stars hollow au: Midge dancing with Richard and Lenny dancing with Emily at an event.
(Let's call this season 7 of Gilmore Girls)
"Emily Gilmore is staring at you like you are a slab of meat," Midge giggles as she whispers to Lenny.
They'd been talked into attending this charity function by Lorelai, who couldn't go, but needed someone to fill in with her parents, and so here they are, dressed elegantly, sipping cocktails and enjoying finger food, after giving a generous donation.
Lenny chuckles softly. "I'm seventeen years older than she is, I highly doubt she's looking at me that way."
"Go ask her to dance," Midge smiles.
"What? No. Emily Gilmore hates us. We're circus freaks, remember?" Lenny reminds her.
"She allowed us to come to this very fancy party," Midge points out. She nudges him. "Come on. Go be friendly. I'll even go ask Richard."
Lenny snorts. "He's taller than I am, it'd be like a T-Rex dancing with a tiny kitten."
"Then you'll have a laugh," Midge shrugs.
Lenny shakes his head and gets to his feet, taking a sip of his drink before wandering over. "Evening, Emily. Very nice party."
"Why thank you, Leonard. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself," Emily tells him cooly. "And thank you for that wonderful donation."
"Well, libraries have a special place in my heart," he tells her. "You uh...you wanna dance?"
Emily blinks. "Well I..."
"Come on, Richard," Midge says, popping up at Richard's side. "Let's go cut a rug while they do."
"Well, I...I suppose," Richard shrugs. "I've never danced with a celebrity before."
"First time for everything!"
Lenny shakes his head and turns to Emily, lifting an eyebrow. "So?"
Emily sighs. "Well. Alright."
He escorts her onto the dance floor and they begin to dance. When he glances over at Richard and Midge he has to laugh a little.
"What?" Emily asks, perplexed.
Lenny nods over. "Midge doesn't wear high heels too much anymore, and it's working against her."
Emily glances over and chuckles softly. "She is tiny."
"One of the many things I love about her," Lenny tells her.
Emily nods. "It's nice. That you two are so in love. As much as I'm not exactly a fan of Lorelai's decision to stay in Stars Hollow, it's...nice. That she had the two of you as role models."
"Never been called a role model before," Lenny ponders. "A sick degenerate, but never a role model."
"Like Midge said, there's a first time for everything," Emily comments. She stays quiet for a moment. "You see Lorelai and Christopher quite a bit, don't you?"
Lenny shrugs. "We uh...some. Not as much as we used to when Lorelai was single. Or with Luke."
"Why is that?"
"Well...Christopher is uh..."
"Go on. You can say it."
"A schmuck," Lenny tells her immediately. "A putz. He's immature, and he's not good for Lorelai."
Emily stays quiet for a long, long moment before sighing heavily. "I hate that you're right."
Lenny blinks. "I'm right?"
"Of course you are," Emily tells him. "He treats her terribly. When Richard was in the hospital, he didn't show up until after his surgery was over, and Lorelai was calling him all day."
"Well...I guess they were in a fight..."
"Oh, please, if you and Midge were arguing, and you found out her father was in the hospital-"
"I'd be there in seconds," Lenny nods, his voice grim. "I mean, I loved Midge's father, he was great."
"Richard is great. Christopher likes Richard. They smoke cigars together." Emily shakes her head. "I feel so foolish. All these years I've been dreaming of the two of them finally pulling themselves together. And now that they have..."
"They're no good for each other," Lenny finishes. "It's okay to feel foolish about these kinds of things. We're parents, we like to think we know what's best for our kids, but the real truth is they know what's best for them. Especially when they get to be adults."
"I suppose," Emily sighs. "You're not just saying all this because you liked Lorelai better with Luke, are you?"
"God no," Lenny snorts. "I mean, I love Luke like he's one of my own, but he was a fucking-"
"Leonard."
"-Frigging - idiot. Pushing Lorelai away. Leaving her hanging with the wedding. It was all him. She wanted to marry that guy and he fu-fudged it all up. I think it was stupid of her to get back with Christopher, but it's hard to feel surprised when she was so hurt."
Emily nods, staying quiet.
Lenny glances over, watching Richard spin Midge, and laughs.
Emily grins to herself. "It's actually hilarious."

