Rayman/OC animatic previews
Many months ago I started an animatic based on the adventures my friends and I get up to on our Rayman (& multiverse) RP server, and here it is completed after nine months in development! hopefully it will have been worth the wait,
(Fair warning that the plot of this video will most probably be incomprehensible without the context of the roleplay, but hopefully the pretty pictures make up for it ghbgh)
Watch it >HERE<
Feat: @claraknight @thessdrawsstuff @slightly-gay-pogohammer @cindersalad @robeatnic  @limblesswanderer @nausinoisette @fullgrownpizza and myself, and of course @starflethegreat who made the server and without whom none of this would have been possible!

Rayman Head Canons: Voice Claims Part 2
So a little note before we begin, Rayman Retold had a few faces that were introduced in Rayman 2. I found out that The Great Escape (PS1) and Rayman Revolution (PS2) versions had completely different types of voice acting when it came to the English dubbing. A few of the credited voices had "Rayman 2," but not really anything specific. I'll have to rely on clips and I might not have much info on the voice actors in question.
-----------------------------------------------
Admiral Razorbeard:
I've changed the voice claim from when this post was first made. As much as I loved the previous one, I decided to go back to giving Admiral Razorbeard the voice he had in Rayman Revolution.
Razorbeard was going to be another major villain within the Rayman Retold Project I was working on. Despite his defeat, he was going to return sometime down the line alongside his wife.
youtube
-----------------------------------------------
Jano, The first Nightmare:
Jano actually has 2 voice claims: One when he speaks English, and one that is his native Nightmarish tongue.
For his English lines, I did research and my results were pretty empty. considering Jano actually had 2 English voice actors that depended on which version of Rayman 2 you played and they were VERY different voice portrayals.
Here's the differences between the Rayman 2 playstation games with Jano's English voice:
youtube
When Jano speaks English, it's the voice he had within Rayman Revolution, or the PS2 version. It's the language you hear him use the most when he's communicating with members of the glade that enter his lair.
Within Rayman Retold, his native tongue is a language only used by creatures of nightmare origin. It's mostly referred to as “Nightmarish” but doesn’t actually have an official name. for Jano, its the “Raymanese” voice sound effect he had from Rayman 2.
You don't normally hear Jano pulling the nightmarish language and the voice that goes with it unless he is in a fit of rage, or he’s attempting to corrupt those into his puppets.
youtube
-----------------------------------------------
Barbara the Barbarian:
Kelly Macdonald. If you don’t know who Kelly Macdonald is…then allow me to post the clip that pretty much speaks for itself.
youtube
-----------------------------------------------
Ales Mansay the Teensie Magician
Jess Harnell.
I blame this on when I was shown scenes from Sophia the First, and when I was picking up Ales' Pig Latin voice lines from Origin one night. I couldn't unhear this since, and now I portray Ales with the same vibes and personality as Cedric.

Rayman's Rage [Rayman 2 Fanfic]
By the time Rayman burst into Razorbeard's quarters, he was blind with rage.
He had been imprisoned on Razorbeard's slave ship. Stripped of his powers. Beaten, taunted and mocked. Then thrown in a cell to rot.
He had been forced to witness unspeakable atrocities inflicted onto fellow prisoners. People who once lived peacefully in the Glade, people he had a duty to protect. Now they were in what he could only describe as hell.
When he escaped and returned to land, what he saw there was almost worse. The pirates had left nothing but destruction in their wake. The Glade and its remaining inhabitants were broken shells of their former selves.
The more he pushed on, the bleaker it got. Stories of people disappearing, simply vanishing without a trace. Feared to have been captured by the pirates, or worse. Anguished, tear stained faces of families mourning their loved ones. So much pain and loss. He felt it all. It threatened to consume him.
The Glade he knew had been a place of peace and tranquility, but this was different. This wasn't peace, it was emptiness. Everybody was hiding. Nobody wanted to be found.
At some point, the heaviness in his heart morphed into seething restement. A pure, burning hatred towards the pirates and what they had done to his home, to the people he cared about.
He wasn't sure when exactly it happened. But if he had to guess, it may have been when he encounted a distraught Uglette in the Iron Mountains, wailing because the pirates had taken Globox and the children, and now she had nothing left.
Or when he freed Ly, severely weakened from imprisonment and possibly torture at the hands of the pirates.
It had to be upon encountering Clark, who, despite his enormous prowess, was on the brink of death when he found him. In fending off the pirates, he had used all but the last of his strength.
There were too many such incidents to count. But each one solidified his resolve to hunt down Razorbeard and destroy him. That's what kept him going towards the end, like a flame burning brightly on candlewax. It was no longer about being a hero. It was about retribution.
So when he finally reached Razorbeard's quarters and kicked in the doors, Rayman's body was burning with rage. A rage that until now, he hadn't known he was capable of feeling. A rage that made him want to avenge his friends who had been horrifically scarred, and his home that had been brought to near destruction. A rage that reduced his vision down to a single pinpoint. A rage that made him want to destroy everything in sight.
Rayman's eyes locked in on Razorbeard as he started swinging his fist. He channelled the pain, the trauma, the rage, condensing it all into a single point, ready to aim.
He was going to make this one count. For his friends. For the Glade.

The RayClone Theory: Why It Could Be Possible
(Massive Spoilers for CLH below) Tw: Ab//se, Imprisonment, D3ath, Really Bad Pacing on My Part <3
With me thinking about this way too much, I’ve come up with a thought. Have you ever wondered why the CLH Rayman is so… different from his in-game persona?
