Finally! I will say now that the class girls will likely take a long time as well.
Kagami's first and second looks here are meant to be her pre and post character development outfits.
Buckle in, this is a long (haha) one
Kagami in cannon is clearly designsed to resemble Marinette in a lot of ways, both are of Asian decent and have blue-ish hair and blue eyes. Both have freckles and even their suits share a very similar color pallet. At least Luka was different from Adrien in more than personality.
I didn't want that for my Kagami. I wanted her too look like more than a Marinette clone. So she gets to keep her freckles since my Marinette doesn't have any. Her hair is a darker color instead of a blue, and her eyes take on a stormy grey color. And of course their body types are different, namely Kagami is both taller and ripped.
Ryuko's hair is more blue since I gave the miraculous blue, white, and gold accent to match the weather pattern on her chest. Her hair get's shorter, pinned back and is a bit more wild. It's probably got some static. Little horns and some armor to keep her extra safe as well as further resembling scales. Her suit is closer to an orange shade than Ladybug's cool red. I almost switched her to blue since I agree with the sentiment that the dragon should have been blue. But red looked good too.
I don't particularly like any of the akuma designs for Kagami. I like Oni-Chan in concept at least (hate the name) so I decided to combine that with Riposte to create her initial design. Than she gets a pallet swap and a few thorny details to represent the rose. And Bara-Oni, literally just 'Rose Demon' I ain't creative, when Lila pulls her stunt.
Kagami's personality is very similar to cannon, however her character still has some pretty harsh changes. Kagami has come to realse through Adrien and Marinette's friendship that she isn't very happy with her life. Her mother is trying to live through her, forcing Kagami to participate in fencing and putting pressure on her to perform perfectly in every aspect of life.
This comes to a head when she is given Longg. While sitting in the akumatized mech her mother became, all because she had the audacity to make friends, she actually waits long (haha) enough for Longg to explain the miraculous. When Long explains the weapon he points out that she must be thrilled to have a sword. At which point Kagami was an emotional breakdown and sobs that she doesn't even like sword fighting. That she would rather learn hand to hand combat and that she's wanted to switch for years but her mother refused to hear it.
Longg says her can change her weapon to better suit her, and she get's armor and the abilitly to summon gauntlets when her power activates.
After having this break she and Adrien sit down and try and find ways for Kagami to feel more like an individual without being disowned at 16. Cutting/dyeing your hair and getting a Tattoo are two of the results, and since Kagami already has short hair and doens't really want to go shorter she gets the tattoo instead. Subtly referencing her time as Ryuko in blue (her favorite color). And of course her mother is blind and doesn't know
Is it kind of shitty to abuse your mother's disability to use her money and get a tattoo? Maybe. But that's what you get for mentally and emotionally warping your duaghter to the point where she lies about her favorite color to please you. She, Adrien, and Chloe are in the "Our mom's suck" club together. Chloe will be collecting her for new wardrobe shopping.

Weeby’s Random Thoughts #11
New AU idea from your friendly neighborhood Weeby! @artzychic27 @imsparky2002
This is based on an idea me and Sparky tossed around a while back. The basic premise is that it’s a shadow version of Paris where everyone is their akuma selves. (To clear up confusion, Sabrina would be Vanisher, Luka is Silencer, Kagami is Riposte, basically just their first akuma if they have multiple, expect Chloe, who would be Queen Wasp.) They’d terrorize the ‘light’ side of Paris, which would be protected by a rogue group of heroes led by the people who are antagonists in canon, such as Lila, Gabriel, Felix, etc. Also, Adrien and Marinette would be Chat Blanc and Miss Fortune respectively. The akumas basically rule the city, with Nadja (Prime Queen) and Alya (Lady WiFi) controlling the media. (They also wouldn’t be their ugly canon akuma outfits, I prefer the redesigns done by Zoe-Oneesama for the Scarlet Lady headers.) All my normal ships would apply, and group dates consist of going out and causing mayhem. What do you guys think?
Leave your thoughts in the comments and reblogs!

