Fun FLCL fact - so in episode 5 there is a little scene in the final battle:
The glowing red ball is Naota - who up until this point had considered himself the pilot of the robot Canti, but is now revealed to be the bullet Canti uses to attack people - not a hero, but fuel to be spent. And he hits the movie sign here as a bit of a gag-reveal, becoming a bullet coming out of the gun in the poster.
All well and known, but apparently the poster itself is, amoung other things, a reference to the 1973 film "Aesthetics of a Bullet", which parallels Naota's arc. A small time crook gets hired as a hit-man by the yakuza to become their 'bullet'; which he interprets as him becoming a big-shot hit man, but is really him being used up and tossed aside for their goals. Combination inspiration/reference for Naota's plot.
Its also a John Woo reference as is a theme in this episode, including the signature white doves (who are even mentioned, "return of the doves!" in the text on the left), which is quite cute.

“ Are…you sure about this?”
“ Of course, don’t you trust me?”
“ With my life. But…I don’t know-.”
“ Just trust me, you look fine.” Solara Equinox, wife of Fuegoleon Vermillion, said as she watched her husband inspect his Halloween costume for the upteenth time.
It had been her idea to do a couples costume this year, after she and her fellow Captain’s wives giggled about it during one of their ‘meetings’, and she was a bit surprised when Fuegoleon agreed to it.
But, he had one condition; he got to choose the costume, which she agreed to, since it wasn’t that big of a deal to her. At first she wondered if it would be something like a queen and king, or something like that.
She hadn’t really expected him to choose a vampire couple. But didn’t mind, nor did she complain, because as it turned out, that was what she was going to choose as well.
But she wasn’t going to tell him that.
“ What’s wrong? Don’t like the costume?” She asked curiously, her head tilted slightly. But he quickly shook his head.
“ No, the costumes perfect, it’s just…” He hummed as he suddenly held up a container.
“ Should…I leave the teeth? Or bring them with me?” Fuegoleon asked curiously as he stared down at the plastic mouthpiece in his hands, Solara hummed in thought.
“ Hm, I say put them in your pocket and bring them with you. That way if we take any photos you can put them in and complete the loom.” She suggested, and her husband nodded before he put the container in his pocket.
He walked away from the mirror and stood before her, decked out in his costume, and she smiled fondly as she straightened out his vest and cape.
“ Dashing as always, my dear husband.” Solara said with a warm smile as she rested her palms against his chest, feeling his heart thump steadily in his chest.
“ Thank you, and you look as lovely as always, my darling wife.” He told her warmly, his eyes looking down lovingly at her.
Solara reached up just slightly to place a sweet and loving kiss against his lips, a smile worked its way onto her lips as she felt his heart begin to race under her hand.
“ Shall we go? Otherwise the others might think we stood them up.” She said playfully as she pulled away, he blinked at her for a moment, his face a bit red, but he nodded.
“ Yes, let’s go before we’re late.” He agreed before he gently took his wife’s hand into his and walked with her out of their living quarters and out to the city.

