Things I Want To See On The Next Season (for no other reason than I think it’d be funny)

-Eddie gets cursed. This bit goes on for the better part of the season. It all adds up and he starts to believe it. This is all culminated in a grand finale where he gives up and asks Chimney and Hen how to get rid of a curse, it’s then revealed that they were behind it the entire time.

-An episode where they get no calls. Just pure boredom. I wanna see them stew. Whatever happens happens.

-Ravi Begins, but the real life story is Ravi trapped in an elevator with Buck. I just think it would be funny. Hen or Eddie would also be good companions.

-Eddie gets hit by a semi (he’s fine it’s just for the curse bit and the truck is going like 2 miles an hour)

-Chimney can’t decide who’s his best man. Albert, Buck, Eddie and Bobby are all vying for the position by sucking up as hard as possible

-Jee and Chris become besties

-Natalia hates the couch they picked out. She wants a bean bag chair. For some reason it’s a huge deal to them. Buck brings this up to the team, they all think he’s insane for caring so much about a bean bag chair.

-The 118 has a fan who shows up on every scene, watches the news religiously, listens to the scanner all the time, and writes them fan mail. This amounts to nothing, but Buck thinks it’s the coolest thing ever (“I can’t believe I have a stalker!”).

-Buck and Eddie share a bed, platonically. This is outright stated in the show. They are both in separate committed relationships.

-We finally get to see the bunk room but only because they all have to sleep off the high from a angry former patient who brought in drugged cookies. How do they wake up? Do we get a scene similar to the office when that guy brings in those drugged cupcakes as a form of revenge? I Need the fallout desperately, not a cut scene to them all sober. Dosed is one of my faves since it’s just too funny.

Said party the group was currently getting ready for, Pip and Ravi in their Bonnie and Clyde couples costume, Pip's hands still partially stained from helping Josh with his Batman costume before they left. Connor and Jamie both dressed up as characters from their favorite childhood show, Zack and Lauren in a disgustingly lovey dovey couples costume, they couldn't decide between an angel and devil or Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, settling on a mix between the two. And finally Cara, in her incredibly detailed Robin Buckley costume from her and Pip's Stranger things watch nights.

All getting ready to meet the others at the white house, of all places, Pip still wondered how they'd even managed to get in but thankful that they did, they needed to, to find Chucky and Grant.

Stanley and (Y/n) were at their shared home also getting ready. Stanley normally wouldn't give Halloween too much attention, except it was (Y/n)'s favorite holiday. They both decided to at least dress up, both head to toe in black outfits with matching black eye makeup, nothing specific, just... spooky. The pair not wanting to go all out after the year they'd had, nothing too big, but still dressed up.

(Y/n) was sitting on Stanley's lap, facing him and helping him with his eye makeup, intermittently having to touch up certain spots from the smudges caused by your periodic make out sessions, unfortunately because of the situation you guys were dealing with you didn't have time for anything more. You couldn't help yourselves though, seeing eachother all dressed up. "What time does this thing start?" Stanley said, not even knowing himself if he meant the party or the plan.

"8:45" she smiled, causing Stanley to throw his head back, partially in annoyance at their time constraints and partially in adoration of her smile. "Hey I need to finish." She said, tilting his head back up, rolling her eyes. "But we have all night when we get back... if we don't die." And Stanley nearly choked on nothing. "Except for the trick or treaters." He countered, even though he was more than ready to see her being so sweet with all the children. No matter how fucked his past was she always found a way to make any part of it seem beautiful.

(Y/n) finished up Stanley's makeup, stepping away from him to put everything away as Stanley watched her closely from his seat, her other costume packed and ready.

8:35 pm, the group arrives at the white house, Halloween costumes and all, as if this year wasn't already scary enough. As they stepped out of the car it was like the coffee shop on steroids, security guards practically every few feet, large groups of people in costumes just, enjoying the holiday. They stood at the bottom of the grand steps staring up at the building. Jake in a cowboy Chucky costume, Devon in a construction Chucky costume, and finally (Y/n) in a girl Chucky costume, each fit with their own "accessories" in preparation for entering.