No, it’s not because it's a remix. Think deeper. Examine them under a microscope.
It could be because… they’re not the same person.
Now, this may sound like another silly cartoon theory, but hear me out. I have… proof. Aka overanalyzing, but school taught me to do that.
So, what is the RayClone Theory? Well, to put it simple, the Rayman we see in the show isn't the ‘first’ Rayman. There’s been many in the past. Many, as in 5 or so. How? That’s what this post is for. So, let's go back to the beginning. Mushing both Rayman and CLH lore alike.
To make this simpler, we’re gonna establish a rule. Referring to all the Raymen in the show as ‘Rayman’ is very, very confusing. So I will make a list:
OG Rayman - Rayman CLH Rayman - Ramon Rayplacement - Fakeman
Get it? Got it? Good. Let’s start.
According to the Rayman lore, Rayman was created with one purpose in mind: To protect the Glade (or, in this case, Dimension X). He was created for one thing only. To protect. To be the ‘hero’.
Tumblr media
In the games, he’s never failed before. He thrives and beats the bad guy. But remember, this isn’t the games. It’s a remix. A what-if. This leads into:
What if Rayman failed? What does he do then?
And not like, fails as in Rayman 2, fail as in royally fucked up. Fail as in, the closest one to him dies by ‘his hand’. No, not Globox, he was considered alive by Adi. But you know who he didn’t confirm?
Betilla the Fairy.
You could be thinking: “Duh, of course she wasn’t mentioned. He was being broad.”, but he mentioned Razorbeard. His ass wasn’t relevant since Rayman M. So why mention him, but not Rayman’s literal mom??
Because she's not alive.
Eden (and America) has always been a resource hungry society. It’s human nature. In this timeline, society progresses much quicker than in the real world (flying cars in 1992). Progress needs resources. Have you ever noticed that Eden is barren of all plant life? It’s because Eden (or America) used it all for industrialization.
How does this relate to Rayman? You know how the Glade of Dreams is a lush forest? Resources from massive jungles to deep oceans to towering mountains? Imagine what a power-hungry company (or companies) would do if they discovered this.
*Insert How Bad Can I Be Here*
The creation of the Super-Scope must’ve been revolutionary. The ability to travel to other dimensions with one click of a trigger. Resources galore.
Sarah Fisher mentions in ep2 that the Golder Super-Scope was stolen from Eden’s labs. So, what’s stopping Eden from creating this material? Nothing. That’s what.
Tumblr media
Eden, still a sorta underground company, creates this gun and finds Dimension X. Filled with lush resources ripe for the picking. The critters of the Glade don’t know their ‘bad guys’. They don’t look inherently bad. So they leave them be.
Rabbids. The little bunny fellas.
The Kaiju monsters in the show. How does that become a monster? It’s easy. Toxic chemicals. Not just any toxic chemicals, but Eden’s toxic chemicals from polluting the Glade.
I’m getting distracted, back to Rayman.
Kaiju Rabbids started popping around Dimension X. They started small and inefficient until they got bigger and bigger. Rayman took care of them, yes, but one day, he got absolutely bombarded by a hoard of Rabbids.
A massive war broke out between the citizens of the Dimension and the Rabbids. No one knows how it started because Eden left after it got all it needed.
Rayman, having ‘hero-ing’ literally coded into him, fights back. Others help, yes, but it’s mostly Rayman doing the fighting.
This leads into Betilla, and how she died.
Rayman was getting jumped by Rabbids, so she came in to save him, risking her life as a result. Yes, her sacrifice did stun the Rabbids and cause them to flee into the depths of Dimension X, but Rayman feels like he’s one to blame.
No one really fully ‘died’ in the games. Sure, they got kidnapped, possessed, you name it. But no explicit deaths besides villains.
So, imagine what that does to a guy when his first, full on death witness was with his creator, his mother.
He doesn’t take it too well.
Yes. Rayman was a hero and drove out the Rabbids, but he didn’t save everybody. He couldn’t save his mom.
He failed.
Lost and confused, Rayman runs to find… something. He runs away, something he’s never done before. He never backed down from a fight. So why is he now?
Well, because he’s scared. Scared for his life and others.
Betilla saved him with her own life. She died because of him. Heroes are supposed to be giving the sacrifice. Not receiving it.
Rayman blames himself. If he’s out of the picture, then no one else would risk their life for his.
Tumblr media
The art book says that they destroyed the dimension, but Globox, the Teensies, and even Razorbeard are alive, so the dimension can’t be unlivable. So what if this use of ‘dimension’ was less literal?
This may sound far-off, but Rayman’s “dimension” could be talking about Betilla. She created him, so she is his ‘dimension’.
This transition into Eden! Or, America currently.
Rayman goes into America looking for a fresh start. To find his purpose. He failed his original purpose (which was to be a hero and save everybody), so he blocked out everything that happened originally to start a fresh start.
Or, every immigration story ever. Leaving behind what you loved for a better start.
He needed a new purpose. And that purpose is to be an entertainer!
His origin in America is the same as the show. He goes to college, gets outcasted, and rises with Eden.
Things are different here than with Ramon. Rayman is… less constricted here.
Back when Eden was new (most likely had good intentions), they weren’t worried about Rayman finding the truth. There was no truth to find. So Rayman was allowed to explore, make friends, talk to people and hybrids below his social class.
One day, he met a hybrid journalist. One of the lower-income hybrids, but a very strong writer. Rayman admired their work, being a news reporter and all, and the two became really good friends, even with him getting them a job at Eden.