The Capital was decorated to perfection.
There were pumpkins, both carved and uncarved, there were fake spider webs, haunted houses, candy, games. Everything you could ever dream of was there.
People were laughing, scaring each other silly, and were eating to their heart's content.
Solara and Fuegoleon walked arm in arm along the cobblestone street, pumpkin shaped containers filled with candy hanging off their arms, smiling and laughing amongst each other. Fuegoleon wasn’t normally one to enjoy or really celebrate Halloween, it was something he did with Leo when he was younger, but after he became Captain of the Crimson Lions he didn’t really have much time to do that with him anymore.
But recently, after meeting Solara, he found that his joy in the “spooky” holiday had been revived.
“ Solara~, Fuegoleon~, over here~!” Zera Cassia, wife of William Vangeance, shouted as she excitedly jumped up and down and waved her hands.
Beside the small woman was the wife of Nacht Faust, Josele Canty, and wife of Nozel Silva, Briar Rose. Their respective husbands standing beside them.
All of them dressed in different costumes that Fuegoleon and Solara completely imagined them all to be wearing.
The husbands greeted each other with small ‘hellos’ and nodded at one another as the wives ran up to each other and began to compliment each other's costumes and talk about their evenings.
“ So, shall we go into the haunted house and then visit the food stands?” Josele suggested, and the others nodded before the four of them linked arms and began to walk down the street together, leaving their husbands behind.
“ They do remember that we’re here right?” Nozel asked as he and the other husbands walked behind their wives.
“ They do. Right now they’re catching up on the latest gossip.” Nacht said with a shake of his head.
“ And look at how happy they are,” Fuegoleon said as he watched Solara smile brightly at a story that Briar was telling. When she noticed her husband staring at her she gave him a sly wink before her smile widened a bit. “ I think they’ve been looking forward to this all week.”
“ I know Zera has,” William agreed with a sigh. “ She’s been gathering as much gossip from her customers as she could just for tonight.” He chuckled softly.
Suddenly, the wives stopped and they each looked at their husbands over their shoulders. Devilish smirks and a mischievous glint suddenly appeared on their faces, and the husbands felt a sense of dread enter their bodies.
“ Oh gods.”
“ We’re in trouble.”
“ They’re plotting something.”
“ Is it too late to run away?”
The wives suddenly rushed towards their husbands, grabbed their hands, and dragged them each into different directions without saying a word.
Which signaled to them that some sort of plan was afoot.
Fuegoleon and Solara half-walked, half-ran down the street. Dodging people and carts. Giggles and chuckles escaping their lips as though they were a couple of teens, before eventually they came across what looked like a photo booth being manned by a…very tiny ghost.
“ Shall we take a few photos?” Solara suggested, a small glint in her eye that told him there was more to this than met the eye.
“ Alright.”
She gently led him in front of the camera and the two began to take a few photos. Some were sweet, some were ‘silly’, some were a little…steamy. But the two were having fun, and that was all that mattered.
Suddenly, as Fuegoleon was fixing his cloak, he felt something latch onto his ankles tightly. He jumped and, without thinking, set the backdrop ablaze. Revealing the tiny ghost, trembling in fear, before it quickly ran away.
“ Oh dear, that backfired, didn't it?” Solara hummed as she quickly began to try and put out the fire, Fuegoleon frowned.
“ You planned this?”
“ We did. That little ghost belongs to Briar, there’s about…5 of them running around here I think? Anyway, I believe the little ghost was hoping you would jump into my arms or something.” She muttered as she rubbed her arms sheepishly, and Fuegoleon felt his face turn red in embarrassment.
“ Ah, I see. So the ghost intended for us to get closer, which is why it scared me.”
“ Yes.”
“ Hmm, how interesting,” Fuegoleon hummed curiously as he moved closer to his wife and wrapped an arm around her waist. “ I wonder if the little ghost came up with that idea on its own, or if someone suggested it to them.”
“ Hm I’m not sure,” Solara said with an ‘innocent’ smirk as she wrapped her arms around her husband's neck. “ Maybe…a bit of both?”
Fuegoleon nodded before he smirked, bent down a bit, and captured his wife's lips in a warm and loving kiss as his arms wrapped around her waist and her arms wrapped around his neck.
The ‘scare’ didn’t really have its intended effect, but in a way, this was a lot better. At least, in Solara’s mind.

if i ever get around to making a flcl themed cosmetic for tf2, i know the perfect thing to reference that both:
fits the art style / setting of tf2, and would look snazy as fuck
i'm talking about canti's jacket !!
yeah my boy Joseph canti ( according to the wiki ) has just what i'd want to reference >:D
firstly, the jacket itself. the jacket is an ma-1 flight jacket ( specifically, the vietnam era type ma-1 flight jacket ( specifically SPECIFICALLY the japanese replica. )) tf2 takes place around the 1960's, meanwhile the jacket was produced around the 1950's, if my information is correct :p
this would fit for both the setting and art style, as i don't see the jacket itself obscuring much, nor being too small of a change. also, due to the jacket being mostly a sage-greenish colour, then it'd be easy to swap out for ( perhaps ) a mellow red colour
( actually, the jackets were initially produced in midnight blue and sage green, with blue being the original colour for the military. then it was replaced by the sage green )
secondly, the jacket is a jacket that was primarily worn by pilots during wars. this would fit with the pvp-styled gamemode that tf2 is known for. personally, i would see this being a cosmetic for scout, soldier, and demo. however i don't think it'd be out of place as an all-class cosmetic
all in all, i think this would be a good cosmetic that would fit the game, while also being a fun, subtle reference to flcl. i know the jacket itself isn't a reference to flcl, but if i were to theoretically Make this and theoretically Name this, then i'd imagine the name would be a subtle ( or not-so subtle ) allusion to flcl. maybe something like "fool's cool flight jacket" or some shit like that lol. idk i'm not clever, tell me if u got ideas tho >:J
ok little ending thing: if i were to make a cosmetic that references flcl without caring about the art style and setting of tf2 i would make pyro wear mamimi's uniform because firestarter >:D
that or give scout / demo a rickenbacker 4001 that makes a loud BWAAAHHH bass noise on hit, so its obnoxiously loud like the frying pan

