I want to so badly support #SaveWarriorNun, but I have already tried with Wynonna Earp, then Motherland: Fort Salem, and then First Kill, and now I’m just so tired of not getting the queer content renewed, I’m burnt out, I can’t handle all the rejection anymore- I put so much effort into these things just for nothing and now I can’t anymore

Okay… I waited ‘til they released the post-episode video before I did this post, and I’m so glad I did. It put some stuff in perspective.
WARNING: This post will contain spoilers of MFS 3x01. So if you didn’t want to be spoiled, click away now. But if you’re as insane as me and want to read some mad ramblings, sit back and relax. If you’ve read my previous posts, you know I could go on and on.. (I’ve started already, look at that. Lol)
Anyway… Let’s get started, shall we?
I’ll skip the opening scene, and get back to that later.
So first off, we find out that our beloved fugitives are “trying” to blend in with the dodgers. They work at this paper factory that functions as a cover-up for the dodger community. We see Tally ever so hard at work… Abigail as cool as ever, and Nicte in disguise. Then of course, we have our two troublemakers “working” by themselves. I’m so not surprised. Lol. I’m so hyped! Not even five minutes into the episode and we get a Raylla make-out session! This show just keeps on giving, I swear. If this is really the final season (which I’m still praying that it won’t be), then this scene is a nice homage to the first ever wlw pair to have a hot sesh in the very first episode of the first season. No slow burn, just straight on fire and explosion.
Tumblr media
Look at them! These bunnies, seriously… They’re in honeymoon phase. And that last pic, when someone just passed by in a bathrobe— this makes me think Raylla has been caught so many times by other people there that they’re not even surprised anymore. Look at their faces, no shame whatsoever. In my head, people are probably betting on who can catch Raylla making out the most, or where is the most outrageous place they’ve caught Raylla making out in. Lol. I live for this!
If this was a regular factory, Raylla would be fired a long time ago for slacking off and also for work misconduct, hahaha. Meanwhile, we have Tally who’s employee-of-the-month material… Abigail who still stands in attention like a soldier… Adil who’s just there… and Nicte, who’s basically done with it all. Nicte’s expression, lol.
Tumblr media
And another subtle Raylla moment in that third pic… While Raelle is being her clueless self, Scylla is staring at her. It’s everything, omg.
Then, not long after that… we have another moment. Raylla being bunnies once again… and then a cute Adigail kiss… and then, Tally the fifth wheel.
Tumblr media
Tally, my poor baby is feeling alone. She still heavily feels the guilt of what happened to Penelope… still thinking of Alder’s passing… and just basically feeling trapped in their situation. She’s so pure. She’s torn between wanting to stay united in the unit’s decision not to change faces and wanting to keep the dodgers safe. While I’m glad she has Nicte training her and pushing her to the limits, I’m still a little bit on the fence about Nicte. Nicte has too much hate in her and the world, and she admits she’s still not at peace even with Alder’s “death”. It makes me think what is it really that she’s after. She’s already had her “revenge” on Alder. She could literally step back now… but she’s still helping Tally and others. What is her endgame? But anyway, she’s a good mentor… Tally is slowly working up to her greatest potential.
Back to a lighter topic… we meet another ex of Scylla.
Tumblr media
All their expressions are gold! Haha. The moment this Vira grabbed hold of Scylla’s face for a kiss (very similar to the way Raelle does it), Raelle was just like ???. For a self-proclaimed badass, she was full on loading… She didn’t even stake her claim! Lol.
Then you have Scylla guilty face with fidgety fingers… tsk tsk. How many more exes you got, Ramshorn? (If they get to the Cession, I hope we have an encounter with any ex of Raelle. I feel like Scylla would be the one who’s gonna react more. She just got back in to Raelle’s good graces. She would definitely not want any ex to take Raelle away from her.)
Then, there’s Tally with that “awkward” expression… and Abigail standing up for them… It’s subtle but I know she did it for her shitbird. That tomato comment just about had me, too, hahaha. And if you didn’t notice, Tally stole a celery off Raelle’s plate when Scylla and Vira came back. It’s such a Tally thing to do, lol.
Meanwhile, in the other side, the army has bigger problems. Just as they thought that they finally have a solution for the witch plague, this weird (witch-plague like) rain happened—almost like “something” is preventing the vaccination from happening. But that song being sung… that was what Penelope was singing in the church before. And that quote “I suppose it’s a little late for me”—definitely Penelope. We all know that every witch who dies isn’t really gone. They go “back” to the mycelium as collective beings of dead witches powers. Penelope died being the source of the witch plague. This could either be really bad or really good for the witches. I’m curious to see how this all ties together.
Tumblr media
And then we have MamaCostia! Still a badass, and doing excellent work with Sterling. Now, she’s recruited M! I’m so happy M is getting some screen time. It broke my heart seeing them talk about their coven, Sekhmet. They really do care for the coven, it gives them purpose.
