Raghuvan, Teri raah nihaare
chapter 6 here
Chapter 7
S/n: i have nothing to say in defense
Adikavya took a deep breath. No news have been received from Ram's house in past some days. Did he finally manage to call the wedding off? She slowed her steps down, didn't want to go home so soon. Her friends in college had nothing but sympathy for her when they got to know about the whole Ram and the brothel ordeal. Which was annoying- very annoying. Good thing college was ending soon, it was already hard enough for her to attend it with her family's permission. The more she stays away from the idea of marriage, the more she can study.
Adikavya huffed, turning the corner, almost knocking into someone. She looked up to find Akhtar there. Akhtar was a friend she made before college even started. He lived alone, away from his home in another state. Akhtar gave a long look to her and disappeared in the narrow street between two buildings. Adikavya sighed and followed him, knowing where they were heading to.
Akhtar was a tall man with curly head of hair and a beige kurta as his trademark. On a rather special moment, you might catch him wearing his septum ring. His demeanor was bold, strong, intimidating. But he was still as innocent and shy as a child. Although, he sure was a born leader.
Adikavya and Akhtar sat together, a boiled corn cob in their hands, swinging their legs as her anklets jingled in the eastern winds. "Why do you hate Ram?"
Adikavya looked at him in an awestruck confusion. This was way too out of ordinary.
"I don't"
"Don't lie"
"I don't hate him. I hate how it will be impossible to live my life how I want it to be if I get married to him"
"Why"
"Because first, I don't want to get married. And he is in love with someone else"
"Isn't that Sita from the mahal across the river?"
"Yeah"
"Wasn't she your friend?"
Adikavya froze on spot. She could feel the winds passing through her hair, her palms on the rough surface of the stone they sat on. She could feel the glowing fire in her heart of anxiety and hiding the truths. Akhtar promised to never utter this relationship in the world. Ever. Wordlessly, she got up and walked back home, leaving a hesitant Akhtar behind.
============================================
Ram remembered when Sita laid by the banks of Ganga, drinking her sorrow away. Her hair like strands of gold woven with leaves of tulsi. Eyes keen like wide leaves of peepal, her bindi brighter than the moon. Ram wanted to touch her white saree, her scent after she has just taken a bath. The voice of sita's ghungroo chiming through the courtyard, mingling with chirps of maina on the railing of balcony.
Ram slowly smiled at the faint memory of his time in Sita Mahal, the ends of his lips tugged up by string of sadness. It's been two days since he left the Sita Mahal but was still finding his way home. Did he even have a home at this point? The only golden palace to call his home was the shining sandalwood arms of sita. Why does all the pleasure comes to an end? But she was just not a pleasure anyways. Never was.
Ram struggled to stand on his own legs at this point. He has been searching for his Sita throughout the roads of Banaras, but always gets tired remembering she is nowhere but the place he will never step a foot again. He could make out the road that led to Adikavya's home. Adikavya. The woman never loved him, never wanted to marry him. But she had the need to escape her family, to find a chance good enough to leave everything behind. Ram also saw the terrace of his own- Babai's house from a distance in blurriness. It was quarter to twelve, the streets empty with warmth of streetlights being Ram's only comfort. He slumped down by the pole, the excess amount of alcohol finally getting to his head.
-
Adikavya hurried to close the windows in a hurry with all the mosquitos following the sweet scent in her house. It was way too late but she was desperate to get rid of them. The constant whirring and biting has been a disaster for her sleep.
In the distant streetlamp light, she could figure out an unconscious shadow by the pole. Must be a drunkard, she thought. Her bangles jingled lightly when she reached for the window gate. As she shut the wooden window gently as to not awaken anyone in the house, a fleeting thought of the drunkard being Ram passed her mind. It was true that no one knew where Ram had been from past two days. Although Adikavya and her family assumed that 'he must be lying in a ditch somewhere', she was, if not equally, but a little worried- for the sake of humanity.
Covering her face with a shawl, her hurried footsteps were the only sound of life in the dead street at night. Adikavya wished it was not Ram. That would be a lot less burden on her. Even if it was Ram, what would she do? Who would she call for help? And most importantly, why would she call anyone for help? Ram was no one related to her or was not going to be related to her anytime soon. Adikavya's steps only quicken at the sight of a body as muscular as Ram. If it was Ram, she would have to drag him his own house and leave him there. No other options.