"Thoughts and prayers?" (Y/n) said looking toward Connor nervously who laughed uncomfortably in reply. Devon spoke next as they made their way up the steps. "I don't believe in prayer, not anymore, but I do believe in us." Jake nodding between the two. "Me too." Devon stopped as they were about to reach the entrance. "Let's do this for them." He said, referencing all the people Chucky had taken from them, aswell as the victim in Pip's case.

"And they'd want us to go fuck that fucker up."

As they entered they were met with more security, slapping bracelets on their wrists to mark their entry. "Next." (Y/n) walked through the the scanner first, immediately setting it off as she looked back towards the others nervously. The security guard waved the metal detecter wand over her partially exposed body, stopping at her head, the man mumbling under his breath and ripping the hair clip from her head causing her long red hair to fall down her shoulders. "What? Hey!"

"Next."

Jake walked through next, also setting off the alarm. "Whoa, easy cowboy. I'm gonna have to take that." The man said gesturing to Jake's lasso. "Seriously?" The man scoffed in clear annoyance, giving a sarcastic smile before replying coldly "Yeah."

"Next."

Devon walked through after, setting off the alarm, again. The man waved the metal detecter over Devon before patting him on the back, smiling.

"Have fun."

The rest of the group quickly following through, one by one, as (Y/n) and Jake rolled their eyes. "Fuck, there goes that. And my costumes ruined." (Y/n) said as Stanley jogged up to catch up to her. "You always look hot." Cara laughed, causing (Y/n) to shrug in agreement. "I still have my phone, so as long as we get Chucky on camera doing his thing, we can get it out there. We can tell Grant and the president, and Pip will have time to talk to Grant. We got this"

"Do we?!" (Y/n) asked, turning around to face the others. "Are people even gonna believe us? It's called a deep fake they'll just think it's special effects." Jake sighed in reply.

"Do you have a better idea?"

"No."

(Y/n) shook her head while the rest of the group listened. "We still have to subdue him somehow, he's won't talk just cause we say please, that might work on Grant, not Chucky." Pip crossed her frustrated with the holes in their plan. "We just have to work with whatever we find in here." Jake looked between the two girls before stepping past them. "We sure as hell aren't gonna find anything we can use on Chucky here." The group walking synchronized again. "We need to get upstairs to the residence." Devon said causing the others to look towards (Y/n), especially Stanley.

"Leave that to me."

They walked through another very tall, very wide entrance into another room, this room even more packed with people dressed in costumes. Before they could take three steps into the room someone dressed as a clown jumped infront of the group, yelling inches from their face. "I hate Halloween."

Stanley knew that was a lie, probably the biggest lie she's ever told, and she's had to lie to him about Chucky. Halloween was always her favorite holiday, even after everything that happened on both sides for them. After what happened to Stanley she had even asked him if he'd be more comfortable if they didn't celebrate it anymore, he of course denied her offer, but thought she was the sweetest for even asking.

Past the decently sized fake cemetery archway was where most of the people were, dancing, drinking, laughing. The group walked past a mime doing a high kick, Frankenstein's monster, and about a dozen witches, all the masks around making Ravi feel uneasy. They stared at their surroundings in awe, looking at all the lights, the people, and the giant swirling hypnosis type screen behind the dj, before the group heard (Y/n) let out a shriek. "Boo!" "Oh, shit!" They turned to see Grant with his arms wrapped around her from behind, Stanley having to resist the urge to rip him off of her.

"Hey, (Y/n). It's so good to see you." Grant said pulling her into a hug. "Happy Halloween!" She smiled at him, nervously looking towards Stanley. "Oh, you look amazing." Shit. Now she was even more anxious about Stanley. "T-thanks. You too." Grant looked nervous too, about half as nervous as she was, but still nervous. "Oh, um, I want you to meet my parents. They're over here." "Oh, cool. yeah." Grant lead her towards them, the rest of the group following closely behind.