Scylla, take notes on proper espionage. Haha. Don’t wear too many colourful clothes. Don’t enter from the front door, where everyone can see you. And definnitely, don’t blow your cover! This is how you gather intel. Lol. Seriously though, M was the right person for this. I’m looking forward to this new tandem of M and Anacostia.
Now we know that the Camarilla are gonna try and poison the mycelium. I’m feeling anxious for Raelle, who’s basically an extension of the mycelium. I don’t believe the Camarilla knows about this connection yet, but if they do, they’re gonna go after Raelle again. She better not die, or I’m gonna riot!
Then, Adigail… I have mentioned this before way back in season 2. The Camarilla tried to annihilate the Tarim (earthwork), and they actively hunted the Bellweathers (weatherwork). Alban Hearst mentioned the union of earth and sky must be prevented at all cost. Adigail together is definitely a force to be reckoned with, but they just haven’t realised it as they don’t know about it. But think back on Jem Bellweather, the most powerful Bellweather with works that no one in the Bellweather line had been able to replicate…yet. Could she have been an offspring of an earth-mover and a storm-bringer? Or maybe she was involved with an earth-mover? Either way, I’m excited to know more about this. Earth and sky, such a classic… *Clexa, ahem*
Btw, Adil is such an adorable dork… Did he really just propose? While they’re on the run as fugitives??
Tumblr media
Also, I’m glad Abigail managed to talk to her mother. She seemed so lost without her. Ashley’s acting was top notch in that last scene, you can see her eye shining with so much emotion. Scylla made this happen. Who needs a phone when you’ve got Spree-facetime? Hahaha.
Everyone’s dynamics with each other really shows in this episode. Really, such a talented cast.
The unit bond is still so strong, and it helps that they’re all friends in real life because it really shows the chemistry. And the most developed is Abigail and Scylla. They went from snarky responses and barely even looking at each other, to now exchanging compliments and smiles. We all know it meant a lot for Abigail that she got to speak to her mum.
Tumblr media
I especially love that Khalida is still the little firecracker. She managed to shut up Nicte with one sentence and a look, lol.
Speaking of, Khalida really is mature for her age. Instead of playing/ mingling with kids her age, she teaches them. She talked about the six witch sisters that started it all.
In the post-episode video, Elliot talked about different factions of witchdom that we have yet to see. He calls the song form the opening scene as the “First Song”. Is the mycelium related to them as well? Because it was mentioned before that it was Alder’s song of grief that birthed the mycelium. Is the mycelium just Fort Salem, or the whole witchdom?? I have so many questions… I really wish we had more seasons to explore all this..
Tumblr media
Then there’s Alder… resurrected? Or the embodiment of the mycelium now? We know that the mycelium liked it when Raelle sang… and then Alder was summoned because someone was singing. Hmm… again, so many questions.
The episode wasn’t as explosive as the last episodes of season 2, but it’s a good setup for the start of season 3. The tone is set.
Also, please let Raylla adopt Tiffany! Look how motherly Scylla is to her. I hope it happens! And now, I’m just thinking… where the hell is Morrigan?
Tumblr media
Anyway, to finish off… here’s another Raylla collage… because why not? Can’t get enough of them. Haha.
Tumblr media
Their chemistry is still otherworldly. Their micro expressions… their little gestures and stares… *chef’s kiss*
We are definitely fed this episode… which makes me think the next episodes will devastate us. Oh well… we’ll have to wait and see.
And that’s it, I guess. Lol. Until my next ramble… bye.

We are Back...
...Back Again!!
Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Other Platforms
After a short hiatus, we are back recapping all the action on season 3 of Motherland Fort Salem! We enjoy a riveting hour of the girls moving boxes around a warehouse and living that not-so-glamourous dodger lifestyle. Raylla are hot and heavy, just how we like them. Adil has a case of the baby-crazies and Abigail isn't totally shooting that idea down.  Tally and Nicte spend quality time on the roof together being sexy and talking about the future (literally). Abigail and Tally team up to ruin it for everyone with their selfish and reckless behavior, as they manage to blow the cover of dozens of dodgers by being super suspicious and leading the authorities right to the secret warehouse. Daddy Dodger is not amused and neither is Scylla. Meanwhile, VP Silver is up to his old tricks alongside Albin Hearst and a new evil blonde lady. What evil plots do they have in store for our witches and the mycellium network, hmmm?  Thankfully we have a clue, thanks to super spy M on the case. Also, Penelope might be back, but in the form of a vengeful rain cloud. Definitely back? Sarah Alder (yeeeeeeeaaaah), freshly sprung from the earth somewhere in Spain and looking better than ever. Buckle up as we navigate the wild ride that season 3 is sure to hold for us. As always, we appreciate you leaving ratings or reviews on iTunes, Spotify and other platforms. Hit us up on Twitter (or Instagram and Tumblr) and talk with us about the show! Well. It was Abigail, which I’m ok with to be honest. It was set up in season 1 really.