Then, the journalist goes snooping. Eden wasn’t as terrible as it is in the present day, but it still did bad things. The hybrid craves justice (like any other journalist) and stations a revolt. It affects Eden, but nothing major except getting the journalist put in jail.
Rayman finds out and goes to give his buddy a visit and to ask what happened. Rayman (still under the influence of Eden) explains that they shouldn’t have revolted and that Eden is great. The hybrid shows him the articles and photos (which were disapproved by Eden so they weren’t published) and explains their side of the story. Since the journalist was low-income, they experienced the biases and issues of Eden first hand.
Rayman obviously seeks the truth as well, promising that he could save the journalist. He goes to the Board of the Directors with the proof and articles, demanding an explanation. Not in a violent way like Ramon, but in a diplomatic manner.
(Keep in mind, Rayman has been questioning Eden in recent weeks from folks he’s talked with in his downtime)
Sound familiar? Of course it does. It happens in the show. Clones are still clones, y’know?
The Board, unsure on how to react with their poster boy finding their fucked up ways, tells Rayman that they’ll explain tomorrow.
Rayman, still trusting of the Board, agrees and waits it out. The next day, he awakens, chained in a dingy room.
Why? Well, the Board knew that Rayman’s act wouldn’t be as efficient if he knew what he was saying was bullshit. Think Disney’s Bolt. So what do they do?
Try out their latest technology, of course. And that was a cloning device.
Now, you can’t just clone Rayman. He’s an alien. Not an organic lifeform. So, how did Eden approach it?
Lums. Take bits of Rayman, combine it with various animals, and boom. Almost perfect Rayman clone.
Clones are never perfect. Each one has an imperfection, little or big. And the Lums is what gives Rayman his main form.
So, chain him to the basement so he’s always on hand. Duh.
Rayman stays in that basement for at least 10 years. Sad, alone, and going insane. He can’t die; he’s immortal. Eden goes through at least 4 or 5 different RayClones before landing on Ramon. I’ll go into Ramon in a bit.
When a RayClone is too imperfect or steps out of line, the Board sends one of the Niji 6 to eliminate them. This is shown by this line of dialogue:
Tumblr media
“Taking care of”? What do they imply by that? Maybe it implies that they were sent to assassinate Rayman, or in this case, Ramon.
So, RayClone bodies can’t exactly decompose. Yes, they can die and lose consciousness, but those Lums inside them don’t allow the body to rot. So what happened to those bodies? Leave them in the depths of Eden to rot.
Back to Rayman, one day, he manages to slip his hand loose from the chains and free him. This happens when Ramon is just made. The Board orders the Niji 6 to hunt and bring back Rayman. During his escape attempt, Rayman accidentally causes an explosion ‘killing him’.
We’re gonna pause his story and shift to Ramon.
Now, I wanna talk about his reaction to Red in ep3. Clones share the same memories as the original, but they don’t experience it the same. It’s like knowing something and actually being there.
The Rabbids attack, but Ramon isn’t really stressed about them attacking. Was he that faithful in the Niji 6? Or was it something else?
Tumblr media
Was it because he doesn’t have that trauma about them?
When Red calls Ramon an “interdimensional alien scum," Ramon bursts? Why? Because he experienced it. He experienced being belittled and talked down by his colleagues at work. He knows how it feels, so he’s pissed.
Tumblr media
If Rayman was in his place, Rayman would be fidgety and panicky about the Rabbids and brush over Red insulting him. If anything, Rayman would be thanking Red for stopping them. Yes, Rayman was talked down in college and his early days, but the Rabbids changed his life.
You could argue that it’s because he had his cry before the cameras were running, but he shows no sign of that. No voice cracks or eye twitches. And the fight just happened, which explains the presence of Red.
Going back in time for a moment-
Ramon was the latest RayClone and the last one with the ‘death’ of Rayman. This makes Eden super protective over him and his opinion on Eden. Other RayClones in the past were either too disfigured to seamlessly become Rayman, or found / was close to the truth. They need to keep Ramon pure.
How does one keep something pure and untouched? Isolated them, of course!
Tumblr media
(Note the use of the word ‘illusory’ here)
This also explains the ‘Eden-generated’ scripts. Rayman wrote his own scripts. Rayman said his own opinion. Now, 10+ years later, Eden writes Ramon’s scripts. Ramon says Eden’s opinion.
Tumblr media
If he was stripped of his freedom, then how would he be infected with the truth?
If he wasn’t needed anymore.
This is where Fakeman comes in. I think Fakeman is Raymesis, due to those yellow eye highlights you can see in a split second.
Tumblr media
The Board wasn’t as faithful in Ramon as they were previously. He might’ve had some outbursts before ep3. They needed a backup. They can’t clone him, the clone would be to fucked up. They needed another Rayman.
Remember the Rabbid invasion in ep2 / 3? While the Niji 6 was dealing with the kaijus, guess who was snooping around the Glade for a Rayplacement?
Raymesis was kidnapped and forced to work for Eden if he liked it or not. They weren’t going to clone him yet, but to keep him in line, instead of acceptance (like they did with Rayman), they used threats.
This explains Fakeman’s uneasiness in ep6 with Retribution Day. That was his first big acting event, and the one Eden decided if he’s replacing Rayman on stage or in the basement.
Tumblr media
Look at his face when it’s canceled. Bro looks scared shitless.
But Fakeman and his lore / personality is a whole ‘nother post.