So the robots that come out of Naota’s head are creations of Medical Mechanica, right? And Atomsk was imprisoned by them, and finally came out in the form of Canti. Who was red before he got his head caved in, if I recall correctly, and became red again when Atomsk awoke inside him. Was Atomsk in Canti when he first showed up? If so, why would Raharu have broken him at the time? Wouldn’t she have wanted to loose him upon the world?

Does anyone remember this book?
It’s fantasy set somewhere in the British Isles, probably somewhen between 800 and 1200 AD (but that’s a wild guess). A teenage girl with some small gift of magic struggles in the household she lives in - she’s the daughter or niece or maybe the adoptee of a king or nobleman. She’s consistently described as small and dark and plain, and her foil is her sister or cousin, who is blonde and fair and beautiful and the favorite, and not very nice.
There’s intrigue and rivalry, and it doesn’t really have a happy ending, though I think there’s a second book.
Small details I can remember:
1. There is (I think) a Viking prisoner who really wants to die by the blood-eagle, and tries to convince the protagonist to perform it on him.
2. The cover is the two girls, done in elaborate detail - I thought the cover artist was Thomas Canty, but I was probably thinking of Snow White and Rose Red. But it’s that kind of style. The palette tends toward brown/yellow/gold.
3. It was published no later than the mid-1990s. Most likely during the 1980s.

Live at Canti Spazializzati#15: PARTYTURY SŁUCHANIA / KONCERT at BWA Wrocław Główny, 21.10.2023.

What I’ve composed for the performance in mind roughly found its graphic representation in the embroidered score . As I said on the stage, the piece does not have a strict chronology (except for this general, dramatic one) so the rag shows the individual embroidered phrases in the order in which they first appear. The order in which they are performed is sometimes arbitrary and intuitive, and sometimes, for example, involves building a melody out of individual phrases over time. In general, the direction of movement through the fabric is like that of a book: from left to right and than the next line, while the placement of the stitches within this logic reproduces the pitch relationships as closely and clearly as I could do it. In this sense, it resembles traditional musical notation, except that it moves through quarter-tone tuning. The guitar is broken into 3 signals (distributed to 8 speakers), the red thread on one side is the unprocessed signal, the red thread on the other side is the signal lowered by an octave and delayed in real time (by foot) and this blue thread mainly foloows mainly the third signal, that is, suspended sounds, not resounding ones. Oh, well, and this blue thread somehow guided me at one point so that I found myself on the other side of the fabric, so from the middle of the rag the order reversed (sorry).

The guitar is broken into 3 signals (distributed to 8 speakers), the red thread on one side is the unprocessed signal, the red thread on the other side is the signal lowered by an octave and delayed in real time (by foot) and this blue thread mainly foloows mainly the third signal, that is, suspended sounds, not resounding ones. Oh, well, and this blue thread somehow guided me at one point so that I found myself on the other side of the fabric, so from the middle of the rag the order reversed (sorry).

Felicia “Fe” Montes è un’artista Xicana molto attiva nella lotta per l’emancipazione delle donne indigene.
Utilizza l’arte come strumento educativo e sociale. È una delle più eminenti rappresentanti dell’attivismo di nuova generazione che recrimina il proprio spazio culturale utilizzando tecniche contemporanee per far sopravvivere la tradizione e la dignità di popolazioni native che rischiano di scomparire.
Ha contribuito a fondare e dirigere i collettivi artistici femminili, Mujeres de Maiz, In Lak Ech e il mercato online per il movimento, Urban Xic.
I suoi lavori fanno parte della collezione permanente del Los Angeles County Museum of Art. La documentazione delle sue performance viene conservata nell’archivio del Woman’s Building, LA.
Nata il 29 novembre 1975, vive e lavora a Los Angeles. Si è laureata in belle arti all’UCLA con master al CSUN e all’Otis College of Art & Design.
Attiva in prima linea per le rivendicazioni femminili delle popolazioni native, crea opere che aspirano al cambiamento sociale e spirituale.
Ha lavorato con i principali centri artistici e sociali di Los Angeles, tra cui Self Help Graphics, Proyecto Pastoral e United Farm Workers. Ha organizzato eventi culturali con i movimenti zapatisti, Peace & Dignity Journeys e La Red Xicana Indigena.