They all said the band could continue depending of which member would leave. Rammstein sound is Paul, Flake and Oliver first, lyrics and voice, Till. I believe if Schneider or Richard left, the band could continue with new members. Most famous riffs are from Paul after all, and the slow songs are from Oliver. Many guitarists could do as much as a good job as Richard and I doubt the majority of the public would notice outside the fandom. From Flake himself : depend on who's leaving.
Hi 👋 (
Wow, ok, there's a lot to unpack here. I'll try to work my way through it. (This is long, and I don't expect anyone to really read this.) I have to admit, I was a little taken aback when I opened this ask. In my opinion, it is strange and quite presumptuous for an outsider and a person who has no part whatsoever in the creative process of this band, to presume to be able to assess who in the band is dispensable. Following the logic of your thought process, in the sense of "many guitarists could do as much as a good job as Richard", you are discrediting any creative input and output this man has ever done in Rammstein, Emigrate and any band he was in before. That seems pretty unfair to the founder of a band you seem to like. (And interesting that once again the criticism is aimed at Richard - this man gets that from fans quite often...). Schneider also seems to find no mercy in your eyes and seems replaceable to you.
What I'm missing in your overall thought process, which looks at the matter from a purely technical point of view, is the interpersonal relationship between the members, the creative influence on one another, the support, the exchange of ideas between them which brings up new ones - all these factors which play a role in making the music what it ist.
I also find the statement that the quiet songs are from member x and the riffs from member Y too simple. Rammstein always emphasize how much of a democratic system they are, it's well known how many influences go into the songs. Sure, many components of the songs come from ideas of the individual members, and yet I think your statement is too short-sighted, that's not how songwriting works at Rammstein (something Richard also had to learn). A few examples that show how diverse the influences in the creative processes of the songs are:
In the song 'Engel', a riff from the song 'Be up to know' by Orgasm Death Gimmick is used - Richard's old band.
The song 'Mutter' dates way back - a first instrumental version was found on a demo tape by Richard from 1994. He himself mentioned he wrote this song for a wedding.
The song 'Heirate mich' reuses a riff from the song 'Klaus Kinski' by the Magdalene Keibel Combo, Flake's and Paul's old duo. Another riff which dates back to this Combo is used in 'Herzeleid'.
A little example for the band's creative instrumental process in a song: In 'Los', Till plays the harmonica, Olli couldn't stand it, Paul liked it and fought hard for it. Schneider contributed a lot to the aesthetic of the song with his blues guitar skill.
For 'Du hast', Flake and Richard largely contributed - the song is build on synth sequence by Flake and a riff by Richard.
The musical idea from 'Mein Teil' comes from Paul.
'Wilder Wein' was written musically and lyrically by Till (to impress the ladies).
A big joint project of the band was 'Deutschland', based on a demo tape by Richard, who was thinking of his family when writing the song.
While this wonderful post (@namelessrammgirl sure has a way with words 🤍) today listed what each band member contributes to the band, I'd also like to let the guys speak for themselves on the subject of the band ending and leaving - as we all know this has been a recurring theme:
Richard doesn't totally believe that the band can function if one member leaves. However, he says that looking back at music history, something like this always works, but the old chemistry is no longer there. He is very open about the fact that he would be ready for something other than Rammstein and would try out new things. He also talks about a rule within the group that if one of them quits, they continue to participate financially - so the subject of leaving (not only for Richard, who has often entertained this idea) was probably a general topic in the band. [source]
"As long as we feel that the ship is still sailing and the port has not yet been reached, we will continue. But if we were to enter a port, I wouldn't be sad." This statement comes from Paul. "We haven't talked specifically about an end yet, but we are aware of the fact that Rammstein is a finite story, even if there is no plan for it yet." This statement is from Schneider. [source] Both make it clear that Rammstein will come to an end for them at some point, Paul also mentions in this interview that the untitled album contains "truly a lot of blood, sweat and tears, anger and stress", Richard mentions that his ideas, even though he got on really well with Paul, were criticized a lot - as you can see, things are always bubbling in this band. It's not a question of who can do what technically well, there's a lot of interpersonal stuff at play here, which makes the band uniquely successful and the work in it uniquely difficult.
