Today we celebrate the Synaxis of the Archangel Michael and All Bodiless Powers. The Holy Angels are celebrated on the ninth month of the year (the Roman calendar began in March) as there are nine ranks of angels, namely the Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Powers, Authorities, Principalities, Archangels and Angels. The eighth day was chosen as this is known as the day that the Lord will return in glory and judge the living and the dead. In particular, we celebrate the archangels Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Selaphiel, Jehudiel, Barachiel and Jeremiel, and the chief commander among them, the Holy Archangel Michael. The holy Angels are seen constantly throughout the Old Testament and continue to perform countless miracles even today. Aujourd'hui on passe du côté de la force céleste pour fêter saint Michel, Saint Gabriel et Saint Raphaël. Nos 2be3 du paradis sont les 3 archanges restants du groupe de 7 de base. Disons qu'ils ont voulu faire les avengers mais 4 sur 7 ont fini anges déchus, dont Satan d'ailleurs ! Du coup à 3 on est plus sur les 2be3 quoi. C'est dommage parce qu'Archange à la base c'est quand même un beau poste , ça veut dire ange supérieur quoi, les boss des anges. Et si ils ont tous un prénom en -el c'est parce que ça veut dire Dieu. exemple Samaël : l'aveugle de Dieu, celui qui n'a pas vu Dieu. En même temps Samaël c'est l'autre nom de Satan, on comprend la ref ^:

First of all il y a Michel aka "qui est comme Dieu " , the big boss des anges. C'est lui qui a pris en main la battle pour chasser les anges déchus du paradis genre général des armées. Du coup sans surprise c'est le saint patron de beaucoup de corps d'armées.

Ensuite Gabriel aka "force de Dieu ", c'est lui qui va annoncer aux humains les volontés de Dieu les plus chelou sans passer pour un con. Genre aller dire à une meuf vierge et tout juste mariée qui n'a rien demandé qu'elle va tomber enceinte du fils de Dieu tout en restant vierge. Faut avoir des cojones quand même.

Et enfin Raphaël aka "Dieu a guéri " , moins connu mais tout aussi important. Il a aidé le petit Tobie à guérir son papounet aveugle, et ça c'est déjà super sympa et utile, mais en plus c'est trop mignon. C'est un peu lui qui a inspiré le concept d'ange gardien quoi 😇

Et pour vous mettre dans l'ambiance je vous conseille Angel de Robbie Williams évidemment ou plus kitch mais tellement années 2000, Gabriel de Najoua Belyzel.

Today we celebrate the Venerable Confessor Gabriel Urgebadze the Fool for Christ of Georgia. Saint Gabriel is one of the holiest people to have lived in the 20th century. Born and having lived his whole life in Georgia, Saint Gabriel was an extraordinary person even from his childhood. He often carried sticks and ran with them held up in the air, and birds would flock to sit on the child's sticks. He was first introduced to the faith at the age of 7 as he grew up in an atheistic communist society where orthodoxy was shunned. At the age of 12, he had a vision of an evil spirit which tried to scare him as the evil one was tired of his prayerful state. The young Saint was not phased by the vision, but only strengthened his faith in God. Growing up, he dedicated his whole life to Christ to the point where even his mother, who was a Christian, demanded him to "act like normal boys". He was often ridiculed for his faith and even suffered torture from the communist party, leaving him half dead. He spent much time at monasteries and eventually became a monk, but the trials did not end there. The communists could not stand his preaching and ordered that he be admitted to a mental asylum. This did not stop his fervour however. Once when conversing with a fellow Georgian who followed Hinduism, he performed a similar miracle as did Saint Spyridon at the first Ecumenical Council - he held bread which at the name of the Holy Trinity, turned into fire, wheat, and water. Towards the end of his life, he lived at a hermit and was often seen conversing with people that were not seen by others. On November 2nd 1995, the Holy Elder gave up his soul to the Lord, having served Him from the age of 12. Beautiful artwork and reflection. #Repost from @arbashome I approached St. Gabriel artistically because I was impressed with the beautiful story of his life and the devotion he gained after death. I decided to differ from my usual method of depicting saints in that I depicted Gabriel in an environment as opposed to my Manet inspired parchment background that is typical of my work. Gabriel is depicted in his Passionist habit and is standing near an image of Our Lady of Sorrows (I took this image from my own 2016 depiction). A candle burns for the presence of God and a Bible sits on the table beside Gabriel. Jesus reminded us in the Parable of the Unjust Steward that “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much…” Gabriel illustrated this by his devotion to fulfilling his every day duties and finding joy by doing it for the glory of God.