word count: 3.1k+
summary: idiots in love
YES I’m alive SORRY it took me million years to update I will update more often now I swear
The next morning as the sun shone through the thin curtains of Ram’s former bedroom, he fluttered his eyes open. Settling into the surrounding as he rose back to reality, he’d realised it was the first time he slept in his room after being married. He slept in his library to honour his lady wife’s privacy and comfort given their marriage was a bit sudden and to fit circumstances. Regardless, he also recalled it being the first time he slept next to his wife, the last of his memory from the previous night was his fingers intertwined with hers and her head by his bicep-the pair snuggling as they dozed off. He looked to his side and found it empty her side of the bed already made.
Ram revisited his memories of y/n’s embrace, was it a dream or did it actually happen? No, he was sure it did happen. He remembered being half asleep as they held each other after visiting some events of his life. The feeling of her asleep in his arms, he remembered her even breathing, the feeling of his hands around her, the solace of her—why am I thinking about it? Ram had his mind made up he wasn’t made for petty domesticities, he had a huger sense of purpose. Despite of the fact that he smiled a bit to himself just remembering that he slept with his wife in his arms and their conversation, the vulnerability he seemed not regretful of showing her. It made him feel lighter and it wasn’t a feeling he was so used to so he contradicted it.
Pushing away the thoughts that the most mundane intimacy with his wife made him feel any more better or a bit confused that she had simply left that morning, she usually always did before he left for work but today he felt as if she was expected not to be doing so? Perhaps she could’ve awoken him before leaving? Perhaps stayed for some tea—Stop. Thinking. About. Her.
That day he did not need to attend to his station for work, he got ready and studied in his library when approaching conversations from the verendah averted his attention. It was y/n and Akhtar, strangely?
They both seemed bumped into each other on their way back home as they briefed about it to Ram, he barely caught everything they were talking about because he couldn’t get his mind to stop circling back to the previous night and how simple and somewhat unbothered y/n seemed to be with it. Was she trying to act as if nothing happened, perhaps it wasnt something that was not to be put so much thought into? For what it was worth the two just slept alongside each other or maybe she secretly despised Ram this entire time— “Ram!” Y/n exclaimed pulling him out of his thoughts “Akhtar seems truly smitten with love about this certain someone!” she said chuckling, the two seemed to be conversing about this woman Akhtar met at the market earlier today and he blushed like a school boy when y/n put it that way. She brought Akhtar a glass of water as he had his mandatory meal at their house.
Ram gathered he had to put attentive input of course, he teased Akhtar over liking Jenny and the couple had a good laugh about Akhtar not interpreting the woman’s name correctly because of language barrier. Regardless the two agreed to join Akhtar when he begged them to come along to the function, y/n asked for a hurried second to get ready as Ram tended to Akhtar with his suspenders and his knowledge in grooming hair.
Ram had just finished setting Akhtar’s hair when y/n called out to leave from the living room, she had worn a fine lehngha dress with a pink-off white adjacent dupatta of heavy royal work. It was very different from the white salwaar she usually wore. Ram took that in, Ram took all of it in just staring at her as she hastily tried to fix the bits of it. Y/n didn't quite understand why he was looking at her with a solemn unblinking face, he was actually looking at her in awe. Somehow to his thankfulness it wasn’t showing, they didn’t have a lot of occasions where she dressed up—he tried to debate it to himself on the inside that this wasn’t what he felt everyday at a mere glimpse of her. “What?” she asked confused as she caught on him staring at her.
Of all he thought of her in that moment, of how beautiful he thought she looked, of how much he felt looking at her, how intensely he did and how much he did not want to kneel to those feelings and just how frustrating it was to battle those thoughts when she looked this captivatingly beautiful “Nothing.” was all he said with a shrug and gestured her to walk along to get to the jimkhana gathering. Even Akhtar was in a hurry.
-
Ram and Akhtar were soon to depart as soon as the got there, much to Ram’s dislike given he could barely take his eyes off his wife however whilst he did that he just had his usual brooding expression not letting his feelings surface. Y/n was on the side for a while just when she was approached by an old friend, “Princess is that you?!” Jenny exclaimed making y/n turn around.
