House Blackwood
-Words Unknown-
Sigil: Dead Weirwood surrounded by Ravens
Colors: Red/Black
Seat: Raventree Hall
"There is Blackwood blood in every Bracken"
House Blackwood is one of the few houses in the South that still worship the Old Gods. Ancient traditions tell that it once was part of the North. House Blackwood claims their lands were taken by House Bracken, igniting an eternal feud between the two houses.

Background on the House Blackwood.
Among many other things, we learn why they worship the Old Gods of the Forest despite living in the Riverlands.

i mentioned this before but i& actually think alysanne would've been aware of the song of ice & fire prophecy that aegon the conqueror dreamed of before conquering westeros bc she & jaehaerys were essentially co-rulers of westeros so i& think they would've told baelon as he told viserys, i& think that alysanne would've wanted to tell rhaenys but whether she does or not i'm& not entirely sure, but i& definitely think she would've told vaegon who, while not the heir, would've become an archmaester & the first targaryen to join the citadel, especially bc i& think that whatever the fuck happened at the wall years ago in the north would've deeply concerned her & that would've brought back memories of that prophecy & considering vaegon had a chain in the arcane arts iirc, i& think alysanne could've told him to look further into prophecy & other magic to see what he could find. bc here's the thing. alysanne is. weirdly interested in the wall & the north & the old gods. like. more than you would normally for a queen who's not even from the north, she's a targaryen & velaryon after all. & i personally don't think that it's Just her trying to be friendly with the north & the night's watch for political reasons, although that's definitely a huge part of it, but also to investigate what she could find & i think grrm may have been hinting at this w/ us. like. she really likes the north & visits the night's watch & sees the nightfort & the wall & she has a fascination with the old gods & their worshippers. i& genuinely think alysanne may have been up to something up there in the north & at the wall that's more than just wanderlust, curiosity & political intrigue & silverwing utterly Refused to go beyond the wall Three Times even despite the fact that silverwing Never disobeyed her & i think that confirmed the prophecy of the song of ice and fire that aegon dreamed. alysanne's an incredibly intelligent woman & she may have been trying to get intel. like. why else would grrm spend so much time about alysanne's time in the north & then at the wall if it didn't amount to anything at all in the end.

plot development: many tears are shed this day ; the death of merindah blackwood.
setting: king's landing, just before the departure of the kingdom of the riverlands.
summary:
the youngest daughter of house blackwood often yearned to connect more with her late mother, a courtesan from lys. some months before the riverlands departure to the reach, merindah blackwood reconnected with her family in the east, finding various connections with others through means of writing. her innocence would prove fatal, for the more ink met parchment, the more critical information she divulged, detailing many things in regards to the trident, and offering a timeline of when much of the riverlands would be gone. this opened up a window for lys to burn the trident.
upon discovering her mistake, merindah threatened to expose lys' involvement in the matter, to whatever extent she could that would exonerate her enough for forgiveness. before false information could slip from her lips, they parted with a fleeting breath as she fell to the floor - poisoned by the order of merei rogare, who refused to have blame for her uncle's actions fall over their house as a whole. the lady of house rogare quietly sails back to lys, where she chooses to remain.
ooc note: merindah's involvement in the burning of the trident is currently unknown, though rhys arryn has been given evidence to her correspondence with lys, as he was given with tristan hunter. the prince of the eyrie has yet to divulge this information.

These ones I've cropped a bit more so you can see less of my lovely grey carpet in the borders, does mean the edges of the images may be a bit cropped off as well!

Ben Blackwood carried with him the broken body of Ser Addam Velaryon, found dead beside his dragon. His bones would rest at Raventree Hall for eight years.

haunt me, girlies | hunt me, girlies - the babes of (they say i killed you, haunt me then)
Wylla Karstark - wife to Prince Aemond and Princess of House Targaryen. She hails from Karhold in the far reaches of the North. If you tell her something she doesn't like, she will bite you, and call you the most scathing insult you've ever heard in your life.
Helaena Targaryen - Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and wife to King Aegon II Targaryen. She hails from King's Landing. While known as pleasant and dreamy, she will absolutely let a spider loose in your bed if you fuck with her. And probably feed you to her dragon.
Abrogail Strong - The king's mistress and Lady of Harrenhal. She hails from Harrenhal in the Riverlands, though she has spent her life in King's Landing. She has perfected the "I can't believe you just had the audacity to say that to me" look and will wither you with a glance.
Allana Tyrell - Mistress of Whispers to Aemond Targaryen and wife of Lord Durran Morrigen (and secret girlfriend of Roslyn Blackwood). She hails from Highgarden in the Reach. She will know everything she needs to know about you in the span of five minutes, judge you for it, and have no qualms about using it to ruin your life if you mess with her or her friends. Don't let that face fool you.
Roslyn Blackwood - lady to Princess Wylla (and secret girlfriend of Allana Tyrell). She hails from Raventree Hall in the Riverlands and has never forgotten that Northern magic flows in her veins. She'll lure you in with that sweet demeanor and then sic her girlfriend on you if you act up. She also talks shit about you in Old Tongue.
Cassandra Baratheon - (sort of) heir to Storm's End. She hails from Storm's End in the Stormlands. "Ours Is The Fury" was written with Cassandra in mind. Secrets are her currency and she is not afraid to straight up murder a child.
Jemma Lannister - lady to Queen Helaena. She hails from Casterly Rock in the Westerlands and don't think for one second she isn't proto-Cersei. She has no qualms about assisting her bestie in child murder.
Lysa Fossoway - lady to Queen Helaena. She hails from Cider Hall in the Reach. Though unassuming, she schemes with the best of them, and again, does not shy away from of child murder or any other number of girl code war crimes.