Izadora was the fake out.
Anacostia Quartermaine - hell of a witch. (Stomps feet)
The hug? The scream for Alder? I wish to the goddess she’d yelled, “Sarah” instead, but that’s what fanfiction is for.
The minute Anacostia gave that speech to the trio, we turned to look at each other and said, “It’s her.”
And Anacostia did exactly what her mother taught her. What we saw her mother do two episodes ago. She sacrificed herself for the one she loved, for her friends, and for her general. She was her mother’s daughter. And when Sarah says, “My daughter.” we cried right along with her and Tally.
Nicte forming from a swarm of bats? Cool as hell.
ARLEN!!! Finally!
“Anything for you, Sarah.”
“Have you met you?”
“Fun you said?”
I can practically hear the fanfiction now - and we want it all.
This reconciliation between them was long in the making and we would have watched seasons of just that.
I loved that we got to see a bit of humor in Sarah at the end. That we got to see her as a character who wasn’t just hard and fighting, but who got to see her life’s work, her multiple lifetimes’ work, finally completed. That she got to finally rest.
And Sarah hanging out the side of the helicopter as a nod to badass General Sarah Alder and blowing away to join the air of the earth? Amazingly beautiful and so powerful.
“When they call you goddesses, make sure you live up to it.”
Amen.
That was a satisfying ending in many ways for a story that should have had so many more years to develop. It was beautifully woven, it was horribly sad, it was startlingly powerful, but it was also disappointing in ways.
And through this we finally realized that when Sarah sang her piece of the song to save herself in Salem and lost the ability to bear a child as punishment, it was precisely because she was a steward of it. There would be no passing it down in her line. She would have to became the steward of all witches and had to remain alive because her piece of the song could not be passed down. Fate is always planned - destiny is merely how you choose the path towards it. Hers was unknowingly the Accords. When she sang that day, the Mother knew what she would have to do.
And one must trust the Mother.
This has been such an incredible ride and we have met so many wonderful people along the way. Thank you for being the super humans that you are. Thank you for being you. Thank you for letting us be a part of it - now onward to the stories and beautiful art we know will continue. We’re here for it all.

Alder: Saving the Tarim
Some thoughts about Motherland: Fort Salem. Full spoilers for seasons 1 to the end of 3, you are warned. (Sorry this is very long)
Alder never states that her help to the Tarim would come at a price. Adil, and then Khalida, both assume that on their own. All the others nations, including the Council of the Hague, want to weaponize their songs, and Alder is known for weaponizing her own, so it’s not a stretch for them to assume so. Alder simply never answers those assumptions, she only ever proposes her help.
In M:FS s1e03, Alder looks clearly emotional when hearing the recording of the Tarim’s songs and is the only one advocating to let the Tarim be and to not force them into militarization.
In M:FS s1e06, we see that Alder brought Adil and Khalida in Fort Salem for safety and healing. Alder worries about Khalida’s health and Adil’s mental state. Adil is very weary of her motives and immediately assumes the worst:
Adil: “Thank you for bringing us here.”
Alder: “We have the finest Fixers in the world here. You’re in good hands. I will do everything in my power to help.”
Adil: “Once Khalida is well, we won’t trouble you any longer.”
Alder: “You’re welcome here for as long as you need. All of Fort Salem is yours as you see fit. Please, take some time away from the infirmary. The grounds here will nourish your body and your spirit.”
[…]
Alder: “The songs your people sing remind me of those my own family carried for centuries. I would very much like to learn them.”
Adil: “The songs you carried were never meant to be released into the world. […] You made weapons of your own songs.”
Alder: “I defended myself. And made a place for my people.”
Adil: “What kind of place? We will remain the final stewards of our songs.”
Later, in M:FS s1e07, Khalida is healed and has a conversation with Alder:
Alder: “Well, I’m very pleased that we were able to help. I will do everything in my power to protect you and your people.”
Khalida: “You’ve done too much already. What can I do for you?”
Alder: “Teach me your songs, and I will use them to make a better place.”
At this point, Khalida pretends to teach Alder a song, and Alder, again, looks clearly emotional at hearing it. But Khalida attacks Alder, draining her and the plants around them.
Khalida: “Our songs are not safe with you.”
Alder only ever asks for the songs, never demands them in exchange of her help. To both Adil and Khalida, she worries about their well-being, physical and emotional, and promises to do everything in her power to help. Whether it’s a tactical move or she’s being genuine, Alder is only ever portrayed as trying to help the Tarim. Adil and Khalida are the ones who clearly assume she’s making a play for their songs, because because everyone else wants their songs and they know Alder’s history.
