I was thinking about the idea of just changing characthers with similar power sets across universes and it gave me some fantastic crackships (some that are even good besides being funny).
The funnier one to me is Reed Richards a.k.a Mr. Fantastic and Bob Parr a.k.a Mr. Incredible. Two people who named themselfs with a loot of self love involved. I mean it makes sence they both are parts of stories that have a massive focus on family, being part of the two most famous superhero families outside and inside the universe, they would have a fun dinamic as Reed would also wish for glory but try to be smarter about it and also Reed is a dick more often than not. The dinamics of good mad scientist and his almost himbo husband. And the idea that this two somehow still adopted only superpowered kids even in the Incredibles world where heros were illegal is amazing. I can't explain but they are just an interesting ship to write in a crack told seriusly and the concept of them is just soo funny for me.
On the surprisingly not as crack and possibly my favorite we have Rita Farr and Sue Storm. It may be because I'm a simp for this two girls and only want them to be happy but I do think they would have a fascinating dinamic. And Rita would be a better stepmon than Reed was a dad (sorry Reed, i know you are trying your best and has your momets but it's true).

As I'm currently indexing this blog or, rather, meta-tagging posts in my new version of it on the Blogger website (I will post proper link as soon as it's finished), I decided to compile a list of all the women who feature (or receive a mention however fleetingly) within it. Alan Clarke appreciation.
Over the years we have featured the works of British film maker Alan Clarke into our product, a bit of an unsung hero in the film world, Clarke directed some of the finest British films of our time until his untimely death in 1990. Usually hard hitting, provocative and controversial, films such as Scum, Made in Britain, Rita, Sue and Bob Too, Christine, Contact, Elephant and The Firm. All his films are noted for his trademark steadicam walking shots, iconic characters and very quotable dialogue, inspiring and unforgettable. An incredible back catalogue when you think about the era they were made.
Above are some of our various nods to Alan Clarke’s films over several years of doing this brand. Next up we pay homage to Tim Roth in Made In Britiain with the t-shirt he always wanted, watch this space for details.

Manjinder Virk in The Arbor (Clio Barnard, 2010).
Cast: Manjinder Virk, Christine Bottomley, Natalie Gavin, Parvani Lingiah, Danny Webb, Kate Rutter, Jimi Mistry, Robert Emms, Kathryn Pogson, George Costigan, Monica Dolan, Neil Dudgeon, Matthew McNulty, Lizzie Roper. Screenplay: Clio Barnard. Cinematography: Ole Bratt Birkeland. Production design: Matthew Button. Film editing: Nick Fenton, Daniel Goddard. Music: Harry Escott, Molly Nyman.
The Arbor is a heartfelt, scathing docudrama about promise without fulfillment, centered on the playwright Andrea Dunbar and her children, particularly the eldest, Lorraine, who is played on screen by the actress Manjinder Virk, lip-synching the actual Lorraine's voice from recorded interviews. Director Clio Barnard uses this technique throughout the film, with the voices of Lorraine's siblings, her foster parents, and other members of the Dunbar family dubbed in place of the voices of the on-screen actors. It's an arresting device that runs the risk of having a film full of monologues, which Barnard avoids by staging the scenes in the actual locations, particularly the drab, run-down council estate (i.e. "public housing"), where the Dunbars lived. She also includes scenes from Dunbar's plays, and the film, Rita, Sue and Bob Too (Alan Clarke, 1987), that was made from one of them. The Arbor culminates in the story of Lorraine's descent into drug addiction and the consequent death of her small son. It's not a film designed to lift your spirits, but the effectiveness of Barnard's way of telling the story makes it well worth seeing.

The Keighley bus in Brontë country, West Yorkshire. Dunno the date.
One of the best scenes in the film 'Rita, Sue and Bob Too' (and there are many classic scenes to choose from) was filmed in Haworth, where the girls went on a school trip. Sue gets into a scrap with another classmate and (I'm writing from memory here) when confronted by a teacher and asked for an explanation for the fight, Sue, face triumphant, says, "She called me a slag, so I hit her!". It never fails to amuse me. Such a brilliant film.

Back in 1989 I read Roger Ebert’s review for the British film Rita, Sue and Bob Too (1987) and it stuck with me. I was so curious to see it. But for some reason it eluded me. Last night I finally saw it. It is bawdy, funny and clearly a commentary on the class structure of Britain in the late 80’s. Its grim and raw but also loopy and silly. It’s also somewhat grating and repetive. I was fascinated by how the director spent an enormous amount of time showing the women walking everywhere (more often than not in heals). I mean it’s a thing in this film. I am still not sure how I feel about it all. But I am so glad I finally watched this film that caught my attention all those years ago.
