BENGALURU MASS MOLESTATION “Phone vechitt padikkan nokku! (Keep your phone away and study!)” said my parents as I was surfing through various posts and tweets and videos… To be precise, Jaby Koay reactions and reviews. “If only he reviewed Malayalam flicks like Ezra, Guppy…” I wondered. It would be a damn good thing for Mollywood films to reach out. So I start tweeting to him about it. With the possibilities of my tweets being submerged in the sea of tweets already there, I went to Facebook to PM him with the hope that he takes time to skim through his inbox. On FB, I saw trending topics. As usual, I clicked on them to get some scoops of what was happening around the world. And then I landed upon the New Year’s Eve Mass Molestation story from Begaluru. And as usual, there were people who were blaming the women’s attire. Patriarchal hypocrisy at its top form. People defending the women were being labelled White Knights. By the way… I should be officially sworn in as a Knight… Or be Knighthood. For long, people have called me that - different situations, but same basic nature And of course, I have been called a “feminist”, “feminazi” by self proclaimed Meninists. It’s ironic as I am an egalitarian, a term which many confuse with feminist. They are two different terms people! Now the different comment sections had clashes of cringeworthy nature. On one side, women and some men were saying it was pathetic that a few weaklings had resorted to disgusting behaviour. On the other side, there was the BGS (Blame Game Section) comprising largely of men with their pathetically-obtained scientific points (trust me, they are poor points) and “Cultural policing”. The ironic and the disgusting thing was that they were defending men and blaming the women. Jump a few hours hence and I am surfing through the net. And then I come across the chilling footage of a girl in Indian attire being groped and abused by hooligans - oh they are males. Men. Not women. I skim through the comments section and I was saddened to see lack of BGS comments… Oh wait! There it is! “Why are women roaming at night time? They are inviting all the attention! Those men were drunk and were under the influence of alcohol. It was not their fault. It was of the women!”. Have to say, the grammar used to express ancient thinking was good. The ancient thinking good? Nah. Which brings me to these questions… WHY are the women always blamed? Of course, there are cases of the women being at fault. But blaming the women at every cost in every situations? That’s atrocious. WHY is the dressing the main source of creation for filthy thoughts? Come on people! You say a woman wearing western dress invites molesters but when it comes to the 3 month old babies and old women, it is due to the filthy thinking. Why is the point of filthy thinking discarded and dressing taken as the important point when it comes to violence on 15-59 year old woman? That’s total hypocrisy. WHY are some men defending all men with #NotAllMen hashtag? Everyone, including us men, is aware of the reality that many men may or may not have had a pleasant, self-disciplined bringing up. But many of us are the opposite of that gross section. There is no need to defend men. Things like that makes me ashamed to be a man. Makes other genuine men ashamed of being men. And by genuine men, I am describing the men who have 0 problems with the way other women are dressed and how they are behaving. Different people have different attitudes and dressing sense. None needs to pressurise others with regards to those things. You are NOBODY to control other’s choices of lifestyle. WHY do people still stand by as spectators when something filthy or serious is happening in front of their eyes, as if they are attending some event? After watching movies depicting heroism and good deeds, people choose remain silent when something erroneous is happening before their eyes. Be it an accident or a scene of molestation, people are happy to watch it as spectators. Some might be even recording the situation in their phones/tabs/whatever-device so that they could upload it on FB to gain some views. THOSE VIEWS WON’T MAKE THE WRONG YOU COMMITTED DURING THE RECORDING - BEING SILENT. That Bengaluru CCTV footage of the woman being groped, forcibly kissed and robbed had a bunch of people happily watching the proceedings - only to say they were lesser in number to react. No, they weren’t. Why #NotAllMen? Why not #StopViolenceOnWomen? Why not #BeARealMan? Why not #RealMenSupportWomen? Oh yes… The last one will result in a sea of poorly conceived sarcastic comments from the underdeveloped brains. As I placed my phone after watching the footage… I gazed into the sky, sunlight splitted into couple of rays by the leaves from a nearby tree. It’s very hard to get proper sunlight because of the leaves… Just like it is impossible to achieve balance in the society owing to the presence of many evils, hypocrisies and fear… Act now. At least.

∆∆∆ I didn't know how badly i want this to become a reality. Hell,this goes for all male, female, and grey-scale peeps. If we can't help one another with our periods, then who can? Truly, I myself would be flattered if ANYONE saw me in pain and offered to help anyway they could. I hate how we as a society have allowed gutter politics to become the norm in America.