So while we shouldn't look at everything through rose-tinted glasses, the potential issue of 'who leaves the band and how do they move on afterwards' should absolutely and only be a matter for the people involved. We as fans should, in fact, be happy and grateful that after 30 years, internal conflicts, accusations and a terrible year 2023, this band still manages to work together, give us tours and unique music. It's always easy to moan and make suggestions for improvement - but in my opinion, it's not at all helpful.

Orkus - 2000
Thank to ramjohn for the scans!
Rammstein have retreated to the truly flat country to work on their long-awaited third studio album: In Mol, Belgium, there are only meadows, cows — and one of the most modern studios in Europe.
"We didn't come here entirely voluntarily," Schneider admits to the handful of German and English journalists who came to the Belgian hinterland on the weekend of the EM final to find out about the progress of activities for the Rammstein album, working title ‘Mutter’, which is expected at the beginning of next year  — to be informed. “Our engineer Jacob Hellner, who was also responsible for the last two albums, is tied to the Galaxy Studios. The technical possibilities here are fantastic and the working atmosphere is great, but there is hardly any variety.” But that's easy to imagine, because the complex, which is just under an hour and a half from Brussels Airport, is literally on a green field: Mol is a small village with maybe fifty low-rise family houses that look like a cross between the sample catalog of the local builders' merchant and the clinker brick building of the North German lowlands. English lawns, psychedelic splendor of roses, strictly trimmed boxwood and garden gnomes included. The large, blue clinker building rises almost like a foreign body between gardens and pastures with strangely pig-like, colorless cows. Illustrious guests like the Guano Apes, dEUS, Die Krupps or Such A Surge have worked here, as have Joan Osborne, Lauryn Hill and the Kelly Family. Olli's old mobile home seems a bit out of place in the parking lot of the high-tech sound company. “Tomorrow we're going back to Berlin,” he says happily. “Then on to Japan, where we will play the old program for the last time at the Fudji Rock Festival. Then we come back here to finish the mixes.” However, a large part of the album was created in the spring for a good six weeks in a studio in the south of France. "It was fantastic there," Richard recalls, "the studio was idyllically situated in the vineyards, and we were accommodated directly on the property. Till recorded part of the vocals in the living room of his apartment there and we had friends and relatives visiting.” Admittedly, the Berliners didn't do badly with the accommodation in Belgium either: They reside about 20 minutes by car from the studio in the country, house hotel and restaurant 'Hippocampus', which is one of the best in Belgium, which really has a lot of culinary highlights is applicable. "The food here is almost too good," admits Olli. (Which the journalists were able to easily convince themselves of later at dinner in the same restaurant!) “Sometimes we cycle from the hotel to the studio to stay fit.” Not a bad performance at around 14 kilometers one-way.
“Otherwise we replay the EM games and work concentrated on the album.” Despite the grueling production, the guys look fresh and fit, if just a little bit excited: “You're the first to hear some of the new tracks,” says Richard. “We are curious to see what you have to say about it.” In addition to the journalists, representatives from the label's Hamburg and London offices have also arrived — no wonder he's a little nervous. But before the eagerly awaited listening session in the light-wood paneled control room with the estimated five meter long mixing console, a typically Belgian pastime is the order of the day: the studio's own chef has set up a veritable monster buffet — meat, pasta, salads, fish and seafood, for dessert: Belgian chocolates. Fed up and satisfied, journalists and record company staff push their way through the complex's complex corridors to the place of revelation. And they certainly won't be disappointed: three finished pieces and three more in the raw version are blown around their ears in two rounds with studio loudspeakers costing x thousand marks. First impression: breathless. Barring another catastrophe of the magnitude of a total hard disk crash (Hard Disc Recording!), this will be the most fantastic Rammstein album ever. Powerful and aggressive, yet more differentiated than Herzeleid, the new material leans more in the direction of Sehnsucht. ‘Sonne’, the first track, is a super-catchy banger with siren-like female voices in the background and an abrupt end: «Aus». More please! ‘Links’ hits like a bomb: Oskar Lafontaine's famous book title as an obvious dig at all the hostilities of recent years and next to it a puristic song in the best Rammstein manner - except for the bluesy (!) solo. And this piece also ends far too quickly: 'Left, two three four...'. The next track also has a controversial subject: this is about a priest who feels attracted to his young protégés, in proper style with sacred choirs and bells. The three following rough mixes are announced as not yet finished, but they also promise something outstanding: ‘Mein Herz brennt’ is already very epic and reminds a bit of Puff Dandy's famous collaboration with Jimmy Page, here Till acts as a desperate children's fright. With a long, melancholic guitar solo and distinctive string riff, this might be the longest song presented. ‘Feuer frei’ seems the most electronic with its EBM rhythm, but impresses with ultra-fat riffs and crazy guitar effects. But this track also has a short, quiet middle part with noticeable synth sprinklings. "Bang Bang", the end - Rammstein seem to develop a preference for concise closing sentences on this album... Stylized children's babble marks the beginning of the most unusual and lyrically most personal of the songs presented: ‘Mutter’. Melancholic and balladesque, it comes across as a private reckoning with a traumatic, motherless childhood — less aggressive than deeply hurt. Although of course no savings were made on hearty lines of text.
