBtember challenge created by someone who blorbifies him even more than I do.

Courier is my babygirl :) Weeeee! His important role in Akudama Drive makes him an unforgettable character. Although I was convinced I was going to dislike him when I started watching the anime, he turned out extremely lovable... somehow because there's something so earnest about him. Despite the role he plays in the story and the importance of his relationship to women, his writing is devoid of romance and that's a huge appeal to me. Perhaps my love for Akudama Drive will skew some votes towards him?

I had to re-do this poll because I'm not 100% sure I picked "1 week" and tumblr won't let you see the duration of your queued polls 🤪

2. Betrayal 9. Manipulation 19. Paralyzed

It was this time of the year when Klavier remembered. When the trees turned pretty golden and red colours and painted the roads with their leaves. It was then when Klavier would tear away the previous month from the calendar and freeze when he saw it spell out “October”.

This wasn’t an unexpected turn of events. October would always follow after Sebtember. Klavier was even anticipating it. Like he was anticipating April or July. Except, for some reason, October seemed to be always more than Klavier could ever prepare for. It brought every single memory back, crushing Klavier and paralyzing him.

It was just like at that trial.

And wasn’t it just the lie of the seven years? There was no such things as “easy trials” when it came to Wright. When it came to... Kristoph.

"It’ll be an easy trial to test the new system.”

“The defendant is guilty. Most likely.”

Or maybe Kristoph saw everything as easy. Like he probably hoped that the Gramarye trial would be. Like he made it seem in the end. Like he made Klavier believe.

It was still a shock. To realise for the first time that you’ve been a puppet and you get to meet the puppeteer. It was paralyzing. The second realisation, knowing that you were still a puppet, just in the hands of another puppeteer, that one was a little funny. To be a doll along with your dear defense attorney played first by the man you thought loved you and then by the man you thought was crooked.

Klavier had to wonder. Did Kristoph feel as betrayed as he did? Or was he just angry he couldn't use Klavier anymore?

Klavier also had to wonder if all of it could've been avoided. Because it all seemed so obvious now, looking back and looking for every little thing, every little hint that this was about to happen...

But Klavier is brought back to present with his alarm going off for the second time today. He unfreezes after what feels like just a moment but has actually cost him 30 minutes. He'd be late if he started making breakfast now. Oh well.

Sebtember Challenge #29: Suicidal Seagulls

During the 2016 Canadian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel had an encounter with a pair of seagulls at Turn 1. After the race, he barged in on Simon Lazenby’s interview with Lewis Hamilton just to vent his frustration out on them about the matter. 🤣

At a press conference in Abu Dhabi after Jenson Button won the 2009 World Championship title, Sebastian Vettel asked Jenson if he will be getting married soon, causing the Brit to mistake his comment for a marriage proposal.

Sebtember Challenge #7: Learning a Bit of Mexican

Number 7 for The Iceman! ❄️💙

In 2015, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen learnt how to prepare for their first Mexican Grand Prix under Esteban Gutiérrez’s wings. They learn about the language, food, music and the culture of Mexico through him. My favourite segment is where Esteban teaches the two Ferrari teammates about how to pronounce Mexican words and phrases.

Now, it’s Seb and Charles’ turn!

Sebastian teaches Charles Leclerc some German. For non-German speakers, it translates to “You have beautiful eyes”. Preeeety sure that was aimed at Charles; intentional or not.

That lightbulb moment when Charles translates the phrase into French, as if he thought to himself: Ooooh, that’s what it means! 😳 Okay, cool, umm…th-thanks Seb. ☺️ I bet he blushed a little bit too~

Sebastian shows off his impressive knowledge of how many World Champions Ferrari have had while Charles Leclerc tries (and fails) to best him. Sebtember Challenge #6: Guitar Hero

After the 2010 British Grand Prix, Sebastian tried his hand at playing guitar for the first time to a live audience. He played a couple of bars of Deep Purple’s ‘Smoke on the Water’. His announcement before playing cracks me up:

Seb: “Don’t expect too much! First of all, I’m German. Secondly, I’m not good at playing the guitar!”

The following year, at the same venue at Silverstone, Seb played the same song again in front of an audience where he noticeably improved. His quip before playing returned:

Seb: I’ll tell you, if I’m rubbish, it’s not my fault. It’s the guitar’s fault! …So come off with the excuses!”

The look on Christian Horner’s face when Seb gets the right chords on the first try is priceless!

Will we see Seb the rockstar anytime soon? 🤔

Sebtember Challenge #18: Master of Impressions

As some of you may know, Sebastian is pretty good at accents and impressions, and there’s a lot of compilation videos online that showcase his talents. The one I’m about to show you happened fairly recently.

At the Autosport Awards in December last year, the hosts basically trap Sebastian into doing an impression of an F1 driver before he’s allowed to leave the stage. Apparently, Seb only does impressions when he has a lot to drink, so…

There’s also a bit where Sebastian wonders if he got his sidepod back after it had been through the auction.

Sebtember Challenge #3: Word Association Game

Number 3 for the Honey Badger! 🍯🦡💜

Back in 2014, Sebastian and Daniel Ricciardo played the Word Association Game. The aim is to guess the word associated with a country on the race calendar, then link that word with another word associated with it, and so on. (e.g. Brazil > Rain > Liquid)

You can find them all on YouTube. I love the Singapore round the most, which I’ve edited and GIFed!