(https://www.creativereview.co.uk/the-wire-magazine-design/) "[...] Herrington believes it’s the magazine’s “most far-reaching redesign” in over 20 years. His description might seem jarring to some, given the magazine’s new look is almost brazenly toned down. But the new identity and art direction are a riposte to today’s music media outlets, according to Chuard."
In other words, it looks every bit as dull and plain as before, only it's A4 size now. I don't understand what they're getting at with it being "almost brazenly toned down", it's literally the same thing but it's smaller and there's a different logo
My god, is there any other music magazine that makes such an interesting and vital topic (non pop/rock weirdo music, jazz, etc) look so boring when it comes to the visual side of things? You've got some really good writers there but it's designed like a shareholder's report for Q1 of this year or some such shit. After 20 years of the exact same thing I'd have expected something better than more of the exact same thing

MP - Portfolio Content - PB
LO3
Based upon the work I have produced at my time at Uni, multiple pieces of work feel applicable to include in my portfolio which communicate my skill level, work ethic and style I have developed. There have also been a variety of other projects outside of uni that I feel are appropriate to add. I attended a talk with Laura Mulhern who suggested ways in which we were able to market ourselves as creatives. She said the word 'multidisciplinary' was overused and not specific enough. An example of how a creative might brand themselves in a specific and productive way is 'I'm ___. I'm an advertising designer and I create campaigns that are ___, ___, ___.' I feel this would be a good way for me to explain my practice, however, I'm not quite sure how to specialise myself. She also said that, specifically for freelancers, 10 pieces in the portfolio is a good start.
On social media, I follow a number of design content creators and one's advice was, when discussing client work, to explain the issue the client was having and how you visually resolved it. I feel this would be a good methodology for promoting the work I have done for others.
When moving into creating a portfolio, I remember Mark said to me that I should attempt to diversify my style slightly to be able to demonstrate to potential clients that I am able to work within other styles. In projects that, looking back, I feel my design work is slightly weaker, e.g. Style Studio, I could potentially change the aesthetic to be more commercially viable/modern.
Pieces to include:
Unspoken Hero 2050 - demonstrates application of AI, Adobe XD, photoediting, narrative, game concept design, creative direction.
This land is Bliss - demonstrates 3D, application of AI, creative direction. Was exhibited at the GIANT Gallery and Riposte London.
Watch Yourself - demonstrates creative direction, video editing. Entered to D&AD - working to a brief
Style Studio (maybe redesign?) - demonstrates 3D, problem solving, branding design
Branding for Emerge Collective - demonstrates working with clients, a clean contemporary aesthetic. Say what the clients problem was and how I resolved it visually
Memory Scapes (branding needs work) - creative direction, Blender
Nein Typeface (redo poster and animation) - creative direction, typography skills, animation, promotion
Face Time - editorial, photography, creative direction, experimentation
SC Snowglobe Advertising - working with a client, creative direction. Say what the client's issue was and how I resolved it.
Will it Blend Photography - creative direction, experimentation, photography

Alright so this is a little late but I was rewatching lies and I was like: man this episode is great but that akuma design..
So I attempted, key word, attempted to redesign her to look like Yuki Onna? Like, I genuinely thought during the trailers that Lie’s big, white, sphere thing, was like, made of ice or something and I was kinda disappointed it was just, not, you know?
And I was like: that’s a shame cause all of Kagami’s akumas have been sort of Japanese Folk themed? Like Riposte had like the samurai helmet and Oni Chan was well, an Oni.
But Lie was just- Lie? So I was like: hMMMMMMMMMM
Anyways here it is, it’s messy and not the best and I feel like I fucked up the kimono (I tried to make it look messy), I added some red and white to give the design more spice, turned the lucky charm red and into like a shackle.. Deleted her knee caps..
And then I turned the entire lie sphere thing into a fucking blizzard
Uh
So yeah I hope you like it

Trying to redesign an old character who I used to use for more gestural drawings. Her name has changed every time a significant update has happened. Riposte first, then Repent, now I think Ochre.
Not sure.

Lol Surprise Omg Dance Fashion Doll
As children collect more of the toys, and the stickers and accessories that come with them, they can develop their story-telling skills. L Ol Surprise! 560296 Lol Sparkle Series With Glitter Finish And 7 Surprises, Multi
Hi James, without seeing the doll, I assume she got “It Baby.” It Baby is a doll from Series 2 wave 1. She’s in the Glam Club and wears a little black dress and big sunglasses. She’s modeled after Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She’s called “It Baby” like “It Girl”–someone who is a popular celebrity . “So inappropriate for children you guys,” the woman says in the video after taking the doll out of the water. Parents are calling LOL Surprise Dolls “inappropriate” after a Facebook video was shared, showing a mother dipping one of the dolls into water to see what happened. We kept some of the basics like the Lil Sisters and Confetti Pop, and even added the Bling and Glitter Glam as they are the traditional way of receiving and un-boxing the dolls. They make a great lower cost gift in most cases and so can be bought in multiples for those trying to collect a complete set. Sharing this again because I refused to be silenced! Thanks to the ellajplays for the very interesting information. For some reason there are 2 different versions of each doll in this collection - with and without articulation in hands. It is new collection of LOL Surprise tots that will be released with new LOL OMG Queens dolls.