Ramon follows the same path as Rayman. Seeing something unfair (Rayman’s friend getting arrested and Ramon losing his job), and doing something about it.
It’s that Ramon is filled with vengeance and anger because his whole life was a lie.
Rayman is filled with doubt and confusion because he just refound his purpose, and that was a lie.
Rayman’s whole journey throughout this is finding his purpose. His original purpose was to ‘save everybody’, and that failed. He went to America to find a purpose and did with Eden. In his character bio in the art book mentions this purpose line.
Tumblr media
“Even happier that Eden gave him purpose”. Why? Because he lost his original purpose! He felt he was nothing before Eden gave him everything. He’s under the mindset that Eden gave him his meaning of life again.
They quite literally saved his life.
Anyway, what does Rayman do after his ‘death’? Have an identity crisis of course! He was locked up for over 10 years, his brain is scrambled eggs at this point!
He failed his purpose for Eden, so he resorts back to his original purpose: Be a Hero.
But, what about the Rayman on TV? Is he the real one?
Rayman’s mindset is that he was created to be a hero. Heroes are brave, speak the truth, and rise up against bad. What is the Rayman on TV doing?
He’s being brave, speaking the ‘truth’, and rising up against ‘bad’.
What’s the real Rayman doing?
He’s being a coward, secret about what he knows and saw, and hiding against the bad.
Heroes don’t do that. So Rayman must be a fake. He must be the RayClone. He’s the mistake. At least, that’s what he made himself think.
Now, I won’t get into my ideas for Season 2. If people want it, sure. I will. But for now, I’ll leave it at that. This is 2200+ words, and I’m grasping at the air at this point.
If you disagree? Great! If you don’t? Great! Tell me your own thoughts / theories then!

I just realized that I forgot to mention what I meant about fully preparedness for my character polls such as Jak and Rayman. After seven fucking polls is when my dumbass realizes the flaw. Welp here's the post rectifying said mistake with everyone's favorite limbless hero, Rayman, for the example.
This loveable dorky Thingamajig right here.
Tumblr media
Now Rayman has been on a lot of adventures and every one introduced something new to his skillset. The series stapled Lums particularly ones like Red or Purple. Rayman 3 with its combat fatigues/power up transformations. Adventures granting the Incrediball companions who can help find things, gather particular stuff similar to magnets or grant powerful protection. Origins/Legends introducing various cartoony abilities from travel through paintings to running on walls. His latest appearance being a powered up Plungergun/Blaster and the Sparks.
These are some of the things that can come with Rayman for wherever he ends up. Other stuff include food provisions, water, and any essentials often taken on long journeys. Now I'll be using Transformers Prime as an example for this mainly because I want to drive these particular bots nuts but also Rayman not having a good time with sentient machines if you look at Rayman 2.
Where and when does our limbless hero pop up? How about the battle that would've been Cliffjumper's last stand i.e the first episode? Yup. Right in the thick of it as I want to paint a big fat target on Ray's back for both sides.
Before anyone fusses, this Thingamajig fought bigger and dangerous enemies but still came out on top. It isn't his first rodeo especially with killer machines. Where was I? Oh right, him dispatching Vehicons alongside Cliff.
Both are able to take down their Decepticon opponents just before Team Prime shows up. With his good deed done, Rayman decides to dip as he rather not experience any war flashbacks to the Razorbeard debacle from his second adventure. Optimus tries to convince the Thingamajig that he'll be under their protection but nope.
Rayman flees by using Ethering to turn invisible. Although he accidentally leaves one of his paintings behind in the process. The Autobots retrieve the item with hope it can lead them back to their friend's savior. It's quite clear that Rayman isn't from Earth and could be a target to the Decepticons.
A notion later proven true once Soundwave retrieves the footage from the fallen Vehicons. Upon seeing the feed, Megatron orders his Decepticons to capture Rayman should the opportunity present itself. This strange creature could prove helpful to their cause.
Now Rayman is essentially on the run from the beginning. Whenever he can, the Thingamajig would set up shelter and rest up. Most of the time Rayman camps out in the woods. There's enough natural cover and places to hide.
A task that becomes more difficult since one encounter with Soundwave left him stranded in Jasper, Nevada. Yup. He still gets entangled in both factions' conflict as the poor guy is so lost. Why is he here? Does it have something to do with these giant robots?
Both aren't good at providing info as Rayman constantly has to dodge servos(hands for Cybertronians) through almost every encounter. Except for Cliffjumper since he has an inkling the limbless hero wouldn't like that. Moreso after the incident I'll call 'Catch the Thingamajig'. One limbless hero popping up in a warzone between a four v. four battle.
Decepticons: Starscream, Soundwave, Breakdown and Knockout
Autobots: Optimus, Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Arcee
You guys ever seen an intense football 🏈 specifically on the Super Bowl level? That's how I describe this particular incident with poor Rayman being the ball. Some examples. He gets grabbed by Arcee only for Soundwave to tackle her. Bumblebee attempts capture but Rayman ducks just in time!
The Thingamajig goes to glide away only to get snatched up by Starscream. Seeker tries to flee through via groundbridge however Bulkhead knocks him off kilter! Rayman switches to the Shock Rocket to garner some distance from both factions. It buys him a few seconds only for his cover to get blown by Breakdown!
The Decepticon nabs Rayman and attempts to pass him over to Knockout but Optimus intercepts! Starscream goes for the steal however the Thingamajig has had enough. Rayman frees himself via Screech then forces everyone to scatter with Pyrogeddon.
