Grabbing the remote you decided to flick off the TV and head up to yours and Ada’s shared bedroom to try and get some sleep, lately you hadn’t been sleeping well getting off the couch you started walking upstairs when you heard what sounded like the front door unlocking as soon as the front door opened your feeling as if it was beating out of your chest.

Ada walked through the door, her heels clicking on the hardwood floor, she was holding what looked like a small bag and a bottle of something, she looked exhausted but she gave you a small smile you could see the tension melt from her body as her eyes met yours, closing the front door behind her and placed her things on the small table beside the door.

“Your home.” you say softly as you were slightly shocked but over the moon that she was home alive and safe, soon you found yourself running over to her and hugging her tightly, you heard a soft noise leave her lips at the impact your body hit hers but she wrapped her arms around you just as quickly.

“I have a gift for you?” Ada says making you look at her with a raised eyebrow, moving away slightly she handed you a small bag, inside was a small box, opening the small box was 2 lockets with your favourite picture of you both and both your initials engraved on the back.

“When did you have time to do this?” you asked as you admired the piece of jewelry. “I got it done just before my last mission, I was going to give it to you then but I got called away early.” Ada says with a sad look on her face but you smiled up at her as you took one of the lockets out from the box.

“This is so thoughtful.” you say looking up at your girlfriend who had a slight blush on her cheeks, they looked expensive and good quality. “So you can have a piece of me while I'm away on missions.” Ada says as she places a kiss on the top of your head then she grabs the locket from your hand and moves your hair before she clips it around your neck, the locket falling to the middle of your breasts.

“I have something I want to ask you?” you say trying to hide the nerves in your voice, you didn’t know why you felt nerves it felt right you and her together forever but that still didn’t help the nerves, you saw Ada nod her head and slowly you kneeled down on one knee and opened the small box which contained a small diamond ring you knew she had been eyeing when you went out shopping together, you even got it custom sized and engraved.

“Will you marry me?” you asked her feeling as if a weight had been lifted off your shoulders, you could see Ada thinking about it. “Are you sure you want to be with somebody like me?” you heard her ask her voice was quiet and small not what you were expecting, reaching up you gently placed a hand on her cheek.

“I couldn’t picture my life with anybody else, I want you Ada and only you.” you say to her and you could swear you saw tears in her arms before she hugged you tightly, the position was a little awkward but you didn’t care.

“So is that a yes.” you asked against her neck, she nodded her head as you pulled away slightly and took the ring out of the box, it had “Forever & Always’ engraved in the band of the ring. “Perfect fit.” she says, admiring the ring. “Just like us.” you say causing her to roll her eyes but her smile warms your heart, you made the right decision you wanted to be with Ada forever and always.

Leon had drove himself and Ada to one of the smaller parks in the neighborhood. As he parked toward a thick of trees and dimmed in the lights, he scanned all sides of his vehicle in rapid succession. His mind dedicating to memory all the potential blind spots and, god forbid, a few escape routes.

"You seem on edge," Ada pointed out while she unpacked hers and Leon's take out order from the paper bag.

"Well, you never know when a big monster is going to come out and ruin your night." Leon mused albeit sadly. He could let his years as a government agent take a backseat in his head, but when it came to Raccoon City--and being swarmed by the undead--his mind was quick to envision such creatures emerging from the shadows at any given time.

Snapping himself out of it, Leon took one last glance of his surroundings before making his peace. "There's not a soul in sight."

"I would call that a good thing." Ada smiled, and handed Leon's bowl of food to him.

"Maybe you're right." Leon returned the smile, popping the lid off his teriyaki noodles he ordered after retrieving it from Ada. The aroma flooded his nose, and he quickly discarded his hypervigilance and dug in with the pair of chopsticks he retrieved from the cars cup holder.

For the next half hour, Ada and Leon ate and devoted time to small talk in between bites. Both enjoyed the general peace between one another, and how being among familiar company was pleasant. At some point though, Leon cracked a terrible joke that had Ada almost choking on her own noodles between fits. As they both came down from the high--and Leon recovered from the few slaps Ada gave his shoulder--did they begin to feel brave enough to travel into deeper waters.

"Why am I not surprised Redfield and Valentine hooked up?" Ada sighed as she wiped her mouth, tossing her chopsticks into the take out bag along with the bowl.