"Mom, dad. Hey, excuse me, sorry." Grant said nudging some important looking people away from his parents. "This is (Y/n), um, and Jake and Devon, and... everybody else." He laughed awkwardly. "Hello. James Collins." Grant's dad shoot (Y/n)'s hand. "Hi. Nice to meet you." The rest of their introductions following.

Stanley knew it was stupid, knew it wasn't that big of a deal but he couldn't help it, couldn't help feeling that deep pit in his stomach, a mix of sadness and embarrassment at the fact that he couldn't bring (Y/n) to meet his parents. That was what normal couples did, he'd met hers, but she could never meet his.

"I just love your outfits." Grant's mother smiled at them. "Our son Henry loves Good Guys too. And Stranger Things." She said gesturing towards Cara who did a little bow. The Chucky look alikes thanking her. "Mine's the best though, right?" Devon said, doing a little twirl, Grant's mother laughing. "It's very impressive." "I know a guy." Devon said, leaning closer to Jake who tilted his head with a smile. "I take it you're the guy?" "Yeah. Jake" Jake replied with a smile, everyone smiling with what seemed to be genuin smiles for once, letting their guards down for a second and just enjoying themselves, even if the topic still revolved around Chucky.

"(Y/n), I admit I haven't heard much because our son is pretty tight-lipped, at least with his family." His mother said looking over (Y/n)'s features as Grant rolled his eyes embarrassed. "But what I have heard is great." The conversation faded away as Grant's father seemed to be distracted by something, or someone.

"Hey, Grant, where is your brother?" (Y/n) said as the group followed Grant. "Henry? Uh, he's upstairs. He's having some kind of, like, mental breakdown or something." Grant said shaking his head and shrugging. "Oh, is there any way that we could see the residence?" She asked, immediately seeing Grant tense up. "Oh, um, that's kind of, like, a whole other thing. I mean, you thought the invite protocol was hard."

"I mean," (Y/n) stepped closer towards him. "I'd love to see your room." Grant, aswell as the rest of the group froze, Stanley gritting his teeth. "Yeah, for sure, follow me."

This was gonna be a long night.

Ok I haven't watched EE in a long time, all I know is it's time for the Six storyline.

I don't know much and was wondering if someone could provide answers.

So apparently the six dead men possibilities are Jack, Nish, Dean, Phil, Keanu, Ravi, and Rocky.

Jack: I have no idea why he could be the body, only that I have always found him annoying and patronizing. Apparently, Denise and Jack's marriage is on the rocks.

Nish: He's clearly a bad man who's not happy about Suki and Eve being in a relationship. Didn't he order Ravi to kill Eve?

Dean: Well he's an obvious reason, he's a long-term villain in the square.

Phil: Another obvious reason, he's Phil Mitchell after all and Phil would need a grand send-off with a shocking storyline. But Phil Mitchell is EastEnders.

Keanu: Apparently Keanu was naughty when it came to Albie, don't know more than that. But also I find him stupid and annoying, so don't care if it's him.

Ravi: Is another bad man, who murdered his "father" and let Suki think she was guilty and then let his brother take the blame. He also deals in drugs I think.

Rocky: I know the actor is leaving, he's a gambler and I think he's messed up with Kathy too many times to make it right. Though I hope it's not him because that's a bit disappointing if it's him since he announced he was leaving months back.

Aastha Vidya Mandir English Medium School organised a 3 days Annual Sports Meet for the year 2023-24 based on the guidelines by the Central Board of Secondary Education at Education City Jawanga, Geedam of Dantewada district. It is important for every child to have passion for sports and art along with education.

Various sports competitions were organized for students from class 1st to class 12th in boys and girls categories. 1200 children from 8 houses i.e. Arpa, Pairi, Shankhani, Dankani, Shivnath, Shabari, Mahanadi and Indravati Houses participated actively in different games like 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 meter race, relay race, three legged race, long jump, high jump, shotput throw, discuss throw, volleyball, kho kho, kabaddi.

