Imagine thinking you're hot shit for thinking of gritty Scooby-Doo when Zombie Island is right there. I'm not even trying to be pithy, it just actually had the gang split up and working jobs and struggling. It balanced the original medium with its creep into horror. Imagine getting rid of Infinity Train but keeping this. Dear god.

Scooby Doo Zombie Island Thoughts
- I like the idea that Daphne believes in ghosts and its Fred and Velma that are the skeptics.
- This is also one of two times skeptic Velma is done right. Other times (especially in the new movies/shows) she's obnoxious.
- Scooby is the worst houseguest imaginable and the gang are bad...owners? Friends?
- I think Simone decided to kill them after Scooby wrecked her yard. She was gonna let them go up until that happened.
- Part of the problem with Scooby's character in this, is that the writers lean too heavily on his dog traits.
- I like Velma and the detective together, romantically or platoniclly. Alternate universe where he joins the gang and they all solve mysteries together.
- The scary stuff was genuinely scary to child me. Now it's creepy but not scary.
- The pirates were not innocent victims. They literally murdered nearly an entire population of people and left only two sole survivors.
- Also this is the first (and possibly only) Scooby Doo movie to feature bona fide serial killers.

If I'm understanding the movie right, Lena and Simone from Scooby Doo Zombie island started off killing murderous pirates then confederate soldiers to drawing in (presumably ) innocent tourists.
If so, its the hero long enough be the villain thing.
Hell the confederate soldiers and the pirates try warning peoole.
I watched this movie as a 4 year old!
What a Cinematic masterpiece.