"Honestly, they should've tied the knot a long time ago." Leon laughed. "I mean we're all getting old, and keeping up with kids is tough."

"They sired offspring too?" Ada teased, grinning at the face Leon made before he chuckled.

"Yep. Two of them. Boy and a girl. They might be adopting a teen last I heard. Jade and I were going to visit them, but then Kiera got sick and we had to reschedule. We fly out in the next three months."

"I see," Ada replied.

"Does that bother you?" Leon asked.

"No," Ada shook her head, taken aback. "Why would you assume that?"

"You sounded kind of sad there for a moment." Leon pointed out.

"It's strange, that's all." Ada shrugged.

Leon chortled. "What, having a normal life?"

"That," Ada pointed at him playfully and chuckled. "And hearing where my former adversaries ended up. Harper got promoted to your original position in government, Chambers might be receiving a peace prize, and Redfield's sister is running what, five different organizations now?"

"Three and a half technically, plus the charity work." Leon corrected. He flinched as Ada flicked the side of his cheek and smirked afterward.

"You're such a smart ass these days." Ada mused.

"Coming from you, I'll take that over dumbass."

"How sweet."

They both laughed, coming to a pause when either of them got stuck looking at the other. The inside of the car began to feel hot, and Leon cracked the drivers window down just a little.

"So," Leon cleared his throat. "I guess that's our cue to dive into whatever horrible crap my ex-wife got herself involved with."

Ada blinked a few times, looking away as she rubbed the back of her neck. She knew Leon's sarcasm was a coverup for the bitterness he no doubtly felt toward the circumstances of Kiera's untimely death, and wondered if he was truly up for hearing everything. Then again, Ada knew from experience that keeping things hidden for Leon's sake usually backfired. No, she needed to give it to him straight.

"I think she bit off more than she could chew." Ada admitted, crossing her arms.

"Care to elaborate?" Leon asked.

"Well," Ada furrowed her brows. "While I don't have any evidence for foul play as of yet, she was corresponding with lesser bioterrorists to get more hits on her main target."

Leon's eyes widened. "You gotta be kidding me!"

"I wish I was," Ada admitted bitterly, speaking from experience. "The aliases of her contacts, I'm familiar with them."

"God damn it..." Leon murmured, breathing into his palms before he rubbed his eyes. He let out a few deep breaths as Ada observed him worriedly. "Do you have any suspects of who could've killed her based on that?"

Ada shook her head. "No, but John Boy on the list--he may be a rat in the black market, but he does have connections to bigger players, ones that trade B.O.Ws like baseball cards." she let more of the information sink, pausing until Leon eased up a little. "I can make some calls to my friends on the other side, see if I can dig up anything more."

"I would appreciate that," Leon nodded. He bowed his head, once more rubbing his eyes as if he to hold back tears.

"Not to pry, but it seems like you know something about this that I don't."

"Leon closed his eyes, swallowing as he gave a small nod to Ada's remark. He adjusted his posture, and gazed forward through the car windows; taking a fraction of a second to admire the dark scenery and the lights illuminating sections of the park before responding.

"I was picking up Jade for visitation the day I found out Kiera had been assigned to a big case," Leon furrowed his brows as he smiled while reminiscing. "She was always given the scraps at work, and finally had something worthwhile. I should've been happy for her, but the moment she confided in me about the link to a potential bioterrorist, I lost it. One thing led to another, and we had a huge fight."

"Was the fight about her safety?" Ada asked.

Leon shrugged. "That, and the danger she could've been putting Jade in. You and I both know there are people out in this world that would love more than anything to destroy what I've built. Kiera--as much as we loved each other, she never understood the gravity of that. The weight of the fear. I tried to convince her to get off the case, but she wouldn't have it."

Ada was silent while she quietly observed Leon. Even within the dim lightning of the car, she could see the creases of the corner of his eyes brimming with tears.

"Y'know, one of the last things I said to her, was that she was selfish. That she didn't love Jade enough to put aside her ego. That wasn't true, that wasn't true..." Leon murmured, shaking his head. "I was just...scared out of my fucking head. Trying to say anything to get her to drop it."

Ada smiled slightly, admiring Kiera's stubbornness if only for a moment. "It's not your fault, what happened to her."

"I know," Leon nodded. "But it doesn't change the guilt. I could've handled it better."