In the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of School Management Committee Bomada Ram Kowasi and Principal Gopal Pandey unveiled the torch and green flag.

In the closing ceremony, Chief guest Dantewada MLA Chaitram Atami, guest of honour District Panchayat member Ramu Netam, Sangeeta Netam, Geedam Janpad Panchayat President Anti Wek, Janpad Panchayat member Rajesh Kashyap, Jawanga Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Aarti Kovasi, School Management Committee President Bomda Ram Kowasi, social worker Dr. Budhri Tati, District Mission Coordinator Shyamlal Shori, APCs Sikendar Khan, Rajendra Pendes, ABEO Bhavani Punem, Cluster Coordinator Nitin Vishwakarma were present.

Republic Day 2023: Where To Book Tickets & Watch Parade

One of the most glorious days of the year is here again, Republic Day. Celebrated every year on January 26 in India, it is a day allocated to celebrate the  Constitution of India when it came into effect, in the year 1950, and the country became a republic.

It is a day when every community belonging to a different location, culture, tradition, and religion comes together to celebrate this day. This year, India will be celebrating its 74th Republic Day.

WHY IS IT CELEBRATED?

At the time when it gained its independence from the British Raj following the Indian Independence movement, it didn’t have a constitution of its own. All the laws of India were based on a gentrified version of the British-established, Government of India Act 1935.

After two weeks, a Drafting Committee was organized for drafting a permanent Indian Constitution. With Dr B R Ambedkar as its Chairman, the Constitution was adopted much later on November 26, 1949. But it came into force on January 26, 1950. Thus, this is the day chosen by Indians for themselves for it held immense significance for the country.

THE PROMINENCE OF DECEMBER 31, 1929 

Other factors make for the history of India. On December 31, 1929, the Indian National Congress made the well-known declaration of “Poorna Swaraj” or complete self-rule. The day marked importance as Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the tricolour on the banks of the Ravi river. For the next 17 years, the date January 26, 1930, was set for independence and was celebrated as Poorna Swaraj day.

As this day holds great significance it is celebrated all across India with lots of patriotism and fervour. In the capital of the country, Delhi at Rajpath, magnificent parades by regiments of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, police, and paramilitary forces are performed. REPUBLIC DAY PARADE HIGHLIGHTS

The parade begins with the arrival of the President. Firstly, the bodyguards of the President salute the National Flag, and as they do so the National Anthem is played along with 21 Guns Salute.

The parade may be a one-day program but the efforts behind it are something to be looked at.  The practice for the parade starts a year before in July and for this, the participants of the parade have to get ready by 2 AM and have to arrive at the Rajpath by 3 AM. The practice goes on till August, at their related regiment centres. They finally reach Delhi by December. The practice hour of the participants is reportedly 600 hours before they perform on the 26th of January.

For all the vehicles needed for the parade like Tanks, Armored Vehicles, and many more, a special camp near the premises of the India Gate is organized. The investigation for each Cannon and the work of whitewash goes through a 10-stage long process.

The highlight of the day takes place when The Prime Minister of India honours the martyrs by putting a ringlet at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate followed by a salute done by 21-guns national flag hoisting, and national anthem.

Awards are given in the form of Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, and Vir Chakra. It is also honoured to children and general citizens who have displayed courage when the situation demanded and the award winners then salute the President in military jeeps. 

The program then comes to the turn of India’s display of its military power. March-past performed by the armed forces, police, and National Cadet Corps salute the President of India. The parade finally comes to an end with the most captivating part of the day. The Indian Air Force fighter jets fly past Janpath. This is how, Delhi being the capital of India, witnesses the largest public Day celebrations.

