One of the NGOs that's been consistently here for us is World Central Kitchen. As soon as the disaster instigated by russia has struck, they've joined the efforts with Ukrainian volunteers, military and civic services and are providing food, water and other immediate help on the ground.
Along with grassroots Ukrainian volunteer orgs like Come Back Alive and Prytula Foundation, WCK is definitely worth donating to!

"It's out of love for you, my child. You are my child, and I love you, and I want to stay with you. But you are safe, and the children there are not. They need protection."- said Peter Fouche, a British volunteer medic, to his daughter Nikola
Rose Fouche, 87, flew from South Africa to eastern Ukraine, traveling tens of thousands of kilometers to come to the Kharkiv region to see her son Peter.
- I came to see my son, just to show him my love. I missed him, but he is doing wonderful things here. He cares about people here.
This winter, Peter recorded this desperate video for the Western world. Peter is a British volunteer paramedic who, after seeing children die at the beginning of a full-scale war, could not stay at home and went to Ukraine. It was his love for his daughter, Nikola, that motivated him to get involved. I said: "It's out of love for you, my child. You are my child, and I love you, and I want to stay with you. But you are safe, and the children there are not. They need protection."
Once in Ukraine, Peter helped build a field hospital in Brovary and received medical training. Then came Kharkiv, Bakhmut, Sievierodonetsk, and the first lives were saved on the battlefield. Together with a Ukrainian from the UK, Tatiana Millard, Peter created Project Konstantin, an organization that has been supporting civilians and medics during the war. It was named in honor of their friend who died in the battle for Kherson. With the support of international donors, who provided them with the necessary equipment. They repeatedly saved lives and each other until the last day, when Tetiana was killed on a mission. It was a heavy loss for Peter... Now he is fighting in her memory. In a difficult moment, he tries to cheer up the wounded with his British humor. Peter's soul is warmed by thoughts of his daughter, Nikola, who is waiting for him at home alive. He also receives messages from the rescued soldiers who send him their photos from time to time. "Thank you for saving my life, I'm back in the ranks."
This meeting with his mother in the frontline Kharkiv region became a breath of fresh air for Peter to continue fighting for Ukraine.
- This is my mom, my example. You look incredible!
- My Peter! My boy!
She stayed with her son in this modest room for a while and then returned home. And Peter remains with Ukraine and continues to save Ukrainian soldiers in fierce battles.

Russian War Crime
'It was a trap': Video shows American volunteer killed by guided missile in 'Deliberate' Russian attack
Medic volunteer Pete Reed and a Ukrainian woman he was treating died.
The video is only about a second long but it captures the killing of American medic volunteer Pete Reed and a Ukrainian woman he was treating in Bakhmut, a city in eastern Ukraine which has been the target of a bloody Russian assault for months.
When watched frame-by-frame, the footage is revealing.
A low-flying missile can be seen hurtling toward Reed’s white van ambulance which was parked at the scene.
The images show that Reed was not killed by Russian shelling, as eyewitnesses had previously thought.
Military experts say the missile visible in the footage bears all the hallmarks of an anti-tank laser-guided missile. Colleagues of Reed, who was working with globaloutreachdoctors.org, say the video, together with firsthand witness accounts, show that the group of international medics was deliberately targeted.
"They were hunting us down," said Erko Laidinen, a 35-year-old Estonian volunteer medic from frontlinemedics.org, whose camera recorded the missile and the explosion.
When Laidinen’s team of medics arrived at the scene on Feb. 2 to treat a Ukrainian woman who had been injured by shelling, another team led by Reed was already there.
Less than 10 seconds later, the missile struck Reed’s white van.
At that moment Laidinen was still inside his team’s van ambulance, which he said was clearly marked with large medical-style crosses and was parked a short distance away.
The Estonian medic had turned his camera on a second before the explosion. Reed is clearly visible.
He is standing by his ambulance, alongside his fellow medics. Next to him was the woman he was about to treat.
Then a low-flying missile shoots in from right to left.
"It was the worst two seconds of my life," Laidinen said as he described the moment after the explosion.
He then heard one of his team members scream.
“I got relief," he recalled. "It was not nice, but you could verify (his colleague) was alive
Laidinen said he and his colleagues, who were badly injured, quickly took cover inside a building. He believes the team of international medics were then repeatedly targeted by Russian forces, even after the initial missile attack.
His camera had crashed to the ground in the initial explosion, as Laidinen had exited his vehicle to take cover.
The camera’s image for the next 20 minutes is just black; however, it still recorded multiple nearby explosions which Laidinen believes were incoming Russian mortars.
Laidinen said he has additional dash cam footage that captures both the missile hitting Reed’s ambulance as well as a second missile being fired at a vehicle, which was being used to evacuate casualties from the scene.
That second missile, he said, missed its target and hit a nearby residential building.
The dash cam video has not yet been published but Laidinen said it has been handed over to Ukrainian police and war crimes prosecutors, as well as the Estonian and U.S. authorities.
"The low, flat trajectory" of the missile "and the fact that it was slow enough to be captured on video" suggest it was an anti-tank guided missile, according to Steve Ganyard, an ABC News contributor and a retired colonel. Ganyard has viewed the images.
Laidinen said it was obvious the team of international volunteers were medics working on the scene.
The cross on the back of Reed’s ambulance was covered with dirt but crosses were visible on the side and front of that van, as well as on all sides of Laidinen's vehicle, he said.
As the video shows, Reed’s team was dressed in civilian clothing. Laidinen said one team member did have on a camouflage-type jacket.
It took Laidinen two days to retrieve his phone and watch the video back.
It then hit home "how dangerous it is" for a volunteer working near the front lines in Ukraine, he said.
"You can easily identify the missile in the picture," he said.
There is no question for him that they were deliberately "targeted," Laidinen insisted.
"It is laser guided. There is nothing to debate," he said.
Laidinen said the Russian military would have known that a team of medics would have been responding to a civilian casualty on the scene.
"They waited for us. They knew we were coming, that we were responding," he said. "It was a trap."