"You could've," Ada admitted. "But it wouldn't change her fate. Contrary to what you said, it sounded like Kiera knew what she was getting involved with, weighed out the risks, and sadly, she overestimated her luck. That is if she was murdered and didn't die of natural causes."

"Do you really believe that?" Leon asked, raising a brow as he turned his head to Ada. "Given the circumstances and our experiences with bioterrorists, do you really believe she died of natural causes?"

"Oh, one hundred percent there's foul play." Ada nodded. "I'm not denying that. All I'm saying is...look, I don't believe in fate. You know I've never been the type, but after all these years, I do believe when it's your time to go, it's your time to go. This was hers, as sad as it was. You can't linger on the what ifs, Leon. Not when you have a kid depending on you."

Leon softly smirked. "I wish you were this philosophical back in the day."

"You would've loathed me." Ada smiled. "Besides, you had more than enough of an open mind for the two of us."

"I think Jade has us beat there." Leon grinned as both he and Ada chuckled.

As the laughter died down, the tension from before returned.

Meeting Ada's eyes and how she looked him over, Leon's pulse rose.

Everything became overwhelming. The leftover smell from the food, her own sweetness, and just how good it felt to be around her again, had his mind spinning and it seemed the same effect was being had upon her for Leon noticed Ada had no qualms when they inched forward from their seats, adjusting so they could kiss one another with ease.

What began as a small peck, evolved into a passionate tug between both their lips. Neither wanted to come up for air, until Leon got a hold of himself and pulled away a little; giving them enough room to speak.

It's good to be home.” Ada mumbled against your neck as you drew your attention back to the pot on the stove, seeing it was nearly cooked you flicked off the stove so the food didn’t overcook. “It's good to have you home princess.” you say with a smile as you turn around and wrap your arms around her waist, A soft laugh left Ada’s lips as she was pulled closer to your body, her arms wrapping around your neck.

“Hey sweetheart, I have a question to ask you?” you asked her as a question crossed your mind, you didn’t know how she was going to react to this but it nagged at the back of your head ever since you found out some information from Chris. “I heard you saw Leon on your last mission.” You say quietly and soon you felt Ada’s body tense at the mention of her old flames name, before she slowly nodded her head.

“I did..why do you ask.” Ada says before she looks down at you as your head rested on her chest. “I just don’t want to sound insecure or anything. I know you two have a long and complicated history but do you still have feelings for him, like how you did in raccoon city?” you finally asked her, feeling as if a weight had been lifted off your shoulders, you loved and trusted Ada but sometimes your overthinking kicks in because deep down you knew she could do so much better.

You heard her let out a soft sigh, her eyes narrowing and her jaw tense making you start to regret asking her the question, she moved and rested her chin on top of your head.

“Leon and I have a complicated relationship but it ended that night in raccoon city, of course I will always have some feelings for him from time to time, but….” she pauses as if she is trying to piece her thoughts together. “....But i’m no longer in love with him, not anymore he moved on and so have I.” she says before she takes your face into her hands, her eyes holding a tender look of love and affection only reserved for you.

“I know how much you loved him and he loved you, there is no denying that you two had something special that was intense and strong, I just guess in the back of my mind I was just thinking that…” you started but Ada cut you off by pressing a soft kiss to your lips.

“I love you Y/n and only you.” she says honestly as her chocolate brown eyes looked into yours, you could see she was being honest and sincere causing your heart to sped up slightly and a small blush cover your cheeks.

“I love you too master.” You say with a laugh causing Ada to laugh as well as she pulls the blanket up over the pair of you, moving you resting on your side, your legs intertwined with each other as you held her closely to you, her head resting comfortably on your bicep.

“Your mine aren’t you.” Ada asks with a smug grin on her lips as she asks the question. “Always.” you say as you feel Ada begin to play with your hair, her fingers moving slowly as it stroked through the strands. “Good girl.” Ada says her smug grin widens as she keeps playing with your hair, enjoying the softness to it.

Closing her eyes Ada leans up and softly kisses you before she lets out a soft yawn. “Goodnight.” she whispers softly and when you didn’t reply she knew you had fallen asleep. “Cute.” she thought to herself before she nuzzled in closely to you and fell asleep quickly, happy to finally be home safe and sound in your arms.