Ravi Walia was a tech specialist at the JGP this week- how does it work for an active coach to also be a tech caller? Is it ok to be a tech specialist but not a judge? And I’ve always wondered, I read that ISU judges get expenses but aren’t paid- is that true? So these are people rich enough that they don’t have to work that much and have time to fly around the world for no pay?

Basically, as long as the coach who is performing the duties of a technical specialist has not coached any of the competitors within a time frame, they are permitted to be an official. Figure skating is a small world and it can get a little messy, but there isn’t a lot of options otherwise - many officals/coaches have their own background in skating and it would be hard to fond anyone to do the job without some past contamination.

As for money, yes judges and tech folks get paid - it’s not a lot in the grand scheme, but most of them aren’t in the job to get rich. And then their travel/accommodations/meals are covered as well, at least at an elite level (I’m not going to start researching a National or Regional level).

Buck’s Slippery Sense of Self

This is a bit scattered but bear with me. Ravi’s comment to buck that he likes being himself has been bouncing around in my skull. Buck absolutely struggles in a big way with being himself. He’s painful self-worth issues in a trenchcoat of swag, charm, and smiles carefully constructed to keep people in his life, but he struggles to be fully and deeply honest about the shattered pieces of himself that he’s still trying to find, pick up, and put together. He’s grown a lot, become more honest and open with select folks but there are still walls to break down for sure.

Think about buck begins. He plasters on a thick heavy smile while telling his firefam that he’s defective parts. In 505 he gives taylor a halfhearted smile at the end when he thanks her. In that same ep he tucks himself into the side of the firetruck, alone, as he listens to yet another voicemail greeting from beloved family that won’t answer the phone. His face drops when he hears chim’s “greeting” then he shouts for ravi so that he can tenaciously train him and strengthen the firefam in the process. When he’s finally ready to deal with his pain over chim and maddie leaving, it’s just to say that “for the good of everyone” he plans to transfer. He legit thought they would just let him go and not miss him. He totally thought he broke one family and would break this one too. Buck honestly thought leaving was a noble sacrifice. He would excise himself so that the team could carry on free of his gross and obviously flaws. Buck nooooooo!!! The firefam loves you, even in your darkest hour. They see your flaws, and that does NOT negate your beauty and worth as a whole person in their family. “You’re stuck with us”

Buck thinks there’s value in parts of him - his skills, his strong body, his blood and sweat - but not in him as a whole person, not as a complete self. Flaws and all. He thinks people tolerate or ignore his flaws rather than actually 100% accept them.

I think ravi blew his frickin’ mind when he said he likes being himself. I think buck likes what he does and how he can serve people but I’m not convinced he likes himSELF. Honestly I think he’s struggling with what that even means AND whether or not he even matters in the grand scheme of things.

I think that’s the struggle that’s being explored with maddie and chim’s absence as the catalyst, and his attempt to replace himself with ravi on the team. Eddie’s chuckle at dinner when ravi asked if he was in buck’s seat struck me on a deeper level as being eddie almost saying “as if you could take his seat at this table!”. Then of course buck says that’s exactly his plan and eddie balks at that…HARD. But to buck it seemed like the most logical and reasonable thing in the world.

Even after everything they’ve all been through together, he doesn’t see himself as a worthy, valued, and loved enough for people to fight to keep him in their lives. Buck sees others’ worth so clearly but can’t quite afford himself the same grace. He gave ravi a hard time but if he didn’t think he was worthy he wouldn’t have invested the energy.

It makes me wanna cry so hard. I hate that buck sees himself in parts rather than as an amazing whole. As tiny shards of limited value rather than a whole of great worth. His pain this season is destroying me. The firefam helps bandage buck’s emotional wounds but I really think therapy and eddie are gonna be the rescue, the healing that he needs to find wholeness and self-worth.

It wasn’t an accident that ravi told buck he respects him but likes being himself. Buck getting to that same place is gonna be a thing this season. His relationship with taylor is playing into things too because she also only sees buck in pieces and parts. She sees ego and charm. She has no idea that all of that is a mask, it’s armor and it’s cracking.