I love when ppl pretend Steve never owns up to his mistakes like yeah he fucks up a lot but then he ruthlessly gets the shit kicked out of him to make up for it immediately and then he does the narrative version of looking directly into the camera like oh I fucked up

🌐 Last week, a fundraiser to rebuild the city of Bucha in Ukraine was held in the city of Albany, New York. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, as well as Anatolii Fedoruk Mayor of Bucha, were leading and holding this amazing event.
👩‍🦱👩‍💼 Katie Suhr, one of ENGin’s dedicated volunteers, was out and about spreading the word about our mission and making impactful connections during this crucial fundraiser.
🌃 Bucha experienced an unimaginable tragedy when Russian forces invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, leading to the devastating Bucha massacre. The people of Bucha have endured hardships that are difficult for many to comprehend. Bucha, however, became a symbol of rebuilding Ukraine with hope.
💪 We are really proud of our volunteers seizing the opportunity and participating in the fundraiser.
🤝 In addition to spreading the word about ENGin and how it could help people, Katie took part in helping the people of Bucha and the people of Ukraine. Katie and her son joined forces to pack 400 boxes of humanitarian aid destined for the military in Ukraine. In a heartwarming twist of fate, Katie crossed paths with another ENGin volunteer, Alex, from nearby Hoosick. Together, they represented our community with pride and purpose.
🇺🇦 Events like these remind us of the power of community and collaboration, and how crucial it is to connect, especially after experiencing unimaginable tragedy and trauma. Learn more about how you could become a leader that spreads hope through your local community (for instance, by joining ENGin Chapters) - https://www.enginprogram.org/extra-opportunities

Dismayed by Moscow's war, Russian volunteers are joining Ukrainian ranks to fight Putin's troops
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — When Russia’s invasion of Ukraine ignited into war, back in Moscow, a young Russian who now goes by the name of Karabas was plunged into despair. Shocked by images of what was happening to Ukrainians in Russian-occupied areas, he decided to act — against Russia, his home and country. Karabas said he knew that what he was doing was drastic. He packed his bags and decided to…

The American civilian was abducted from his home by the soldiers, prosecutors said, and was thrown to the ground naked with his hands tied behind his back. He was then taken to a makeshift jail in the village, where he was tortured and threatened with sexual assault and execution, according to court documents. The indictment unveiled on Wednesday included detailed descriptions of interrogation and torture, and prosecutors said that at several points the soldiers told the American civilian that he was about to die.During one mock execution, Nazar and others allegedly forced the man to the ground, put a gun to the back of his head, then moved the gun slightly and shot a bullet just past the man's head. The victim was allegedly also forced to perform manual labour such as digging trenches for the Russian troops. After around 10 days he was released.
This might be the 1st time russians are charged with war crimes against an American, but for anyone following the war, it is a familiar pattern. This is systematic-- torture against civilians as well as POWs which often includes rape threats and mock executions.