After twice a good twenty minutes it's all over; Still a little dazed, but visibly enthusiastic, the crowd of critics staggers back to the surface. Predicate: particularly valuable — it would have to be hell if Rammstein weren't able to underpin their position as the most influential German band at the turn of the millennium with this album. Although there could still be a few surprises waiting for us between what we have just heard and the finished product: “We will be more varied,” promises Paul and grins, “the album should contain both punk influences and hits.” There still seems to be a lot to come!

the fandom on tumblr compared to the fandom on tiktok is just. so different. idk if its because tumblr is just in general a very unhinged place or what but the difference is outrageous. tiktok is like "oh this member is so hot 🥵🥵" n stuff like that while here on tumblr people are like rabid beasts. another thing too is that on tiktok, the till fans are the unhinged ones while here on tumblr the paul fans are the unhinged ones. i see these stupid edits on tiktok of like till just doing stupid shit and what not (a LOT of till the end and lindemann) while here well... everyone knows how the paul fans act. need to find a platform where its the schneider fans that are the crazy ones. that will be the perfect place just for me ☺️☺️
interesting take, i hope to find more Paul fans on tumblr, it has been a bit quiet (until the tour started ofcourse), so maybe i'll give it another good try after the post-tour blues is over 🌺
Tiktok i basically have for Richard and Rammstein official (the stuff they throw off of instagram but leave in there)
Twitter/X i stopped following a while ago (and never was much in the Rammstein fandom there really)
Instagram i also only follow a couple of blogs, so my view of that os probably very distorted
Reddit...well... let's say i don't 'get' Reddit really?
Facebook i know of some pages, but mostly for the older photos
But indeed: where is Schneider-fans-central?
Anyone know?

@tinnike 's 31 day Idol Challenge
Schneider edition
Tumblr media
Day 13 - Favorite quote.
Not gonna lie this challenge has had me thinking every single day wondering what in the world im going to post for it next and going through tons of videos and photos of Schneider. Its really been a challenge lol
For today... I guess I could say my favorite quote is an inspirational or memorable quote from Schneider, but I would be lying. Reality is my favorite quotes (yes, more than one) are those in which he either speaks simple things in English, or is just being himself. Such as these.
I watched interviews of him, looked at some of his quotes, and i realized I really enjoy when hes just being truthful and simple. Even if it makes him look awkward while doing so in English. I love his this accent. For example:
"No, I cant cook and I dont like cooking shows. I actually do not want to do anything. I dont want to peel potatoes or anything"
Tumblr media
X
I will trust the subtitles and hope he really said that since I have been stuck between A2 and B1 German for like a year and a half now, but I actually laughed when I watched this. Hes just being truthful. I also find it funny how he has been in cooking shows twice now. I cant fully quote the second one. My elementary school German makes me scared that I misunderstood something and will say something he didnt say.
Anyway, on to the next one!
"Hey Tom 🙂"
Tumblr media
X
I really enjoyed this interview. Simple, short, no real cuts, and Schneider speaking English. But out of all the interview my favorite thing he said, and its the most simple thing in the world, is the way in which he just greeted Tom.
I dont know why it is I love that. I just do. I cant explain that.

46. What happens if I do this? - Richard Kruspe x Paul Landers
“Anyone seen Richard?” Paul asks, when he walks into their rehearsal room. At first nobody looks up and Paul sighs.
They had a hard rehearsal today and the last fight had been rather loud. So loud that Till had left the room for a bit and apparently Richard had walked out as well. Paul had just been to the toilet so he missed most of the stuff.
“Nah, probably outside,” Schneider answers and only then does he look up.