The only thing Autobots haven't tried to reach the Thingamajig is Cliffjumper. Rayman did save the bot and no one knows how he'll react towards the kids. (We missed out on guardian Cliffjumper. Yes, Rayman marked as his ward upon capture.)
Meanwhile the Decepticons would have to be more sneaky in their approach. The Thingamajig is craftier and stronger than they thought. Maybe a certain Predacon obsessed scientist could help with the endeavor.
It's gonna take some time and well planning if anyone wants to reach Rayman. Meanwhile the Thingamajig is gonna do his best to survive this huge clusterfuck of a fiasco. Hopefully he'll be able to go home and get a much needed nap.

Detective Grub for the Rayman Villain collab :D
Well everyone else was posting their individual parts so why not join the bandwagon!
Personally I don’t see Grub as a villain in the same vein as Razorbeard or Mr Dark, or as much of a villain at all. He was given a job to round up some runaways and despite his incompetence he was doing what he thought was right in the eyes of the law. Had the show got more episodes I think we would have seen Grub easily turned from antagonist to ally once he finds out that Rayman and friends were basically escaping slavery.
I drew him looking a wee bit anxious as he was surrounded by genuine monsters and dangerous types in the collab and that would make anyone a little nervous XD. Plus in the final piece he was being yelled at by Rigatoni so that probably didn’t help his nerves!

RAYMAN FANDOM FROM THE EAST OF TUMBLR
... it is time.
Long ago, on February the 7th, 2023, the great @raygirlramblings had held a tournament for the villains of the Rayman franchise in order to postpone the titular hero's fights against them.
And now... the day has come.
Not only are we celebrating love on Valentine's Day, we will also be starting our celebration of the VICTORY of Admiral Razorbeard, antagonist of Rayman 2, via an art collab of the chaos and turmoil he himself had went through!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so, as someone who voted for Mr Dark, I say we accept our losses and work together on this set. There will be tears, there will be bloodshed, there will be... whatever other gross liquids that tend to come out of anyone's bodies... BUT! It will be done.
Here's the deal:
One slot for each villain. Each artist who volunteers to draw a villain under the "main slots" list must contribute to drawing said villain. They can also choose to draw more than one villain if they do please. Simple. As. That. There will also be an "optional slots" list below the "main slots" list, where they're not required to be included in the final product, but they ARE there as extra challenges for you guys. So go ahead! Let's do this thing!!!!!!

Rabbids Bio: Bunny Nr.#1 Sergeuï
Tumblr media
Hello guys, here I give you bio's interesting Rabbids from, well the Rabbids series as they are to me one of my favorite species in all fiction and shaped my love for bunnies!!!! Today's Bio is none other than Sergeuï, the bad guy from the first Rabbids game; "Rayman Raving Rabbids" and thus a natural fit for our Nr.#1 Bunny in that series. Without any further do, let's finish this:
"Sergueï is a softy. Out of pure coquetry [flirtatious behavior], he wears a delightful, finely worked metal muzzle. His joie de vivre and [Joy for life in French] his strong sense of repartee [quick, witty conversations, kinda like Edge's language] make him a very pleasant companion. He's always ready to keep things light and lively with little tricks, such as grinding phalanxes, switching your clavicles or even playing "this little piggy" with your toes."
-Manual, Rayman Raving Rabbids
Sergeuï , a.k.a. Grandus Lapinus (french for Big Rabbid), a.k.a. "The Butcher" is as you can see in the wanted post was a very powerful Rabbid and an elite warrior of the Rabbid forces and pretty serious. He has very large arms and uses his big hands to best his foes with ease. He is big and Scary and strong, and should not be taken lightly at all, as he is after all the one, who alongside 3 Rabbids in the intro of Rayman Raving Rabbids successfully captured Rayman and 3 Baby Globoxes during their Picknick, taken them to the Coliseum.
Tumblr media
Yep, you heard it right, Rayman, an icon of gaming who bested the likes of Mr.Dark, Admiral Razorbeard and Reflux empowered by the Leptys sceptre, was defeated by Sergeuï, a member of the elite force of the first Rabbid Invasion, this tells you how powerful and cunning he really is!!! Of course Rayman was surprised and caught off guard without his power ups, but the fact that Rayman offered their very little resistance shows that he is capable of dealing blows and pull out tricks that our Hero could not counter... It was undeniably a good idea that Cursa never got this guy's genes, then we would have even worse Spark Hunters to deal with...ugh, the idea makes me shiver to the bones already! Imagine If Bedrock had been made by using Granite and this guys's DNA? We would have probably never won, unless if in that alternative reality, Edge would have gotten Sergeuï's DNA...yeah...terrifying...big and scary...
Anyway he throws Rayman into the Coliseum's arena and Rayman has to perform certain mini tasks to get his reward: Save a Baby Globox and a Plunger as trophy. After completing the first series of minigames Sergeuï sends Rayman to his rather bleak cell via grabbing him with one hand and throwing him in there. If Rayman wants to leave, he would have to play again a series of Mini games and to do that, he would ask Sergeuï to bring him there, who is watching via the door viewer and guarding his cell. Sergeuï would grab Rayman forcefully and take him to the Coliseum for more games. This would mark their first interactions in the game and would continue up until the 7th time. There Sergeuï awaits our Boy without Limbs and greets him. When Rayman tells him to stay, he stands firm and waits for his next round in the Arena. If Rayman then would call Sergeuï, he would surprise Rayman hiding on the left side of the door and wait for Rayman to go first and escort him to the Arena. After Rayman begins to win over time the hearts of the Rabbids over and becoming even more popular, Sergeuï starts to lay down a red carpet for Rayman to enter the cell all the while assembling a chore for Rayman that sings for him and holds many gifts for their hero, the chore btw has them use plumbers as trombones. Sergeuï also is not left out of the fun and dances with a batuta he waves to celebrate Rayman, the new hero of the Rabbids.