“Jenny?” Y/n spoke with a huge smile on her face, when they were younger Jenny had frequent visits to her palace and then their uni days in London were spent together. The two enlaced each other in a hug with a hearty chuckle. “It’s been so long!”
“I know!” Jenny exclaimed hugging her friend for a while as she let go, “How long have you been here?” Jenny asked as she let off the hug to face her friend. She was dressed rather galant despite what Jenny knew of her indifference to such events.
“Just a few minutes” Y/n replied mentally summing everything that she has to tell Jenny.
“No I meant here as in the capital.” Jenny corrected her phrasing.
“Oh a while actually…five months or so?” Y/n said with a slight nod calculating proper number of weeks since she’d been married.
“How dare you not tell me earlier?” Jenny complained and nudged y/n’s elbow playfully.
“I didn’t know you were here!” Y/n exclaimed as she inhaled a breath, “a lot a has happened, I am actually banished from my father’s state.” Y/n briefed her shortly in a normal Tuesday happening tone.
“Gods really?” Jenny gasped but having known y/n’s blunders she wasn’t really taken aback, “I am not entirely surprised but your father was always so resistive to your roguery.”
“He was actually” y/n nodded along thinking back to it, there were many a times her father could’ve himself banished her from the state given the rebelliousness she was upto even outside of patriotism “But no this is the government, you know speeches and the rallys didn’t sit right with some and they deem it wrong because I’m a princess but they don’t deem looting and reaving wrong.”
“I am so terribly sorry” Jenny said with a grim expression, “You should come live with me, we’d love to have you over!”
“Almost forgot to mention…” Y/n began suppressing a giggle “I have a husband now.”
“You have a what?” Jenny couldn’t help but laugh out at that, the last person she could’ve imagined getting marrying and settling down was y/n, from their uni days as Jenny recalled the last thing on her list was getting married. “You don’t have to lie to me if you don’t want to stay here I understand—”
“No no I really do have a husband” Y/n interrupted her midway trying to say it with more conviction, saying it out loud to Jenny was just as surprising to y/n herself. I have a husband now.
Jenny took a pause as she blinked a few times and realised y/n wasn’t joking, “Really? You?”
“Yes yes…it’s a marriage of a convince really, my father didn’t want me to just fend for myself alone and he’d known my husband’s father before he died” Y/n explained “and now I live with him here…it’s just the two of us.”
“Not only am I in a great shock I am also very upset I wasn’t invited to the wedding!” Jenny complained, her girlhood best friend wasn’t the most romantic knight in a shinning armour wanting girl, her getting married in the first place was huge as it is, jenny gathered she wouldn’t have wanted a grandeur of a wedding but not even being invited to her best friend’s wedding? She wouldn’t have thought.
“The order for my banishment said I had to leave in a fortnight, seriously the whole wedding wasn’t even that huge it took place in two days in temple at our garden and the only people there were my father, some of the castle staff, Ram and perhaps his uncle that is all.” Y/n reasoned.
“I could’ve been there by rail in two hours had you informed me but it’s alright” Jenny sighed, getting over it, she understood the pace of her situation at the time “So his name is ram?” She asked as she wanted to know more about her best friend’s marriage.
“Yes!” Y/n replied enthusiastically with an unaware smile on her face at the mention of him. “He is actually here w-”
“Is he?!” Jenny exclaimed as she looked around the crowd “You must introduce me” as she kept looking around jenny was soon pulled back to y/n’s attention.
“Hey stop it he’ll know we were talking about him!” Y/n instructs her as it confused jenny.
“So what? He’s your husband?” Jenny questioned.
“Yes but…it’s a bit complicated.”
“Complicated?” Jenny asked with a low chuckle “You are married to him!”
“Yes..yes!” Y/n sighed as she tried to think how best she could explain it to her, “You know how I said it’s just a marriage of convince, I married him because of my father and he did for societal image.”
“Oh…” Jenny said sadly as she nodded, “So you don’t like him?”
“No no—the opposite actually” Y/n sighed, she hadn’t yet admitted this to herself but as she talked about it she realised it further “I really like him.”
“Oh!” Jenny exclaimed, she’d always joked about this to y/n when they were younger about finding a knight in shinning armour and she had always brushed it off, that headstrong girl liking somebody was so bizarre yet wholesome, Jenny had never been more glad to he right “So what’s wrong?”