I really think that using buck’s actual name, evan, at key points is a choice and it’s brilliant. I always felt that buck, like the firefighter uniform itself, was a kind of armor helping to protect and hold together evan. Evan has been hurt so badly in so many ways, but buck’s a “badass under pressure”, and spoiler alert: he’s always feeling pressure, always convinced that his life and himself are fragile and hanging by a thread, always afraid that people will finally figure out that he’s worthless. *crying now, give me sec* Maddie calls him evan at points, always in emotional scenes when she wants to reach and heal him. Eddie called him evan in the same way when he told him about the will. But. When taylor says evan, it feels wrong. It feels like she doesn’t know evan at all so her using his name feels off.

We are gonna see more evan this season i think, the vulnerable bits brought to the surface by all the crazy crap this weewoo show has thrown and will throw at him, and I’m hoping for more healing. Buck deserves no less than real healing.

300 followers special: debunking Arahabaki

Arahabaki is a mythical figure with a relatively large popculture footprint, mostly thanks to Shin Megami Tensei, but little to no source material to go with it. For this reason, especially in english-speaking spheres, many claims rooted in pseudohistory and hoaxes, such as the image above, circulate uninterrupted. Under the cut, I will attempt to debunk their source. If stories about dogu, piss bottles and improbable journeys to Ecuador interest you, you found the right place.

The claims of Arahabaki's antiquity and in particular associating this obscure deity with dogu – specifically the shakoki dogu -  all go back to Tsugaru Soto Sangunshi (I will refer to it as TSS in the rest of this article) and other associated writings, so called ”Wada family documents,” all of them written by a certain Kihachiro Wada. It's a series of forgeries created in the 1970s (with additional works produced through the rest of Wada's life – he passed away in 1999), which in addition to presenting a fictional history of the Tohoku region, centered around a fictional local kingdom, also mention Mayan prophecies, Nostradamus, Mu, and various scientific concepts, usually misunderstood by the author. To my knowledge, TSS is only covered in one english language source, which is horrid and basically unusable - The Sacred Science of Ancient Japan: Lost Chronicles of the Age of the Gods by Avery Morrow, which does present the truth - eg. that it's a forgery - but then the author gets caught up in some sort of Evola-influenced spiritual doctrine which makes him claim that perhaps it's an echo of some "spiritual truth" or something along these lines, which is obviously not a sound argument from the perspective of anyone with even just a passing interest in history. Social sciences are still sciences, not religions. TSS claims shakoki dogu represent an “outlawed” god formerly worshiped by people inhabiting Tohoku, whose name was also their endonym. It doesn't delve deeper into the history of Jomon art, and doesn't acknowledge dogu other than shakoki – considering not all dogu found in the Tohoku region (or even further north) belong to this category, it potentially makes it possible Wada was simply familiar with von Daniken’s confabulations and had no other exposure to jomon art; I have not seen this possibility in any japanese debunking articles, though. It's additionally worth noting here that while the exact purpose of dogu remains unknown up to this day, they're neither a taboo (indeed, many towns use peculiar locally excavated dogu as mascots nowadays, like Ravi from Minami Alps), nor particularly rare – estimatesof the number known today vary between 15000 (National Museum of Japanese History estimate) - 18000 (estimate from this article). The majority are of course not shakoki dogu; the difference between various estimates likely comes from different approach to counting figures only known from fragments.

Wada claimed that he merely discovered TSS, rather than wrote it – according to his account, a case of old documents fell from the ceiling while his  house was being renovated in 1948. Supposedly, the discovery – so called “Kansei original” - was compiled between 1789 to 1822, and then copied between 1870 and 1910. Wada later claimed he lost the original, but based on gathered evidence it seems obvious it never existed. Various pages known to researchers, purported to come from the original, the Taisho copy, and writing Wada confirmed to be his own, are written in the same style, and with the same mistakes. Additionally, as a visit made in the house by a debunker at the request of Wada's cousin, who appears to be its owner currently, confirmed it's virtually impossible that a large number of documents could have been stored above the ceiling; it has also been called into question if the house existed before 1950. What the visit did reveal was a large number of plastic bottles containing human urine, left undistrubed since the 1990s. A relatively unsophisticated way to make paper appear older than it is requires soaking it in urine, and this rather offputting find has proven that this was Wada's preferred method of making his writing appear older than it is to onlookers, especially these lacking formal experience with antiquities.