“Maybe you should put that down before he comes back,” Olli says now and Paul looks down. He’s not sure what he’s talking about.
“What?”
“The Guitar. Put it down before Richard sees you with it,” Schneider says and Paul laughs a bit. He had seen the guitar outside in the hallway and he had thought that maybe Richard would look for it.
Lately he leaves his stuff everywhere and then forgets about it.
“Why? It’s not like I will break it. Maybe you don’t know that but I’m a guitarist too, I know how to hold them without breaking them, unlike some of you,” Paul says and he looks at Flake, who holds up his middle finger.
Paul laughs loudly.
Flake had broken his guitar only once, but Paul loves to remind of it as often as he can.
“Maybe I will play on it,” Paul says, even though that’s mostly an empty threat. He doesn’t really like the guitars Richard uses, same as Richard doesn’t like to play on his own. They’re very different with their guitars and that’s fine. But it could be fun to annoy Richard.
“I wouldn’t do that,” Schneider says but it seems like he doesn’t really care anymore. Paul sits down on his usual chair and waits, while he carefully strokes over Richard’s guitar.
They really need to finish this damn song today.
Luckily just then he can hear Richard and Till talking loudly. Means they are coming back and they could continue to play.
“Guys where the fuck is my guitar!?” Richard yells from the hallway. Schneider looks towards Paul as if he wants to say ‘I told you so’. Paul ignores him on purpose, but he does duck when Schneider throws a drumstick at him.
“I got it!” Paul yells back before Richard would get a heart attack.
Richard and Till walk back into the room at the same time. Till looks rather relaxed now and he even sits down next to Flake, even though half an hour ago he had yelled at him. That’s a good sign.
Richard walks over to Paul.
“Give her back,” Richard says and holds his hands out. Paul pretends to think about that really hard, before he shakes his head.
“Nah, I think I’ll keep her. She’s rather nice,” Paul answers. He can see how surprised Flake and Schneider look at that. Probably worried he’d start the next fight like this.
“What? No, come on Paul. I need her,” Richard answers and it’s almost a whine. Paul leans further away and shakes his head.
“Maybe I play on her now,” Paul says and he puts his right hand right over the guitar strings. He can see how Richard’s eyes widen. They all know that Richard never allows anyone to play his guitars.
They’re his babies.
“Paul,” Schneider says now and it’s a clear warning.
“Just give her back, we wanna continue,” Ollie says, but Paul had always been good at ignoring them.
“What happens if I do this?” Paul asks and then presses his fingertips right against the guitar strings. It makes a quiet sound.
“Oh you don’t wanna find out!” Richard answers, he looks a bit angry.
Paul doesn’t care.
He starts to play “Heirate mich” and looks directly at Richard. He only plays for a few seconds and then stops again.
It’s so quiet in the room.
“You know what I want in exchange for the guitar,” Paul says.
Richard sighs loudly and then leans down to kiss Paul on his lips.
“I hate you,” Richard says but he’s smiling. Paul happily gives him the guitar back now. Still in one piece, of course. Richard happily takes his guitar and then sits back down on his own seat.
Paul realizes they are all looking at them, only Till isn’t. He’s smiling at Richard.
“What the fuck just happened?” Flake asks then.
“I kissed my boyfriend, because he thought he was being a silly idiot,” Richard says and he smiles softly at Paul, who winks at him.
“Your - what?” Schneider wants to know and Paul laughs loudly. That’s not exactly how they wanted to tell the others, but he doesn’t really mind. Each of Richard’s kisses would be worth any trouble.
Not that he thinks they really are in trouble.
“Holy fuck congratulations,” Schneider says then and Till nods towards them with his glass of water. He’d already known but Paul knows Till is glad that Richard finally found his happiness.
Olli holds his hands up for a high-five, while Flake congrats them as well.
“But just so you know, you touch my guitar again and I’ll cut your dick off,” Richard says then and he pretends to actually clean his guitar from Paul’s fingerprints.
“That would hurt yourself as well, you love my dick,” Paul answers and promptly gets smacked by Schneider.
“We don’t need to know that,” Schneider grumbles but he smiles.
Paul smiles. Forgotten is the earlier fight about the new song. Everyone seems happy and when Richard looks at him, Paul makes sure to blow him another kiss.
Richard, the dork, catches it.