“We’re not in an ideal marriage, at first I was glad! When I came here I could attend any public meetings and movements unlike back at the state where my father and the soldiers back at our palace knowing all my whereabouts all the time-“
“Like that ever stopped you?” Jenny snorted as she interrupted her.
“That’s a different story” y/n narrowed her eyes playfully “but yes with Ram, I was so happy he doesn’t care what I do or where I go as I take part in revolutions…but he is my husband and Ram doesn’t care what I do or where I go.” Y/n repeated in a dejected tone.
“That is complicated” Jenny said in agreement with a sigh.
“And he is so obligatorily nice to me, he cooks for us because I can’t, he lets me sleep in his bedroom whilst he does in his study so I’m not uncomfortable, as I get to know him more and more i’m starting to develop feelings for him, very strongly Jenny and I don’t think he feels the same” she said exhaling a breath.
“What nonsense! He sounds like a lovely man how would he not fall for you? Me, personally I wouldn’t cook each day for somebody I wasn’t head over heels for!” her friend said as she tried to big her up.
“Perhaps…but I’m just a responsibility to him in a way I guess that’s why he does what he does and I am starting to really like him” y/n mentioned it felt just as caged as it did liberating finally coming to term with her feelings. “And he is just so distant I have no way of knowing how he feels about me!”
“Have you thought about talking to him about your feelings?” Jenny suggested.
“Have you gone mad?” Y/n asked as if Jenny had suggested the most ridiculous option ever “Of course not! I’ll just suppress my feelings about Ram until they eventually go away—“ she stopped herself midway as she saw Ram approaching them “it doesn’t always depend upon the horse in polo you have to have a good grip with the-“ Y/n had entirely changed her conversation so Ram wouldn’t know they were talking about her feelings for him, it even left Jenny massively confused why she just changed the subject halfway through her sentence, “Ram!” Y/n greeted nonchalantly as she turned jenny around, that explains it, Jenny thought.
-
It had been quite the eventful afternoon after y/n introduced Jenny and Ram, also the dance that escalated was quite the joy. They had gotten back home as y/n sat in the living room reading the weekly print of Champak, as avid and versatile reader that she was she had read most books in Ram’s library and as silly as it was she was fond of the snippet and short stories in champak.
She had gathered Ram would probably go out again or be succumbed into his study, she did not bother pry him even though she wished if he could perhaps just come and sit beside her on the sofa, tangle his fingers in her hair and talk abo—no.
It was almost as if he could read her mind? She thought as he came out of the kitchen with two cups of tea in his hands, handing y/n hers as she straightened herself in her seat. Instead of sitting across her and going on about his reading or just leaving the room like always ram just sat right next to her, not too close yet not too far. “You didn’t have to” Y/n said with a small smile as she sipped the tea, so far what she had learned to cook was tea often during supper she’d make it herself yet Ram made, without her asking him to do so…
“It’s alright” Ram, on the other hand, hoped and prayed on the inside if she could pick up on his feelings, at this point he wasn’t even denying his feelings. Not denying the himself thoughts of her, her in his headspace just made him feel so whole he wondered how he could make it this far without thinking of her, how could anyone? What good was a purpose if he couldn’t accept the blessing of a wife he’d received from the gods? “You were reading that?” He asked pointing at the children’s moral story magazine.
“Yes!” Y/n exclaimed enthusiastically however she regretted it soon enough when she realised he didn’t mean it as if he shared her fondness for it, “Dont read it often though…was just lying around” she shrugged trying to play it off as if it didn’t interest her.
“Oh?” Ram responded raising a brow, “wonder who does the half finished crossword and maze games then?” He had seen her attempts on crossword and the games in those weekly copies lying around almost everywhere ever since she’d been living there.
“Alright fine I enjoy them!” She confessed “Just wanted to seem intellectual.” She said with a chuckle, as he stared at her longingly hoping he could hold her hand as she laughed, intertwine their fingers as he’d make her laugh. “What?” She asked him unsure why he looked at her like that, with a pause.
“My lady can read whatever she wants” Ram said zoning back in hoping he could cover up his awkward crack of feelings with sarcasm.
“Ram!” She whined as she swat his arm playfully, she had asked him before not to address her as ‘my lady’ he simply just did it on purpose to annoy her.