Libra – Freedom for Whom, from What?
Digital Elixir Libra – Freedom for Whom, from What?
It is gratifying just how quickly Facebook’s latest unicorn foal, an enhanced surveillance and data collection tool disguised as a remittance service / cryptocurrency, has gone lame. It’s testament to Facebook’s hubris that Libra was launched under its own name rather than being fronted by another company or white-labelled. From Washington to just about every European capital (plus a fair few in Asia and Australia, too), not only has the reaction been critical from the usual anti-Libertarian hold-outs, but politicians, regulators and central banks have poured deserved scorn on Libra.
As for political reaction, even Congress — in the form of the House Financial Services Committee’s hearing on Facebook’s “New” and “Improved” currency and money transmission lash-up — got in front of the mob and made out they were leading the protest march.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sparkled and triumphed in the theatricals (for readers who’ve not seen the skirmish — Alexandria was nice and sceptically snarky with her “they call it scrip” (!) punchline — it’s worth watching just for entertainment value) although in concentrating on the governance of Libra (being private rather than public) Ocasio-Cortez allowed David Marcus, the co-creator of Libra who heads the social media and networking service’s Cryptocurrency Group, to channel CEO Zuckerberg with a “they can trust us!” riposte which isn’t a winning argument but moving the grounds to a matter of trust means it’s a subjective judgement rather than an objective measure.
Sorry Lambert, you’ll hate me, but Ocasio-Cortez needs to learn that you can’t play as though you’re in a K12 football championship when dealing with Joe Namath-like professional credentialed explainers in the form of David Marcus. But Ocasio-Cortez turned into politics’ most unlikely tag-team with her follow-on interrogator, stay tuned for more of that after we break for some wonkery.
One of the reasons why Facebook’s Marcus was able to wriggle out of so many attempts by congressmen to land a punch is that most users of financial services — even those in congress — are completely oblivious to the complexity of the underlying product. They write a check, get cash from an ATM, get married or divorced and need to tell their bank to redesignate their accounts, lose a card, move away and want to close their account — on and on and on, there’s dozens of use cases which no one ever thinks about. But these have to be catered for and delivered.
On the institution side, internationally enforced banking regulations require account quality checking (did what the customer told the institution when they opened their facility match how they then went on to use the facility, for example? someone claiming to be a high net worth individual but has only nickel and dime credits to the account — or a stated occupation of, say, high school teacher but they’re getting monthly credits of $25,000+ …), suspicious activity reporting (lots of high value or low value transactions, erratic incoming and outgoing funds…) and anti money laundering monitoring. Then there’s sanctioned countries, politically exposed persons (“PEPs”) — the latter being a huge catch-all category.
The US (of all people!) is giving serious, serious aggravation internationally — especially to its pet countries, sorry, “close allies” like the U.K. — to crack down big time on PEPs and rough up individuals, financially-speaking, who have earned Uncle Sam’s displeasure. This may be one explanation for the sudden interest by congress in Libra.
Then you’ve got non-standard situations which might not be commonplace but do still happen. Bereavement and beneficiaries (or legal representatives of an estate) who need access to funds. Blocks and liens (such as might be demanded by law enforcement or the IRS) which must be applied. Fraud and disputes. Customers who get into difficulties such as being unable to sign their name or produce a consistent signature (or no longer able to use a smart device). Vulnerable customers such as those with mental health issues whose families might want power of attorney to be applied. Court production orders (where a court issues instructions for the institution to provide information about a customer or their account activity). The list is seemingly endless.
No-one, certainly not Libra fanbois, stop to ever consider any of this. It is not optional. You can’t hide behind jurisdictional flags of convenience. So how are all the supporting systems going to be built out and how are they to be paid for? Who is going to do the servicing and to what standards? With what redress if things go wrong? You and I as ordinary Joe-Schmo customers can be railroaded, as even Yves found to her chagrin recently. But law enforcement, the courts, the security/surveillance services, international regulatory bodies and the like aren’t going to accept just any old crap from Libra when they come a’ calling, as they inevitably will have cause to. Even if Libra hopes to off-load this stuff to partners, this rarely works in practice. Financial institutions who have attempted to outsource their servicing problems away end up with a patchwork of multiple suppliers they still need to manage. And the buck, or zuckerbuck, stops with the institution, not the supplier or partner.
It’s a forlorn hope, but I’m holding onto it anyway, that when Facebook is subject to critical questioning by lawmakers, regulators or even just you and I, the interlocuters try to grasp a few of the above technical points and present the inevitable difficulties they create for Libra right back at them.
As promised earlier, returning to the congressional hearing, while Ocasio-Cortez might have chosen a more targeted line of enquiry to Facebook’s Marcus, Alexandria sufficiently ruffled Marcus’ feathers with her ribaldry and (fully justified) sneering. Her mic-drop at the end of her questioning about his supposed willingness to accept his salary in the form of Libra rattled him sufficiently that the next in line to question Marcus had the advantage that he’d had his demeanour unsettled.
And it was probably a better line of enquiry in terms of skewering Facebook which came from the following committee member, in the perhaps unlikely form of Rep. Kustoff (R, Tennessee) who asked directly why Facebook sought to base Libra in the Swiss legal jurisdiction and pointedly queried whether this was really in US citizens’ best interests. This forced Facebook’s David Marcus, in his testifying, to say with a straight face, or at least try to (he failed) “Switzerland has nothing to do with evading our responsibilities and oversight”.
Which, of course, is precisely why Facebook are doing it. Marcus ended up with an almost Freudian Slip — blurting out exactly what he didn’t want to say and what he knows to be the truth but can’t admit to.
We know, with the US dollar, precisely who is responsible for managing it, as a currency. We also know, if we bank with a US-domiciled financial services provider who regulates them (however woeful that regulation might be). None of the agencies are perfect, far from it. But at least there is — as the House Financial Services Committee’s hearing demonstrated — some vague semblance of democratic accountability. And there’s always the vague notion that lawmakers will give regulatory bodies some real teeth, someday. At least it’s theoretically possible.
You have to ask, with Libra’s private-sector governance and offshore jurisdiction-shopping, why would they go to such lengths to avoid even these tame beatings with wet noodles? Who is going to benefit, in what way?