Alder wouldn’t even be able to make that deal with the Tarim. Alder is powerful but she’s entirely under the authority of the civilian government, currently led by President Wade, who’s portrayed as anti-witches. Alder has to convince Wade to let the army help the Tarim.
Yet, as soon as Alder gives herself the authority (through puppeting Wade) to go get the Tarim, Khalida accepts Alder’s help. Why? What does this change for Khalida?
Khalida categorically refused Alder’s (or anyone else’s) help, because she refused to share her songs, even if it meant all her tribe dying. Suddenly she changes her mind and accepts Alder’s help.
We can only conclude that Alder promised to save the Tarim without them having to share their songs in exchange.
What can we make of this? What changed?
There’s a lot of politician talk, this aspect of the storytelling can be quite boring, and that’s probably why most people skip it.
This is the conversation between Alder and Wade:
Alder: “We know that the Tarim are on the run. If we intercept them now, we can extract them, quickly and safely.”
Wade: “Why is everybody so worked up about these people?”
Alder: “The work they possess is very special. Profoundly rare, in fact.”
Wade: “Unfortunately, we can’t make a move on the Tarim without setting off a conflict between Russia and China. You know better than to ask.”
Alder: “The Tarim are of great military value. But there is also a humanitarian imperative.”
Wade: “I forbid you intervention in this matter.”
Basically, Wade asks why she should take a political risk to save the Tarim.
Alder tries the weaponization angle: the Tarim’s songs could be great weapons for the U.S..
When that doesn’t work, Alder then pleads that saving their lives is simply the human thing to do.
That’s when Wade completely shuts her down, as witches’ lives are not valuable enough to her.
Wade then tells Alder that she’ll be fired on live TV. That’s when Alder puppets her and gives herself full power to act as she sees fit.
And what does Alder do with that stolen power? She flies out as fast as she can to save the Tarim.
Does she do anything else with that stolen power? No, as soon as she comes back from the Tarim, we get into the Not Our Daughters plotline and the Camarilla plotline. The Spree’s leadership get mostly murdered and stop everything to fight the Camarilla too (except Nicte). Alder still has to push Wade to get the testing centers open.
Saving the Tarim is all she ever did with that power she stole.
This was long and complicated, but here is what we can conclude from all this:
Alder really would do anything in her power to help the Tarim, but helping them without a deal for their songs is NOT in her power, it’s in Wade’s power. Alder is subservient to the civilian government.
Wade is anti-witch and cares very little for a random tribe of witches in a foreign country, or for what that tribe means for witchkind. Any action on her part would deal her political blow on the international scene and possible repercussions, political, military, or to her reputation.
Alder hoped that the promise of new weapons would sway Wade’s decision. That’s why Alder can’t promise she won’t need the songs in exchange for the U.S.’s help, she might need to propose this deal to Khalida if Wade agrees to it.
But Wade forbids Alder to save the Tarim, so Alder has nothing to lose then: she gives herself all power by puppeting Wade.
Now Alder has the power to help the Tarim without a deal for their songs, and that’s why Khalida accepts.
Additionally, when in the cave where the Tarim are hiding in in M:FS s1e10, Adil uses a seed to melt a solid wall. At this point, Alder backs up to pace a ways away. If Alder wanted those songs so much, wouldn’t she at least stay to watch Adil use one? Observe him in maybe hope to replicate it, or proximate it, in some way? Instead, she leaves. This is what makes Tally (and the audience) understand that Alder really isn’t here for the songs, but for the people. Tally walks up to Alder and tells her: “You’re really worried for them.”
Another important point, from the moment Alder gives herself the power to help the Tarim (through puppeting Wade), she never mentions wanting to learn the Tarim’s songs again. It’s clear that they haven’t shared their songs in exchange for Alder’s help, and Alder never presses them about it. She’s content that they’re safe.
The game now is about where the Tarim will settle. When Khalida announces, going on a tour of the Council Nations in M:FS s2e02, Alder only insists that Khalida accept to be accompanied by a security detail, even as it’s made obvious that General Sharma is still intent on acquiring the Tarim songs via acquiring the Tarim themselves (Khalida assumes so in M:FS s2e05).
Again, even as she’s at risk of losing the Tarim (and thus their songs) to another nation, Alder is only ever shown worrying about the Tarim’s safety.
We can only conclude that Alder wanted to save the people more than she wanted to acquire their songs. If the Tarim survive, then the songs survive, and that’s enough for Alder.
It’s important to note that Alder might very well be playing the long game here, she has all the time in the world, after all. But whether she saves the Tarim in the hope to get their songs later or because she really doesn’t want more witches to die, she’s the only one to advocate for them and the only one who puts herself in very hot water to save them.