“Alright, y/n” He complied emphasising on her name “Wouldn’t make a difference to me if you weren’t an intellectual.”
“Oh how polite of you” she joked as she finished her tea and placed the cup on the small table by the sofa, Ram had picked up the short story page of the magazine that lied between them. “Change of heart?”
“I need to be intellectual enough for your company.” Ram told her with a grin and earned a playful roll of eyes from her.
Y/n leaned back on the sofa to see which exact page he was on, “I was just reading that” she mentioned as he held the magazine in his hands in a way she could read it along with him.
Whilst the pair read it Ram kept making funny comments after almost every second line causing her to laugh, he loved the sight of it. Her trying her best to focus on reading the snippet of fable but he kept making her burst into laughter. “Wonder why the older animals are never ever the villain? Watch this old vulture apologise and all of a sudden he is everybody’s favourite neighbour” Ram joked in the context of the story as y/n tried to soothe her laughter.
“Stop please I want to read it through!” She exclaimed as she laughed softly, her previously gracefully worn dress having loose ends, the dupatta of heavy work just a drape on her adding some carefree charm to her, her disheveled pinned down hair and her hearty laugh…all so enchanting to him.
“You are reading each word?” He asked with a huff, he had just skimmed through the story.
“Of course! You only get this once a week!” She said as she looked up from the magazine to him, they were rather close since they’d been reading but as she’d face him she was close, just not close enough however both their jokes and amusing had faded. She didn’t even look back to the story to continue reading.
Without a word, Ram leaned in, his heart pounding with anticipation. Y/N's breath hitched, as he held her face and pulled her to him, their lips met in a tender and passionate kiss, time seemed to stand still. Y/n kissed him back just as eagerly as she’d smiled into the kiss holding the side of his arm.
When the two finally pulled away, both smiling widely and blushing the world seem to be resumed but they let the weight of unspoken words just hang there, happy with the gravity of their affection.

Guess who is in middle of a lecture but decided to write this here ::
So I've been thinking about doing a case study for Bheem like I did for Ram but then I realised it's not the same.
I can't ask the same questions, actually I'm not even sure of what questions I can put up.
Have you watched Korean movies or dramas? If yes then you must have noticed how well formed, rounded and individual there characters are.
Bheem is the same.
He's a well formed human. That's the highest compliment for not just characters but for real people as well.
He's confident in his talents, he's secure about his upbringing and values. He doesn't allow negativity to overwhelm him.
Unlike us unhinged idiots, he stays in control of his state of being.
I think the only time I saw a shred of hate was when Ram suggested that he be hung infront of Malli.
Even that could be seen as self loathing because he trusted Ram and couldn't understand how he was so wrong. Well maybe not but allow me to indulge okay?
I was thinking and couldn't come up with single response to who he'd be without Ram.
Probably same as he was.
Isn't that beautiful? Bheem stayed true to his essence throughout.
As much fun it was to watch Ram become free in bheem's presence, it was very peaceful to see how Bheem virtually didn't need another person to make him better.
Without Ram, Bheem would still be Bheem- soft, caring, intelligent and a free spirit. I almost thought Ram gave Bheem the impulse to comeup with self sabotaging plans but then i remembered that our guy was collecting wild animals much before the epic meet.
Then i laughed. Cried a bit too, I'll tell you why-
Without Ram, Bheem would be same. Ram didn't contribute to character development. The only thing Bheem gained out of this friendship was love.
Bheem would still be a loving person but Ram showed him love.
I can never undermine this. I have personally craved for a connection as pure and strong as theirs.
The secure bond they had was Ram's little contribution to Bheem's life and nothing can be more precious than that.
Brb gotta wipe these treacherous tears.

"The life force inside you should dance with joy"
I rushed this one in like one hour. I typically don't watch the Oscar nominations, but I had to do it this year... for reasons. It is very nice to see non-English songs, and non-English movies, come this far.
im also heading into exam season right now so ill slow down a bit for now ✌️

Dream A Little, Dream of Me.
Tumblr media
.
.
.
"........"
"Ram....look at me."
He opened his eyes, tears rolling down his face, lips wet and bruised, body slick with sweat.....
"What do you want ram?"
His mere voice was making him tremble...
And yet he continued, whispering into his ear,
"Tell me... What do you want?"