Un suo saggio è contenuto nel libro Rushing Waters, Rising Dreams e in un’antologia di Third Woman Press.
Ha inciso un album di floetry e hip-hop e creato una linea d’abbigliamento che porta il suo nome, FE. Utilizza ogni mezzo artistico e sociale per sensibilizzare e creare consapevolezza nelle donne delle popolazioni native.
Ogni suo lavoro, multimediale, performance o installazione, si concentra su mobilità, genere, cultura e rituali ed è sempre basato sul senso di comunità.
Ha insegnato nelle scuole pubbliche di Los Angeles e tenuto corsi di studi Xicana presso l’UC Santa Barbara e l’East Los Angeles College. È anche docente e oratrice in varie università tra cui la UCLA, UT San Antonio, UC Davis e altre.
Studia e pratica la medicina tradizionale messicana e azteca/messicana, oltre danze, canti e tradizioni indigene.
È anche una facilitatrice qualificata di circoli di conversazione e co-formatrice per la rete nazionale Compadres.

Higashioka, Showalter, Nimmo, Sörenstam to be honored at 43rd Annual Thurman Munson Awards Dinner Feb. 7
The 43rd annual Thurman Munson Awards Dinner will benefit AHRC New York City Foundation on Tuesday night, February 7th at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers (23rd Street at West Side Highway) in New York City, and the honorees have been announced today: New York Yankees catcher and ’21 Roberto Clemente Award nominee Kyle Higashioka; New York Mets centerfielder Brandon Nimmo; New York Mets manager and four-time Manager of the Year Buck Showalter; and LPGA champion & World Golf Hall of Famer Annika Sörenstam will all receive Thurman Munson Awards in the “Class of 2023.”
The “Thurmans” are presented to individuals for on-field excellence, community outreach, and betterment of their sport. The AHRC NYC benefit has helped to keep the memory of the legendary Yankees catcher and captain Thurman Munson alive since his untimely passing 43 years ago, while raising more than $19 million for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead richer, more productive lives.
Thurman's widow Diana Munson is an honorary chair who has supported AHRC NYC and its fund-raising efforts through the Thurman Munson Awards for four decades, and will be in attendance.

