Star Gazing

Quietly i slid out of the bed, Leaving the warm blankets behind. Silently I tiptoed up to the roof, Into the wintry night. I pulled the shawl tighter around me, As I spread the seldom-used mat. I sat down softly on it, To gaze up at the star-studded sky. Star-gazing always calms my chaotic world, For once,my loud mind is silenced. Insecurities,fear and pent-up anger melt away. The monsters inside my head stop taunting me then. I stare at the diamond-sprayed skies, As I admire the overwhelming beauty. I watch the city lights along the horizon, As they shyly kiss the black night. Nature had always been a best friend, Her lonely beauty ever soothing. As a child,the stars heard my whispered wishes, Now the night hears all the untold tales. And I know that a decade from now, Things will not be the same anymore. Everything will change,so will everyone i know. I shan't perhaps even stay in this place then. Maybe I shall be the girl in a cafe, Sipping her espresso, Vintage dress,pretty shoes,winged eyeliner, Laughing with her friends by some unknown street in Paris. Or perhaps I shall be that girl, With rebellious blue hair and a sweater on, Photographing the sunset, Through the windows of the Red Fort. Or perhaps I shall stay in this city, One can never predict the future with certainty. But what I know for sure is that, Even a decade later,come what may, The night shall always find the same girl, Starting up at the never ending skies. pink-black-life12 This got published in my school mag :)