.
.
.
"Bheem....please stop teasing.."
His own voice sounded so shaky and ragged he could hardly recognize it.
Bheem began biting and sucking on his collarbone, while his hands moved up and down the length of his spine...making him shudder and gasp with each touch, each breath that he took.
His mind feels dizzy as he feels Bheem hold him down and push inside him while kissing him all over his face, making him cry out and tremble as waves of pleasure Wash over him, leaving him burning and wanting more....
.
.
.
.
.
.
Ram was wide awake.
He felt unusually hot, the fabric of his dhoti suddenly feeling too tight and uncomfortable-
Oh.
Oh no.
Out of every potentially awkward situation, this was the worst.
He had gone to bed with Bheem in his arms, pressing kisses into each others faces and shoulders as they laid close, enjoying the other's warmth.
And now, Bheem was fast asleep right by him, with one arm wrapped around his waist, head nuzzling into his shoulder with their legs tangled.
Which was a problem considering his......Situation.
Ram took a deep breath and tried to calm himself.
Given their current position, Moving was out of the question.
Bheem was a light sleeper and if he woke up and saw him like this.... Ram would rather drown himself than deal with the humiliating embarrassment.
It would go away on its own.
If he could just distract himself a bit and patiently wait, it certainly would.
Unfortunately, the dream he just had refused to leave his mind.
Rough hands grabbing his waist, pinning his arms down and griping his hips-
.
.
Ram wanted to slap himself.
This was not going to work.
He was pent up, and having Bheem almost on top of him was making it worse.
Heart filled with dread and desperation, he tried to lift Bheem's arm off him....only to have him stir and push his knee right between his legs.
His throat made a strangled noise and Ram bit his tongue to silence himself.
He had to leave right now.
If Bheem woke up, he'll just say he needed to use the bathroom urgently.
He sat up, gently grabbing Bheem's leg and untangled himself.
Then he swung his legs down the bed and was about to get up and make a dash for the bathroom when an arm Wrapped around his waist and pulled him back up.
"Where are You going?"

Back to you (2)
SOOO Here it is. I hope this reached your expectations. Do we have a kissing scene below? Check it for yourself 👀 and this was my first time ever writing a kissing scene so excuse me if it feels awkward. Enjoy!
PART-1
Y/N knew Ram was pissed at her. Everybody else had noticed the same but chose to ignore it, leaving Y/N to pray to God to let her have the upper hand this time and go to her room before Ram found a way to corner her.
Ram had come back in the evening, and Y/N had run to her room, feigning a terrible headache. Seetha and Jenny rolled their eyes while Bheem stood dumbfounded, wondering how did Y/N feel sick suddenly. Ram, on the other hand, frowned at Y/N but did not comment on it.
Bheem, Seetha and Jenny knew what had happened between Ram and Y/N. After coming back and not seeing Y/N for two months with her, not even asking about his whereabouts had deeply hurt him. She regularly wrote to Bheem and Jenny but never asked about Ram. And so, one full moon night, when the four of them were huddled by a fire, Ram let out his emotions and narrated the incident, regretting not telling her the truth sooner.
Ram had met Y/N at the party for the first time. She was wearing a light pink saree and a pearl necklace around her neck. She wore her hair down with a string of jasmine flowers, holding some of her beautiful curls at the back while the rest cascaded down to her waist. It was a bright sunny day, and she would repeatedly shield her face from the sun while talking to Jenny and her friends. To Ram, she looked adorable and charming.
But look how the tables turned. She was near him, yet so far.
The entire evening, she barely even looked his way and only answered with a nod or a word. There were no smiles for him. Whenever by chance she looked at him, her eyes appeared restless and nervous.
It was dinnertime, and Ram had enough of her distant behaviour. He was going to find a way to have her alone and talk to her. He was never angry about the words she spoke to him that night. He never told her the truth, and Y/N cared for Bheem like a sister. Things would never have escalated this way if he would have told her about his life.
The Gods above favoured him, it appeared, for Y/N was serving food to everyone. Seetha and Jenny were in the kitchen, and Bheem was banana leaves to the other side. Y/N, in her nervousness, hadn’t noticed that Ram was in her line, and he was very happy about it.
