Irene

Your girlfriend in that period was recording her new reality show "Irene's Work & Holiday". She succeded in taking you with her as a cast member because you were "a great friend of her". You were in Bali and the theme of that episode was just Irene relaxing and having fun with her friends. You were playing in the water and all was going well. You were playing with the ball, the water guns and even algae. Irene was searching some seaweed to throw at you and she believed to have found a big one. You, that were near here, immediately understood the truth: that was not a seaweed, but a jellyfish. So you quickly between her and the animal, being stung. Luckily the jellyfish was not poisonous, so you just had to spend a night in the hospital. But what a night: in fact with cameras off, Irene stopped to be a friend and returned to be your girlfriend. There was so much love in that room that you promised yourself to be stung more often if that was the aftermath.

Seulgi

Getting engaged with Seulgi was definitely a deal: not only you had the better girlfriend ever, but now you had a new groups of friends. In fact her members often asked her to take you with them because the more, the merrier. That you were on the set of Feel my Rhythm and the concept was so fun: reenacting some famous paintings. It was Seulgi's turn and the painting to reenact was "Lady looking behind the walls" by Philippoteaux. To do that Seulgi had to hang in balance on a ladder. The first take was good, but the director wanted to another for safety. Your instinct kicked in, you felt that something was wrong. So, without realizing it, your started to run towards towards her. You did it just in time because the old ladder broke and you caught Seulgi on the fly. But sadly the old and heavy ladder fell on your leg, getting you injured. You spent the next month, stuck at home due your injury, but in return having Seulgi calling you "Her savior" and spoiling you with cuddles and kisses was worth it.

Wendy

The reason why the radio show of Wendy was a success was easy: that was the perfect work environment for her. In fact not only her job was cool, due to her personality and the guests that were always presents, but that was the place where she found the love. You were working in the radio station as technician and you were glad that for once the host was such a lovely girl. One day you came late to work due a family affair, so the settings for the episode were made by a newbie, that was a bit too lazy that time. In fact he had mounted cables wrong. Luckily you figured that out pretty quickly, so you made in time to put you in Wendy’s place and take take the shock in her place. The thing kept you out of the game for a week, but at least Wendy has set her eyes on you, admired by your courage. So as soon as you were back at work, she asked you out.

Joy

The period of promotion of their latest comeback was finished not long ago. You two wanted to make up for the lost time, but since she was still tired, you opted for a simple but nice walk. You were enjoying your date, everything was perfect till that moment: the temperature was not too hot nor too cold, there were not much people in the street and you have just finished to eat a really good ice cream, but the best thing was the smile on Joy's face. You knew that the smile was going to grew even bigger when you saw a dog coming in your direction with its owner. Joy, of course, stopped to pet the dog and it was really docile. It's just unfortunate that not far from you a drunk man broke a glass bottle. The rumor agitated the dog. Your reflexes were great, because the poor dog, scared, was going to bite Joy's hand, instead he has bitten yours. While being visited by the nearer vets, your girlfriend never left your hand (the good one), and when you returned home with her, she clung to your arm 'till you two fell asleep, hugged.

Yeri

What's best than a day at park? A picnic in the park, of course. You were there with your girlfriend to celebrate your two years long relationship. The day before you made together all your favorite food, so you knew that it was going to be a beautiful day. After you started eating, a bunch of teenager began to play volleyball near you two. They were noisy, but your mood due the food and Yeri's presence that they were not bothering you. To be honest they were very good, maybe too much...One of them hit the ball hard and it flew towards Yeri's head, which was not looking the ball. So, to protect her, you pushed her and you took the ball in your face, then you passed out. Few minutes later you woke up with your head on Yeri's legs, while she was medicating your nose, from which a little blood had flowed. She looked at you with eyes full of love and said "Babe, thank you for saving me, but be careful the next time...I want you with me for at least the next 20 years", and she ended kissing you.

okay, so alhaitham always has his headphones on and has a music player, right? so here are some of the artists that he most likely listens to. modern time setting ofc lol.

i compiled the songs here in this playlist (will probably add more songs from time to time): what is he listening to?

general head canons:

- he definitely has spotify premium. doesn't tell kaveh about it because it will lead to bickering on why he just didn't get a family plan😞

- he's the type as well to past his time by looking at vinyls and see if there is anything he likes.

My thots on RV Birthday:

- tbh I think the best Red Velvet song using a classical music sound is Marionette, then Feel My Rhythm, then this song. I like the trend in general so it's still good but.. yeah.