Tumblr media
He would also over the course of the game play in some of the mini-games like "Bunnies are bad at Peek at boo", where he would play with us Peek at boo within the corridor leading to the arena, with it's entrance being guarded by none other than Sergeuï . We must run with our toes to the door, all the while Sergeuï would turn around and if we move while we are forced to stand still, he would eliminate us...if we are cunning and succeed we will go to the gate, but Sergeuï will try to catch us, only to fail.
Tumblr media
Another Mini game called Bunnies have no memory part 2 has us click on Rabbids to repeat the order by which the sounds are given to us to gain points. Sergeuï as you can see appears on the right and clicking on him emits a purple light.
Tumblr media
The last mimi game on the list where Sergeuï participates in is the game called Bunnies have natural rhythm part 2, whereby you start playing music in order to punch the Rabbids entranced by the music they are suceptile to: Green Rabbids love the music from the Green Boombok, Blue ones from the Blue Boombox and so forth with Red and Yellow. You have for this challenge 3 hearts and if you get hit by the Rabbids 3 times, game over for you. Sergeuï would in this part stop the music from playing by smashing on it with his big hands, if it's played for too long and if you get even slightly too close to him or he rans over you, you lose a heart. You cannot touch him, he is more untouchable than Reflux, who is btw a Knaaren, a race of Ogre-like people invulnerable to almost anything btw...Sergeuï is a boss! He even composed a song called "The Butcher Deejay" which would put the skills of DJ Cheep Tuna to shame and that track can be heard in the 2 parts of the dance mini game "Bunnies are raving mad" and in the Jukebox within Rayman's cell, if you like to hear it without the mini-game aspect like here:
youtube
Overall Sergeuï once hostile to Rayman, became over time a friendly person to Rayman and treats him like an honorary celebrity rather than a prisoner, suggesting a change of attitude the Rabbids have towards Rayman. From kidnapping him, into making him one of their stars through completing games for them, which shows that appearances are deceiving and that these volatile Bunnies are fun-loving and even generous to a point back before they parted ways with Rayman.
Tumblr media
This change in behavior and overall development of the Rabbids is based on the concept of Rayman 4, the original Rayman Raving Rabbids, where Rayman would have to impress the Rabbids in the Coliseum in order to liberate his people and win the bunnies over by becoming more popular than their leadership. This idea was here used as well, and it seems that Sergeuï was intended to be also one of many of these Large Rabbids, but they were scrapped and only he remained. What also is weird is that the manual described him as a softie with a lot of repartee and joie de vivre, basically being great with words and having a lot of joy, which he sort of shows over time in the final product, but is not really a typical softy. Still he is despite his initial hostility towards Rayman a good guardian and begins to care for Rayman and treating his captor with a lot of respect, something that would later be lost in the next game with the other bunnies. Below is seeing how that concept flourished at the final parts of the game.
Tumblr media
Their special bond will not last forever as Rayman, having acquired a lot of these Plungers after completing more than 10 mini-games for them, uses these well-earned trophies as letters for him to climb up to a far away window where Rayman will escape from the bunnies. He manages to do that, only to realize that he left his friends children, the baby Globoxes in the coliseum and wants to venture back via a hole the Rabbids made near the picnic place, only to get stuck and would remain there like a trapped prey for the rest of the ending, until Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 comes and Sergeuï is nowhere to be seen!!!
Tumblr media
Around the same time of RRR's release on the Wii, we got the DS version of "Rayman Raving Rabbids" as well, which is more like a traditional platformer rather than a large collection of solo mini games. is our softy Sergeuï the final boss hovering on an UFO with inflated size while Rayman would use some Rabbid tech to beat him. Sergeuï summons Rabbid allies in many vehicles to help him against Rayman and engage in an energy ball battle a la Ocarina of Time...it's difficult but not impossible and Rayman defeats him and pacifies the Rabbids...this is a weird game in the series and I think beyond being a fun trivia...I think the game would have little bearing on the series...it was very obscure after all.
Afterward we only see Sergeuï in the American cover for RRR2 near on the Edge of the Eiffel Tower right below as you can see, reminiscent of King Kong:
Tumblr media
This is the last we have seen of Sergeuï ever since. Either he took some break after his work on the Coliseum or was fired after Rayman was freed, who knows? But some of us some of us Rabbid Fans, including me, hope he will appear in one way or another in the Rayman DLC for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. He may be a boss or simply be reffrenced or like in the DS game, becomes the final boss of that game as he was the first Rabbid that attacked Rayman and his friends as well as being unique and cool enough to be in there, after all, he would have made a fine Spark Hunter!
As @bramble-scramble said in an answer regarding her views on Sergeuï, his sense of Repartee could be shown here due to us having now translated Rabbidese and would be a lot like Edge, with few, but hard-hitting words. His weapon of choice would be maybe diffrent but rigth now, it would be too exhausting in this bio to further speculate, but we can hope for more Sergeuï, we can hope!
Tumblr media
That is it and I will discuss more about him in the future, especially for my Edge fanfic in-planning and how he and Edge would make great friends and why Cursa never bothered to use this guys's DNA...he is so powerful and cute and smart and sexy and BWAMAZING!!