As she neared the end where Ram sat, she realized that the man she was running away from was sitting just in front of her. Ram started smirking while she frantically turned around. It was then she heard him speak in a low voice, just for her to hear.
“Don’t you dare run from me now, Y/N.”
Y/N gulped and walked towards him slowly, holding the rice pot in her hand. She kneeled and began placing some rice over his banana leaf. Ram took this opportunity and leaned in, whispering, “Why have you been running away from me?”
Y/N was about to drop the serving spoon. Maintaining her grip over the spoon and the pot, she answered swiftly, “Am I running? Not at all. Why do I need to run and from you out of all the people here?”
“Oh really? Then why weren’t you looking me in the eye while talking to me? Why are you gulping so hard now? We have been this close before, too. Why are your eyes looking here and there as if you want to flee the second I turn my attention away from you?” He gently moved a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Look, you still can’t look me in the eye.” He ran his finger over her cheekbone. “Please… don’t go away from me.”
His touches created goosebumps on her skin. She wanted to run away so badly, but she knew, it would be in vain. After carefully placing rice for him, she got up and turned to call Bheem, “Bheem, serve the curry this side. I am done.”
Ram wanted to groan badly but just closed his eyes in frustration. Why was this woman acting like that, he wondered. Y/N looked at him and grinned. “Enjoy your meal, Ram.” Of course, she would grin. She got another opportunity to run away from him.
“This isn’t over, Y/N. We still need to talk. Just wait for a while, and I will find you and catch you before you run away again.”
***
Y/N cursed her fate and her slow eating habit. Others were done with their meal while she still had half of her food left to ingest. Ram, the ever-observant took advantage of that and purposely ate his food very slowly. Everyone had left after eating, leaving behind these two, and Y/N was not pleased with it.
“See, even luck favours me, Y/N,” said, Ram with a victorious grin on his lips.
“I may eat my food slowly, but I can run fast. You won’t be able to catch me,” retorted, Y/N, aggressively scooping the rice in her hand.
“You will escape only when you are able to complete your food and step out, which won’t happen for a long time,” said, Ram, gesturing at the quantity of her food left. “Don’t worry. I am here to give you company.”
“I have no interest in talking to you,” saying so, Y/N stuffed her mouth.
Finishing his meal, Ram got up to wash his hands outside and came back inside. This time, he went and sat beside her, but still kept some distance between them in case Y/N threw a tantrum.
“Now, tell me, why are you behaving this way? First, you were scared to talk to me, and now that we are together, you feel annoyed when I talk to you. I know, I did you wrong by hiding my true identity, but by now, you know the truth.”
Y/N had hurriedly gulped her food within the time Ram was out to wash his hands and quickly put the last morsel in her mouth to avoid speaking. She had so many things to say to him. First of all, he deserved an apology for that night and all the hateful thoughts she had for him before knowing the truth from Seetha.
“I am not angry at you, Ram.” She looked down and then back at him. His eyes had turned soft, the same eyes, the same look he always had for her whenever she was near him. He wanted her as much as she wanted him, but Y/N was resisting him and denying her feelings. She muttered to herself. “I am angry at myself”
Y/N got up to wash her hands, but unlike her plans to leave him right there, she chose to enter inside. It would be unfair to him if she walked away like that. “I am sorry for the words, I spoke to you that night, and for all the thoughts, I harboured inside me after hearing that you caught Bheem and whipped him. Had I known that you did all of this for the greater good, I wouldn’t have done that. I have been holding this guilt for so long, and when I heard that Bheem was going to bring you back from prison, I prayed to Shiva that if you both came back safe, I would never face you again.”
Ram walked towards her, his arms wanted to hug her. This lady was mad, absolutely mad. Thankfully, her Shiva understood that he needed her, so he sent her to him. Ram was heartbroken without Y/N, and only he knew how much he craved her presence when he was placed in the solitary cell. Both of them committed mistakes, but it wasn’t intentional. Their story could have a second chance, a new beginning.
“Y/N, it wasn’t your fault. Had I been in your place, maybe I would have done the same, but that’s in the past. We have a new beginning and a new future. I want it to be with you. Let’s not brood over the past and the time we lost. Come with me, be with me, be my…” Ram hesitated to say the word. Was it too soon? He hadn’t even told her ‘I love you’ before but had imagined himself telling her the same a thousand times.