- The prechorus had an 80's sound so I was expecting that in the chorus (something like Blackpink's Lovesick Girls or Twice's Can't Stop Me) so the first time I heard it I felt let down. It took me another listen to appreciate it for what it actually was.

- I feel like they tried to do an updated take on Ice Cream Cake. Especially the chorus. That's the song that got me into them so I enjoyed the callback and the giant kitty! The chorus also feels very 2nd gen to me?

- Why in the year 2022 are they really making Seulgi say the word swag?? SM will never stop using slang they shouldn't (especially shawty).

- Their outfits feel too.. young? It feels like something Itzy would wear or something.. I also generally dislike a lot of camo print. My favorite of their outfits are the black with the sprinkle-looking trim because that's on theme.

- Did Wendy skin Key's little monster guy from the Gasoline cover to make her jacket? lol I actually like it tho. Muppet chic 💖

- Seulgi and Yeri have such cute hairstyles! All of them do but those 2 especially!

- Irene's makeup with the gems doesn't look right. The gems match her skin tone too much and just looks like texture? Don't do that to our original visual :(

- The sets were not as birthday-ish as I was expecting :(

-The animated part was wild and cool!

- I'm obsessed with how their image has gone from being a bubble-gum death cult, to a man-eating lesbian cult, to whatever kind of cult this, Feel My Rhythm, and Zimzallabim is. Obsessed.

"Fixing" Red Velvet's Birthday Music Video because I'm an unsatisfied snob 🎂

1. Styling👗

The fact the girls wore very basic and casual outfits, especially when the MV is so campy, felt timid. Yeah it's trendy and palatable but it's boring. Birthday was ripe for Zimzalabim-esque fashion but actually getting it right.

Not a one-to-one but a general gist of what I'd like. When the girls are interacting with zany characters and environments, it'd make sense they'd match it. Furs, frills, bows, patterns, and a lot of colour! Make them look like walking birthday presents 😫

2. Staging🎭

I seriously have a bone to pick with how so many of the shots made the story hard to follow. The MV generally suffered from terrible lighting, bad framing, and fast cuts.

It sounds nitpicky but the "red light green light" clip was so easy to have filmed more clearly and dynamically by putting the camera over Yeri's shoulder. Also, Yeri turns her head away from the camera that makes her action hard to read. If anything, why didn't the director just do another take and asked Yeri to turn her head the other way???

The other 2 shots are so dark. I didn't even notice Joy's enemy in the corner until I took the screenshot and a lot of people missed Wendy's because he's way off at the side in the dark.

The fourth pic is... Everything wrong. It's dark, it's poorly framed, and I didn't even notice the girls' summoning circle until the third watch. These were just the glaring shots but these issues were littered throughout the MV.

3. Set Design 🛋️

Honestly, a lot of it looks good! But since I'm nitpicking and reimagining the MV, I would still change it a bit. Because the story is Red Velvet going through this building to crash the Gingerbread Man's party, I would've made the sets look like rooms. It'd visually be more cohesive and interesting. The girls are picking up keys too so it'd make sense to see them unlock some doors.

Again, this is the gist of what I'd like. I think it'd be cool to see each themed room be cluttered and claustrophobic and as if you just entered a wormhole. The blue room with the fluffy enemy only had a tree but it'd have personality with some blue, monochromatic furry furniture. Something like the sets from "But I'm a Cheerleader".

I liked the knock-off Edward Scissorhands set, all it needed were walls, either grass walls or a red. And as for Seulgi's enemy, I would've put them in a room with props like a giant dog bowl and dog house and make the room look like a playpen. Just a few examples that I think would help enrich the world building and showcase these characters' quirks better!

In conclusion...

I love the concept and idea for Birthday and we'll probably never see another concept like it which is why I'm so devastated it fell flat. It was the zany, campy, maximalist music video that was too good to be true. Red Velvet music videos have honestly been lukewarm as of late and I'm hoping for when they can return to their iconic era.

This song is K-Pop so it’s not everyone’s taste, but it helped inspire me to write ‘A Colorful Spring’ and if it were a tv show I would use it as the “main theme” lol! It a soft mellow love song with an acoustic guitar it’s something you could listen to while relaxing imo!

I love this song so much lol, to me it’s a fun pop song that I like to listen to when I feel “sassy” lmao! Ngl it kinda fits Discordia 👀
