This panel from the KH3 manga is funny to me.

Some old drawings I made of Aqua, drawing her the way I had imagined her after 12 years of being stuck in the Realm of Darkness. Ngl., I didn't like how she didn't change at all during that "time".

What do you think a Kingdom Hearts Roguelike would look like?

I would like to preface this by saying that I only had an extremely vague of what qualifies as a rogue like and looked it up on wikipedia.

I don’t think the permadeath angle would work extremely well but hey the Mystery Dungeon genre started by Chunsoft featuring the pokemon and final fantasy chocobo spinoffs dont have permadeath. So it’s not that mandatory, it’s more the idea of being put back on floor 1 in their cases. Final Fantasy 14 also has special dungeons of this style in which you have to start over from floors 1/21/51 if your party dies.

In universe setting wise that would be a great way to explore the Realm of darkness again. 0.2 already featured the world drastically changing appearance and structure so the randomly generated floors would feel normal. Heck the devs could invent that some worlds stayed there for too long and the post KH1 reset wasn’t enough to resurface them. As of player resource management, Kingdom Hearts X chi limited the number of enemies you could attack each trip into the dark corridor trials unless you used an item. That’s what the beads of light bracelet was for, the white riding hood version of the organization coat being a item that refilled the beads. It could be expanded upon given hunger or sleep is not a thing in the rod.

Riven adjusted his straps on his armor making sure everything was tight and not going to fall off in the middle of training. Musa sauntered up to him just as he finished. She held her arms out indicating she was ready. Riven grabbed the runic limiters and held them above her wrists. They hovered there for a moment while he looked to her eyes for confirmation. She gave him a brief nod and he let them go as they settled themselves onto her wrists. She winced so briefly that he almost missed it. He gently grabbed her hands in a firm but gentle grasp. She was sporting one of her smiles that were becoming more usual now. She was smiling but he could see the pain behind it. He gently carresed his fingers on her wrists. "You know you don't have to be strong in front of me right." He says while frowning. She looked up at him with a studying gaze that only he knew was her trying to hide her emotions. He knew that she wanted to cry and curl up into a ball. And he also knew that he wanted to hold her. Everyone had taken blooms departure hard but her, Terra, and Aisha had taken the worst of it. Bloom was her friend and she could sense all of her emotions. She could sense her care for everyone in the suite. She could also sense her need to protect Musa. Bloom was like musa's older sister and musa was devastated. Whenever everyone's else's emotions became to hard to deal with she ran to Bloom. But now how cold she do that when she was gone. "I'm fine Riven stop worrying so much." She looked at him with a forced smile that did 'we'll talk later, but right now I need to get my mind off things and train'. He gave a brief nod and picked up the wooden staffs they were training with. He tossed it to her and she caught it in mid air doing a twirl above her head and planting it firmly on the platform they were training on. He lunges at her and she quickly slid to the side using her smaller size and speed to her advantage. He spun around and both there staffs clashed. They did that for a few more minutes until riven grew bold. He tried disarming her and she quickly kicked his leg in and pinned him onto the platform. He didn't get up partially because her staff was on his dick and mostly because he was frozen in place from her breath on his face. "Like what you feel there red flag?" He says with his usual smirk. He was going to say something else but quickly shut up as she pushed her staff down onto his dick a bit harder. "Okay okay point taken!!!" He said with closed eyes trying to get away from the slow pain coursing up his body. She eased up on that and got off him. He was a little sad at the loss of contact. He smiled at the plan forming in his head. She brushed her hair back onto her head and turned back to him. They were both really sweaty. She offered him a hand and he accepted. He took ahold of her have and let her lift him up a moment before pulling her down and lining her under him. "This is much better." He said with a satisfied smirk. Her breath hitched and she looked at his face more intently annoying l analyzing his every feature. His eyes skimmed over her face until his eyes reached her lips. They parted and quivered a bit under his gaze. He leaned in as she closed her eyes. She reached her head up as far as possible. They were so close. He could feel her breath on his lips. He was about to close the distance then-"MUSA ARE YOU HERE!?!" Yelled the voice of one of musa's annoying ass roommates. He got off of her and offered her a hand. She reached for it heaving out a defeated sigh. She closed her eyes and yelled out to the voice "YEAH AISHA!?!?" Great, just great. One of the fairy's that hates him the most. She appeared into view and began running to them. She had lots of books in her arms. She was wearing a blue jacket and her normal grey sweats. Once she arrived at platform she began rambling of words at a hundred miles per hour. He didn't know how anyone could speak so fast. "Aisha, slow down, what is it?" Aisha heaved out a breath and began gesturing to her stack of books. Once she steadied her breath she spoke.

"We know how to find Bloom..."

KH Japanese Translations Part 3

Series where I discussed changes dialogue using correct translations that I found online

The first one is in the Realm of Darkness where Mickey and Riku are talking.

The scene in general confuses people because in the localization Riku makes a big reaction and says

WHAAAAAAAAAAAT

In the localization Mickey just tells Riku, Aqua is like Sora. It actually was Aqua looks like Sora which still is kinda confusing because he doesn't look like her?

But it would explain the reaction.

Mickey reassures him and then in this scene Riku says something,

"Okay, if you look like Sora, you'll feel safer."

However the English version does this, "Okay... Good. Then, I guess she's gonna be all right."

It completely takes away the fact he said Sora. Like why??

Why did you take that away?

Like is it because it's trying to hide something?

Then later in KH3 when you are saving everyone from defeat,

Namine says this:

Kairi is holding it up. Hurry and go.

Surely the fates of defeat can be changed.

However the English one makes Namine say,

It's because she is holding you together. Go.

Maybe that'll be enough to tip the scale in the other direction.

And that's kinda.. yeahhh it's very false and trying to be more romantic than the original line.

Like okay maybe she is a little bit, but it is Riku too since Riku is the light and all part of that lore.

But I don't understand why the English one has to make everything Hetero.

At the end of KH2, Sora and Riku arrive at the Dark Margin to see Aqua, Ansem the Wise, and the ghost/remnants of Riku Replica playing hangman in the sand.

Yes, Riku, you have been there before with Sora at the end of the KH2 manga.

Trapped in Darkness AU

I know this pic is showing KH3 Sora and Riku, but the first thing I thought of was an AU where they don't escape to the realm of light at the end of KH2.

And Riku, who has more experience staving off or balancing out the dark with his light, is there for Sora as the environment forces his friend to confront his inner darkness while slowly trying to corrupt him.

Sora being aware of and trying to keep anti or rage form from Riku would definitely be a thing. Like, the boy accepted Riku as he paraded around in the Ansem ensemble. But having a form of darkness himself and potentially disappointing Riku of all people - there's no way!

Will post more for this if I can string thoughts together. Right now I'm just fumbling around with the "why are these two like this" phase.