Y/N stepped back. “No, don’t say that. I am not worthy of you, Ram. You need someone who trusts you and always stands by you. I was never that person. Find someone better for you. Besides, I am leaving the day after tomorrow.” She looked at him and turned to move outside, controlling her tears that were on the verge of spilling out. She blinked hard to ease the burn in her eyes when she felt a rough tug on her elbow and a hard chest on her back.
Ram swiftly turned her forward and moved her hand behind her back. “When I told you that you aren’t escaping tonight from me, I meant it, Y/N.” He loosened her hold over her wrist but held it firm enough to not let her make any further escape attempts. They would sort this together. “Enough of running away. Now come with me and no questions.”
Y/N had no choice but to quietly follow him. He brought her near the riverbank. Gently, holding her hand, he made her sit on the ground and sat beside her, his face towards the sky. “Do you remember how we used to stargaze? My village will show you more stars, and the moon shines brighter here.”
Y/N turned her head towards the sky. Indeed, Ram’s words were true. The night sky was illuminated with stars as if they were tiny lamps, and the moon appeared a hundred times brighter here.
“This was the same moon, I gazed at when I was imprisoned by them. Each time, I looked at her, I was reminded of you. You were my strength during those hard times. I knew I had to be strong to come back to you and to serve my motherland. During those months, I only thought about the good memories we shared with each other. Only during Amavasya, I would spend my nights in despair because it reminded me of your eyes that looked at me with hate and your tearful face. And whenever it was a bright full moon, I would see you smiling.” Ram fixed his gaze on her. He had decided to tell her everything about his feelings. Today was the day.
Y/N smiled and chuckled to herself, wiping a tear that had escaped her eye, she finally looked at Ram with a fond expression. “Funny how we all look at the same moon and think of so many things. I indeed loathed you before, but each time, I would look at her, there was a voice telling me that you weren’t a bad friend. It reminded me of your warm smiles, which you reserved for Bheem and me. It reminded me of your carefree laughter when I told you some of my most terrible jokes. It reminded me of how you looked at me in awe when I would babble things related to my interests. Amidst the heartbreak, I was still in love with you, and I still am.” Realizing that she had finally confessed, she slapped her palm over her mouth and groaned. “Oh God, save me! Did I have to go that far?”
Ram spent no time engulfing her in a hug. “You are the one for me, Y/N! And if you say the same thing again about your guilt, I will… I will… I don’t even have any words left. You make me the happiest. I love you! I have loved you all this while. I love you so much.” He held her face gently, and with the softest voice possible, he said, “Please, never go away from me. I love you. I need you. You are my strength, Y/N. I am nothing without you.”
“I am sorry, Ram. But I promise, I shall not let anger get the best of me, and I will always stay beside you and make you hear all my lame jokes.” She laughed while hugging him as happy tears fell from her eyes. Now it felt complete. The flower of love had begun to blossom again.
“Kiss me, Y/N, please,” whispered Ram in a raspy voice. He wanted to touch her so badly. He wanted to be close to her after all the months he had to live away from her.
Y/N looked him in the eye and leaned forward. Ram tilted his face slightly to capture her soft lips. One of his hands went inside her hair, freeing her curls from her hair bun and the other was placed on her waist. The kiss felt like the first rainfall that graced the earth after a dry spell of summer. They moved their lips in sync, not caring that they were out in the open and someone would see them anytime. Nothing mattered to them anymore except that they loved each other and finally got to be together. Both of them put their unsaid words from the months they lived apart and the love they harboured in their chests into the kiss.
“That was…” Y/N blushed and looked down at the ground, covering her face with her hand.
Ram moved her hand away and placed his finger under her chin. Lifting her face towards him, he pecked her lips again. “I love you, Y/N.”
Holding his wrist, she placed his palm over her cheek and looked at him. “I love you too, Ram.”
“Oh God, finally, it happened.”
Both of them turned around at the voice. A horrified Bheem, an embarrassed Jenny and a grinning Seetha welcomed them.
“Carry on, you two. We are going home,” said Seetha and pulled her two companions away. Bheem bowed to Y/N and held his ear for Ram, and walked while Jenny gave a sheepish smile.
“Forget that. Where were we?” asked Y/N.
“Oh, my insatiable lover. Come here,” said Ram, laughing and opening his arms for her.