Rayman Retaliation behind the scenes...
Tumblr media
Cover sketch
When we weren’t playing Animal Crossing, Ikke and I had been working on a few little drawings and animations while together in the first lockdown in 2020. We were stuck in a flat together, Ikke was also in another country and I became really ill, so the story definitely had it's roots in feeling helpless and isolated. This wasn’t intended, but it’s obvious now that I’m looking back at the old notes...
(Some drawings in this post will be done by @ikkeforeal)
Please don't read ahead if you haven't read the story! (contains spoilers!)
< Start reading story here
Tumblr media
Campsite sketch.
Tumblr media
I originally wanted the first chapter's illustration to be based on this scene but it felt boring.
Rayman was originally going to be paranoid about Razorbeard getting away and having nightmares. He would come across a left over Robot Pirate head during a clean-up operation and look into the night sky, realising how little they knew about the outside world and where the Pirates even came from. This would make him feel small and helpless in protecting the Glade of Dreams.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rayman with Robot Pirate head.
This was eventually changed as it didn’t feel accurate to his character and instead became a dream that was planted in his head as a warning.
The character Morgan was originally going to be a bigger part of the story. She was someone that had been isolated from the rest of the world. A dark event happened that only she could recall, which was going to be a mysterious and all-consuming creature called The Hunger. Polokus had done a “windows reboot on the world” (as we called it) and paused time so then the mysterious creature was trapped and couldn’t continue. This was connected to him travelling to the Place where all the God’s meet to dream up a new future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Morgan design and The Hunger.
Morgan was unhappy about the idea of the people not remembering the old world and wanted a real solution to defeating The Hunger.
Rayman was interested in gaining new powers so he could become stronger and Morgan needed him to fight new guardians and gather their masks for her. So she gave him the ability to create spiral doorways and to be able to travel anywhere he needed to be.
The reader was going to be lead in believing that Morgan was going to double-cross Rayman and have him summon The Hunger into the world instead using the masks.
Tumblr media
A couple Mask designs.
When the story developed further, I realised that Morgan was going to have to be scrapped and replaced with the Muse of The Poets instead, especially so her connection to Polokus made more sense. This decision made us feel a bit sad because we really liked her as a character, so we decided to keep her as our own version of the Muse of the Poets instead.
Tumblr media
The sketch for Chapter 4's final illustration.
Getting Rayman into space was something that we were interested in as then he would be completely in unknown territory. But it was difficult to give him a reason *why* he should go into space and how. The original plan would be to have Rayman pilot an abandoned Pirate warship, but we didn’t want Rayman to be on his own. We decided it would be funny if we brought back Joe the alien from the first game, but also because then we could have a character that would be familiar with navigating space.
Tumblr media
Joe the alien re-design. Wanted to give him a more "Rayman 2" look.
In 2021 I ended up deciding to take over the story just on my own since our living situation changed and our lives became busy again, but Ikke was still a big help.
I was stuck with what The Hunger was supposed to be. It didn’t make sense to have a character that had no motivation. If this story was going to be based around the events of Rayman 2, I realised that it could have a connection to the Robot Pirates in some way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Robot Pirate "Spirit" sketches.
I then had the idea that it could be the Robot Pirate God that was out for revenge on Polokus for wiping out the Pirates. I really liked this idea and ended up having to rewrite the whole story! (I think it worked out in the end though!)

The Robot Pirate Planet doodles and chapter 3's final illustration sketch.
I could go on and on about every thought I had trying to piece the story together so it made sense but then we’d be here all day. I’m thankful for my friends who encouraged me to keep going.
I decided since the Robot Pirates were going to have a spirit, then that meant they needed their version of Jano. This made for a great idea for the twist in the story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robot God design and chapter 6's final illustration sketches.
Ultimately, I really wanted the story to be enjoyed by fans and also able to be read by anyone. I asked my flatmate who isn’t a Rayman fan to proof-read for me and her being able to understand what was going on gave me a lot of confidence for the story.

Murphy was originally going to be the narrator for the story. I really liked the idea of him being able to break the fourth wall and interact with the comic panels but I had to scrap him when it became a short story instead.

Dang only allowed 30 images per post? Well then. Guess that's all you're getting!!!! :')
Thanks for reading! I'm (probably) never writing a fanfic again, my fingers have crumbled into dust.

Rayman Head Canons: Canon Character voice claims part 3:
Welcome back to another episode of Rayman head canons, Canon character voice claims PART 3
Ly the fairy:
Ly was another that had what I thought was different voice acting between the Great Escape and Revolution. The voice I have for Ly is the revolution one, echo effect and all.
youtube
-----------------------------------------------
Grand Minimus/Most Male Teensies:
The actual Grand Minimus. As in the real king of the teensies.
I had to do…a lot of deep research for this one here and I am still not sure if i have the actual guy here correct. As there was actually a number of uncredited roles when i was looking for this one. This one was one of the uncredited voices here according to my research.
According to what i found while I was doing my deep research, the uncredited voice for ALL the teensies in this game and tend to be the versions I use voice wise for most of the males, including the one I specifically picked for Grand Minimus here in the projects, they were supposedly all done by Matt Hill.
-I cover Matt Hill more in depth in a Behind the Voice Actors post-
There were a LOT of teensies within Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc. Many of them with different versions of voice takes and overall accents. They all sound quite a bit similar to each other minus the teensie doctors, which for the record, I can’t find any names to credit for those three bozos and they DID have places within Rayman Retold.