Special guests for the evening will include previous Thurman Award honorees: Radio Hall of Famer and WFAN Yankees analyst Suzyn Waldman (previous Media Hero recipient), Football Giants Super Bowl champions Harry Carson, Chris Canty and Karl Nelson; as well as Thurman's teammate and two-time Yankees World Series Champion Roy White, Giants Super Bowl champ Howard Cross, YES Network personality Nancy Newman, former women’s featherweight boxing champion Heather Hardy, popular New York Radio/TV personality Sweeny Murti, WFAN Radio golf and tennis reporter Ann Liguori, and former Mets pitcher Nelson Figueroa with others to be announced.
The list of previous Thurman Munson Award recipients reads like a “Who’s Who” of sports stars for the ages including: Muhammad Ali, Arthur Ashe, Yogi Berra, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, Joe Torre, Bernie Williams, Tom Seaver, Mike Piazza, Gary Carter, David Wright, Willis Reed, Patrick Ewing, Julius Erving, Jim Brown, Harry Carson, Aly Raisman, Nancy Lieberman, Theresa Weatherspoon, and Mark Messier, just to name a few.
Kyle Higashioka was a seventh-round selection by the Yankees in the 2008 MLB Draft. After battling a series of injuries early in his minor league career, Kyle made his major league debut for the Yankees in 2018 when Gary Sánchez was sidelined. After starting his major league career 0-for-22, the longest hitless streak to start a Yankee career of any position player ever, he had his first major league hit, a home run, on July 1 against the Boston Red Sox. His next two hits, on July 3 and July 4 against the Atlanta Braves, were also circuit blasts, making him the ninth MLB player since 1920 to have three home runs as his first three hits. On September 16, 2020, Higashioka hit three home runs in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays to became the 24th Yankee to hit three HR in a game. On May 19, 2021, Higashioka caught Corey Kluber's no-hitter against the Texas Rangers, the first Yankees to catch a no-hitter since Joe Girardi caught David Cone's perfect game in 1999.
Higashioka was the Yankees 2021 nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award which embodies representing the game of baseball through extraordinary character and community involvement, both on and off the field. In 2006, MLB opened its first Urban Youth Academy in Compton, CA. Among the athletes who attended the inaugural camp was Higashioka. He grew up roughly 25 miles away in Huntington Beach, looking for any and every opportunity to achieve his goal of playing professional baseball. He never forgot the impact the MLB Youth Academy had on him and the trajectory of his career. He spent numerous offseasons volunteering his time to support the social reach of the program. The academy focuses on Inner City youth, and assists after-school programs, preparing kids for any type of life, whether it's professional baseball or getting in the workforce. Kyle has embraced the causes of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which ensures complete post-secondary educational support and additional educational opportunities for eligible surviving children of fallen Special Operations Personnel and children of all Medal of Honor Recipients; and provides immediate financial assistance to severely wounded, ill, and injured Special Operations Personnel.
Four-time Manager of the Year Buck Showalter, in his first season at the helm of the Mets last season, led the team to a 101-win campaign en route to the best skipper trophy. During a 30-year managerial career, Showalter has amassed 1,652 victories managing the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Rangers, Orioles, and Mets. Like Thurman, Showalter was drafted by the Bronx Bombers, and is a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame. (Thurman led the Chatham A's to their first league title with a .420 batting average, while Showalter, playing for the Hyannis Mets, won the league batting title with a .434 average). Showalter was an All-American and set the Mississippi State record for batting average in a season by hitting .459 during the 1977 season.
Showalter participated in the Amazin’ Mets Foundation’s second annual Homeruns & Highballs fundraiser last July, the team’s largest fundraising event of the season. AMF is committed to providing needed services and opportunities to children, families and underserved groups in neighborhoods and communities to inspire change and make a lasting impact on and off the field. On the 21st anniversary of 9/11, Showalter and the team paid tribute to the first responders during the game against the Marlins. While managing Baltimore, Buck supported the LUNGevity Foundation, a charity inspired by the Orioles late public relations director Monica Pence Barlow.
The homegrown smiling, starting centerfielder Brandon Nimmo was a first round pick by New York in the 2011 MLB draft, and made his big league debut for the Mets in 2016. The seven-year veteran enjoyed his finest season last year, recording 159 hits, 30 doubles, and 64 RBI with 580 at bats in 151 games, all career highs. His 16 home runs fell one short of equaling his lifetime best of 17 circuit blasts. During the off season, the Cheyanne, Wyoming native signed a nine-year contract with the Mets. Nimmo played for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic in 2017.
During the off season, Nimmo dressed as an elf at the Mets annual holiday party. Last season, Nimmo held a special sandlot baseball game for local Little Leaguers at Flushing’s Hinton Park on July 8 with two dozen Little Leaguers taking part. Following a pre-game pep talk, Nimmo spent much of the game pitching to the kids, playing the outfield, and giving players fist bumps when they made a good play. Nimmo has also taken part in the fundraiser Call of Duty: Warzone Charity Royale to support veterans with teammate Pete Alonso. Nimmo was named the Mets recipient of the 2022 Heart and Hustle Award, awarded to players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game, by the MLB Players Alumni Association.
Annika Sörenstam is the most celebrated and winningest female professional golfer in history as a three-time Women’s U.S. Open champion, three-time PGA champion and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. In 2003, she achieved a career Grand Slam, winning at least once in her career each of the four tournaments recognized as major championships. She tops the LPGA’s all-time money list with earnings in excess of $22 million. In all, the native of Sweden has captured 72 official LPGA tournaments and has been named Player of the Year a record eight times.
Annika created the ANNIKA Foundation (www.annikafoundation.org) to provide opportunities in women’s golf at the junior, collegiate and professional levels while teaching young people the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition. It annually conducts six major golf events for aspiring junior girls throughout the world. And with the support of the Haskins Commission, the Foundation created the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel, which is given annually to the best collegiate female golfer. Since 2014, the Foundation has also annually hosted the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M, a college tournament featuring 12 top Division I schools. Each year, the Foundation also conducts several “Share My Passion” grass roots clinics designed to introduce kids to the game.

Una speranza per nulla velleitaria, visto il cast di straordinari attori che vi hanno partecipato. Protagonisti Raul Bova e Serena Autieri tra dolori esistenziali, piccole gioie quotidiane e sogni ancora possibili, incastrati in un passato che, a volte, ritorna, e nelle difficili relazioni con i figli adolescenti. Leggerezza, sentimenti e tante risate: un mix esplosivo di ingredienti che si preannuncia altamente esplosivo. Non resta che andare al cinema per guardare il film. Buona visione a tutti!