Dior declares men's fashion future to be suited and booted
Dior set out to redefine 21th-century tailoring on Friday in a show which summed up a Paris men's fashion week in which the suit has made a surprising comeback.
British-born designer Kim Jones drew inspiration from the French capital's heroic statuary to suggest that there was no better armour for the modern man than well-cut clothes.
His spectacular show in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower had models standing still like statues on a moving conveyer belt catwalk.
The mesmerising effect made it look as if they were gliding or skateboarding to a techno disco beat. Jones, in only his second Paris show for the mythic French label since leaving Louis Vuitton, sent out a sleek, dark-hued riposte to the oversized trend that has dominated men's fashion for several seasons.
Tumblr media
Big on blacks, greys and burnished silky browns, his suits and trousers were cut close to the body, with some given added panache with long scarfs worn like the sashes so beloved of 17th-century cavaliers. Stylised utility vests worn over suits like bulletproof jackets gave some of his models the air of postmodern hussars.
"For me the suit and the tailored jacket are the key things which say Dior," Jones told AFP. "It is elegance, tailoring and couture. "We have made the black suits cooler and a bit more fashion with new boots... and the scarves are inspired by a dress by Christian Dior (the label's founder) from 1952," he said.
Tumblr media
Leather trousers and mink and plasticised silk bomber jackets gave the whole thing a sheen of unapologetic streetwise luxury. "We are taking utilitarian things and making them in fine fabrics," the designer added.
Jones also dotted his winter Dior Homme line with leopard print in another nod to the legacy of the house's founder, the feline, feminine feel softening the collection's hard edges. But artworks commissioned from the cult Los Angeles punk artist Raymond Pettibon were the collection's main print motifs, principally his pouty, Lauren Bacall-esque rendering of the "Mona Lisa".
Tumblr media
Despite their punk provenance, Jones called the images "quite romantic". And like the dog-loving Dior he also referenced his own Pomeranian pooch, Cookie, in his redesign of the label's classic saddlebags. Dior had moved its show from Saturday to Friday to avoid the weekly "yellow vests" protests which have plagued the French capital most weekends for nearly two months.
The anti-government demonstrations often turn violent and Dior's flagship shop on the Champs Elysees was looted after a rally in November. Other protesters scrawled "The people want (to wear) Dior" on its nearby headquarters. Several other luxury brands have been targeted by the "yellow vests" activists, with boarded-up boutiques regularly scrawled with graffiti denouncing the rich.(AFP)

Been working on a few more spreads for the mag. After meeting with Peter with my first draft I realised that my spreads weren't “interesting” enough. The information was but the layout lacked. I got some good references to look at like Matt Willey and Riposte Mag. I used these a lot when I was redesigning stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also been working on the masthead for the magazine. I want to keep it simple and not over-powering. The main cover is just going to be a slide encased within a plastic wallet so the title can’t compromise that. Here’s the first try with corrections.