Truth to be told, even without the grand urine discovery, TSS was not difficult to discard as a forgery. As I mentioned above, its particular weakness are bizarre references to scientific concepts and discoveries, revealing a low level of historical awareness of the author – for example, references are made to quasars, continental drift theory and Pluto – discoveries not yet made in the suggested eras; to make it more embarrassing, TSS claims it was based on foreign sources which weren't yet published at the listed dates. It also references natural disasters which never happened, and urban legends and folklore which only developed recently, like the claims about Jesus' grave being located in Aomori prefecture, which only date back to the 1930s (Wada's documents claimed it was a story already known in the Kansei period, in the 1790s...). On top of all of this, a number of purported authentic illustrations were simply traced from contemporary sources:

It's worth noting that TSS wasn't the only fraud Wada was involved in, as we can learn from his wikipedia biography he fraudulently claimed to be a former Imperial Palace escort officer before embarking on his adventure with crafting false chronicles soaked in urine. Tragically, TSS found supporters not only among the expected crowd of various wannabe occultists, frauds and naive teenagers, but also among a number of genuine historians, most notably Takehiko Furuta. It would appear that he became interested in it in hopes of finding support for his theories about Japan originally having more than one ruling family, but with time he fully embraced it, and actively advocated the bizarre visions it contained. A particularly outlandish claim of his was insisting that Meiji era educator and political activist Fukuzawa Yukichi quoted TSS in his work (the quote in mention appears to be a paraphrase from american declaration of independence). It's worth noting that while Furuta seemingly was a genuinely accomplished scholar of Shinran doctrine, supporting TSS was far from his only adventure with pseudohistory. He was also a staunch believer in the long discredited claims about links between japanese Jomon culture and the Valvidia culture of Ecuador, claiming that various references to fantastical lands lying between China and Japan or beyond Japan prove that the Japanese reached America in ancient times (you can torment yourself with one of such articles here). This theory was briefly advocated by a number of American scholars before him, but obviously has no support today. It's nothing but a new take on XVIIIth century French claims about present day British Columbia being the Fusang described in some Chinese texts. Sometimes strange lands and creatures at the edge of the map are nothing more but fantasy. Furuta's particularly shameful contribution to TSS discourse was declaring that undermining its authenticity is rooted in historical prejudice against the inhabitants of Tohoku and Hokkaido. Personally I'm under the impression that discarding an entire region's real, very complex history in favor of fanciful hoaxes is much more likely to be rooted in such prejudice. The claim Arahabaki was an Ainu kamuy, common online, appears to come from a similar place – I will not examine it here, but I find attempts to shield forgeries from criticism by attaching them to poorly documented and historically suppressed beliefs of historically persecuted groups to be even more disgusting than regular fraud of this sort.   What Arahabaki actually is? This is difficult for me to tell for sure, but certainly nothing out of ordinary - not a dogu, and not the main figure of some lost fabulous country. There is a number of mundane temples enshrining Arahabaki, for example here. This article also mentions a number of mundane locations enshrining Arahabaki today; curiously, many of them are located outside Tohoku. A number of theories exist, linking Arahabaki to the usual suspects: religious beliefs of the Emishi people, who originally inhabited Tohoku, and may or may not be one and the same as ancestors of present day Ainu; snake worship; ironworking traditions; marebito beliefs; gods enshrined in freshly established fortresses... Whatever the truth is, it will inevitably turn out to be more interesting than hoaxes, as study of history generally proves.