The Matt Hill teensie voice you hear Minimus use is this specific one from the end of Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc’s intro level:
youtube
-----------------------------------------------
King Gumsi:
The child brat -i mean- king of the knaaren people! I wanted to use the one and only from Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc since THAT is the Gumsi we know about and I still use.
Guys, I looked everywhere for this. I looked all over the internet for this. I searched imdb, I searched the behind the voice actor site, and I of course scoured the Raywiki’s. I SEARCHED EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET AND GOT THE SAME RESULT!
You know how I mentioned in the Grand Minimus section that there were A LOT of uncredited roles or simply “Additional” voice roles?
well…uh…
Tumblr media
UH…
Yeah, I have to use a voice clip sample here. Guys? If you watch my voice head canon/Voice Claim posts and you can provide me with some sources that prove this was a voice actor for some of these. PLEASE HIT ME UP, I BEG YOU!
Allow me to use my favorite clip as a voice reference:
-----------------------------------------------
Razorwife:
Tumblr media
This includes an image reference because Razorwife is a bit on the obscure side of Rayman game characters, since she only had one appearance. Well if we wanna get technical: it was three, but these were all various console/region versions of the SAME game. Rayman M/Rayman Arena/Rayman Rush. Razorwife is the wife of the infamous Admiral Razorbeard and she appeared with him in these games not only as your opponent, but as an unlockable playable character in these games depending on the version you had.
Razorwife did appear within Rayman Retold. She was going to be an important character within the plot lines that include her husband, Razorbeard.
There’s another reason I included a image of the character here. I have a feeling most of you know EXACTLY where I’m going with this one with the voice claim
…Julie Kavner. if you don't know who Julie Kavner is, you probably do know the character she voiced:

Any headcanons regarding either; Barbara, Elysia, Hellen/Hadésia or dragons?
I have posted some headcanons regarding to Barbara and Elysia before, but now that you mention it I'm gonna talk about this hella weird idea I had in wich Grögh the Hellish might be their father.
Who this guy is, you may ask? This fella below:
Tumblr media
Okay so basically this guy is the main antagonist of the game "Tonic Trouble", that game made for testing the graphics that were going to be used in Rayman 2.
I don't know if I ever mentioned this but I think that Rayman and Tonic Trouble are connected somehow, at least in my AU. Since a character called The General appears talking to Razorbeard in Rayman 2. But I don't think that the Glade of the Dreams might be the same planet in wich the events of Tonic Trouble take place.
Now, the connection between Grögh, Barbara and Elysia might be that they are long relatives, or father and daughters. Maybe after being defeated, Grögh redeems himself and afterwards forms a family or something like that. Still I have to think more about this.
And regarding to Hellen...
She might hang out with Sibylla, both being in the Underworld, or with Selena or Estelia, since their favourite celebrations (Halloween and El Día de los Muertos) are somehow similar.
She looks very threathening and many people is afraid of her, but she's actually really nice!
Hellen is kinda impulsive, like Barbara, but she's always looking for some fun. Also very loud and laughs maniacly a lot.
She can use fire magic!
She secretly loves eating candy.
Other than that, I don't have headcanons for dragons :"D sorry

claraknight replied to your post “After a long-long while I finally have a little bit of time to write...”
If you're up for some villain-side writting, how about Razorbeard and doubt? (avoiding the classic anger because he's literally like this h24) Thank you in advance if you do!
(I don’t think I’ve ever tried Razorface before, so here goes nothing!)
Three masks and counting.
The angry slam of his fist splintered the armrest even more. The messenger was long out of sight, leaving him alone with his anger and a creeping feeling that left every 0 and 1 in his system at edge.
He turned around, glaring out the Buccaneer's window. Far below him lay the lands his loyal Pirates were so busy exploiting for their abundant resources. Up until now, everything had gone swimmingly. Their source of energy was destroying, leaving the inhabitants scrambling and weakened. Their so-called hero had been captured. Pockets of whatever fledgling resistance remained were being routed out one by one.
And then everything began to spiral out of control. All it took was a single prison break, after which not only did that infernal limbless manage to repeatedly ravage his supply lines, but also made strides in awakening whatever force was rumored to protect this planet. Razorbeard had heard tales of this being and while they were sounded like folk tales at best, this wasn't the first planet he'd encountered with mystical qualities. Those were powers even he didn't enjoy trifling with.
The pirate flicked his hand, a screen emerging from the walls to his command. He cycled through the latest report, going through page after page of decommissioned and destroyed pirates. Some that have served him from decades and through assault where even he was convinced none of them would leave un-scrapped. And yet, one by one, they were taken out by that damn, nosey runt. It was maddening, but even more so than that, concerning. The losses were climbing. The supplies were dwindling. The prisoners were growing unruly.
Of course, there was always the possibility of pulling out. Tens of thousands of slaves, a veritable hoard of artefacts, a cargo hold full of precious materials the locals either didn't use or had no idea on how to use. Even with the losses, it would have been a net positive overall. They could fill the ranks at the nearest port. All he needed to do was give the order.
He reached the end of the reports and allowed the panel to fold back into the wall. He would have just needed to give the order. But it was an order he knew he would never live down. All the prisoners and all of the riches wouldn't have made up for the crew he had lost already. He could feel a sense of foreboding in his circuits, but it did not deter him. He could not turn back, not so far into the skirmish.
At this point, it was a matter of principle.
